Assuming the link you used before is the correct one for your character sheet, yeah.
Thanks it worked! Have another question, how many servers can we have the character in?
Characters are tied to your account, not to any specific server.
The "Legacy" option in character creation says: "These include sources that are out of print or created for charity."
My concrete question is:
What sources are "charity content" ?
Ofc books like PHB, DMG and (common known) campaign books like "Decent Into Avernus" are not.
But the point which confuses me is the following. If deactivate "Legacy" in character creation books like:
- "Misplacved Monsters: Volume One" content is unavailable
- but "Monstrous Compendium Vol. Four: Eldraine Creatures", "Domains of Delight – A Feywild Accessory", "Uni and the Hunt for the Lost Horn" and "Monstrous Compendium Vol. 3: Minecraft Creatures" are available.
Also the species "Grung" from the book "One Grung Above" and the species "Locath" from the book "Locath Rising" get unavailable if "Legcy" is deactivated, but neither of these two species have a "Legacy"-info which let me now conclude that they are "charity"-content.
These gives me a big questionmark which books are (possible) "Charitycontent" and which not.
As ddb-feedback it would be very helpful to mark these books to see what also
Edit: as i initiall ask. A list would be very cool cause i just found these examples and wont search any book to possibly find out it could be or could not be charity 😄
One Grung Above and Locathah Rising were indeed both charity releases.
Lost Laboratory of Kwalish as well.
If you check the store page for OGA, for example:
100% of the sales price of this item (less third party transaction fees) will be donated to Extra Life benefiting Seattle Children's Hospital.
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/all-rulebooks-1/SRC-00060
?tag ddb charity
Charity Releases
100% of the sales price of these items (less third party transaction fees) will be donated to Extra Life benefiting Seattle Children's Hospital.
I think that's the full list.
Ty for the the marktplace tipp. But for people which have many (or all) books its very anoying to watch all books to check which is "charity" and which not.
Ty for the full list 🙂
Can is still do this on "feedback" channel cause of the: "easy to see in character creation"?
Best Regards

hey does anyone know why my tashas's content isn't coming up here?
I have the book it's one of the few I have not from a campaign share link
so ik I have it
I'm trying to make this guy a bladesinger but I want the tashas's version not the scag version
Thanks to errata, both versions are identical.
It simply says SCAG because that's where it was released first.
i sent a player an inv to my campaign but when she is chooseing her otherworldly patron she doesnt have hexblade even though i bought it? whats goin on? i do have the master tier sub so?
is her character inside the campaign?
yes
can someone maybe join our call and make sure im doing this right???
do you have content sharing enable in the campaign? also is this 2024 or 2014 base class?
2014
and yes
can you go into the sheet and select hexblade for her? I had that happen once that the DM could chose it but the player coulnt
i can yes
that could be a workaround for now.
Can you have this player check to make sure their entitlements are in sync?
i dont mean to be forward but could someone join our vc and make sure its not something ive done wrong we are screen sharing but to my eyes everything is in order
?tag ddb entitlements
Account Entitlements
Account entitlements are how D&D Beyond identifies which content you can access. These are synced automatically in time, but if you're not seeing content you should have access to, visit Account > Licenses.
The Account Entitlements section at the top should ideally say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" If not, it will show a button to manually trigger the sync, after which your content should be available.
that was the issue
thank you!!!!
so sorry to bother again is there a way to change the character maker layout back to 2014?
I’m afraid not
Spam u forgott "Misplaced Monsters: Volume One" in the list.
Also i have still the question:
If legacy is deactivated in character creation than charity content like from "Misplaced Monsters: Volume One" is unavailable (like it should be) but content from "Domains of Delight: A Feywild Accessory" is still available. Even if both are charity. Why ?
King Regards ♡
That one is indeed on the list already. It's the fifth one; they're in alphabetical order.
What specifically are you still seeing from Domains of Delight, though?
Mb 😄
A character can have extra creatures like familiars/summons/misc and so on.
If i deactivate "legacy" i cant choose monsters from "Misplaced Monsters: Volume One" (like Dandylion) anymore, but i can still take monster from books like "Domains Of Delight" (like Yarnspinner)
So it does. I've passed that on to the devs for review. Thanks!
i think im going crazy but i cant find an item from Tyranny of Dragons book on any of my characters any ideas why?
Did you buy the book?
I bought DMG 2024
It says I own digital product
But I can't open it?
On desktop

Nice, New Year Trolls at work.
I just ordered 2024 Digital & Physical Core Rulebook Bundle from the EU store.
With the order confirmation email I can get to activation page but the page only lists unlock codes for for the PHB 2024, MM 2024. The page lists DMG 2024 but there are just unlock instructions and no unlock button nor activation code.
@buoyant lichen is it the same for you too?
I gave my players some homebrew magic items. What happens when I end our campaign? Will those items still be accessible to them?
The items are unpublished, since they're from a third-party source.
The items will remain on their character sheet even if they leave the campaign but if they remove them from their sheet then they will be gone and can't be readded
Perfect, thanks!
Hello, My hero tier subscription got cancelled. I wanted to share some books with my players, changed my subscription to master tier but i don't have the books i wanted to share. So I wanted to revert to the hero tier but i can not do so, and my hero sub should last till april 25. Any help?

Under which section in D&D Free Rules (2024) are modern firearms located?
Pistols and muskets can be found in the main Weapons section.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/free-rules/equipment#Weapons
All other firearms aren't found in the Free Rules, but only in the DMG's Firearms and Explosives section.

hello! I pre-ordered the new core books back in June on the platform, but in the session tonight none of my players had access to them when leveling up. I checked the shared products and I did not see the new core books in there, like if I did not own them. I have the Master Tier subscription, shared content enabled, and the invoice of the order. How could we solve this issue snd give me access to the books again?
Check here (https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/licenses) and make sure the new core books are shown there under current product license.. If they are have your players check to make sure their entitlements are in sync on that same link.
they are not in there...
You may need to contact customer support if you are sure you are signed in to the account that bought them.

Did you buy them directly through D&D Beyond, or through dndstore.wizards.com?
Is there a way to take existing 2014 Player Characters and have them converted to 2024 Player Characters in DDB?
You’d need to manually switch the character to any 2024 options you want to use.
basically recreate the character
Seeing the invoice, it seems that from the second one
In that case, there should be a redemption link in your purchase confirmation email. You’ll need to redeem that before it will be available to use on D&D Beyond.
idk if this is the right channel, but if I cancel my ddb subscription do I still get my perks until the day it would try to charge me again?
Yes - your subscription benefits last until the next billing cycle.
Okay so I can safely cancel it to not get charged without losing anything for ahwile
Correct. Do note that if you have more than 6 characters all but the most recent 6 will be locked although you can change which ones are available/unlocked.
I tried posting a homebrew fighter subclass on the D&D Beyond website and it told me it was too similar to circle of spores druid and won't be available to the community... How can I fix this? I specifically wanted to post it so that I could get feedback/
Nevermind... This is my first subclass, and I put all of the features in the description section...
I wouldn’t publish it just to get feedback. Whatever you submit will live in that state forever. I’d only publish after it’s finished, working, playtested, and ready to be immortalized.
That said, you can try hitting the main save button to re-trigger the validator.
If that doesn’t clean up the error, then I’d recommend checking that all your Description fields are properly filled in. One that’s missing or too short could cause that error.
Hey, a post I made on DNDBeyond's Unearthed Arcana sub-forum detailing my thoughts and concerns about the direction that the UA Artificer is going in was automatically flagged as spam for no obvious reason that I am able to tell.
Could a mod have a look at it and tell me what might be wrong? I see other people having posted their own thoughts so I don't inherently see why mine would not be allowed?
Hi. Could someone who’s good at making homebrew dndbeyond help me?
I'd recommend fleshing out your idea in #homebrew and then when it's time to make the thing in DnDBeyond, use an existing thing to base your homebrew thing off of as that way you can use what's already been built and see how it was built. For example if I were making a "iceball" spell that worked like fireball, I'd make a homebrew copy of the existing fireball spell and then change things to suit my homebrew idea.
But the problem is that I don't know if what I want can be achieved, and if it can, how
Compare your idea to existing things - if it has similar mechanics to existing things in DnDBeyond, it most likely can be achieved.
Where can I find a "how to" guide for the "Beyond" char generator? An example of what I am looking for is how to make it so that it automatically adds things like "bless" to die rolls. Currently I'm using the die roller to add such things.
You can't automatically add temporary effects, like bless, into rolls at this time
What exactly are you trying to do?
Should I send the link?
hey, I'm new to dnd and I got the 2024 players handbook hard-copy as a christmas gift.
How do I add it to my DNDBeyond account ?
There are four ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books
- Purchase the full digital book from the marketplace
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from the marketplace
- Join a DnDBeyond campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond. Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way, it is for personal use only
is it possible to upgrade the purchase at the bookstore to also include the digital edition ?
No - they are seperate products. A bit like buying a Playstation game and then wanting to get the Nintendo version.
Although see bullet point 3 and 4 in the bot message above your post.
it feels more like I payed for a PlayStation game, then I have to pay for the same game again if I want to play the multiplayer part of the full PlayStation game that I already payed for once...
Again a bit like buying a Playstation game and then wanting the Nintendo one - same game, different platform/medium. See the bot message previously posted to see other ways to access the book on DnDBeyond.
I edited my previous comment, for clarifications
@edgy oriole I'm trying to find out how much it will be to buy the handbook twice, but my country isn't listed... Do you know how I can order the shipment to Faroe Islands ?
That would in the EU so use this store: https://dndstore.wizards.com/eu
Although actually if you're just buying the digital DnDBeyond one you can do that straight from the DnDBeyond store: https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/
To clarify:
- If you're buying the digital + physical bundle, use the https://dndstore.wizards.com/eu store.
- If you're buying just digital, use the DnDBeyond marketplace: https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/
Proceeding to checkout in the fist link lists some countries on the european continent and Ireland, but Faroe Islands is not on the list
Hmmm. Don't know what's up then.
the second link only lists usa when I select the bundle

