Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
With a master tier subscription, yes.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/store/subscribe
Share unlocked content with other players
Start your first month free with the Hero and Master Tiers of D&D Beyond. Receive monthly perks, access homebrew content and create unlimited characters.
There is a possibility that anything within a campaign shares but so many of my fellow players are also master tier so it is hard to separate if the sharing works if a non master tier is in the same campaign.
Only one person needs to enable Content Sharing for the campaign, and then everyone’s books get shared with everyone else.
There ya go. So I guess that means at least one has to be master tier?
Is he using the 2024 Rogue class?
, not
?
2024
And on this page, does it show the 2024 PHB under Current Product Licenses?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses
Did he maybe order it as a gift purchase?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/my-gifts
Or order just the physical book and not the digital?
Hey thanks alot mate. Turns out he hasnt redeemed the code yet and it is working now.
Thank you to everyone else too
Anyone using solely the DND Beyond site to run campaigns with encounters, etc? I'd like to hear recommendations on what digital books I will need to DM effectively. Will I need the PHB? I imagine the DMG and Monstrous Compendium should be purchased -- hopefully that extends the online capabilities? I don't find the site to be incredibly descriptive on how the digital purchases expand on the service.
Do they open up more classes / races / subclasses for players when purchased? Does monstrous compendium open up more map tokens and encounter possibilities? Does Griffon Saddlebag open up more magical items in the inventory and a loot table (if there is one)? That's the type of info I'm looking for.
Could anyone explain why my 2014 monk is being given 1 higher martial arts die than it should? level 3 has a d6 and 5 has a d8?
Technical limitation with an interaction between 2024 and 2014 monk functionality. You’ll need to use a custom action for a 2014 monk’s martial arts.
Gotcha, thanks. Wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing something
is there an easier way to access my source books and content i have purchased instead of going to Sources > View all Sources > typing in the specific one i want? like a way i can see my stuff?
I feel like they need to replace the "my dice" button in the collections menu with "my library/content" and move the dice customization to the character sheet.
You can type library in that search bar to see just your own books.
I mean without making a character, in the listings tab
is there any way to more granualarly filter what books can and can't be used? I don't generally allow the Strixhaven or other MTg plane books, but I cant see any way to not have those included in the spells/origins
Not currently (as in you can't disable the character options from books being shared in a DnDBeyond campaign). The devs are aware of the desire for more fine-grained control.
Curious if there is a way to configure the equipment in DnD Beyond's character sheet aboard a Dogsled so that it doesn't show in the sheet as encumbered. I'm running Rime of the Frostmaiden, and after my party defeated Torrga and her henchmen, they appropriated the three dogsleds, with the dogs (who were all good bois). But the sheet considers my characters to be carrying the sled (and the dogs). Can we invoke a little logic here?
There should be a checkbox next to the dogsled. If you uncheck it, it will stop counting toward your carrying capacity.
Anyone know why I'm getting the "Verify you are human" page? I was messing with the homebrew section of DDB and after I created the creature, it sent me to the page and I'm doing the press and hold test, and it is giving me an error (Using Firefox browser).
it doesn't seem to happen in Chrome...kinda wonder if it is just a Firefox issue
Try to disable any extensions you have turned on.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask but I think it is?
Is there a quick way for me to throw one of my characters I made outside of my campaign (but in the app) in to my Campaign (as DM) so that I can give it to a player via having it as an unassigned character?
Or do I have to just create it from scratch again inside the campaign?
Ok I figured it out.
Then answer is yes.
I just used my own join link with my app on the phone, selected my character I wanted to give, and then had to scroll to the very bottom where it has a join with the character option. (In case anyone finds this and has the same question)
if I'm in a campaign with shared content, and I leave the campaign, does my character lose access to the content they have through the campaign? like will I lose my subclass?
The character keeps whatever it has (and continue leveling up with said subclass) but you won't be able to add content that you personally don't have access to.
noice, thank you
Looks like there is a bug in the Actions tab related to Extra Attack and the Fighter class when multiclassing. It will only show 2 Attacks per Action, even if the Fighter class has gained the Two Extra Attack feature.
This only occurs if the Fighter class is the second class taken in character creation. So Barb 2 / Fighter 11 is wrong, showing 2 Attacks per Action, but Fighter 11 / Barb 2 will show 3 Attacks per Action.
The Features & Traits tab correctly shows the number of attacks as 3 under Extra Attack. It is only Actions that is wrong.
I’ve passed that along to the devs. Thanks!
hey guys, is there a way to add rage bonus to my rolls in D&D Beyond ? if not what would be the best work around?
For a 2024 barb, you can click the Rage feature on your sheet and then use the sidebar to add/remove the bonus.
But that option isn’t yet available for the 2014 barb.
oh alright, i have a 2014 barbarian
A popular workaround then is to use a homebrew magic item. Just equip it when Rage starts and unequip when it ends.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/dungeons-dragons-discussion/homebrew-house-rules/76575-how-to-homebrew-your-own-buff-system#c4
thank you, i will look it up
anyone knows how to replace the slashing damage from a homebrew sword in D&D beyond?
its cuz Im trying to create a homebrew sword that deals necrotic damage but it just shows up as regular slashing damage due to the base weapon being a longsword
add modifier
replace damage type
whatever you want
which one is gonna replace the slashing damage?
whatever type you put in
lemme show you rq hold on
should look like that
it replaces the base damage with whatever subtype you put in, while leaving all your other modifiers as whatever you put for those, so your necrotic and piercing ones won't get changed
it didnt work
Homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to appear on your sheet.
ohhhh ok
To claim Hold Back the Dead do I need to buy it for 0.00 ?
Or can I just claim it somewhere ?
The Marketplace is the only place to get it at present, yes.
When I buy a digital manual and I'm french, will I get a translation whenever it'll go out or not at all ?
Can the growth effect potion effect demicalargic collosus ??
Is there a way to apply an unearthed Arcana subclass to the character creator?
i have a question about the race builder,
i have been trying to make a race that gives a proficiency at 1st level than another at level 5 but I'm unsure how to build that without making an entirely new trait that is a proficiency at level 5
anyone know what happens when you don't recieve a redemption code with your purchase? Bought the monster manual bundle and nada
Check your purchases/order history - it may be in there.
If not, contact Customer Support - http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
it appears only on https://dndstore.wizards.com/ and then when I go to Manage > Unlock the Activation key, and it brings me to the page with instructions. Which simply have a link to the page where you enter your product key. But I don't have a product key, and it doesnt actually say it anywhere
"lick the Instructions button for each product and read the installation guide carefully.
When applicable, use the Download button to proceed with the download of your product and the Unlock the activation key button to reveal the activation key, serial number or license linked to your product." - There is no download button..
I’d recommend contacting customer service here, then:
https://dnd-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=8640713998484
There hasn’t been any mention of a French (or any other) translation coming to DDB, so no one knows.
This channel is for getting technical help with D&D Beyond, not for game questions.
(I’m also not sure what a demicalargic collosus is…)
You can try creating it as a homebrew subclass.
I was worried about that because I’m a bum XD thanks tho
If you get stuck along the way, folks here are happy to help.
But I’d start with just adding the subclass features at the right levels, each with a Snippet and Description.
(The Snippet is the shortened rules text displayed directly on the character sheet.)
Yeah, I’d add a separate feature for it at level 5. You can set it to hide that feature so it doesn’t display anything other than the added proficiency.
Alternatively, I think you could use an Option in the existing feature if you mark it as Granted and set it to level 5.
ill take a look at the options
though a second question i have is that when i finish the build the details page is listing 2 separate headings for race traits what can i use to prevent that
Is there even a dnd help lol
Lvl 14 path of the giant barberian feature
There's a channel for rules questions and discussion: #dnd-rules
Thanks
just a check on that ^^ if ive got more than one chara in a campaign, can I remove one of the characters only? or do i have to remove all charas to remove one?
Edit for anyone curious: The leave button solely affects the character you click it for
assumedly by the leave button or somesuch
You can remove individual characters from a campaign without leaving the campaign for all. I do it all the time. Just click on Leave Campaign on your characters page for one of the characters and not the other.
I am unable to choose chronurgy, despite having the wildemont campaign and crit role enabled on the character sheet
Can't use wildemount or any partnered content except for Saddlebags content with 2024 as of right now
so what do i disable to get chronurgy?
Nothing, you just cant use it period rn
Since the partner (Matt Mercer) hasnt given a greenlight
np
since 2024 came out.
Thank you
I’ve been trying to sign in to my DDB account on Opera via my phone but I just get a blank screen once I select the gmail account I want to sign in with, any fixes?
a question i have is that when i finish the homebrew species build the details page and in my homebrew races page is listing 2 separate headings for race traits what can i use to prevent that
Hello, so anytime I try and learn certain spells this image pops up. Any fix for this?
Hello all. I'd just like to confirm that there is no way to receive the Hold Back the Dead free PDF without giving over my phone number, address and credit card information? Could any member of staff confirm that or offer an alternative? Thanks in advance!
At this time, the only way to claim it is through the current process through the DnDBeyond Marketplace.
Alright then, I'll skip it. Thank you so much for the quick response though!
Just to clarify: it can still be used by switching to the 2014 Wizard class.
Is that blank screen on a Google page or a DDB one? Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
Google page. Same problem on my iPad, no problems on my PC
No problems on Brave
Haven’t tested Safari or Google
If it’s getting stuck on a Google page, you may need to contact Google for help.
Ouf…
Can you share a screenshot? Not sure what you’re describing here.
Do you get the same issue for other characters or just this one? Does the same thing happen in another browser or on another device?
So just this character, not my other. And this does happen on the mobile app as well.
If you make a copy of that character, does the same thing happen to the copy?
Energy Bow is fixed!
@sage karma @eager crescent
Woot. Thank you. 😄
who would i talk to about reporting a potential issue with humblewood tales?
What kind of issue?
hexshredder is not appearing as an invocation option.
Those invocations aren’t yet available for the 2024 Warlock.
Legacy Warlock Invocations aren't supported for the 2024 Warlock. We're working on supporting backward compatibility for Legacy Invocations, but we don't have an ETA.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/214799-humblewood-tales-bug-and-support?comment=1
But it should show up for a 2014 Warlock if you have Humblewood enabled for that character and have selected Pact of the Blade as your Pact Boon.
... wonderful so much for back compatability
That statement of backwards compatibility is for the rules as printed, not for how they're implimented across various digital toolsets (including but not limited to D&D Beyond)
Fixed!
Thank you! I verified on my testcase and had to de-lvl the Fighter then re-lvl them back up to get it to register. But I can confirm that a Barb 2 / Fighter 11 does show 3 Attacks per Action on the Actions tab.
Reporting a bug. My wizard’s spell DC won’t copy over for Evocation Savant and Spell Mastery. Please help.
The +5 bonuses from my magical items are not being added.
So in D&D Beyond, how do players see what the DM rolls, whether its for a creature in combat or some other roll outside of combat? Is the only way to either do it inside the Encounter Tool in D&D Beyond or to create a character in the campaign that is the "DM"?
You can right click/long press on the roll boxes and choose weather it's to self or everyone as the DM
Hi I have a freshly created character I've never used that has a random -5 modifier and I don't know why. I can't find in any of my information why it's happening. I even created the character again from scratch and it happened again.
A -5 modifier for what?
Can you share a link to that character? (Make sure in your character settings that Character Privacy is set to Public as well.)
No, even if I copy the character it still happens.
The Lord of the Rings 5e seems to be missing a massive map (that comes with the physical copy of the game). Would be nice to have a digital scan of it, similar to Dragonlance 5e, including a map for it, since we purchased it. You'd think you'd get like for like.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/216063-bug-lord-of-the-rings-missing-map
The physical copy of the game comes with a large map (not attached to the book). I don't see any downloads for said map on the Digital version of Lord of the...
I dunno if this is the right channel for this but does anyone know where to get the new corebooks since I live in Australia? The DnD beyond store for the physical bundle only ships UK, Europe and America/Canada
Why is the Panther statblock (and likely others) so different from the 2024 PHB to the 2024 MM?
In my handbook it's got Pounce and Prowl. On the dndbeyond website (while I wait for the MM to release on Foundry) it only has Rend.
I will point out that the printed PHB differs from the digital PHB so it is likely that the printed version will get an errata. The digital PHB’s Panther and the digital MM’s Panther are both identical.
One thing worth noting is that the listing is showing different numbers like their Stealth being +7 in the sources but only +6 in the listing.
How can I choose to change my Agonizing Blast from Eldritch Blast to True Strike? I can't seem to find the option.
That's not currently possible.
I'd just leave the choice unselected, and then manually add the bonus to True Strike.
Fixed!
Is this “used charges” text supposed to be there?
@uneven lantern Hi. The evocation savant and the spell mastery spells are not recognizing the bonuses from the magical items. Can this be fixed?
Yes, this is to account for the one free use per Long Rest.
I think this is due to a separate bug for those Savant features. They should be adding the spell to the spellbook rather than directly to the sheet. Once that's fixed, I imagine this part should work as expected.
Ok. Will manually fix in customize for now.
Is it the same situation for the Spell Mastery?
Apologies for pinging spamandtuna, I didn’t see rising dusk’s message
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/137526393 It's the one in constitution. I have no idea where it is coming from - Earth genasi get a +1 to Strength and Constitution so I tried to use that to try and "rebuild" the character from scratch to see if that would help, but that didn't help.
When you look at it in the app it is also in blue, whereas everything else is in white. Which once again I have no idea what that means. I tried to contact DNDBeyond support about it but they said they didn't help with rule problems, but I haven't even played (I am a complete newcomer.)
You have the con score set to be overrode to be 1. So that is where the -5 is coming from. If you remove that over ride it should fix it
Omg you're incredible, how would I change that?
Just click on your Con score and you will see that box on the right of your screen. You should then be able to clear that box out
I will say that my experince is only with the website and not the mobile app if you are using that
It went right back
You may have it open in multiplate places. Try making sure you have that you don't have that character open on multiple devices or in different web tabs
Yeah it just went right back. I'm also not really sure how adjusting my modifier by one will fix a -5
The modifier is derived from the score. If your score is 1 (because you've overriden it to be 1), then your modifier will always be -5.
You'll need to delete the number in the override box if you don't want it to be overridden. That box should be empty.
Not sure if this is the correct room for this question. I am trying to update my source library and it won't let me buy any legacy books. Ok, cool, but where can i find all of the previously allowed races, subraces, spells, feats, classes/sub classes etc.? Are they all in the new 2024 Phb? I tried to VgtM and there is no option to even buy it.
Volo and Tome of Foes arent available for purchase
But have they transfered all of the races etc. into another book? Or I just can't play them anymore.
most of the content from those books are reprinted in Monsters of the Multiverse
and also updated there
Ok, so one book to rule them all (lol). I will check out the MotM. Sadly i hadn't bought them and wanted to expand my options for a new campaign.
What about any Feats and Spells from the legacy material? Any luck replacing those?
I think the only case where you're truly out of luck is Rick & Morty.
MTOF and VGTM were combined into Monsters of the Multiverse.
LMOP was updated in Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk.
HOTDQ and ROT were combined into Tyrrany of Dragons.
Everything else should still be available as its initial release.
If I buy the "2024 Digital & Physical Core Rulebook Bundle" from the marketplace, but already own a digital version of one of the books, do I still pay the full 180 bucks?
The bundle really just adds all the individual items to your cart.
If you proceed through checkout with all six items included, then you'd pay the full cost.
Though it'll probably make you do a gift checkout in this scenario.
is there any word on the possibility of a 2024 encounter builder option to not use the inbuilt maps feature? I run physical tabletop but I reallly loved the 5e encounter builder. It's a shame that it's baked into the maps system.
yeah I wanna chose to use 2014 rules or 2024 rules within the normal encounter builder
Same. I found it such a helpful tool for my campaign so I’m saddened to see it gone for 2024
Anyone knows when to get the best deals for books on dnd beyond?
holidays
in the item homebrew section, how do i set the min and max thrown range?
To play as a torlte in D&D Beyond, is it required that I buy the Monsters of the Multiverse book, or could I just buy this instead?
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/category/SRC-00028
The version of the tortle species in Monsters of the Multiverse is an updated version of the species, compared to the original (legacy) version in The Tortle Package.
Do you know any of the differences offhand?
Aside from the general changes to species (size choice of Small or Medium, language options instead of default languages), the skill proficiency now lets you choose from a small list instead of just getting Survival.
Plus some wording changes to some features, I think
Oki. Thanks!
Maps: my DM is getting the Monster Manual 2024 shared to him by me, but he can't use for example these 2024 versions of monsters within the Maps tool. Does anyone know what causes this?
They're greyed out for some reason for him
Does this mean that the DM has to own the source material in order to use the monster in Maps? If so, that's kind of backwards
some of the MM2024 content work for him though, seems to be very mixed.
Some of it is in the Free Rules, that's probably what he's seeing.
This is the reason. The DM needs to own the content in maps currently. Not sure if this is a bug or if it is intentional, but it is what it is.
Shared content doesn't work in maps. The DM must own it themselves.
Not sure why maps works this way, but I also request content sharing to work with maps.
Why can’t I see Kenders, Verdan, or Grung within the Character builder, but can look at them in their respective sources and on the species page?
Have you purchased the books those species are in, or is your character assigned to a campaign where those are shared with you?
Do you have Expanded Rules enabled for that character, to see Kender and Verdan? Or Legacy enabled for Grung?
They’re free, and I downloaded them
I have all rules enabled
Hey, all, i'm struggling to work out this feat. I wanna make a homebrew feat that increases their con by 1 (including the maximum), but I can't figure out what combination of modifiers to put on the feat to make it work
Those books are not free. If you were able to download them in the app without paying for them, it's because someone in one of your campaigns is sharing them with you.
Shared character options can only be used for characters assigned to the campaign that's sharing them.
, I’ve used the shared campaign they were from, and I still can’t see them-
Who in that campaign has purchased those books? Are you in more than one campaign with Content Sharing enabled?
I think you'd need...
- Type: Stacking Bonus
- Subtype: Constitution score
- Fixed Value: 1
But you could try making a homebrew copy of an existing feat that does it, like one of the Epic Boon feats, if you want to peek inside and find out how those did it.
I believe the DM, and I’m in multiple. Maybe I have to try other campaigns I’m in?
thanks i'll try it
Keep in mind that homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to appear on the sheet, too.
bro that's crazy
yeah dang i just had to wait a bit...
One of the players in my campaign has lost most of the Aberrant Mind spells from an old character. It was created a couple of years ago when I had content sharing active, I have most of the 2014 player options unlocked, but he only has the basic rules.
He's just levelled it up for a sequel game we're playing and four of the seven Psionic Spells from the subclass have disappeared. The rest of the subclass is still there under Features and Traits, and the level 6 Psychic resistance has been added to Defenses, but the spells are missing from the Spells and Features and Traits tabs.
I have tried removing and re-adding the subclass through my campaign but it makes no difference. If I make a new AM Sorc on my account the spells are added correctly.
As I understand it, characters created with content sharing should keep all their features even when content sharing has ended, so any idea what is happening here.
He’ll need to have access to those spells for them to show up.
Hey can anyone help with a coding issue i am having with a homebrew monster? I got the coding for one attack to work but for whatever reason can not get this other one to work.
