Oriel my sun elf warlock of the Catilus, literally on the edge! This is an update of an older piece where I experimented with perspective and some new techniques!
Character: Oriel the Waking Dreamer, Sun Elf Warlock of the Catilus
Born to a wealthy family in the great elven nation of Ramethis, Oriel has been harboring a dark secret since birth. Shouldering an ancient curse, she suffers from visions that can manifest as illusions that alter reality itself for her and those around her, unless she controls them through sheer force of will.
Oriel’s father, Lord Eresseus, is a vastly influential merchant who sought to buy his way into the court of Ramethis. For his goal to succeed, he had to ensure Oriel’s secret remained hidden while he manipulated her into an arranged marriage to a viable heir of noble, or even royal, birth.
Just before her hundredth birthday, Oriel entered the royal court of Ramethis to serve as a diplomat and mediator, a duty she assumed with enthusiasm and fulfilled with success. However, as soon as she realized that her position in the court was part of her father’s schemes to marry her off to a royal heir, she abandoned her post to seek refuge among the peaceful, yet sometimes hedonistic dark elf sages of Varmy, deep in the Sunken World.
Not to be outsmarted, Lord Eresseus employed master diviners to track his daughter down and sent a host of suitors to Varmy, hoping that one of them would impress Oriel enough to secure a marriage that would bring his daughter back while ensuring his elevation to noble, or perhaps even royal, status. Her father’s intervention threatened to bring discord to the serene dark elves of Varmy, and when one of the suitors was revealed to be a dangerous enchanter who would not hesitate to subvert her will with his dark magic, Oriel made a brave decision. She left her dark elf friends behind, and against their counsel, she escaped into the Mageplex, a disused and unstable nexus of magic portals built by deep dwarves and dark elves millennia ago.
Entering the Mageplex, Oriel fell through the Rift, the astral plane through which one could reach most other realms, and found herself battling against her own visions and entropian horrors that live beyond time and space. Sensing her impending doom, she used the last reserves of her magic to cross into the void, the endless, featureless realm where reality has not yet taken shape.
As she floated helplessly into the void, she caught the attention of the Catilus, an ancient feline being of creativity and whimsy that had just awoken from its timeless catnap to create once more. The Catilus brought her into its family and bestowed upon her magic to paint color and meaning into the nothingness of the void. Empowered with these newfound abilities, Oriel was able to finally master her vision, turning them into works of magical art. With the aid of her patron, she returned back to the world of Naam as a member of the Catilus Family.
For Oriel, it felt like a few days of intense struggle against entropian horrors, and then a few more days of partying and making art with the catili, but when she stepped out of the Mageplex, five whole decades had passed, and the Theomachy, the cosmic war between the gods, had transformed Naam beyond recognition once more. Now, as one of the first warlocks of the Catilus in this era and one of the few remaining sun elves on Naam, she must use magic more creatively than ever before, seek out old friends, and make new allies if she is to survive…
Oriel is one of my own characters in Theomachy! You may recognize her from lots of other illustrations, paintings, sketches, and homebrew!

Characters: Stanis Thornbern, Bearfolk Wizard, and his duck familiar Chauncey (plus hidden mouse!)
Stanis Thornbern has always had a passion for learning and a knack for magic. He spent years studying and teaching at the universities of his homeland, acquiring and sharing knowledge as much as he possibly could. With his duck familiar Chauncey by his side, there is no way he would rather spend his day than pouring over spellbooks and various ancient tomes, simply soaking it all in.
It is this thirst for knowledge that got him involved in the growing conflict plaguing the continent of Thabat. A group of champions was assembled to take on the forces of evil trying to overthrow the land. Stanis was chosen as the one to represent his country in the fight, and he reluctantly agreed to help even though he very much does not want to leave the comfort of the university behind. He knows that if the evil that is threatening the world is not stopped, he will have no university to return to anyway. He is ready to apply the knowledge and skills that he has spent his entire life learning to help stop this threat so that he may return to his peaceful life of study.

Character: Xerastra, Half-Dragon Bard
As a rare half-dragon, Xerastra can experience the beauty of life as a mortal through the eyes of someone with a draconic perspective. Cheerful and fun-loving, she respects the insight of her blue dragon relatives while also understanding the wisdom of short-lived mortals.
Xerastra’s draconic nature is strong from her father’s side, but it only adds to her otherworldly elven beauty from her mother’s side. As a deeply magical bard, she laces her exotic dances with dragon magic and takes great pride in refining and perfecting her art.

About the Theomachy setting:
In Theomachy, vengeful gods fight each other for ultimate control of the universe, while the mortals of Naam struggle for power on a dying world. Divine magic is a force without expressed will that the warring gods hoard and wield against each other, threatening to undo the entire world. Clerics and paladins are either devout followers of the warring gods or theomachists who fight against the gods, liberating divine magic and using it against them.