If you only need the digital DnDBeyond product, don't select the bundle (DnDBeyond bundles are only sold in the US and why we direct folks to the EU specific store for folks in the EU who want the bundle).
@edgy oriole how can I make a request to get Faroe Islands added as a country in the European store ?
I'd contact customer service about that - http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
@edgy oriole thanks, ticket #4273540 created
Howdy! Is there a way to add a Fighting Style in the 2024 Fighter's feature? I am talking about the 1st level feature. I know a feat could do the job, but I want to know if it is possible to add a Fighting Style directly into the class feature.
All fighting styles in the 2024 rules are feats.
But no, it’s not possible to change base class features.
Hi all, quick question. Putting together a warlock and I don't see archfey listed as a patron despite having the 2014 PHB in my dnd beyond account. I've set the character to level 3 where the pactboon typically comes into effect. It shows XGtE and TCoE but only fiend for core
Are you using the 2014 Warlock
or 2024 Warlock
So I take it Oath Spells are still not enabled for the 2024 Oath of Conquest Paladin?
Youre using 2024
Took some looking to see that it was pulling from 2024
Thanks
I should have checked that first
facepalm
Hey uhhh is there a specific spot for the bot commands? I wanna use the “looking for dms” command but i don’t want to mess it up 😅
You can use the bot commands in any channel that you can type into.
The illriggers invoke hell option doesn't have charges
where can i find the wild beyond the witchlight pdf?
The official books aren’t sold as PDFs.
But you can buy it digitally on D&D Beyond here:
https://marketplace.dndbeyond.com/adventures/wild-beyond-the-witchlight?pid=SRC-00079&Digital%2FPhysical=Digital
hey, I'm considering buying an android tablet for the dndbeyond app. Which screen resolution is optimal for app functionality ?
I've found a good deal on a 12.4", 16:10, 266ppi tablet, running android 14
Any timeline for that?
Thanks.
That answer would be something only the devs can provide.
If i want to order physical books and have them shipped to Canada, where do i go for that again?
Thank you!
Oh im noticing its all in bundles, how doesd that work with me already owning the digital ver?
Then you’ll probably want to buy it from another bookseller, or something like Amazon.
Ah dang
Theyre more expensive there TwT
Is it possible to buy as a gift actually?
Yeah, the purchase itself isn’t tied to your D&D Beyond account. It instead comes with a redemption code that you could give to someone else.
I want to make a staff for a wizard that gives +1 to all attacks done with the staff, both physical, cantrips, and wizard spells... as well as +1 to damage for physical, cantrips, and wizard spells. What modifiers do I need to set? This stuff is all names things that seem like they should work but they don't.
so basically +1 to all attack rolls of any kind, +1 to all damage rolls of any kind
rightclick any stat or bonus and then press add bonus
On the character sheet? That isn't working
I’d suggest making a homebrew copy of any existing item that does those things.
Then you can peek inside and see how it was set up.
You’ll at least want a Modifier with these to bump the weapon’s attack and damage:
- Type: Bonus
- Subtype: Magic
- Fixed Value: 1
Monsters of the Multiverse is shared to me by one of the players in my campaign. I'm looking to run an encounter with a frost salamander, one of the monsters within. I'm able to view the pages and add the token to the encounter page, but the map page is not allowing me to add that token.
Would anyone know how I could make a "revised" version of the Eldritch Adept feat so that it includes the new options? I made a copy of the original one to look at how it worked, but it was useless as it seems to be hard-coded into it.
Hey guys so I cants seem to figure out how create a campaign using dnd beyond iOS. Any help would be great.
When you go to Collections - My Campaigns, does it go to a page with a section labelled Active Campaigns?
This is expected behavior/functionality - the Maps tool does not have content sharing. You are limited to what you personally have.
Wow that's 2000 new tickets in 1.5 days.... Given the public holidays the issue with my DMG digital code missing from my 2024 book + digital bundle's unlock the activation key page is going to take ages. 😡
Good luck to me reading it before MM arrives. ( I've been out of D&D since 3.5e so there's a lot to catch up ).
why cant i find gloomstalker on 2024 ranger?
i have Tasha and Xanders
did it get moved to a different book?
Only the 2024 PHB version of Gloom Stalker works on the 2024 Ranger.
thats odd i have 2024 PHB book shared
Is your character assigned to the campaign that's sharing it?
no thats the issue?
Shared character options can only be used for characters in the campaign that's sharing them, yeah.
Hey, I've posted about an issue I'm having and have not even been acknowledged.
Is this the wrong channel to ask for help? Is there a different channel or pathway to at least get some information about why my post was automatically marked as "spam"?
I would probably try going through the forums appeal process as that will be easier to link to your forum account

There doesn't seem to be a way to appeal this? There is no option on the post to select any kind of appeal, nor do I have an account warning about it.
I've just looked into that for you and marked your post as not spam. I'm not sure what was triggering the filters. Might be the combination of links plus 'survey' and some other buzz words.
I could see how that might have triggered a false positive, although would be nice if the system gave hints about that. 🤷
Anyways, thanks so much!
Hello. My character is no longer showing on my account, but I can access it from the direct link as read only, so it still exists. Any ideas?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/128703277/
Is the user name with this character the user name you are expecting it to be?
It says the username is: Knoober8697658b084be6e
Kind of.. it looks like my username is shortened on my profile.
My purchases are gone as well.
Looks like you may have some how made a 2nd account
Checking for that but the email is correct for my sign-in
Did you sign in using the same method as before?
For example, if you created it with a Twitch account that shares your Google address, you'd need to sign in using Twitch, not Google.
If you then signed in with Google instead, it could create a second account.
(Unless you had first linked the Twitch-created account to your Google login.)
ok thanks, i'll give those a try.
nope, no change. Email is my correct signin.
This is the character that is missing from my character list
The first 6 digits after my name match what my profile says, but not the rest.
If it's a different username, it's a different account.
If you're not able to log into that account, you'll need to contact customer support.
?tag ddb support