Can you share a screenshot of what you have?
@dense viper
I thought features like spells were kept when content sharing is removed? Has that changed?
Try adding a semicolon here, and removing the line break.
What's assigned to the character is the subclass, not the spells.
So then when the subclass says to show the spells, and your player doesn't have access to those spells, they don't get shown.
I was hoping that would work since it was missing but no luck. Still having the same issue.
Which of the four rolls there are you having trouble with, then?
Pretty sure its the damage roll. The character sheet shows the bonus to hit but nothing for damage.
Try this copy and pasting this: or typing it out as is
[rollable]+3;{"diceNotation":"1d20+3", "rollType":"to hit", "rollAction":"Greatsword"}[/rollable] to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 10 [rollable]2d6 + 3;{"diceNotation":"2d6 + 3", "rollType":"roll", "rollAction":"Greatsword"}[/rollable] slashing damage.
Which damage roll?
For future refence there is a button in the homebrew monster maker that will add rollable dice blocks automatically. Its the last one on the 2nd row of buttons. Kinda looks like a calculator
I could never get the dice blocks to work.
You have to select what you are wanting it to make the rolls for then hit that button. Then afterwards there is another button to hit.
I'm sure that's how it works on the backend, and is therefore the cause of the bug, but it is explicitly part of the subclass that those spells are learnt. If they don't have those spells then they don't have the complete subclass.
These spells were on the character sheet before and have now been removed. Either something's wrong (and needs to be reported/fixed), or we've been misinformed about character sheets remaining unchanged when content sharing stops (something I've seen stated multiple times on here & the forums).
I am an idiot. I knew it was going to be something simple that gummed it up. one of my } symbols was supposed to be ]
Got it figured out. Thanks for the help
Well i missed it too until you said something
I appreciate the help anyway. I was getting a headache trying to figure it out.
Was building a character yesterday and discovered that the species-specific feats Elven Advantage and Drow High Magic now show that the 2024 elf Species does not meet their prerequisites. I did manage to add them, but that seems like a strange oversight
Yeah, that’s a known issue (but I’ve let them know it came up again).
Hi, I had a question ⁉️ regarding homebrew subclasses and charges.
My subclass has a feature that's in short words.
"You gain 1 + your wizard level in charges." per long rest. I had thought this was the way to do it. Every level I would need to add another Level Scaling which isn't an issue. But the charges don't appear on the character sheet. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
** (( Please ping me with a response )) **
Sounds like you’ve got the right idea.
Was this originally part of the subclass or did you add it in afterward? Homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to appear on your sheet.
The initial one didn't appear on the sheet, then I edited. I;ll check again.
When will we be able to add 2024 monsters as Summonable 'Extras' on our sheets?
You can already.
Even after waiting, hasn't worked the way I wanted 😦 don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Oh! Sorry, it’s not Level Scale.
You need to give your feature an Action.
You need to give your Action a Reset Type.
Then after you save it, you’ll see a section at the bottom called Limited Use.
You’ll need to fill in that section using the same approach as before.
AH huh! okay, it's working now.
Furthermore, if I want that to scale per level (increasing by 1 each level) do I just do it like so and if I do, the second one will replace the ealier ones and not stack them (giving me 9 charges instead)
Yeah, the level 4 one completely replaces the level 3 one.
Okay. Awesome. Thank you for the help! I'll just need to create the limited uses for each level up to 20.
Another question. If I want to replicate the tough feat within a subclass feature.
Subclass feature > Modifiers > As pictured
?
Seems right
But you could make a homebrew copy of Tough if you want to look inside and see exactly how they set it up.
Anyone elses Blood Hunter character sheet scuffed? It wont let me assign and learn spells
What happens when you try, exactly?
In our campaign, I got a Bowl of Commanding Water Elementals, so I’m trying to add the 2024 Water Elemental to my Extras. I can only see the 2014, despite owning the new Monster Manual.
I'm struggling to make a homebrew class (or subclass), I want to replace a fighting style for fighter.
I've managed to make a homebrew subclass, but I'm not seeing any of that subclass's features in the character.
I've managed to select the "martial archetype", but it's not seeing the details.
I tried to delete the homebrewed subclass - but somehow it still exists in teh character - and I can still select the deleted subclass, etc, it's weird.
How do I "refresh" the subclass list in a character?
In "Mantle of Majesty" for the College of Glamour Bard, the "Command" spell it sources to is the Legacy version rather than 2024.
Also, how do I record Hero points? (DMG 2014, page 264)
Looks like it's eventually refreshed the list.
If i modify the subclass in homebrew does it change in the characters? (Because it didn’t when i tried but now i wonder if it was just slow…)
I am in character creation in DDB and have the Strixhaven Curriculum of Chaos book purchased, but cannot see any of the Strixhaven backrgounds available? Help!
Do you have it enabled in the sources for the character?
yeṣ i just refreshed my page and voila its there!? o_O
It shows up fine for me.
Are you able to access it here?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/5195261-water-elemental
Did you purchase the MM yourself, or is your character assigned to a campaign where that book is shared with you?
Creating a homebrew class isn’t currently possible. I’d recommend leaving your Fighting Style choice unselected, then adding yours as a homebrew feat instead.
The other issues you’re having are likely because homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to appear on the sheet.
Oooh that explains it!
And for this one, there isn’t a built-in option, but you can write it in the Notes section on your sheet.
I've passed that on to the devs for review. Thanks!
Any further response on this? I don't believe it's working as intended as:-
A) We've been told that existing characters are should be unchanged when character sharing ends, so I wouldn't expect spells to be removed.
B) It doesn't make sense to allow the subclass but not the spells that are part of it. If it's not supposed to be available I'd expect both to be removed.
C) He still has at least one other spell from TCE available (one of his chosen spells, not granted by a feature), which he wouldn't have if he couldn't see content he doesn't own.
D) I can go into his character (as its in my campaign) and add any of the content I own, it's just this subclass feature that doesn't work.
I definitely think this is a bug that needs to be reported/fixed.
If it is correct however then we need a proper explanation somewhere about what happens when content sharing ends, as previous messaging has obviously not been clear.
The FAQ states : "The characters will be unaffected until they are updated. If, for example, a player removes a feat that you previously shared with them, then the feat cannot be reapplied to the character sheet."
so if what's missing is something that would have been granted after leveling up, then that would explain the issue
I've ran into that bug with Savant features: my 2 free spells are "always prepared" instead of just added to the spellbook, throwing off my actual vs allowed prepared spells count.
Is there any user-facing bug tracking for ddb? I'd like to upvote ⬆️ for a fix, or at least follow for updates.
Is D&DBeyond down? It’s giving me “Page Not Found” when I try to save my monster or reload the page.
It's the level 1 "Psionic Spells" subclass feature, which he hasn't touched. All he's done is increased the class level from 5 to 6 and chosen a new spell to learn. The feature is still there, but it's no longer granting all the spells. Other spells he'd learnt, but doesn't own, are still there. I can also go in as DM and add spells I own but he doesn't. It's just this one feature that is no longer working.
I could understand if everything that he doesn't own had been removed when he levelled up, although that's not how it's been described to work in the past and would hopefully come with a warning. It's the fact that everything else has stayed except this one feature that points to it being a bug.
So I just bought a digital book as a gift for a friend on D&D Beyond, made sure to tick off the box and everything and after I finished checking out it even said it was a gift. I was told after buying it I should get a code. Well I just checked my email and it just confirmed that I bought it but I got no code. I'm confused, what am I missing here? 🤷♂️
Oh wait, think I found it. Is the product key under the Gifts tab what I need to give to my friend?
Yes.
hello! would i be able to get help for project sigil in here?
That would be #sigil-vtt-archive
appreciated did NOT see that
I need help please I can't get into my account to get my charactes
Display settings completely broken on my iPad app. Not sure if it’s happening to anyone else?
WorksForMe, on my iPad.
Thanks for reporting. I see what I can do on my end then.
Login to DnDBeyond is provided by Google, Apple, or Wizards of the Coast. You'll need to work with whatever login provider you've selected to login to DnDBeyond. Make sure to disable any VPNs/ad-blockers as these can interfere with it.
Spells have always been the exception as far as losing access to content goes, ever since they moved from a single silo character sheet service to a multi silo service years back. Back when they did UA, whenever UA got officially released (and the UA version removed) the announcement would specify you'd keep any UA content except spells, for which you'd have to make your own copies for.
This isn't a bug, it's content sharing working for the spell service as intended
(Note that I'm not trying to invalidate any dissatisfaction you have with this, although that'd probably be something for #ddb-feedback, just pointing out that it's not unexpected behaviour)
Do you know if this is documented anywhere? I've never seen it mentioned before when questions have been asked about content sharing.
From a customer pov I would expect some sort of consistency in how these things are handled. As I mentioned, he still has access to other spells from TCE that he doesnt own, it's just the subclass ones that have gone. It's also no longer possible for me to add to his sheet, unlike the rest of the content I own.
If they do have a weird exception where you can keep everything except subclass spells then it needs to be clearly mentioned in the FAQs as it basically means you can't use the subclass (without homebrew).
I believe it was mentioned in the forum posts pertaining to the various UA content releases being archived, but those are ancient
Maybe make a #ddb-feedback post suggesting the FAQ be clarified?
Any advice for the Armorer Subclass of the Artificer? Magic Ironman is probably my favorite, but there is no option to designate an Arcane Armor for a later ability where you can have two extra infusions activated.
I imagine the nexessary thing to do would be to just add them manually.
When you're adding infusions, there's a button at the top you can use to add beyond the normal limit.
Must have missed that. Thank you!
Fixed!
Thank you!
ohhhh it's because I don't own the book yet; it's just content shared. Guess I'll have to buy it haha
If it's not shared in the campaign where you got the bowl, then yeah.
Yep, open any character and press-and-hold the dice button in the bottom right
Alternatively, click the gear in the top right left, then select My Dice.
That option doesn't appear to be present on android
At least not on any screen I can find
There's no gear on the character sheet, or no dice option when you click the gear?
It’s been a while since I last made a whole new character, but what happened to all the backgrounds? Specifically, where did the Sailor background disappear to??
Scroll down towards Legacy
Nope. I coulda sworn I had it! I think I did the thing DNDB used to have where you could buy individual parts of the book, like certain backgrounds and species.
I think I should still be able to access those bits I paid for, but apparently not :/
Can confirm that the source (PHB 2014) is shared with me so I should have access to this background, but for whatever reason, I don’t. Weird.
Are you making the character in the campaign
No, that’s what I’m going to try next. My previous understanding was that once content is shared, it’s shared everywhere. Guess not
Hi! I made a post in the support thread for it but I'm having trouble gaining access to Monstrous Compendium Vol 2. I just started a Dragonlance campaign and would love access to the stat blocks in the compendium. When I access its page on the marketplace, it just says "promotion is no longer available". Is it going to be available to claim or purchase, or am I doing something wrong?
Unless you were able to claim it form when it was being passed around, yer out of luck
unfortunate
If content is shared you can read it on any device but to use it on a character that character has to be in the campaign it is shared through.
Shared character creation content is only usable on characters in the campaign the content is being shared in.
What @dense viper said. 🙂
I made a campaign on DnD Beyond, and I have a character already made (I ported him over from Roll20) that I'd like to join the campaign I just made. I can't seem to do it on the site. Is there a pro-tip I should try?
It's clearer for the players. Basically see the campaign invite link? Yes, you have to do that as well, as if you're the player. Follow it.
Thank you both!
Just checking in after a while again, is there a way to disable 2024 stuff yet?
Disable? No. But you can choose 2014 options.
I've requested they make the difference more obvious, however I doubt they'll let you disable it entirely.
Danged
Where is the feedback tab in maps itself?
Open up Maps and in the right side of the there is a feedback toggle.
I'm having to troubleshoot a character in my campaign.
I need everything to be 2014 rules. I have a "Half-Elf fighter", how can I tell which rules level it is?
You'll need to go into the builder (as if you were levelling up the character) and check which class was picked. You can tell by the icon
= 2014 version
= 2024 version
Thanks.
What's the default encumberance style used by the 2014 rules in ddb?
The rules state that there's a default, simplified, and an optional "variant encumberance" rule.
I'm confused about the weight, the ddb seems to show a character as having 67.5 pounds.
But it should be closer to 129 pounds, why is it not including the pack weight?
That sounds more like a #dnd-rules question and not a question about the toolset of dnd beyond
Possibly. I'd say there's significant overlap in that question. Other VTT's show the sum.
Also if the check mark by the container isnt checked to be equipped then ddb doesn't add the weight to the character
There’s no “Default” or “Simplified”. Not sure where you got that idea.
@uneven lantern, let me find the section names.
“Use Encumbrance” follows the normal rules for Lifting and Carrying:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/basic-rules-2014/using-ability-scores#LiftingandCarrying
“Variant Encumbrance” follows the variant rules directly below that.
Page 176, PHP 2014: "Lifting and Carrying". That's the default. Then in the next section, you get "Variant: Encumberance".
Ok, so I'm going to interpret that as "Use encumberance" meaning the non-variant option?
And “No Encumbrance” does not apply any penalties based on carried weight.
Ok, gotcha.
And if your pack isn’t included, it probably isn’t equipped.
Oooh!
Bingo, that's what it was.
So I'm guessing if it's not equipped... It's been put on the ground somewhere.
That’s the idea, yeah.
Or if you add something like a cart, that isn’t ever carried to begin with.
That's nice, I don't think the other VTT I'm uisng has that functionality coded so that's pretty cool.
How do I roll a dice in the app "for everyone"?
By default, if I do a strength roll as an example in the website, it's shown for everyone.
But not for the app.
Long press on the roll thing and you should get a menu that let's you roll at advantage or disadvantage and if you roll to self or everyone.
Thanks - that was it!
Can you remove tool proficiencies from a character somehow?
I mean, presumably by editing the sheet and removing the selection wherever you have the tool proficiency chosen? (Though it might be more complicated if you're getting a particular proficiency automatically from a subclass or background, rather than manually choosing which tool proficiency to take.)
Hello,
On DnDBeyond, when i launch an encounter, the initiatives my player characters launch with the app is not automatically set in the encounter anymore (it worked well a year ago).
Is there a reason for that ?
If you're talking about the Encounter Builder, that never automatically set initiative. Either the DM had to click "Auto Roll Initiative" or the players had to individually roll
I seem to be having an issue with my licensing. I bought the sourcebook bundle forever ago and periodically pick up the new sourcebooks as they come out. But I do not have access to all of my content when in character creation.
See the attached collage for any necessary information. My ddb account is the same as my discord name. I think the accounts are linked as well.
Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
it appears so
Hello - How do I get 2014 spells to show in my char sheet? I cannot get the 2024 versions removed
For the 2014 version you have to make sure you have the 2014 core rules turned on. And possiblely the legacy toggle as well.
You can't turn off the 2024 rules
So for a spell like Sleep - Is there a way for me to ensure the 2014 version gets added to my char? I have those things checked
I have legacy checked and core rules checked and whatnot. But on my Bard spell list, I only see 2024 versions. Can't see anything else
I have even rebuilt homebrew versions of some 2014 spells and I can't see those either.
You’ve selected the 2024 Cleric and confused Divine Order with Divine Domain.
2024 Clerics choose their subclass at level 3.
As do all 2024 classes.
ugh but i dont want to use a 2024 cleric.... i want to use a 2014 cleric... 0 stars... well that i think solved that.
That still doesnt explain why I dont have all the sourcebooks i've purchased listed in the licensing section in ddb..
Hello, is there a way I can choose a 2024 artificer in dnd beyond?
No, DDB doesn't offer UA in the tools
You'll have to wait until the final version releases
So change it to the 2014 Cleric instead.
Pick
instead of
.
Same here. If you’re using the 2024 Bard, you’ll only see 2024 spells.
You can either switch to the 2014 Bard (
), or make a homebrew copy of 2014’s Sleep and make that available for 2024 Bard.
Minor graphical glitch I noticed on the website. This is present in both chrome and Firefox
Sorry, what’s the issue there?
Maybe upload a proper screenshot instead of a photo of your screen and it might be easier to see what the issue is
See that vertical white bar towards the left of the “species” illustration?
Are you sure?
Yes
Oh ok I see. Sorry about that!
What do you mean by “move time”?
Probably to recover the used effect as it says used at the end. Which likely is just, long rest button.
hi, is there a link to the 2024 MM Errata? I have a friend who owns the book but not the Digital copy, and as such has not seen the corrections and I was wanting to show them to him.
You can find the current list at the end of this post:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/215241-monster-manual-issues-and-support-thread#c1
thank you very much 🙂
Any idea why my character sheet isn't leveling up after I just leveled up the character? It even shows her as level 8 in the character select screen, but when the sheet comes up it's still the previous level. Tried reloading and relaunching the app several times now.
And yes, both the character and class levels have been set to 8.
It's very frustrating.
Here's what I'm seeing in my settings versus what I'm seeing in my character sheet:
Have you tried checking this in the web browser?
Made a copy of the character. That seemed to fix it. 🤷♂️
Does Humblewood Tales on DDB include the additional warlock invocations?
Also, I'm messing around with the ability score improvement for level 8, just to see what the bonuses will look like, but no matter what I choose, it won't update my character sheet.
Hey a question about the mobile app- can i make a custom stat block on the website and then somehow use it to roll dice in the app with the correct modifiers triggering ? My character doesn't follow the rules so i'm wondering how i might still make a usable version of it on DDB. Perhaps as an NPC encounter or somesuch ?
Not really as DnDBeyond expects and uses the official D&D classes (minor exception: Bloodhunter class but that is an exception).
Homebrew can add on to that but again it would need to follow official D&D rules/expectations.
You can look into using gsheet and Avrae (D&D Discord bot) to try something a bit more customized but even that has limitations.
I have found after making changes, it helps to hit next, next, next, and view character sheet. If you skip those steps, I have noticed Beyond saving changes as a draft instead of updating the sheet. This sounds like the problem you are having.
They’ll work on the 2014 Warlock, but not the 2024 one yet.
New Warlock Invocations
Hexshredder. Designating the bestial claws as a Pact Weapon is currently unsupported.2024 Warlock. Legacy Warlock Invocations aren't supported for the 2024 Warlock. We're working on supporting backward compatibility for Legacy Invocations, but we don't have an ETA.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/214799-humblewood-tales-bug-and-support
Alright, thanks
It's a weird point of balance (unless i misunderstood something when messing around with it) since on the website i was able to make the homebrew stat block that i wanted and add it as a Monster in an Encounter into the Campaign and then use it's stat block to roll dice with the desired modifiers and on the app i could see those rolls but i couldn't actually make rolls on the app.
The mobile app does not let you use and roll from homebrew monster statblocks.
i'm now seeing that the actual character sheets on DDB have some "hidden" customization options so perhaps i'll just conform to the limits set by those.
It may be worth providing feedback in #ddb-feedback - break it down into what the need is and how you'd like things to work to meet that need.
If i end up actively interacting with it then i'll likely give some feedback, yes. Right now i feel a bit like a tourist.
I am "giving" a character to another player in my campaign.
However, I have a personal limit of 6 since I'm using the free account.
Once they claim that character, will it be removed from my 6?
Great!
It appears that i am unable to buy volos guide to monsters now, since its legacy
what am i supposed to do when i desire something from that book?
Hello,
I'm currently in a campaign where the DM has Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, but I am unable to choose Pact of the Genie for my warlock. Is there a setting similar to enabling Magic Content for College of Eloquence, or are we missing something? I can't find the Genie option under either 2024 or 2014 Warlock rules
You can find the latest version of everything from VGTM (and MTOF) in MOTM instead.
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/all-rulebooks/mordenkainen-presents-monsters-of-the-multiverse?pid=SRC-00085
Do you have Expanded Rules enabled for that character?
Yes
Account Entitlements