No Eberron spoilers please but I just made a little musical leitmotif for the Unity in Riedra which I imagine they might sing a lot there (it's my first time messing around in Cakewalk so I'm very happy with the end result!) and I'm just going to go ahead and ramble about my thinking behind the interpretation of this piece in Riedra:

So, it depends where you are in Reidra, but the typical interpretation is that the opening is the call of the Unity, and the answering refrain is the reply of the Il'Altas (With one of those usually being represented by the Inspired, who might sometimes take part in these performances leading one of those two refrains). The other voices, regardless, are all members of the Unity, harmonizing and interlinking with the core voices to create something broader, grander, and majestic. There comes a point in the song where those voices stray, staggering around the tune and losing step with the melody, creating something disjointed and less majestic than what came before. But the two central refrains do not waver, and in the end, the voices of those in the Unity come back to harmonize with the core as one.

A half-elf rogue and a halfling bard “president” I drew! Can you spot the hidden kitten?
Characters: Rendon, Male Half-Elf Rogue; and President Starr, Halfling Bard
Rendon was cast out from his small hometown for sleeping with the sheriff’s wife and took on a life of adventure. He was slain in battle with three arrows to the chest, but his companions sought out to resurrect him, which came with a number of side-effects.
President Starr is the actual leader of the people of Goodsprings who rose to fame and power from humble beginnings. Rendon and President Starr have a very close but not physically intimate relationship. They enjoy intellectually rich exchanges between adventures!

Likes: stuffing its cheek pouches, playing with bees, pretending to be a flower
Dislikes: being indoors, loud sounds, predators
An adorable and unlikely fusion between a hamster and a flower, flosters are tiny critters that delight to play among flowers. Their benign magic allows flosters to create flowers on the ground and directly on their backs, and they love to see and smell each other’s flowers.
Calm and docile, a floster will run away and either burrow on the ground or hide among flowers at the sight of danger. If it’s scared, a floster can pretend to be a flower for hours at a time.
Familiar. At the gamemaster’s discretion, a player character who can cast find familiar may choose the form of a floster for their familiar.

1st September commission complete; Cormag, a client's D&D 5e Level 12 goliath character (11 barbarian/1 warlock): Carrying a +2 stone maul over his right shoulder, wearing a belt of Fire Giant Strength, a cloak of protection, and an arcane propulsion arm that replaced his left arm, lost in a confrontation with a green dragon. An eyepatch meant to cover his now missing right eye (lost in that same confrontation) hangs loosely, forgotten on the right side of Cormag's face.

guys i need help, i am working on one character for dnd rn in heavy cooperation with dm cuz he is trying to run a custom system with own worldbuilding and races. My dude is a devilkin and lore we agreed on is he got adopted by pirates after his demonic ancestors from one noble house of hell (devilkin are basically failed demons) chose to get rid of him after burning away his ancestral mark.
So the bit i need help with is the mark itself as being a newborn he remembered the blurry shape of it as only thing he could use to find out about his real family and who he really is, also i am allowed to design a ship of my own (posted sketch here) and want to raise the flag based on blurry image of the mark. Here's the black outline of the emblem HE made and red blurry mess is supposedly space occupied by the mark.

Born to a wealthy family in the great elven nation of Ramethis, Oriel has been harboring a dark secret since birth. Shouldering an ancient curse, she suffers from visions that can manifest as illusions that alter reality itself for her and those around her, unless she controls them through sheer force of will.
Oriel’s father, Lord Eresseus, is a vastly influential merchant who sought to buy his way into the court of Ramethis. For his goal to succeed, he had to ensure Oriel’s secret remained hidden while he manipulated her into an arranged marriage to a viable heir of noble, or even royal, birth.
Just before her hundredth birthday, Oriel entered the royal court of Ramethis to serve as a diplomat and mediator, a duty she assumed with enthusiasm and fulfilled with success. Hello! This is Anastasia de Pleur, my character from my fictional fantasy story i like to play in DnD and roleplay. She is a Dex Based Fighter who is a duelist and uses the dueling fighting style. She is very feminine and vain regarding her appearance, but she is largely good natured, pleasant and flirtatious, despite being rather exhausting after a while. She is also loudly bisexual and eventually becomes the love interest of my main character Lynnette

This is Ikeda Arashi, another character from the same fantasy story as Anastasia, but they come from other sides of the world. She is from the mysterious land of Yamatai, which is based off feudal Japan and China. I also use her for DnD, she is a homebrew Samurai class. She's a tank in every sense of the word, and is quite large for a woman, standing at 6 ft tall and with more genetic muscle mass then average. What she lacks in the strength in comparison to her male counterparts, she makes up for in prodigal skill, nimbleness, and natural endurance. She is sweet, reliable, stubborn, and very dedicated, especially to her fiancee Yoichi

That's generally how these things work, right? It's fun to highlight different origins

It's the "5e one" because it was invented for 5e. To make a older one, you have to retroactively look at what was the style at the time in terms of game UI sensibilities, and use that as a guide

That's what I meant lol Trying to come up with an art style for a border token that compliments the 4e dnd artwork. Say what you want about 4e but dang, their artwork is amazing!