even with those first 6 digits matching on both the profile and the character psage?
that seems like a bug or some kind of truncation
I guarantee it's a different account, no matter how similar the names are.
Most likely the one you're currently signed into was created first.
Then since that name was already taken, the second account had to use a different name.
i'll open a ticket..
Is there anywhere for folks who wanna do poetry for world building for DMs? I know we have like minis and homebrew but idk about literature etc
#dm-world-building . This is for DnDBeyond help
So I am making a subclass and it will have options let's just say option 1 and option 2 and at the 10th level they will get an immunity to a damage type but at the 3rd level, they will get a resistance type tied to the option. So in the modifiers of options 1 and 2 very easy I gave them resistances after taking the subclass options but then when trying to give them the immunity there was no button to say take this modifier at 10th level and I dont want to use it in their there level 10 feature because then they will have to select an option again not the end of the world if that is the case but I want to know if I can give modifiers at a certain level without making a new feature and using it in the same feature I made for 3rd level in the options
and also there is a bug with trying to make your subclass into a half 1/4 caster like arcane trickster
i made a copy of arcan trickster and follow it and there is nothing working to make my homebrew to be a half caster
please can anyone help
I think you can add the options at level 10, giving each one a prerequisite for the matching 3rd-level choice, and checking Is Granted to apply the option automatically (when the prerequisite is met).
Hard to say on the other one without more info. You’d probably need to match the spellcasting-related fields under Basic Information, and you definitely need to include a feature called Spellcasting.
Why can’t the bag of holding hold infinite stuff it be really help luck thx beyond
the bag of holding has its own rules on how much it can carry
I like it better when it hold everything i what to shove it the bag not more then 1
The site doesn’t limit how many items you can add to it, even if you’ve exceeded the bag’s stated capacity.
You can also customize the item to increase its stated capacity, as well.
What does the Protection Modifier Type do in the Homebrew Creator? From what I could understand, it allows something similar to the Orc's Relentless Endurance, right?
Yeah, it pops up with this option when you drop to 0 HP:
Is there a way to make a magic cloth item? Like in baldurs gate how there are magic cloths that barbarians can still use with unarmored defense, but will give magic bonuses, and "replace" regular armor?
You can create a homebrew magic item here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew/creations/create-magic-item
Just make it a Wonderous Item with whatever properties you want it to have.
Were Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat removed from the D&D Beyond site? I know they're now combined into Tyranny of Dragons, and I purchased all those products, but I sometimes found it useful to search the separate books.
Yeah, they were combined into Tyranny.
(And anyone who had purchased either of the separate ones was given access to it.)
Right, they just used to all 3 be visible/available in my library and now I only see ToD. Not a big deal, I just would have thought I'd have gotten an email or something. Thanks, spamandtuna.
Actually, wait!
Apparently they are still there, but they're not listed on the Sources page. 🤔
I still see them in the app as well (but maybe because I already had them installed? I'm not sure).
That is odd, but I'll definitely bookmark those links. thanks so much! (We're into the Rise of Tiamat part, but this campaign will be at least six more months, if not 12, LOL.). Thanks again!
how do i do that and what other info do you need to add spell slots
like no mater what i do the spell slots like the eldrich knight wont apear
Can you post a screenshot of your subclass features?
Also remember that it can sometimes take up to 15mins for homebrew change to show up on a character sheet.
I didn't where else to ask this for dndbeyond: I have added multiple subclasses to my "homebrew collection". However, when I try and add one of those subclasses for a character it will not show up. Only one option shows up from the 2014 core rules. I have checked with my other homebrew content, and the magic items and species, and all of that works fine. It is only my subclasses that don't show up. This is a problem for two characters in my campaign.
it has been this way for over 24 hours
Are the subclass you added for 2014 characters or 2024 characters?
I'm not not sure how to check, I think it is from the core rules of 2024
but I just tried it again with a 2014 class and it still wouldn't show uo
up*
Im guessing you have the homebrew check box checked?
Exactly as I said there: check "Is Granted", set it to level 10, and set the prerequisite to the matching 3rd-level option.
So if you're setting up an option for Fire Immunity, you'd choose the Fire Resistance option as its prerequisite.
And for the spell slots, again, you'll need a feature called Spellcasting.
No feature named Spellcasting = no spell slots
(Technically you could call it Pact Magic instead, but it'll still follow the spell slots progression from Arcane Tricketer's Spellcasting feature.)
How do I get to the SRD when I'm at D&DBeyond's homepage?
Not sure, but that's available here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/resources/1781-systems-reference-document-srd
I tried to add it into an item, and it didn't work... I'll send a screenshot of it looks later, maybe you would be able to help?
You could try making a copy of Lifewell Tattoo if you want to see how that was set up.
If it works on that item, it should work on any of them.
Is there a way to select which category is open by default in the dndbeyond app? I have no interest in third party content and every time I open the app I get "blasted" with books I don't want to purchase. I wish I could just either filter third party content I don't own out, or have it so I can have "downloaded" or "owned" selected by default.
Thanks
just seeing if there anything in the pipeline in the campaign setting to switch gm, i belong to a group that switch GM after a story arc. every time we switch GM's we have to make a different campaigns and copies of characters, just wold be easier to assign co-gm's in the campaign setting
I have it checked
I can google that and the page shows up, true!
I am having two problems regarding creating homebrew items with the ddb system.
- I am trying to create a “mundane” weapon but can’t even do that so I have to used common which forces my damage into magical piercing whenever I need just normal piercing.
- Every time I try and change the damage of the base weapon that I had to pick from its base (2d10) to 2d8 damage it just out right doesn’t work.
I've been noticing that when adjusting or adding feats on the mobile app character sheets of 2024 or 2014 that I can't see all the feats available, even with all the third party content selected. I've tried uninstalling and updating but I'm still having the same issue
You might have more luck creating a custom action directly on the character sheet.
You can go to the Actions tab and click Manage Custom in the top right corner to get started.
Do you have a specific example of a feat that’s missing?
I'm trying to add the Nimbleness Feat to my character yet all of the Free League feats won't show up is the most recent example
Did you purchase that LOTR book yourself, or is it being shared with you?
If it’s being shared, is your character assigned to the campaign that’s sharing it?
Have you downloaded that book in the app?
Hello, I purchased the digital + physical 2024 core rulebook bundle. I only got the codes for the 2024 PHB (which said preorder) and 2024 MM (which did not say pre order). I did not get a key for the 2024 DMG. The button to reveal the key is inexistent.
I used the EU store if that makes any difference
It's being shared with me and yes the character is in the campaign and downloaded, I can also add whatever I want from the PC version of DDB but on mobile I can't see everything
Is this the right channel to ask for this kind of support?
So, I just realized that I don’t have the 2024 players handbook, dungeon master’s guide, or monster manual in my ddb library even though I’ve had the master tier subscription that would give me access to them. I’ve looked up what to do and everything has said to go to my account and licenses and the. resync them, yet when I go there, there’s no button to press or anything, and is says that my entitlements data is in sync, yet I still don’t have access to the books. Can someone help me? (I’m under the impression that having the master tier means I get the books without having to buy them, but if that’s wrong I would gladly appreciate someone saying that)
when will the updated artificer come to dndb
Right channel but you’ll need to contact customer support to get assistance with order issues. http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
You need to buy the books separately - they do not come with a subscription.
No ETA has been announced nor do we know when the updated class will be released or what book it will be published in.
Upon clicking "Sorcerous origin" in my character's sheet, this is what is displayed. I wanted to double check and make this is intentional, as I don't see the "Your innate magic comes from draconic magic[...]" paragraph as outlined in the basic rules.
That's the correct text. The quote you've described is the introduction for a specific origin choice; what's shown in the screenshot is the language of the Sorcerous Origin feature itself.
Spamandtuna, let me just say thank you for your help with all my dumb character sheet related questions in the last couple months XD I really appreciate it!
Is there a way to add homebrew languages?
You can add customs languages directly from the character sheet.
Does anyone have like a list of all the creatures you can summon as a familiar using the default find familiar (without investment of the chain master)
Some of the creatures are listed in the spell description. The description can be found here( https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/2618877-find-familiar)
Why is the book "Curse of strahd: character option" not shown on the website sources ?
In the app the book is shown.
Quick question - I'm currently playing under a 2014 Campaign and soon we want to start a OneShot to test out the 2024 stuff.
While everything is allows we decided to stay with the 2014 spells.. after character creation - A ranger I realized, that I can only use the extended spells and the core spells, but the 2014 legacy spells don't show up. Does anyone knows a fix?
The spells of my main character
And the oneshot character
Did you filter out the 2014 spells?
Where can I check this?
When I export my character sheet pdf it doesn’t show the prepared spells as prepared
Usually folks use a PDF to print a physical character sheet - in which case you would just manually mark the circle to indicate that the spell is prepared or not. On DnDBeyond you would just refer to the spell list and use the Manage Spells functionality to determine which spells are prepared for that day. At any rate I can check in the back to see if this is expected behavior or something needing developer attention.
Check the Home tab in the character builder. For spells, find filter by source category in the class tab.
It is maybe because of content sharing? I currently only own the PHB 2024. Outside of any campaign it would make sense, but when I'm in a campaign with the available books? Although I do have access on the 2014 feats... uh where can I check the filter by source ooption on mobile
Mobile? I'm more familiar with the browser version, unfortunately.
looking for "Eldritch Knight" as a fighter subclass - we have the players handbook and dm manual, and it's still not showing up?
I can't find anything saying it's in anything besides the core DnD - what am I doing wrong?
Do you have the 2024 PHB?
2014 apparently - I need 2024?
You do if you are making a 2024 character.
You can make a 2014 character by making sure the 2014 core rules is enabled and by scrolling down and selecting that from the class list
You need the 2024 version of the EK if you want to use it for the 2024 fighter
I thought that 2014 had an eldritch knight, and I just checked and confirmed I've got the content ticked in character creation
youre probably using the 2024 version of Fighter
before I assume this requires 2024, am I missing anything?
(2014) vs
(2024)
aaahhhhh, good catch
Is there any way to make it to where spells on homebrew items have limited uses vs being at will? Can't seem to find that anywhere.
Give them charge usage amounts and then give the item charges.
Sorry - I fell asleep because of time zones - If you can tell me where to find it in the desktop version I'm happy with that too xD
The 2014 Core Rules spells aren’t available to select for the 2024 classes.
But if you really wanted to use one, you can make a homebrew copy of it and change its “Available For Class(es)” field.
hello i need a bit of help with dndbeyond
There has been many problems with the subclasses not working correctly like circle of the moon and arcane trickster
I want to create a rogue arcane trickster but it wont allow it on dndbeyond anymore
Are you trying to make it using the 2024 rules or the 2014 rules?
And if you are trying to make it using the 2024 rules do you own the 2024 players handbook on ddb?
2014 I own the original phb
Make sure you have the 2014 core rules enable on the character and that when selecting a class you scroll down far enough to select the 2014 rouge
Yeah, if you want to use those subclasses from the 2014 PHB, you need to use
.
Thanks idk how that skipped me
If you’re using
, you need the subclasses from the 2024 PHB.
The site's not working. What's going on?