The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
right so the issue is that MoTM changed Aasimar
i have a player wanting to use the volos version
I cannot speak for sure, but I suspect if you are using VGTM in your campaign, at least someone should already own it. If sharing is on and the owner of the content is in the campaign, you may be able to access it that way. If noone owns it, you're probably out of luck.
i am the dm and the only one sharing
I’m afraid only the version in MOTM and the 2024 PHB are available for purchase.
thats awesome
If they’ve got the physical book, they could use the homebrew system to recreate that species.
Yep! everything is synced up
I’m not sure then. That should be all there is to it.
I assume Content Sharing is enabled for the campaign, correct? Does the person who enabled it still have an active subscription? They can check on the same page linked before.
And does your DM (or anyone else in the campaign) see that book on the same page as well, under Current Product Licenses?
Yup I just went and asked them to 2x check.
Hi, all. Never really done this before, but my Paladin reach second level, and I'm supposed to be able to select Blessed Warrior, but the dropdown only provides the fighting styles options
How does the Encounter summary work?
In particular, I have three players, plus another unassigned character.
I'm surprised that despite having FOUR characters, it regards six kobolds as "hard". Perhaps that's right, but what I want to clarify, is whether that's including the unassigned character or not.
Ok, having gone over the calculations, I think it's including the unassigned character. Cool!
Assuming this is a
2014 Paladin, you may need to...
- Purchase TCOE, or have your character assigned to a campaign where that book is shared.
- Open your character settings and enable "Expanded Rules" and "Optional Class Features" for that character.
- Go to the Class tab, select "Optional Feature Manager", and enable the "Fighting Style Options" feature.
(A
2024 Paladin shouldn't require any additional steps.)
Question: If I am subscribed at the Master level and purchase the 2024 player handbook, do those in my campaign have access to that material? Or do they also need to purchase the 2024 player handbook to use that material?
If you enable content sharing on the DnDBeyond campaign then yes, all content owned by folks in that campaign will be shared.
Hey does the DDB character sheet allow for, as an example, being a Level 1 Rogue and then manually adding Second Wind to that Level 1 Rogue ? Or adding a custom class feature that functions in the same way ? And then have the character sheet take it into consideration in all the math and dice rolling available in the character sheet ?
No. You could make a feat that replicates the effect though.
Is there a way to make it so the always-prepared spells for artificer subclasses are not the legacy versions?
Oh cool 🙂 Yeah i noticed that Feats could be added freely without any limit (unless they had some prerequisite). Thanks for the tip!
You can also disable needing the prerequisite if you need to.
You would probably need to make a homebrew copy of the subclass and link to the 2024 spells instead of the legacy versions.
Until an updated artificer is republished for the 2024 rules, in the meantime, you could make a homebrew copy of one of the older subclasses and simply update the spells linked to it, as suggested by @dense viper
Fixed!
This is a Paladin I just made a couple weeks ago. I own the 2024 Player’s Handbook
I have the Expanded Rules enabled. I don’t know what TCOE is.
Which Paladin class are you using, though?
or
?
If you want the one from the 2024 PHB, you need
, and then Blessed Warrior should just show up automatically.
If you've selected
and still don't see Blessed Warrior, then could you share a screenshot of the issue?
Heyo! So I purchased wildmout this weekend so that 1 of my fighters could go echo knight. I see the book in the list of shared content management, but neither of the 2 fighters in the campaign have access to the subclass. Any ideas?
Echo Knight currently works only on the 2014 Fighter
, not the 2024 Fighter
.
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
And for the 2014 Fighter, they’ll need to have Critical Role enabled for that character as well.
Yep I have made sure that all the legacy tags are turned on. I have the option to use echo knight on older characters that I have made outside of the campaign though
So your players did select the 2014 Fighter class? It shows
on their sheets?
Are their characters assigned to your campaign?
Are their entitlements in sync?