4e definitely has its own style, it's more cartoony and definitely reflects a very heightened reality preference that was common in fantasy art at the time

You see it in Pathfinder as well, and also in video games like Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning or Darksiders

Later era World of Warcraft art sometimes leans that way, and Hearthstone is very deep into this style

Though for hearthstone, its even more cartoony, while 4e leans more "serious" within those heightened reality bounds

I actually love the idea of this- the evolution of the TTRPG token. I played 2e, and back in the 90s we used a lot of graph paper, with maps in pen, so pencil marks served as tokens.

It's fun to see a small snapshot of the evolution of DnD art by taking a look at the wiki page for any of the creatures that have featured prominently in all 5 editions. two examples here are "goblin" and "Mind Flayer". As RevKovo mentions, early 2e and 1e have a very scratchy, pencil like style

Later 2e is somewhat inspired by Frank Frazetta style fantasy paintings, while 3e uses that as a base, but also draws on 90s dark fantasy art and early digital art styles, as well as the Lord of the Rings movies

Some art towards the end of 3e (think "Book of Nine Swords") shows some pieces that are reminicent of what would come later in 4e

It would make sense for those tokens to be black/blue and white but I'm just not a huge fan of that monocrom. I've started taking black and white artwork from the old books and just slapping them into a parchment-esque style token but I still feel like it's missing something.

I think what its missing is that its a digital representation of a physical token- it looks awesome, but back in 2e, no one had a computer yet, even less had the emerging internet. I would make one out of cardboard and likely use colored pencil to draw the artwork. We drew everything like dc/marvel-comic style back in those days. Analog everything

Adam Conaguer lost his parent during a attack on his village by a demon. Adam and his 2 brothers take small jobs to get money, and one day they find a jobs that pay 30000 gold ! But it don’t end well.. Adam got separated from is 2 brother so they decided to split. Adam got tricked by two doppelganger looking like friendly humain and attack him. He won the fight but it cost a part of his face and he’s left foot . lucky for him he survive this nigntmaire with one of his brother but the other one died. (The other brother Henry is also one of my character but I won talk about him much here) many years later he went on a job with a few person, is bro and his girlfriend, but at the end he got betray by her and is bro went missing ! Living him alone with his trust issue. But he had a goal ! Find is missing brother. Would he find him ? Only time will tell !

A determined tiefling cleric I painted as tattoo on her lover’s arm!
Character: Lilith, Tiefling Cleric of Lathander
Lilith is a tiefling cleric of Lathander who betrayed and excommunicated by a corrupt member of the church. She bears a brand of her excommunication on her back but is now free of the church and able to explore who she really is. She travels in hope she can find a way to clear her name and cleanse the church of any corrupting influences.
Through her adventures, she met several friends, including Nilus, an affable changeling. Lilith and Nilus started dating soon after they exited the lost mine of Phandelver and grew even closer during their quest to stop the rise of the dragon queen.
Nilus eventually got the chance to obtain a magical tattoo that grants protection, and they chose to depict Lilith in an alluring pose in it. This is the image of Lilith on Nilus’ barrier tattoo!

Even tho other orcs used to call them the Goblin they are actually emulating a very small sized orc ahah, so they are a changeling shifted into an orc that looks like a goblin and who is named Grim Lyn, that’s a mess ahah

A unique tiefling adventurer I drew!
Character: Morgana, Tiefling, Bard, Sorceress, and Rogue
Morgana is a unique tiefling. Not only was she the first of her kind in her home country, but she's also born of demon ichor instead of a devil’s blood as a result of a failed magical experiment that unleashed demons and devils to fight in a city. Morgana was named after a powerful witch that attempted to overthrow a neighboring kingdom through evil.
She studied music from an early age at a school for special children before realizing the power of her demonic magic, which eventually caused her to manifest a pair of leathery wings. Throughout her life, she’s been the target of prejudices due to her appearance, but this didn’t stop her from distinguishing herself as an accomplished adventurer on many occasions.
In her adventures, she faced off against ruthless pirates, evil mages, cultists, and numerous monsters. Now, she owns and runs an establishment for all forms of entertainment called "hells respite", which also acts as her headquarters.