What just happened?
Now it's this
Is there a way to do damage die increases depending on level on dndbeyond? something like
Your unarmed strikes do 1d6 damage, which increases to 2d6 at 11th level and 3d6 at 17th level.
Yes it's called level override. You input the information near the bottom after you save the action the first time.
If you are able i would suggest making a homebrew copy of the spell Firebolt to see one way of how to do it
So no way to do it with overriding Unarmed Strike damage die?
cause that is a modifier
That is possible, but only on a subclass afaik.
The damage scaling of cantrips is a separate approach.
How? I am doing it on a subclass
I couldn't figure out how to get it to work
decided to just create a new action instead of just overriding the base unarmed strikes
Does anyone have a link to a video showing how to use the Maps feature in game? I havent played for a very very long time and I am trying to DM for some friends who have never played. We will all be in person, but I thought it might be cool to use the Maps feature to show some of the virtual maps. It doesnt seem it currently keeps track of player or monster health or hit success/damage. I see it does do rolling dice and does seem to add the modifiers. I assume you keep track of the rest manually?
Is there a way to make an attack where you can choose to expend a certain amount of resource into it to alter its effects? Like the Bloodshed Blade's Invoke the Rune ability, but actually making it functional and not just part of the description?
Maps is primarily for tracking tokens on a map. It does have an initiative tracker feature to track combat encounters and folks using DnDBeyond for character sheets can track their hit points on their sheet or you can adjust HP in the initiative tracker. Armor Class for the creature is also displayed but running the attacks/damage is done through character sheets or statblocks (you can pop open the monster statblocks and roll attacks from that directly inside the initiative tracker on Maps).
I don't think this is currently possible.
This article covers everything you can do in Maps:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/posts/1570-d-d-beyond-maps-how-to-start-playing-today
I created a character in DnD beyond.
How do I move the character to a campaign?
This will just be a solo campaign I run for myself.
THank-you
@light widget You need to go to the invite link and add the character
Thus I am the Dungeon Master but would also like to import my character.
I run regular campaigns but also like solo missions.
(You don't need to explain why you're doing this, it doesn't change the solution)
The invite link is in the top right of your campaign homepage
Copy that, navigate to it, then select the character you've made
Thank-you!
Similar to the Warlock pact weapon, is there a way to do that for other ability scores?
For a specific magic weapon, yes.
As a feature that can be applied on the sheet to any weapon, I don't believe so.
Ait, thx
looks like DNDB just crashed... any updates?
Seems to be working fine for me.
so i homebrewed the far realm shard spell
and i homebrewed a feat for it so i can equip it as cantrip if i am a sorc.
before some patch, it was working, but now, the DC does not reflect the actual spell dc of my sorc. I think it does not read that i am wearing bloodwell vial + 3
Bloodwell Vial now correctly applies only to Sorcerer spells, which would not include spells from any feats.
If you want this cantrip to count as a Sorcerer spell, I’d recommend making a homebrew copy of your subclass and adding the spell there instead.
You can use the vial as a spellcasting focus for your spells while wearing or holding it, and you gain a bonus to spell attack rolls and to the saving throw DCs of your sorcerer spells.
So spell save dc =//= sorcerer spell save dc
Normally, it does.
But the Bloodwell Vial explicitly improves it for spells only.
im having a problem with one of my players character sheet. For some reason all of his cantrips and spells that he got from the "magic initiate (druid)" are doubled on his spellist. Its not a huge problem but it gets annoying and takes up alot of space. Anyone know of a solution
My beyond isn't loading. When was the early access for the MM25 again?
Official release date is Feb 18th
Digital early access is Feb 11th for Hero tier and Feb 4th for Master tier subscribers
Also DDB seems to be loading fine for me right now. If you're having a site issue it helps to specify which parts of the site you can't access as they're all different services
How do I create a character without using 2024 options?
Toggle legacy on the character sheet (under sheet options) and select the 2014 version of the class.
Sorry - toggle the 2014 Core Rules.
I have an artificer lvl 1 with all purpose tool +1, but I can't find a way to add shillelagh to my spell list, how do you do?
It's working fine here.
same here
That spell isn't available for an artificer.
You can make a homebrew copy of that spell and add artificer to the available class list if you really want it and your DM allows it.
With the all purpose tool yes
I am having trouble with the homebrew creator so whenever i put the new spell introduced in the 2024 rules to my homebrew subclass it says i cannot post it because of licensed content and i dont know how to fix it
Is the spell part of the free basic rules?
If it isn't then that would be the reason you are getting that error.
But that error only matters if you plan on publishing the homebrew
it is in the player's hand book are there any spells that are not included in the basic rules (the spells are fount of moonlight, Yolande's Regal Presence, and Jallarzi's Storm of Radiance)
You can find the Free Rules spells here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/free-rules/spell-descriptions
Hello, my Paladin as the great weapons trait but D & D Beyond does not re-roll 1 and 2 when I roll for damage. Is this a bug or does it have to be done manually?
it has to be done manualy
hi everyone, i have a player in my campaign who's character sheet wont allow homebrew items to be added. Everything is ticked correctly and all the other plays can add homebrew stuff fine. has anyone else has this happen before?
the bot wont sumbit my looking for dm thing lol
You may need to reinstall Discord - sometimes Discord updates don't take correctly and only a reinstall fixes it.
Or Discord is having a day. Or the bots for that matter.
Sometimea you just have to try a little bit later.
hahah okie dokie <3 thanks!
How do you link the 2024 version of a spell when adding the spell via [spell][/spell] to a homebrew item's description?
Use [spells] instead.
Thanks!
I keep getting a 403 Forbidden error when I try to go to my Characters list, and I'm really not sure what to do from there
how do I create homebrew subclasses?
I have no clue how to make a subclass or homebrew. It always say it is similar to something and don't have the necessary class features with the correct required levels
@pine pivot No, you cannot daisy chain content sharing. Content sharing only shares what you personally own
You don’t have to publish homebrew (make it available to everyone) to use your homebrew creations - it’s usable by you and folks in your campaigns without publishing. We recommend using an existing thing as a base (homebrew copy of an existing thing) that has similar mechanics as what you need to work from. That way you can see how it was made to work in DnDBeyond and then all you have to do is tweak it for your needs.
If using a web browser, please try resetting your browser cache and restarting your browser.
tyvm, i was losing my mind trying to figure out what was going on
why is the filter not working under the encounters tab?
Shame, do you know if there are workarounds? Maybe setting up a feat with options representing each increments of ressources expended?
Possibly create custom attacks on the front of the sheet although those don't connect to any way of tracking consumed resources.
You would have to track that separately still. Maybe through a magical item homebrew as those can have charges...
Yeah I can't think of a good way to do it through DnDBeyond at this time beyond text information in the attack/weapon that tells folks it uses <x> resources to do <y>.
I am having trouble logging into my D&D Beyond account on my laptop. Is there a way to talk to someone about this?
The only way to log in to DnDBeyond is through a Google, Apple, or Wizards of the Coast account. It's also important to make sure that you allow pop-ups on the dndbeyond.com domain as it will have to pop open the login screen from the proper service to authenticate your account.
Also make sure to disable any ad-blocking/VPN extensions in your browser as that can cause issues.
If you still are unable to login, you may need to reach out to customer service for further support.
D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.

I already did the charges suggestion, not much I can do after huh? Bit sad ngl... Would you happen to know how I can make a suggestion of such a feature for DNDB?
Is DnDBeyond down?
Seems to be for me...
appears to be back up
is there any way to modify the damage values of a base weapon? im trying to make a rare magic item mace that does 1d10 dmg instead of the normal 1d6, but i cant find a way to get it to work
No but you can use a different base weapon and relabel it to be the weapon of your choice. E.g. take a shortsword, make a copy of it and rename it to be your special whip weapon that now does 1d6 damage…
Is there a way to make sure a character with a 2024 background and a custom species don't have the ability score boost twice?
When you click on an ability score, you should see where the bonuses come from in the sidebar. If it uses an newer background (first screenshot, Farmer background) from the 2024 PHB, it will say the name of the background. For older backgrounds (second screenshot, Rune Carver background), it will say the name of the species.
I tried submitting a ticket on ddb, but it seems we have a failure to communicate. So I thought I'd ask if anyone else had my problem.
There is a Shambling Pile in MCDM Flee Mortals but apparently there is also a Shambling Pile in Tome of Beasts 1. So, I can't access the FM pile because it's flagged as TOB
Oops, didn't mean to reply to someone else
There isn’t actually a Shambling Pile in TOB. It seems like it just got tagged for the wrong book.
But I’ll let the devs know. Thanks!
does anyone know why my level 3 monk (2014) has a 1d6 unarmed attack? at first i suspected it was because i had a homebrew subclass but i made it myself so it shouldnt
Martial Arts. We don't have a method of disambiguating the Martial Arts granted by the 2014 Monk and the one from the 2024 Monk. As such, all Monks will temporarily match the 2024 Monk's Martial Arts Die until we’re able to fix this.
Fixed!
Dndbeyond down?
Can't load any of my characters, the home page took 30s to finish connecting and loading randomly
I can go to some parts of it for sure
And now it's back, ok
is there away to copy then edit a feat made by someone else? I found a feat so close to what I need i just need to tweak a stat or 2 lol
I’m afraid not
For campaign specific reasons, my DM said my character's unarmed and quarterstaff attacks are all made with advantage. Is there a way to add that to my character sheet to help me track in on DND beyond?
what books have the most subclasses so far i have PHB 2014, 2024, Xanders, Tashas. is there any other prominent book with subclasses?
With the Efreeti Bottle, when the Efreeti grants you 3 wishes, does it use your action to cast the spell or the efreeti's action. Not sure If I can also still use an action while it grants a wish
if i have a preorder and a standard order book through dnd beyond will both ship when the preorder releaser or will they ship one at a time
I'm getting this:
Reference ID: #0ca43941-d30e-11ef-8262-92da0038c878
Browser: Firefox
Addons: Disabled
Try clearing out your browser cache and restarting your browser. Or try a different browser. It looks like you're triggering the security system. Usually pressing that big button under "verify you're human" can tell the system you're not a bot and get you in.
Hey guys! Anyone know why when I'm trying to build a 2024 rogue, the XgTE subclass "Scout" does not appear as a subclass option? As far as I can see it has not been reprinted. And I can see the TCoE Phantom subclass, so legacy subclasses seem to be enabled.
If it hasn't been reprinted (e.g. 2014 subclass) you'll need to use the 2014 rogue base class (use the
not
).
...really? I thought 2014 subclasses retained compatibility with 2024 classes. Like I said, I get content from TCoE as an option (the Phantom).
They do (although it's forward compatibility, not backwards compatibility). For technical reasons DnDBeyond has to treat it as a separate class and thus why you have to start with the 2014 base.
You can definitely use Scout on a 2024 Rogue.
You just need to have access to that subclass and have Expanded Rules enabled for your character.
If my dm is sharing books with his subscription does it also share my books if I’m not the one with the subscription?
Yep!
Is the combat encounter feature of the DDB maps VTT active for everyone?
I have the players and enemies both added to the map and added to initiatives, and there is no option to actually begin the combat the way there is in the tutorial video
Everything is there and working for me.
Could there be an extension that may be interfering?
I am not sure. What sort of extension would interfere with the VTT and prevent a function from being available for a user?
This is from the tutorial video. The red button to actually begin combat isn’t there at all when I have maps VTT open. Perhaps there’s something I needed to do first before it activates? I have my tokens on the map and initiatives assigned
Can you send a screenshot of your screen? And not the video?
I already deleted the session, and after refreshing a few times my map that I uploaded actually appears
Will get back to that point and get a cap if I can
Oof. Gonna politely thank you for your help and bow out. Can’t even keep the page open without the thing crashing. This thing is dead in the water.
Huge question, if I purchase the membership to host a game for my friends and do an online campaign, do my players(friends) also have to get the membership?
if you want content sharing, only the dm of that campaign needs to get the sub
Okay so like even with the maps and all that fun jazz they can see it all as well?
Only the DM needs a Master subscription to use the maps tool
Thank you so much everyone, two of them have never played dnd but they think they might like it so I was trying to find something that didn’t really cost anything (for them)
Can you use homebrew stat blocks in the Maps VTT?
Yes! I've tried it out myself a while ago.
hey hey gamers, I recently bought a digital book, and Im struggling to find the key to redeem it
Can anyone who playes a Barbarian using the D&D Beyond character sheet tell me how in the world to get it to show the different options that the class has? I accidentally figured out how to enable rage, but now I can't figure out how to turn it off, and I have no idea where the Frenzy bonus even lives on there.
Woot! Looks like it's the winner VTT for me then. Appreciate the info. 🫡
Where did you buy it from?
If you click on Rage, you should see the option to enable or disable it in the sidebar.
Frenzy doesn’t have a toggle. You can just roll the damage as needed.
I've gotten a code for Project Sigil from a friend of mine. I redeemed that code for my account on my phone while I was out at a restaurant, I can actually see that it's been redeemed on my DnD Beyond Licenses, but unfortunately as I did it on my phone and I didn't think about it at the time, the download link popped up on my phone and I just thought "oh, I can download it later no problems."
I'm now home at my computer with seemingly no means to download Project Sigil. Like I said, I can see clearly it's under my product licenses. No emails with a download link, either. Anyone know a spot on the website or something where I can download the application?
Click on Rage where? When I click on Rage the sidebar comes up with info about it, but not way to toggle it off
The folks in #sigil-vtt-archive probably know.
Alternatively, that code email should have also included a link to the Project Sigil server here on Discord.
How do I add additional attack options to a homebrew weapon?
Ok, from what I have read elsewhere, this is not currently supported. Let me know if otherwise.
A Spell Attack Modifier = Spell Casting Modifier + Proficiency Bonus.
The Spell Attack Modifier from spells which the character lerns (by class) use this totally.
BUT the Spell Attack Modifier from spell which the character cast by items use the Spell Casting Modifier only if it is positive, not if it is negative.
This should be fixed cause it seems very wrong, isnt it ?
You are correct that this is not currently supported. Some possible work arounds is to use code snippets and rollable tags to insert rollable attack data inside a text description. Or you can also create custom attacks on the front-end of the sheet to represent these additional attack options (on Actions tab, click the Manage Custom).
What is a Snippet?
Have you spotted on the character sheet that it tells you what each feature of your class/race does? Those are snippets.
When creatin...
Earlier this year we introduced a neat feature to the Encounter Builder and Combat Tracker, that allows you to roll digital dice for pretty much every aspect...
Yes that is how you enter rage. How do you turn rage off?
Features & Traits > Rage > Remove the selection
It should have, but I don't see one.
is expirimental elixer somehting that goes on a sheet? i have a level 5 artificer and i own tashas digitally but its not there
another artificer question, how do I add my known infusions to my sheet
Check the status page, if the red button says 'Check Status' it should take you to a page with your code and download links. If the red button says 'Sign up for the Beta', then you may have to wait for the sign up to compete to get the download.