Yes
But which class did they select in the Class tab?
Yes I double check the license entitlement. Says I'm all synchronized
There’s two different Fighter classes that can be selected, and Echo Knight only works for one of them.
I see, let me see if I can engage that maneuver to test that
That was it, you're amazing thank you!
I'm new to the using the homebrew feature. Could I create an item bonus that allows the wearer to jump twice as high, and if so, what kind of modifier subtype would that be?
Also, how exactly do I access a homebrew item after creating it? I have homebrew turned on for my characters, but I'm not able to find it when I search for it.
i would need help from the ddbeyond support. Some days ago my phone ended broken. I tried to log in my computer today but even after having my mail back i cant access ddbeyond because my mail still ask me for a verification in my broken phone. Is there a way to contact support and ask for a mail change to be abble to access my acount again.
It's not letting me export my character as a pdf. When I do nothing is filled out
I don’t think there is one, since the jump height isn’t normally displayed on the sheet anyway.
So I’d just list it in the item’s description.
If you’ve already got Homebrew enabled, though, there might be a caching delay before the items show up.
Oki. Any answer to my second question tho? My items are added to my collection, but I'm having no luck looking them up in my character sheet.
They’re still missing now?
Let me see if I have any more luck looking them up in the app.
Looks like it is in the app. 😮
Yeah, it was probably just caching, then. Glad it’s there now!
You can contact customer support here:

This character is in a campaign. Could that have something to do with it?
Maybe? I don’t all the ins and out of how their cache is set up. 😅
I’d probably just wait and check a bit later, myself.
This might be due to the program you’re using to view the PDF. (Edge does this a lot.)
You could try opening it in another browser or in dedicated PDF software like Adobe Acrobat.

@uneven lantern Oh yeah, another thing: I'm trying to create a homebrew for an item my DM made up (he doesn't use D&D Beyond much), but I'm not sure how to add a modifier for his: "+5 strength checks for swimming and climbing."
The support site uses its own accounts, not your DDB one.
ic ic which of the options would be the most appropiate to use?
I’d do D&D Beyond Help, then Account Help.
Ok ty
That’s in basically the same spot as the jump one. There’s not really a space on the character sheet where that would be displayed, so there isn’t really an option for it.
I got it to work. Re downloaded Adobe I forgot I updated my system to windows 11
Oki. Thanks!
Question on Encounter Builder, I haven't found this in this forum or in the docs online... I like the convenience of the Encounter Builder however most of my players do not want to use the app during our game session, they just use the online tool to level up, generate PDFs of their character sheets etc. At game time they're rolling dice on the table & tracking things on paper. Is there a way for me to run an encounter and input everything manually as the DM - i.e. enter damage/healing to PCs as well as to enemies so I can see it there at a glance? I can only figure out how to do that for monsters, PCs seem read-only unless the players use the app and do things from their end.
Hello, I was wanting to DM a campaign but I prefer having a paper copy of the adventure I'm running. Is there any way to get PDFs of the adventures I own on Beyond? (Currently looking at "Lost Mine of Phandelver" if that makes a difference)
I don't believe there is an option for that. However, parts of adventures are available.
As an example, Hold Back the Dead which is currently free contains a link after each character that allows that character to be downloaded as a PDF. While not what you're looking for, it probaly demonstrates how DDB would distribute a PDF if it did allow it.
No, Wizards of the Coast does not provide any PDF versions of their official published D&D 5th edition books.
is there currently something going on with the dndbeyond homebrew?
For some reason, it just crashed for me just now while I was remaking some spells
Monsters and Weapons don't have this problem
Does anyone know why my payment method isn't going through when there isn't anything wrong with it, and now won't let me re-add it to my account?
Anyone else having this problem?
You will need to contact Customer Support for any issues with the store, payments, and subscriptions: http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
Did that already, been a couple days
Double check your spam filters just in case they've responded and it got caught there - if not hopefully CS will respond soon.
Whenever I print out a character sheet it’s not showing all my info about backstory’s and equipment how do I fix this
How much equipment is your character actually carrying? That seems weird that it isn't capturing it all (even if it puts it on the 2nd page under other equipment area).
As for long, long backstories it may be best to just copy and paste the story into a Docs/Word/text document and save that out and then for the sheet make a simplified bullet-point version for easier reference (DnDBeyond character sheets are not really made for super long content and will truncate things to fit when exported as a PDF or printed).
No I only have the paladin starting gear
What PDF viewer are you using? You might also try Adobe Acrobat to see if that helps.
Anyone having problems to buy the new Drakkenheim adventure in DndBeyond? I click to Next payment and nothing happens
My first guess would be that the address isn’t valid. I’d recommend double-checking that all the required fields are filled in.
If yer in Canada, filling in your Province could also be the solution
Even for a digital purchase?
Yeah
That migh be a dumb question, but there it goes, If i cast wish using the ring of three wishes, do i still get the negative effects?
Like the 3 base strengh?
#dnd-rules can help you with that one.
(This channel is for getting help with D&D Beyond.)
Has there been any update on fixing the 2024 paladin on beyond? It currently doesn't get it's spell list when using a subclass not in 2024 core rules and has been that way for some time.
Yes you can. First you have to turn on the 2014 core rules. Then in class selection you have to scroll down to the 2014 core rules
Oh awesome!
I have 2 days to make my partners pc with her, design a temple and a monastery
Just a heads up there was a problem when the change the Monk Martial dice for 2024 and as a result all Monks use the 2024 Martial dice
That's fine I just need 2014 cleric
And I really don't feel like using a book and doing it the old fashioned way
I've been having a major issue for a few months now. Certain images all across D&D Beyond just do not load, and seemingly at random they just disappear and don't show up again. Like for my character sheets, many of their picture icons are now just missing, and almost all of the character sheet backgrounds just show up as white and nothing else. I've tried removing all of the cookies from D&D Beyond and signing back in, but that doesn't fix it. The only time it did work was when I completely uninstalled my browser a few months back (Opera GX) and reinstalling it, but the problem just came back some time afterwards.
Like look at this
Almost all of my character sheets look like this. Even when I change the portrait to a different image or switch to a different background, eventually those just disappear too.
I don't believe OperaGX is officially supported by DnDBeyond (OperaGX does things to make the browser more "efficient" but at the cost of blocking needed scripts/functionality). See https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/articles/7747209347348-Supported-Browser-and-Mobile-OS-Versions
I'd suggest trying a different browser and seeing if things load correctly there.
Ok so yeah it works on Chrome
Then the issue likely lies in how OperaGX works.
has anyone been having similar issues when homebrewing subclasses for the 2024 classes? I've been trying to work out a cleric domain with it, but this same error message keeps preventing me from properly publishing it, even with the right amount of features tied to identical class levels as the rest
I might ask in #homebrew as well to see if others can help you pinpoint the issue
will do, thank ya
Do you own a book with the Artificer class in it?
The Artificer class is not part of the SRD (free stuff) so will not show up unless you own a book (like Tasha's Cauldron of Everything) that has that class in it.
Nope well then is there any alternative free classes I could use?
You could look through the homebrew on DnDBeyond for a subclass that captures "magical tinkerer" vibes perhaps? Or use a wizard or sorcerer class and get DM permission to allow them to be proficient in and use armor and be able to craft magical items like an artificer.
Ok then
As a DM, can i share my homebrew items with players if i don't have a subscription to DnD Beyond? Someone else in the party has a subscription, and has sharing turned on, and homebrew is turned on for the character
All homebrew is automatically shared in a DnDBeyond campaign, even unpublished homebrew (stuff that hasn't been made public for everybody on DnDBeyond to use). We also generally recommend not publishing homebrew until it's been thouroughly playtested because once published it can't be deleted (because others might use it in their games/character sheets and deleting it could cause their stuff to break).
Yeah, it's unpublished. Any idea why i can't find it when I go to that characters page? It shows up on my own characters. And I've had it made for a while
Have they toggled "homebrew" on in their character sheet? Also note that it can take 10-15 minutes for homebrew updates to show up.
This is probably it. Thanks!
Do you happen to have to buy the Kobold species too or do I need to turn on a specific setting?
I believe you'd need to buy the Monsters of the Multiverse book to be able to use the Kobold species for a character.
hi, i want to ask, i'm setting up a character as bard and followed the 2014 core rule , but there's no college of glamour or sword, can anyone advice me on the matter?
For 2014 Bard, College of Swords and College of Glamour are from Xanathar's Guide to Everything. You would need to own that book or have it shared for those sub classes.
have it shared? you can share books in the dnd website?
does the 2024 Player's Handbook have it?
Yes, if you have a Master Tier subscription, you can enable content sharing for a campaign group. If content sharing is enabled for a campaign, all content owned by anyone in the campaign is shared with everyone else in the campaign.
The 2024 PHB includes the Colleges of Dance, Glamour, Lore, and Valor for the 2024 Bard.
oh so if say my dm has has master tier subscription, i can borrow the attributes from said books?
Yes, if they have a Master Tier subscription and enable content sharing for the campaign, then all content owned by them or any of the players can be used on characters within the campaign.
ok i'll check with them
thanks again friend !
Can you buy one subclass instead of buying the whole book?
Nope, a la carte purchasing was discontinued a while back, almost a year ago
Hello, can't add any token to Maps. Any advice?
Is it just not showing the plus button next to the right of the monster and players?
It is showing the button. But when i try to click on it nothing happens. The token is not appearing. Yet it adds a token to the Combat Encounter tab
Do you have any Fog of war on the map? If you do your token may have been added behind it
No, its disabled
And you have zoomed out all the way to make sure it isnt adding it far off screen?
Yeah, and selected all of the offscrren with shift
Do you happen to have any ad blockers running? If you do can you turn them off and reload the page to see if that does any thing
Doesnt help
Is it just on one map or all of them?
Are you able to try it from a different computer? I ask because I was able to add tokens to maps on my computer
Well, not at the moment but my players cant add any tokens as well on my campaign
Im assuming you have but have you restarted your web browser? And maybe even your computer?
We are facing this problem since yesterday, so i restarted it
when i do !sheet avrae only shows unarmed strike even though i have ice knife on my dnd beyond sheet
(im new to dnd and avrae)
When someone who know what the issue is , or an idea at least, and has time they will answer you in #ddb-avrae-help
ok
Im not sure what the issue may be. You may have to reach out to costumer support and see if they have any ideas.