On January 11th, I preordered the Digital/Physical Bundle for the Monster Manual (2024), but there's no indicator in the D&D Beyond Marketplace that I preordered it at all, nor in the account licenses table in the main website. My bank says the purchase is pending, but the $70.55 was still removed from my card. I'm not entirely sure what to do 'cause last time this issue popped up it took just a few days but it's now been almost six and I'm kinda freaking out. Any way y'all could help me out?
Did you buy it directly from D&D Beyond (for US shipping), or from dndstore.wizards.com (for international shipping)?
In the character sheet and builder, it's stuck loading in equipment I added. In addition, I had an 500 internal error when homebrewing.
I bought it directly from D&D Beyond
Wait! It just got sent back to my card a minute ago lol, guess they decided to cancel it since it wasn't going through and the business week is over
Problem solved, thanks for helping though!
anyone know if theres a way to manually add masteries on dnd beyond? not like custom ones, but just enable the item's mastery
my chara only has 4 masteries but the table im at allows em all, but for cosmetic purposes I like seeing the star thing, and the rule for the mastery written out
I'm trying to edit a copy of "Potion of Giant Strength" and I'm trying to expand the table in the description to make a bigger table. What I've tried so far has not worked. Is there a easy way to expand the table?
I figured it out
I added some tooltips in the code of a magic item I'm doing and it shows "[Tooltip Not Found]" for item and magic items that I added to it. But for the condition and actions it shows tooltips. I'm not sure what I did wrong... heres what I put down:
[item]potionofhealing[/item]
[magicitem]potionofgreaterhealing[/magicitem]
[magicitem]potionofmindreading[/magicitem]
[magicitem]potionofanimalfriendship[/magicitem]
[magicitem]potionofheroism[/magicitem]
[magicitem]potionofgrowth[/magicitem]
Any guidence or help would be apprecitated
(I also posted this in #homebrew )
Use spaces.
Did that just now, but it also takes me to the 2014 free rules instead of the 2024 ones.
Just for the potion of healing
Regular potion of healing in 2024 is a magic item, not equipment.
Use [magicitems] instead.
That worked.
Is there a way in the magic item editor to afflict invulnerable on a target? Or is it fine to just leave that part in the description of the item?
Is it known, when the Monster Manual 2024 will be released?
But at what exact time is unknown, right
Usually between 12-2PM EST, but it’s not confirmed directly by DNDB.
This is usually left as part of the description when it is applied to a target. The editor only supports adding Vulnerability to a character carrying an item (or using a feat, etc).
Uh I have a quick question about the new True Strike Cantrip. Is it just me or is the calculation on DnDbeyond wrong.
Because when I chose to attack with the Scimitar and use the True Strike Cantrip, I would expect the normal weapon damage which is a 1d6 + Your Spellcasting Modifier as Damage and then depending on the level the extra 1d6 radiant damage, right?
But right now, when I choose he True Strike from the Scimitar Sheet, it also shows me, that the Spell Modifier is added to the radiant damage...
And this results in stupidly strong attacks since its a flat +10 to damage from a 20 INT
Because normally it would be just: Weapon Die + Spell Mod + 1d6 (depending on level) - Either Radiant or Weapon Type Damage, right?
The text of the cantrip is obviously correct, but its implementation is incorrect, yes. I use custom actions for all of my characters that use True Strike right now for this reason.
Yeah
Can I use DnDBeyond Maps on Mozilla Firefox?
my dice rolls from the character card are not visible on the Game Log...
Yes, you can. I do that.
BUT
my dice rolls from the character card are not visible on the Game Log
Are you the GM and a player or what are you doing?
I just checked and I'm seeing character rolls showing up in my GM'd games.
When rolling on maps it doesn't show the dice animation like it does on the character sheet
it's not about an animated dice roll
it's about Gamelog
my player rolls the dice in his card (Mozilla Firefox) and the GM and other players (Chrome) do not see in Game Log and Maps
Be sure to turn off any browser extensions like beyond 20.
With that said, I noticed this happened during my last session with one of my players. The rest of us were fine but his rolls stopped going to the log about half way through. I don't know why. Chances are good he did something unwittingly tbh.
Great links. I have saved them. I would like the damage to grow with character level. Can snippets and rollables be mixed? I'm trying this code, but it doesn't seem to be computing. Something I can tweak? rollable;{"diceNotation":"{{characterlevel+3}}d6","rollType":"damage","rollAction":"Lightning Bold","rollDamageType":"lightning"}[/rollable]
Hmm, even the non-rollable snippet code isn't showing right. I'm putting it in the description of a homebrew javelin. Am I missing a step?
Hmm, well part of it is that the item doesn't have a character level. But even when it is in a character's possession, it doesn't seem to work.
Hello,
Need some help on DND Beyond, I want to create a artificer character and i cant see it in the list ( I have the subscription )
Do you have Tasha's Cauldron or Eberron?
Did you buy Tasha's or Eberron?
Oh, no i do not have them i thought i just needed the subscription.
Ok, from further reading, I'm gathering that rollables and snippets can only be added to character and monster sheets, not items. 🤷♂️
The subscription doesn't give any access to books.
Yeah, that’s just for book sharing and access to some other tools and monthly perks.
trying to get a snippet to show a save dc that is 8 + proficency + strength mod
i am using this snippet {{ ((modifier:str + 8) + proficiency) }}
but it says Invalid symbol
how do i do this?
{{(modifier:str+8+proficiency)#unsigned}} should work I believe, if memory serves.
I'm assuming you're using this in a context where a STR modifier makes sense, like a subclass feature.
still invalid
(modifier:str+8+proficiency)#unsigned - Invalid symbol
fixed it. needed to remove some extra spaces.
thanks
The Monster Manual 2024 is still not here?
It enters DNDB early access on February 4th, and that date has been known for a very, very long time.
Shouldnt be the official release at 18.01?
18.01?
February my bad
The full launch is February 18th according to this discord server’s events listing.
DNDB subscribers get early access to it digitally.
Also LGSs apparently
Oh yeah! That’s a newish thing. Exciting.
If I bought the 2024 Digital Core Rulebook Bundle on my own account, would I be able to share everything with my DM so he can apply it to our campaign?
I’d recommend a simple {{savedc:str}}
As long as a Master Tier subscriber in the campaign has activated Content Sharing for that campaign, then yes.
?tag ddb contentsharing

Hi I’m trying to add a homebrew subclass for rogue but I can’t seem to find it when I already added it to my collection. (I have a subscription and its 3rd lvl with homebrew turned on)
Is the homebrew you are using for the 2014 rogue or the 2024 rogue? And are you using the corresponding version of rogue?
That’s definitely the problem.
Good call. I didn’t even register that this was the standard STR save DC at first.
Howdy all. Im trying to update a subclass for Wizard and I cant seem to get auto prepared spells to work correctly. I have the class feature set to unlock at level 3, and the spells I want to be automatically put in your spell book. An example of how I would like this to work is in the first screenshot, and how it is functioning is in the second one.
Inside that "time spells" section in the homebrew builder, I have those 4 spells in the spells section, that they consume spell slots when used, do not count towards known spells, and are always prepared. Obviously, they are not always prepared and that is what Im trying to fix.
Does Beyond not support the new version of Agonizing Blast yet? It's supposed to be able to be set to any damage cantrip and taken multiple times but even when making a 2024 Warlock the only option is "Agonizing Blast (Eldritch Blast)"
(It mentions this in the description text but doesn't seem to actually have an option for what cantrip it's tied to.)
Agonizing Blast - This is currently only supported for the Eldritch Blast cantrip
Welcome to the Support Thread for Player’s Handbook!
If you find any issues with the content from the sourcebook, or using it on a D&D Beyond character,...
I have purchased the 2024 PHB and xanathar's guide to everything digitally on my account. I have a 2024 Barbarian, but I don't have path of the zealot available at level 3. Am I missing a purchase, or a step to make this subclass available?
You might want to check if your entitlements are in sync.
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions, or guidance on how to fix this?
I have figured it out.
Quick question! I'm currently playing a 2024 wizard and just got to level 3 and I want to use the Chronurgy subclass from Explorer's Guide to Wildmount but it's not available as an option for me to select. It seems that if I want to use it I'd have to use the 2014 wizard base. Now, I thought that subclasses with no replacement were still available to use on Dndbeyond but that doesn't seem to be the case even though the classes in Explorer's Guide to Wildmount are official Dungeons and Dragons content. Is there a workaround for this so I can use them together, is this something that will be added soon, or am I just SOL for using 2024 wizard with these official subclasses?
( apologize if this has been asked before)
Just as a note - you’ll note that many subclasses that have been published by our various Partners do not appear for the 2024 classes. We’re working with them to update their content for the new rules, but do not have an ETA for those releases.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/204813-players-handbook-issues-and-support-thread
okay thank you so much!
The only workaround at the moment would be to make a homebrew copy of the 2014 version.
Then manually copy everything over to a homebrew subclass for the 2024 Fighter.
Gotcha, thanks! I'll speak with my DM as we didn't realize they weren't compatible and see where to go from here
yo how do you add custom race bonuses to dnd beyond ability scores
Edit character sheet an on the abilities tab scroll down to the relevant skill and over ride it or other modifier
Are the spells gained from any of the Savant features of the Wizard Subclasses supposed to be automatically prepared? It doesn't say it should be in the feature, yet the sheet shows them prepared already from that feature.
Disregard, apparently a known issue.
Hey, just wondering if anyone is able to help, I'm trying to make a subclass for monk that would allow them to cast spells from the cleric options, I can get the subclass to show and options are there but no spells come up just blank options ( even though I have added a load of spells )
Did you set it as being able to use spells and did you give it a feature labeled as "spellcasting"?
Is there a way for warlocks to select agonizing blast multiple times in the app?
Wait do dnd beyond preorders not charge until they ship?
Correct.
(I would really love to know how this happened :D It caused a big laugh at our table.)
gotta say the monster's ENTIRE name every time
(thanks for flagging; this is hilarious)
LMAO
My DM has a habit of granting access to spells and I am trying my best to use the HB system to keep up with it. My solution has been to add a Feat, and then add spells to that feat in order to give myself access to them using the phone app/website mechanics, but one thing I am noticing is that whenever I add a spell to the feat, it is cast "As will" instead of using a spell slot, how can I fix this?
I think I have solved my issue by making an HB subclass
just out of curiosity, why is the viol not available for the musical instruments in the Entertainer background?
Does anyone know where to look for updates on when the site maintenance will be complete? Our game starts in 2-3 hours and I'm getting concerned that the website won't be back in time 😬
- Do the maintenance periods usually run over like this?
- Does anyone know if theres a way to access/download character sheets if the site is down?
Alright this is getting ridiculous what’s taking so long for matinence? It’s almost TWO WHOLE HOURS after the expected time frame it was supposed to be over with. What’s going on(
It might be that some bits are taking them longer than expected to fix. And I don't think there's such a way unless you've linked the character through the Avrae bot, but that doesn't give you everything
Do the team provide update schedules or anything anywhere? I work in tech so I can always understand unexpected delays, but the lack of updates to let the community know a new timeframe is a bit concerning. I'm wondering if I'm just missing where that would be posted
Well, at least the support site is still up, as is the Avrae site
I don't understand why I can't use the app and read my downloaded content. Makes little sense to me
Good point, I'm going to resist sending a support ticket for now as I imagine it wont help 😄
As we can't currently look this up, I can't help much with it but if I recall right (when I use items to do this), there is an option that says "Uses Spell Slots" or of that ilk. you have to mark that so it uses the slots.
#dnd-announcements message well we sort of got an update.....
Well, at least it's better than nothing
I'm sorry, y'all, that's all the info I've got right now, and I'm even more sorry for not being online when maintenance went over time. I've got eyes on it now and will let you know as soon as I know when the site's back up.
Thanks, not your fault at all! 2.5 hours to game time here, I'm crossing everything that the team pulls it off! 🤞
I don't think it'll take that much longer, but i'll also cross all the things for you!
What's the point of using the app if you can't access your downloaded data when you or DDB is offline?
My thoughts exactly
it is unlucky timed that both are offline at the same time... that is tru
Exactly the correct question.
I think you can see the downloaded data when you are offline. But I agree they should still allow it when DDB is offline too.
Sadly you cant
I took my phone offline and you can't.
😲
I feel like I’ve done that before in airplane mode but maybe it was just my character sheets
I think it's possibly if it's offline before the maintence, it might work, but if you try to go offline during it, it still thinks it's under maintence?
Oh yeah, during maintenance, nothing works, which is silly if you have downloaded data
At around 4pm cet I was still able to access the downloaded stuff tried again 1h later and then it also said under maintenance
Well 44 mins until game Session. Me and my group can only hope 🙏
I keep forgetting to download an updated PDF after I make character changes.
thats a mood ^^"
It's been a while is there any estimate time for ddb website to get back on?
I got a session in 1 hour, when is website back
unknown
All we know is they will post in #dnd-announcements when the maintenance is done
its really annoying to pay for a service and not have it
especially to how hard schedueling is
Someone's claiming that DDB is just buying more and more dragon statues on another server.
Original announcement: "Will take about 2 hours." Reality: at least 5 and a half hours and still under maintenance 🤦♂️
We are aware. We are awaiting updates ourselves.
gods coding is the worst... I already have trouble using avrae I don't wanna know what the techwiz's gotta deal with thats it taking this long
this has to be the MM update. I believe there is also formatting that needs to be redone for the statblocks so this is prob a bit more involved than the DMG or PHB releases
at least that's my guess as to the delay.. honestly i would rather wait and know they have it done properly than have them rush to get this done with issues.
I’ve just managed to log on
Same seems to be back!
back up
gasp
Website is up, but I still can't get into the app on android
Can you try to force stop it and clear the cache for it?
Ios app is still down too
Same as above (maybe a phone reboot for iOS).
Tried just the cache, but that didn't work.
Clearing all data did.
Just have to redownload my stuff
i just restarted the app and cleared all my apps, it works (samsung/android)
Restarted iPhone, app still shows under maintenance
Same.
Deleting and reinstalling app fixed it
I cannot share my sources even if i made a campaign.
- Master Tier Subscriber here
Do you have sharing enable in 5 other campaigns?
Yes, it has a limit? 😦
Yeah there is a limit of how many campaigns you can have sharing turned on it at one time
The Master Tier subscription allows a subscriber to enable content sharing for up to 5 campaigns that they are participating in!
Got that
Question here: If I subscribe to either the hero or master plans, will I be able to access Wildemount material in character creation and in play if I do not already have it purchased?
No, neither subscription gives direct access to any of the books.
A Master Tier subscriber can enable Content Sharing for a campaign, though. Then if someone in that campaign owns the book, everyone can use it.
?tag ddb contentsharing
Content Sharing
A player or DM with a Master Tier subscription can enable Content Sharing in up to five campaigns. Once Content Sharing is enabled, any content unlocked by anyone in the campaign gets shared with everyone else, and they can use those shared character options for characters in that campaign. I need help changing my goliath ancestry. It defaults to the stone giant ancestry, and theirs no option to choose from any of the 6 or so other options. please help! I have had the PHB shared to me and even bought it yet i cant change it.
Hi can I get some help please, I'm new to homebrewing. So I have a sword that I'm making and it has special uses. How do I add them to the charges
It seems all my character sheets and campaigns are inaccessible at this moment because of an internal server error.
yeah API errors
The server maintenance in question
the intern pushed git without verifying, it's so over
how many peeps cannot acces their characters on their dnd beyond account? And are they aware of the problem?
Here - Can´t access my character xD
Or campaigns
The devs are aware
That sounds like you picked an older version of Goliath, not the 2024 version.
Are you unable to have access ? Or are they deleted ? Watch mine. They are all totally deleted 😄
It not being able to serve them to you does not mean they are deleted.
Let's see if they can sort it out.
Hey guys so I’m not sure what’s going on but I checked the DNDB website today and at the home page and my character’s there seems to not be there anymore
the website isj ust having some trouble, your characters will come back
And we JUST had maintenance yesterday, that went for OVER FOUR HOURS FROM EXPECTED-
Genuinely cmon man
it'll be right mate just go take a breather
Does not mean it is any less annoying. Having the same problem here
Total website in unavailable on me (now)
so anyone know why it says i have 0/unlimited characters when im supposed to have over 100?
me too
Same
the sheets i had open i can still see but i cant open anything new
same
Not even the maintenance page up though 🤦♂️
i was making a characterrrrrrr
Dmm
yh server shutdown
Same
not even the site
This is what happens when they keep hiring random contractors for 6 months at a time to work on dndbeyond for below market pay. That codebase must be an absolute disaster.
feels bad man,i can understand your pain hahaha
was upsetting my character for my campaign, got real scared for a second there haha
Literally yesterday...there was a maintenance
This is suboptimal for sure. Wanted to use the encounter builder to set something up for tonight - hopefully get a chance later!
It’s probably the maintenance that caused this
Hello, maintenance in progress?? I no longer have access to Beyond.
The site is having issues - the devs are looking into it.
Any ETA? Got a game soon...
At least we can still access our app downloads this time. That’s an improvement.
Another maintenance? Damn, okay.
No ETA but do know the devs are looking into it.
man and i have a session in 50 to lets hope they solve it soon
Known issue - devs are working on it
thanks for being so quick and patience with us you guys are awesome
beyond seems to be working on mobile - seems like its a PC thing
Nope isn't working
You using app?
Certain app features may work without a connection.
there an astamte how long it going to be? (i have a session this evening😅 )
There is no ETA provided. #dnd-announcements message has all the information available.
yeah same here we'll have a session 1 hour later.... X) but looking at the current situation, I'm afraid that it won't happen today 🥲
It sucks but it's nothing we can do about it
You guys really need to fix the no offline access to the app during website outages.
anyone know if there is an ETA for how long its going to be down for?
never mind just read this - apologies XD
my players are saying their characters got deleted and we have a session soon. Is that something that is going to be permanent?
If they were in the middle of character creation, that was probably affected by the current site outage: #dnd-announcements message
Right now we have no ETA as to when it'll be back up, but we're aware and working on the issue.
2 days in a row now… Really annoyed with DDB this week. 😡
they're saying they were looking at characters this morning (they were levelling up) and all their characters were just gone. they couldn't access them to edit
No one can access anything right now because of the outage. If their characters are still gone once the site is back up, then that's another issue to explore
sure thing. 🙂 i can agree that it's a frustrating experience.
Why's there another maintenance? Just curious.
The graphic is inaccurate (we know this and are working on better communication in that regard); this is an actual unexpected outage.
An outage? Oof. Hope it'll get fixed soon.
same 🕯️
Data is fine? Character sheet and stuff?
Should be, as far as I can tell.
All public information is available at #dnd-announcements message
were waiting for updates
If anything else public comes up it'll be said publicly ^_^
Is that a joke? We can't even access cashed/downloaded content in the app?
Can’t access anything when everything is down. That’s unfortunately where things are right now and there’s no way around it unless you already downloaded the material for offline viewing previously (the mobile app can do this but again you have to download things previously for it to work)
I mean, if there is an issue that requires them to disable the whole site, that makes sense yeah :'3
What is the point of downloaded content if I will get stupid maintenance message when you break your service?
Someone has to do a bunch of rollbacks and verify it all works, I guarantee it
It does not. App allows you to download content, this would be so you can have it available without their service
you "download" it to view it offline. You haven't physically downloaded it as a file to your phone or device. If there is something that causes the site and the app to be down, then you won't be able to access anything, let alone offline content
I had most of the books downloaded. I get maintenance message when I open the app and no way to close
Is the auth server dead then?
or there's some data corruption and it's just safer to refuse all calls.
Anyway, we're probably waiting on a deploy snd spin-up pipeline right now
Have you seen the app? It allows for you to get the content on your phone. Presumably for offline view, but it does not work when dsb is down...that is pure trash
That I kinda agree with, an offline viewer that doesn't check for auth first would be nice
This is not a discussion channel. We are aware of the current outage and the devs are working on it. If you have constructive feedback please use #ddb-feedback and keep this channel clear for new issues or when we are able to provide an update.
Is there any way to access my character sheets I have a session in 15 minutes and I really don't want to delay it
The site is currently down. Devs are looking into it.
This also impacts the mobile app if you haven’t already downloaded materials and are working offline.
by downloaded, you mean turn to PDF, right?
That’s one way but I meant by using the mobile app. You can download materials to your device and read/access it while offline.
I just tried opening it, its giving me the maintenance message
Try setting your phone to airplane mode
But hopefully soon this issue will be resolved and DDB will be back and operational again.
I think if you have already opened the app and recieved the error message you won't be able to access it at all even in airplane mode
Force stop the app, try clearing cache
I just came to report this exact issue. I can access the offline content on my tablet because it's not connected to the Internet, but the module I need I have cached on my phone.
ive got the website working
Same. It's back up for me
It's back
I saw it on mobile let's hope it stay up
I just checked and it's still down for me.
Eta: Oh. Just saw the above about force-stop and clear cache. I'll try that.
Eta: just tested the advice. App is still down.
Eta: I can get on the website, just not the app.
mobile website is back up (for me at least)
back up folks
Mobile app isn't. Website is.
my players have lost some of their saved characters and are freaking out. oddly all of mine are fine.
try force closing and reopening the app.. works for me now
i dont have the app but those of my players that do say it's working for them. maybe try restarting your device?
I've force closed, and cleared cache multiple times now. Still getting the maintenance message when I open the app. I can get on the website just fine though.
Device restart didn't change anything.
So, the way it works is that the first time you access the app, it attempts to ask the website for an updated book catalog. If it reaches a "maintenance message" then the app won't be accessible due to that maintenance. If you only access it during offline mode, it never asks for an updated catalog, and so it works without issue even if DNDB is in maintenance.
I've been told that limited app functionality is a caching issue that will be resolved soon. If they can use the mobile browser to access their character sheets, that will be the best course of action for now.
reinstalling worked for me
I still have a empty "Manage Inventory" at all characters in the app. When i add in browser a item to a character it get synced into the app at the character.
De- and reinstall app, used toggled modem and phone internet, cleared cache and more but nothing worked.
Okay so I'm creating a feat for a friends game and for some reason under add options its not giving me the ability to add an actual option and for some reason instead its giving me the ability to add an action instead even though theres a dedicated add action section. Does any one know why this is? (I figured this would be the best place to ask this sorry if I got it wrong)
That screen shot is your Option.
Adding an Action there would mean that a character gains that Action when this Option is selected.
(Think this is better for here I Guess)
I think the Calculation for the Illrigger AC is broken if you have the Combat Mastery Bravado with a Race that has Natural Armor
Should be only one Unarmored Bonus if I'm correct Right ?
Correct. Those shouldn’t stack. You can manually subtract the lower one with the Customize button.
Yes, I only wanted to report this so It can be fixed eventually. ^^
Hi all, I had a question. In character creation, I'm only seeing one Barbarian subclass? I've purchased the new handbook, and I'm wanting to choose Path of the Wild Heart...
Are you using
or
2024, I'm showing that second darker axe graphic at the top of the screen
You likely need to sync your Account Entitlements then. Go to your Account page, then to Licenses, then click the "Sync Entitlements" button at the top.
Top of the Licenses page does say "Your entitlements data is in sync!" Might try contacting their support team next
If you personally own the 2024 PHB, your entitlements are in sync, and you still cannot use the 2024 subclasses on the 2024 classes then support may be your best bet. If they are shared with you, take note that you'd need to create the character in the campaign where it is shared with you for it to appear.
Well, joining my intended campaign did suddenly enable all the subclass and background options I was missing before. But still a mystery why I was seeing "Berserker" only when creating the character sans campaign, and only "Acolyte, Criminal, Soldier, Sage" for backgrounds. Anyway, got the character sheet I wanted now. Thanks for the tips y'all.