Ok, thanks for trying anyway
If you dont mind could you post a screenshot of your maps webpage? I just had one more thought
Is it possible your subscription expired? That's a really weird issue your describing with maps.
Well that screenshot shoots down my last idea. Sorry I wasnt able to help
Thank you anyway
Make sure that you're not on a VPN/using VPN extension, adblockers, or web extensions that may interact with DnDBeyond and possibly cause issues.
You may want to also hit F12 and check the web developer tools console tab to see if there's any red error messages that might give insight into what might not be working (a resource not being loaded or being blocked, etc.)
I'm going to remove the screenshot.
Will try in the couple of minutes, ty

I need help with dnd beyond for some reason it's asking to verify I'm human for some reason
idk why because i havent had this issue befoer but now all of a sudden I'm having it and nothing seems to be working to fix it
My sources tab has gone back in time
The modern books are there if I select all sources.
But I like the quick tab being updated.
Huh, crazy, you're right. The sources all went back in time haha.
Is it everyone or just me
I see it too. Folks in the back are taking a look.
Hey, I'm having trouble with the Google login button on the website all of a sudden. Can anyone help me get back into my account? Thanks so much!
PS, I clicked "created an account" for funsies, and yep--my username is already "taken", so ddb knows who I am, lol!
Is it possible you signed in through Twitch, which itself used your Google address?
I can’t read any of my books on the mobile app. The formatting for all of them is broken
I don't have a Twitch account (to my knowledge), so I know I had to have used the Google button to create an account. 😕
You may need to contact customer support about account recovery, then.

Hello!
Where can I see which races I can get with digital PHB from 2024 if I use a character digital sheet from dnd ?
All in PHB 2024 will be in the auto character digital sheet from dnd ?
I want to know what I can get for the price aha
The PHB includes:
- Aasimar
- Dragonborn
- Gnome
- Goliath
- Orc
- Tiefling
(It includes Dwarf, Elf, Halfing, and Human as well, but those four are also in the D&D Free Rules and can be used without purchasing the book.)
If you want Aaracokra and Kobold (and 32 other species), then those can be found in Monsters of the Multiverse instead.
Hi. Is there any way to disable homebrew sharing in a campaign?
Or at least make something private?
Remove it from your Homebrew Collection (it stays in your Homebrew Creations).
Note that each person in the campaign will have to do that for themselves.
You can also disable Homebrew altogether on a per-character basis in the first tab of the character editor.
When I try to export a character sheet it gives me a pdf of a blank character sheet... is this correct or a bug?
It seems to be an issue with certain PDF viewers. I'd recommend trying it in another browser or dedicated PDF software like Adobe Acrobat.
my friend has a 2024 paladin with the Oath of the Watchers subclass and the sheet doesnt list the core class Channel divinity and its use-checkboxes at all. All that's visible are the subclass's divinity options.
this means also Divine Sense is missing
i know this is probably related to the features being named the same way in the 2024 class and 2014 subclass, and that 2024 subclasses only offer one channel divinity option while these older ones offer two
Any idea if this is a known issue and on the list for fixing?
I can repeat this bug with any expanded rules subclass and it works correctly with the 2024 phb subclasses.
So weird…okay, thank you!
Thank you! opened it in chrome and it seems to display fine... but turns out I personally don't like it's layout so I'll probably copy it all anyway! lol
I need some hep with something, I am trying to make a new wizards account so I can access Sigil, but it is not letting me make the account. For some reason, it says "invalid email address" when I try to put my gmail in, and I don't know why.
How do I enable content sharing in my campaign?
I have a player with books in it. But the other players do not seem to have access to it - as the DM I certainly don't.
Do any of you guys have a Master Tier sub?
Oh it's locked behind that?
Someone needs the ability to enable content sharing with an appropriate sub level, yes.
It doesn't have to be the DM. Can be anyone in the campaign.
Where can I find those details?
Start your first month free with the Hero and Master Tiers of D&D Beyond. Receive monthly perks, access homebrew content and create unlimited characters.
Also, what currency is that in?
USD for me, though I'm unsure if it adjusts for your IP address.
Then that is USD, yes.
There is a free trial y'all can use to benefit for a month to try it out.
That free trial doesn't have content sharing, does it?
It is a free trial of the master tier, which says it allows for content sharing, yes.
You can read it on the page I linked above.
Ah, I see. And does that setting persist afterwards or does the content sharing apply only whilst you're using well, subscribed?
It stands to reason that the benefits of the Master Tier only persist while you are subscribed at the Master Tier.
Yeah, it does, just checking, though, because the particulars are... A bit subtle.
My suspicion is what happens is that once you have content sharing, you can have characters use those books.
But once content sharing is disabled, you no-longer have access to those features, but the characters still keep what they have already picked. Not sure what that means for level ups, though.
It woudln't mean you get locked out of the characters, would it?
So--
- If you are subscribed at the Master Tier and create more than the free tier's 6 characters, you will be forced to pick which 6 characters you want to keep when your subscription ends. The rest will be waiting for you when/if you resubscribe.
- Of those 6 characters, they continue to have access to any class features, magic items, or whatever they received while content sharing was enabled.
- When you level up one of those 6 characters, they continue to benefit from their current class and subclass as they level up, but you can't give them any feats, new subclasses, new classes, or whatever that would require content sharing.
tl;dr: It behaves as you would expect.
That's perfect.
Well that certainly gives options for the players if they ever get tired of using physical books.
On a number of sites when I get this, it's often because the site feels that an account with that e-mail already exists. Try password recovery type options with that e-mail. If the account really doesn't exist, you might not get a response, but if you get one, you can reset the password and then just logon with the password instead of trying to create an account.
The menu has ended it's timeloop and is back to normal.
In search of Project Sigil support/feedback/discussion. The Link connected to the launcher is broken sadly.
Apparently the Sigil Discord isn't reachable by folks not already there which would be the best place for feedback. But we do have #sigil-vtt-archive for discussions about it here.
Can't purchase the digital PHB, says it needs to ship to another country (no shipping involved) and I have to use a partner site that only sells them bundled with physical copies for outrageous prices.
I was told when trying to purchase by DDB that digital could be purchased on the regular marketplace.

im not sure if this is worth asking here or not but not sure were else to ask it.
When the Exodus TTRPG (also a WC product) drops (founder book drops this or next month) will Exodus be added to this discord or will it get its own if any?
Given it's not D&D, its unlikely to be part of the the D&D discord
LOTR is not D&D but its on DDB 😛
That is a 3rd party supplement that was made to work with D&D -e.g. they made a D&D 5e compatible supplement
Exodus TTRPG is a different game system.
It's not D&D.
ok granted it is 5e but not D&D, would you know if its going to get its own Discord? (just asking as it is a WC product)
and there support link taks you to DDB support page... tho that might be a coding error
a sorry technically its WofC support page
Yeah looking at the WoTC site I'm not seeing a specific support channel for Exodus.
This is the best I've found: https://www.exodusgame.com/en-US
no it don't have one, that said on the bottom of the Exodus web page it says contact us and takes you to the WofC support page and in smaller print I spotted a customer support link taking to to Exodus support.
But at any rate, it's not D&D and it's not DnDBeyond so it's a bit beyond what we can help/support here.
Ill try asking on that thank you for trying to help 🙂
I have also asked the question in the back about where that contact link is supposed to go
thank you 🙂
ok, I figured it out before you sent this. I remembered that I had an old MTG arena account with the email, and since those accounts became wizard accounts, I just reset the password on it and was able to use that
thx for the help though
Hey can i change the portrait and name of my character after creation ?
Yes
What do Expanded and Legacy rules refer to ? 5th edition first party books up until the switch to the 2024 version of the edition ?
Expanded Rules are all the current official character options other than those in the core rulebooks.
Legacy contains:
- Official character options that are no longer current (e.g. the original version of a subclass that has been updated in a more recent book)
- Unofficial first-party character options, typically from charity releases
Isn't almost all of 2014 Core Rules at this point also Legacy then ?
They would be if they didn’t have their own category, sure.
The site will let you change anything about your character at any point.
(Though the game rules and your DM may limit those changes.)
I currently set this screen up to be fairly limiting as i want to "practice" the most broadly accepted rules but i may well start opening things up as time progresses.
In that case, I’d recommend just Expanded Rules.
Heya, I just started trying some homebrew on dndbeyond and was wondering, How do I add the choice for > add +2 for 1 ability score and +1 for another or > add +1 to 3 different ability scores? I feel like i've set it up correctly but it doesnt seem to work... it only shows me the +1 x3 option
if i didnt get the gold dragon mini for sigil, who can i contact?
Probably best to follow up with customer service