I dont seem to be seeing Hex on my spell list?
Your Eldritch Hex feature says it's always prepared, but it's not showing up in the spell list. That does look like a bug, yes.
How do you add an elemental spirit statblock via summon elemental to a player's character sheet for them to keep track of HP etc.?
You should be able to add it from the extras tab
Currently only getting the 2014 elemental stat blocks
This is just a guess but that may be because the 2024 Monster Manual isn't out yet
Yeah that was where I was leaning as well but it’s curious that the Druid wild shapes are available and the stat block for the elemental spirit is already in the spell notes
The only things available are actual Monster stat blocks. The summon spells do not summon Monsters and so won’t have stat blocks in the MM. My recommendation would be to just add a “water elemental” or whichever, edit its max HP, and then track it that way. Then they can add a custom action to their sheet for its attacks.
Im unable to get this black overlay off my screen, it won't let me click anything behind it.
If I click on it then it brings me to Discord to an invite to this server.
Ive never seen that before.
Have you tried closing all your tabs and reopening your character?
I noticed that Homebrew Backgrounds don't yet support the ASI bonus from the 2024 rules
Somehow worked, thank you
Is there a place to a player to click to roll a tools check with their proficiency bonus calculated from the PCs sheet?
You can make custom skill slots for things like that.
Hello. Is there a way to apply markup to custom actions for the description? Right now it's just a wall of text and I'd like to add line breaks, bullets, italicized text, etc.
Never mind, just realized it's HTML.
hey, I opened up maps and I can't find maps to Lost Mine of Phandelver, which is free on D&D Beyond
I can see Phandelvar and Below: The Shattered Obelisk under the Adventures section in the maps. But you would have to own that adventure book under your account to be able to use maps from it in Maps. I'm not sure if they ever brought the original Lost Mines adventure maps to the Maps tool.
Actually, this only works temporarily and then it resets the description to a wall of text with no markup.
Is there a way to have permanent formatting to custom action descriptions?
For context, I am re-creating a custom action for the Arms of the Astral Self Summoning because even though Monk dice are set to 2024 even in 2014, the subclass is still using 2014 dice in my 2024 build for its features. 😅
And since there's no option to modify the dice in the actual bonus action (only add a static modifier) I have to create a custom action. But the description looks like this instead of nicely formatted.
You can use carriage returns at least without issue. I don’t believe that custom actions are supposed to have markup otherwise, though.
Okay. I just bought "Phandelvar and Below: The Shattered Obelisk", but unfortunately, I can't see the maps under the maps tool of D&D Beyond. What happened?
Never mind! I see it now!
There hasn't been any progress on getting the back catalog of sourcebooks and adventures into the Maps tool since June. Any update on that?
I swear there was some, but I do know that the same team which does it also handles getting books like the new PHB, DMG, MM, and all the 3PP in too.
There were some of the back catalog done in June, but none since then. For example, Tales from the Yawning Portal is still not supported.
AFAIK, the most recent releases were in October (for AI and GGTR).
There were also releases in September (though I'm not sure what) and August (EGTW and SAIS).
So I’m having some trouble accessing a Homebrew I started working on yesterday. I’m almost finished with it, nothing too crazy, just a rework of the Shadar-Kai to make it blend better with the 2025/5.5 rules elves. So I got on DnD Beyond like I always do and for some reason I can’t open the page for it. In fact, it’s not the only one. Some of the Homebrew creations I can open, some of them I can’t. And there’s no clear pattern. I’ve refreshed. I’ve used different accounts. It’s always the same. I never had this problem with any of these creations before. Does anyone know what’s causing this and/or how to fix it? I’ve got a game tonight that I’m hoping to use this content in.
Try clearing your browser cache and restarting your browser. Sometimes the cache gets out of date and it can cause issues.
Hello! I just bought the "xanathar's guide to everything" so I could create a Ranger Gloomstalker
However when I click in subclasses it only shows me the one from the core book, horizon walker and monster slayer
I dont know if I am doing something wrong or if gloomstalker is in another book so if someone could help me I appreciate
Do you have the expanded rules turned on?
And are your entitlements in sync?
This is likely due to the Gloomstalker being reprinted for the 2024 version of the rules.
If you're using a 2024 ranger base class, you're not going to see the 2014 version of the gloomstalker subclass. You'd need the 2024 PHB for that.
If you switch to the 2014 ranger base class, it should show up.
Still nothing. Any other ideas?
@robust turtle Which version of the Ranger class are you using? The 2024 version, at the top of that page of the character builder? Or the Legacy version from 2014, which is further down the page?
(EDIT: replied to the wrong comment)
What happens when you try to open it, exactly?
Do you get the same issue in another browser or on another device?
Absolutely nothing. The tab changes to a darkened grey when I touch it, like most icons do when you interact with them, but other than that nothing. The blue “+” icon to the right doesn’t even change. To reveal more information. There’s no option to view or edit. Nothing.
Happens in Safari and Google both.
Is that on a phone?
This may sound silly, but what happens if you turn your phone sideways? 👀
Alas, I gave that a try as well. DDB does have a habit of hiding icons on mobile until you turn it sideways, but while it did reveal public stats, it didn’t let me access it.
Hello,
I’ve been attempting to speak with D&D Beyond staff via support tickets for almost a month but have been getting nowhere. Perhaps this message might help.
I subscribed to a D&D Beyond Master Tier but was charged twice for it. After submitted a support ticket, I received an initial “can you please tell us more about the issue” response from staff, which I provided photos of my credit card statement. Afterwards, I received no reply for almost 2 weeks, despite requesting updates. I decided to involve my credit card company and they cancelled the duplicate charge.
However, I found out a few days ago that my Master Tier subscription had been cancelled, despite me still having paid my original subscription fee. As it was hours before my weekly game night, I signed up for a free trial so that we could have our game and I could figure it out later. After singing up for a free trial, I immediately received another $54.99 charge for a subcription.
After no responses from my support tickets, I called Wizards of the Coast yesterday to try to get someone on the phone. They responded that they can’t help me because it’s a different department. I asked to speak with a supervisor and they said one would call me back that day. No one called.
Just a few minutes ago, I went on D&D Beyond to plan for my next game and I received the message below that I have been banned. I really do not know what to do. I have paid twice for a subscription, have done nothing wrong, have tried to reach out for support, and this is how I am being treated.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately, no one here can help you better than support can.