has anyone figured out how to help me?
I cannot use the DDB app

Have you tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it
I thought I did. But I can try again.
Image files aren't loading for several monsters and characters. When I try to open the link in a new tab I get the follow error:
Truueee
You’d need to use Options to create the two choices, then inside each, add any Modifiers for that choice.
Yeah i did actually had it correct, it was just a weird issue that it didnt update
however i also wanted to make a homebrew weapon, a 1d6 slingshot but dndbeyond doesnt seem to let me do this smoothly...?
You can make customs actions on the character sheets.
That's really the only way I've been able to make custom weapons with different damage dice
hmmm damn :/ can try that, though i wish there was a proper supported way :/
I just ordered the FREE Hold Back the Dead adventure, but when I go to Sources it doesn't show up In Library. Not sure what I did wrong. Please help...

Anyone having issues updating Sigil? After this update I keep getting an error downloading. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling too
My DM just gave me the option to learn a new cantrip. How do I add that cantrip to my sheet? The add spells section seems to only let me add spells up to what my class has room for.
The best option, imo, is to make a home brew feat that gives you the cantrip
I see.
👍 Yes! Thank you! It was in my gifts by accident!
I am trying to log into Sigil for the first time. I am getting an invalid email account with my wizards account.
You may need to reach out to WoTC customer support for any issues with your WoTC account: https://support.wizards.com/hc/en-us

Is it possible to put an ad up to find members for a dnd group
Yes - please read #find-a-game carefully as it explains how to use our Looking For Game channels and how to use the bot commands to create a post in those channels. The bot commands start with /looking-for then select the type of post you want to make. The bot will give you a form to fill out. Once you submit the form the bot will create the post and attach a thread to it. Use the thread to provide any corrections, updates, and/or to communicate with those interested.
Can I ask for help with Sigil here??
Or you can access it, the best resource is the Sigil Discord Server.
I tried to join the sigil discord server but the invite link thats on the Sigil launcher is invaild
How do we had a request for players in that channel?
Is Maps—the D&D VTT—also discussed here?
was there a February subscriber perk? I brought it I don't see it. Unless it was the Tarrasque Dice Set
I'm pretty sure that's it.
I see, i was confused as in my licensing, and where dicesets are its placed below the aura borileis dice set so i thought i already had it
I honestly don't know. This is my first time playing, and I don't like that I'm getting caught on technical stuff, and the app isn't super verbose about this..
Kind of hoping my DM doesn't use Beyond after this one-shot, I don't like DRM in tabletop games.. I don't even like it in video games
If you go to where you selected your class, which of those icons does it show?
Click the gear icon in the top left corner of your sheet and select Manage Character & Levels.
Hey. i'm trying to buy gloomstalker for my ranger , is it possible without buying the guide?
A la carte purchases are no longer possible. You will need to buy the book that that subclass comes in to be able to use it. The 2024 Players Handbook has the current version of that subclass.
Fixed it, thank you
Just have to check with DM to see if any adjustments are necessary
Is possible to join an existing character back to a campaign if you accidentally remove they?
Ok thank you
So I own the Chronurgy Wizard from back when there were still A la Carte purchases, but it's not available in the character builder. What's up with that?
And before anyone asks about Partnered Content, yes, it's enabled.
It currently only works with the 2014 Wizard. Until the creator of the subclass (Mercer) specifically makes it compatible with 2024 PHB, it can't be natively used with the 2024 Wizard class.
Although you can make a homebrewed version of the subclass and its spells for your own use, as a workaround.
So the promise of content being forwards compatible between the versions doesn't apply to Partnered Content. Gotcha.
This is all we've been told:
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.

I think this is the right place to ask this:
where are the dnd beyond servers located?
You mean the ones hosting the website? No idea.
That’s probably not something anyone here would have the answer to.
Hmm, cuz my mom wont allow me to create an acc without knowing where the server is.
thanks
Maybe anyone know where the team is settled? If their're in one physicall place at all.
DDB’s headquarters are in Huntsville, Alabama.
WOTC is in Renton, Washington.
Both in the US.
The servers are likely on a cloud platform like AWS and they very well could be mirrored in multiple locations.
thanks
I've noticed i can stack the dueling fighting style on fighter as well as the dueling feat on my character giving it +4, is that intended?
Dubious under the rules, but the site's not gonna stop you.
If I'm understanding correctly, essentially, you would have been combining a 2014 PH Dueling with a 2024 PH Dueling. As Wizards has indicated in their post, a number of older rules weren't meant to combine, but as spamandtuna indicated, the creators of DDB are trying to serve a wider array of game styles and perhaps someone out there is combining them and needs the DDB site to support it.
Howdy!! Does anyone know if there's a difference between something being accessible via Content Sharing vs. being "in the DM's content library"? I have a master tier sub and can therefore see the new Aboleth stat block because one of my player's has purchased the 2024 MM, but Maps won't let me use that cool new token/stats because I apparently don't have access. Not sure if there's something I'm missing that I need to toggle?
If you are using the maps tool you need to own the connect to use the tokens in maps. The content being shared with you doesn't matter when it come to tokens in Maps
Ahh, that'd do it!! Thanks so much, figured it'd be something along those lines that has somehow just never come up since we started using maps, lol
But you can always submit feedback that you would like it to work that way through the Feedback link in maps so that way the maps team can see that there is interest in it
is there any way to get the fire damage from a Flame Tongue weapon to automatically roll with the attack? or do i just have to manually roll an additional 2d6
manually
Would anyone here be able to help me and my friend import a homebrew subclass to D&D Beyond?
How do I add a Dagger (2014)? The Nick property doesn't exist in 2014.
The Nick property can’t be used by any 2014 character anyway because they lack the rules that allow them to.
So since the stats are effectively the same, only one dagger exists.
What have you got so far? Where exactly are you stuck?
We have most of the actual stuff already written down, we just don't know how to properly implement it into D&D Beyond if that makes sense
I’d start by just adding the class features at the required levels, each with a Description (the full rules text) and a Snippet (the abbreviated text shown directly on the sheet).
Then you can start to identify what other things you want to add.
If you know of an official subclass features that work similarly to yours, you can make a homebrew copy of that subclass to peek inside and see how it was set up.
And if you’re not sure how to set up any specific piece, folks here are happy to help.
In that case do you know how to give a paladin subclass access to cantrips?
After you add a class feature, you should see a Spells option inside.
Yup we added that and added the cantrips but for whatever reason its not letting us actually equip any cantrips onto the character
What’s the actual rules text for that feature?
"You gain gain access to 3 warlock cantrips of your choice" is basically what it does, the problem I think we have is that since Paladins dont normally get cantrips I think it just doesn't want to work lol
Anyone know why you can only choose one subclass for Rogues when using the Character Builder at D&Dbeyond?
If you are only seeing one subclass then that subclass is probably part of the 2024 free rules.
Ans you are only seeing one because that is all you own your self or you don't have the expanded rules turned on
Okay must be that then, because it just show Core Rules Thief. and does not allow you to select assassin.
2024 Assassin was printed in the 2024 Players Handbook.
If you are wanting to play a 2014 rouge assassin you can turn on the 2014 core rules and then scroll down till you see that version of rouge
And in order for it co come up, I would need to but the digital copy there right?
I have the physical book. bummer.
You can always use the homebrew tools to make it for your personal use but otherwise yeah
You just have to pay attention to make sure you are making your homebrew for the right version of Rouge if you go that route

You’d need Critical Role turned on for the subclass, and 2014 Core Rules for the 2014 Fighter class.
(It isn’t yet available on the 2024 Fighter class.)
thanks
Before I start going nuts over it trying though it won't work, can I make the Chronurgy/Graviturgy Wizard as hombrew to show up for the 24 Wiz? Or is that currently not possible because of how they work?
Hm.. Okay cool. guess I have to then do it one by one instead of just hitting copy on the subclass as the base seems to be different when choosing 14 or 24 wizard.
Yeah, you won't be able to select it as a template for 2024 wizard because it doesn't exist for that class.
You'd have to make a copy for the 2014 wizard to see how it's set up, and then manually copy it over to a 2024 subclass.
Ooofff... oh well...actually.. why is that? is it that deep in the system that things that haven't been reprinted can't be set up for the 24 system?
Because it's not appropriate for DNDB to decide how to update a CR subclass for the 2024 ruleset, it's up to the CR folks to do so and then tell the DNDB folks what updates to make.
This is the only public statement I've seen:
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.

Is there a way to rotate the maps in D&D beyond? I really need to be able to rotate them to fit my game table screen.
On screen, I do not think so but if you are bringing it to a VTT, you can usually rotate it in the VTT or a free image viewer or editor can do it. I would recommend one but I don't think I can promo things in here, even if not my own.
Just wanted to let you know, this is not the case, adding the spells down in the additional spell section is enough for them to show up as well as setting the prior lvl 2 to lvl 3 now works as well should anyone else ask about this
yo guys I need help dnd beyond homebrew
my custom spell has upcasting bonuses
where is does an extra 1d6 damage per level upcasted
I have the damage modifier and "at higher levels" thing set
but
on my character sheet the damage doesn't go up with higher levels
anyone know what to do?
I tried copying fireball to see what it does for upcasting damage, but it did the same thing I did
hold on let me get pictures
my spell
copy of fireball
Probably because you picked “Artificer Spell Attacks” instead of a damage type.
Keep in mind, too, that homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to appear on your sheet.
I tried changing the damage type to acid instead of artificer spell attacks but it still wont scale
Again, homebrew edits can take a while to show up on the sheet.
But you could also check under Basic Information to make sure that “At Higher Levels Scaling?” is enabled, and that “Higher Levels Scaling Type is set to “Spell Scale”.
that's probably my problem
I had it set to spell level not spell scale
alr I finally got it working
Thanks for the help on that
I prob would've never found out my problem was just not setting it to Spell Scale
Thank you so much for this answer we tried every tool available but never could rotate it. seems so odd that rotating isn’t an option.
Anyone know why this isn't working?
something seems glitched with the inventory on my character sheet. I can't add a quantity number to an item anymore. (i.e. add 4 daggers and it add a single dagger to my sheet with a quantity of 4) it add 4 individual daggers to my sheet instead. What am I doing wrong? Has something been changed? Other items in my inventory still have a quantity value, so the feature must be possible.
Anyone know where I can find png's of the Concentration and Ritual icons?
Did anyone had troubles with MAPS last night ?
I got an error several times and had to reload the game for the entire party
Did the 14 Warlock invos get cut from the 24 invos? Things like beast speach and eyes of the rune keeper dont show for the 24 when looking for picks.
Any possibility to add them back to the pool?
That's because they're either redundant, with Speak with Animals being on the Warlock's spell list, or replaced with something better.
Then what about Eldritch Sight? Detect Magic was already on the spell list of the 14 Warlock yet it was still an invocation.
It has features that Detect Magic doesn't have, IIRC.
So... there is no difference in the spell itself besides the updated way of explaining what it does so I don't see why it was excluded
Invo: Eldritch Sight- You can cast detect magic at will, without expending a spell slot.
14: For the duration, you sense the presence of magic within 30 feet of you. If you sense magic in this way, you can use your action to see a faint aura around any visible creature or object in the area that bears magic, and you learn its school of magic, if any.
The spell can penetrate most barriers, but it is blocked by 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt.
24: For the duration, you sense the presence of magical effects within 30 feet of yourself. If you sense such effects, you can take the Magic action to see a faint aura around any visible creature or object in the area that bears the magic, and if an effect was created by a spell, you learn the spell’s school of magic.
The spell is blocked by 1 foot of stone, dirt, or wood; 1 inch of metal; or a thin sheet of lead.
Seems like only the 2014 spells are currently an option there, and those won't show unless you have "2014 Core Rules" enabled for that character.
(I've asked the devs about adding the 2024 spells there.)
I think that's how it always worked for weapons. Not entirely sure, though.
Legacy Warlock Invocations aren't supported for the 2024 Warlock. We're working on supporting backward compatibility for Legacy Invocations, but we don't have an ETA.

As a workaround in the meantime, you could potentially leave your choice unselected and add the one you want as a homebrew feat instead.
Gotcha, good to know! Seems I gotta make a copy or two of the eldritch adept feat then for extra slots.
Pretty sure this is right as I got soo many tridents on one of my character xD
Unfortunately, no. I have several other weapons that have a quantity, and increased weight based on how many I have. Such as Javelins, handaxes...throwable melee stuff. Something something seems to have been changed or lost in an update if you can't find a way to increase the quantity of a weapon in your inventory.
I think those other items still have quantities because I haven't touched them in awhile (our DM has been big into RP instead of combat for a good year now). So I didn't notice until we got in a big battle resently that something was off with the app.
Who can we talk to in order to get crowd sourcing added for DDB? I'll bet 50-75% of the D&D player base are analytical if not fully technical and many would happily donate code/time to make DDB better. I know I would
Why is Aid not selectable? It’s part of Player’s Handbook, no?
Do you have the PHB
Yes.
Hmm might want to check your accounts for entitlements. Or restart depete the app
I even looked at the book’s contents in DDB, it does in fact say Aid is in PHB.
How do I “check my account for entitlements”
?tag ddb entitlements
Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
@royal dock what class and subclass are you playing as?
2014 or 2024?
Ok so you need to enable option class features then. Aid was added to the ranger spell list via the optional class features in TCE
Thats an optional feature from 2014 right?
I see, that I wasn’t aware of.
Correct, it's a spell added to the Ranger spell list by the optional feature from Tasha's Cauldron of Everything. I believe you'll need to own that book, and then enable the optional class features on that character sheet (from the first page of the character builder) – and then specifically enable the Additional Ranger Spells feature (from the Classes page of the character builder).
…um.
Now what?
I enabled it and everything.
Wait don’t tell me I have to buy another book just for this.
Aid is in the core rules and you dont have that filter selected
The basic "Core Rules" filter includes the 2024 core rules, while the 2014 core rules filter includes what it says it does; I don't think that's the issue here. Rather, the problem is that (I assume) you don't own Tasha's Cauldron of Everything.
Here are the steps:
- You must own Tasha's Cauldron of Everything
- On the home page for the character builder, enable Optional Class Features
- On the "Class" page, open the dropdown of "Option Feature Manager"
- Make sure the checkbox for Additional Ranger Spells is selected
Why can’t I buy TCE
You can here at this link (https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/category/tashas-cauldron-of-everything?pid=SRC-00067&Digital%2FPhysical=Digital)
I thought I was able to purchase individual items from source books. Is that not a thing anymore?
That feature was removed around the middle of last year, but that would not help in this case anyways. You needed to own the whole book to use optional class features, even before that change
…are you kidding me?
No it was not.
What I was GOING to say, was that I do not have $60 to cough up.
So I guess I’m just stuck.
$60 to use Aid is not worth it whatsoever. It never will be.
It is $60 for the digital-physical bundle. If you just want the digital book then it is $30
Is that not still absurd
I own almost all of the content from this book, too, so I don’t get a discount when buying it, it seems.
@royal dock If all you want is to use the Aid spell on your character, the simplest solution is probably to make a (private) homebrew copy of the spell, and to add it to the spell list of the 2014 Ranger.
I was just about to suggest the same thing
if you bought stuff via a la carte from before, you can reach out to customer support to get your discount
I believe you can submit a support ticket to DDB to have that discount applied for previously owned content
Any idea how to add spells to a spell list for the Dragonmark feats from the UA?
Homebrew…?
See how the Ravnica backgrounds did it
You would need to create homebrew copies of each spell, and add those homebrew copies to your class's spell list
Hi on DDB I was looking at beasts CR5 in Encounter builder. I found the Snapjaw and wanted more info on it so when looking in Grim Hollow: Lairs of Etharis for Lore on it and i cant find it in the book and its not listed in the Etharis Creatures section. i tried looking at the creatures in each chapter but still could not see it so i am wondering if its meant to be in the book but not or if its source is listed incorrectly in the encounter builder ( or option 3 I am 100% blind)
Snapjaw ||doesn't have a traditional statblock in the book. It's just a giant crocodile with a few specified modifications.

a ok thank you that's why I couldn't find it 🙂
Can someone explain why my 2014 monk has a D10 unarmed strike instead of D8?
Can you provide a link to the character sheet?
Not sure how to do that on mobile, but hopefully this works... www.dndbeyond.com/sheet-pdfs/OutcastSpartan_131199684.pdf
If. Ot I'll do it when I get home.
A very likely possibility is you accidentally selected the 2024 class. They are listed on top and thus very easy to pick by accident.
I don't think so, since I made this character before 2024 existed.
Let me check though.
Not that
I just built a 2014 monk and made it lvl 11 it also had D10s instead of D8's
We don't have a method of disambiguating the Martial Arts granted by the 2014 Monk and the one from the 2024 Monk. As such, all Monks will temporarily match the 2024 Monk's Martial Arts Die until we’re able to fix this.

Okay cool
Also there appears to be a bug on some of my characters, they seem to show their level 1 health no matter what bonuses and levels they gain.
If you click on their HP, is there a value entered in the "Override Max HP" box?
I'll have a look when I get home.
Wow, K, D&D bug it is.
Or if you go into your character settings, is "Hit Point Type" set to "Manual"?
hey, i have a quick question, are you able to use supernatural gifts on dnd beyond like the hollow one?
You have to use homebrew to make them work right but you are able to
ok thx
I just wanted to comment that if you own most of a book already due to previous piecemeal purchases, you can contact support and they'll get you a discount for the remainder of the book based on how much you own.
We already informed them of this
Oh, I must've missed that.
Oh!!!
This is a bug for ddb but that page shows it is a bug against the book?
Is this why there are constantly updates for the rules in the books but with no content changes that i can see? (Especially for the free rules)?
Hello, I just have a really quick question and it got more complicated so I just need some help at all possible
No one can say if they can/will help if they don't know what the question is so you're best just off asking it
Me and my friend just for our fun is having Chat GPT make us a campaign I was originally looking for help homebrewing a subclass it created me for this isolated world but I learned that AI generated stuff is against TOS. But our character sheets are through D&D Beyond so I was wondering if the ai generated things is against TOS to make public and I can keep it privet just for my own organization or do I need to switch to paper character sheet because even if it’s privet my D&D Beyond account will get banned for even having it on the character sheet
You can use whatever you want for personal use but you may not share AI generated work here on this server or on the DnDBeyond forums.
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean here.
Book updates in the app could be for any number of benign reasons, like simply fixing a typo or updating a listing that didn't match the book.
Could also be updating linking like if they say forgot to link a spell or something. The text would not be wrong but users would get better functionality out of it being able to quickly jump to a relevant rule elsewhere.
How do I remove a source book from character builder? The free rules keep showing up and I only want to use 2014. Example: Under shortbow, 2014 rules do not have Vex and I don't want it to show up.
D&D beyond does not currently have a way to hide or disable any content from the 2024 core rules, since they are the core rules of the game. You only have the option to also enable the 2014 rules.
A 2014 character can't use Vex anyway since they don't have a feature that lets them do so.
I think they're mostly just referring to it being part of the weapon description, rather than it actually being used in game
It does print them on the character sheet though. 2014 rules do not have vex for shortbow or nick for scimitar. There are also differences in feats and the characte builder uses the free rules for those.
I don't know for sure, because I've never given or received a gift on DDB, but on your My Account page, in the same place where you sync your entitlements, one of the tabs is for gifts.
If you hover over your account name on ddb, it gives you a menu, the third item is to redeem a key.
Was able to find a link, but thank you both! Now i know where to go next time