D&D Beyond customer support can be contacted at the link below. Requests are answered in the order they're received. Submitting multiple requests for the same issue can result in a delayed response.
http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
Almost got it! 😉
And yes Rising Dusk is correct that you'll need to reach out to Customer Service to deal with account/purchasing questions.
Thanks for helping, all. When you say Customer Service, do you mean this ticket submission?
Yes
Thank you. I wish that wasn’t the case though, they’ve been no help. Sigh.
They are the ones who have the tools and capability of addressing your issue.
Part of the issue is that when you reply to your ticket like you did it will push it to the back of the queue. Waiting for them to reply will be needed.
Good idea, thank you.
Is there a way to search inside a book specifically on PC?
I know I can do it on mobile.
I’m afraid not. Only in the app.
That would be good feedback though. I could definitely see a good use case for search functionality like that (localized to a specific set of content).
Is there a list of known issues DDB Dev team is working on? For example this bug: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/bugs-support/205405-bug-2024-ritual-caster-feat-does-not-add-spells
Seems to have been reported months ago and is still broken.

There is no public board for that, no.
Does someone delete copyright violations on image uploads to private (unpublished) homebrew, or is there some sort of server error? Several of my latest private homebrew entries that use images from Magic cards have broken images.
guys i need help. So basically, i now have the player’s handbook 2024 digital, but i have trouble trying to find the redemption key in the email. anyone have any idea?
You bought it from dndstore.wizards.com?
The code itself won’t be in the email, but there should be a link to get it.
Only published homebrew is monitored, and if it violated copyright rules, the entire thing would have been removed from publication.
nope, from dnd beyond
DnDBeyond does not have a public API so no.
Some third-party developers have created web extensions to pass dice rolls from DnDBeyond into Roll20 or other VTTs but that's not officially supported by either DnDBeyond or those other VTTs.
Then you’d only need a code if it was a gift purchase, in which case you can find that here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/my-gifts
but it seems i need to redeem a key
Weird thing is only the images I got from Scryfall are affected.
Edit: Ah, refreshing the browser cache fixed it.
So I take it you purchased the book on DDB but still aren’t able to access it? If so, I’d suggest checking if your entitlements are in sync.
Is there anyway to force/set a different spellcasting ability? Like if I wanted my wizard to use Charisma instead of Intelligence for spell casting attacks and save DC?
Either through manipulation of the sheet, or homebrewing an item or feat?
I think you can make a homebrew copy of the subclass and change its spellcasting ability.
(But that obviously only works at levels where you’ve unlocked a subclass.)
Can you port characters from D&D Beyond to Roll 20 and vise versus?
There isn't such a supported tool by either platform. However, there are some independent plugins that you can search for online. Just keep in mind these tools are not officially supported by either platform.
Had a feeling this would be the case, thank you kindly
has any1 created a homebrew 2024 versions or artificer? not the UA, its jsut that updated spells and items for infusion
Hello,
Since a while, i have trouble to update my character sheet in the app after making some changes in the character manager. I am stuck in the app with several older versions. Is there a way to make this update?
is there a way to add runes to items on dndbeyond, cos of rune knight?
So I’m still not able to access my homebrew. But at least I was given an error page when I tried it the first time this morning. So, progress? Maybe?
It's most likely that a piece of homebrew is severely broke. You will need to reach out to support.

Hey all, I was updating a subclass to use with the 2024 Cleric, and I have the message "This homebrew Subclass does not have the necessary class features with the correct required levels." The new levels for Cleric are 3,6,and 17? Everything is set those levels, and everything is granted. I'm not sure what else to do.
It doesn't matter if you don't publish it. You can use it as private homebrew for yourself and/or your group. Also, make sure you made it for 2024 Cleric and not 2014 by mistake.
I am aware it doesnt matter if Im just using it for myself, but I'd like to know how to fix it incase I ever do make a subcalss I do want to publish. it is for the '24 version of Cleric
Try saving it again, it's possible it's just cached from before you finished. I've seen that happen before.
Ive saved every 30 minutes for the past 4 hours with no change
odd, I have the same subclass replicated and it seems fine to me (though I seem to have less features than you even though I copied everything directly from the 2014 subclass, I guess you made some changes)
Make sure you're not linking to Not SRD spells.
Doesn't that give a different error, though?
Now its saying it contains non-English with no changes made to any of the text I dont believe its linking to not SRD spells? Im not sure where to check that.
Yeah it would - but mentioning it as a possible thing to check.
Watery Sphere is a non-SRD spell--it's from the Elemental Evil Player's Companion
Watery sphere removed and replaced with Aura of Life, and I also removed the proficiency bonus for taking the subclass, and the error is still there.
Unfortunately I've got nothing else at the moment without looking at each individual feature, sorry.
All good, friend. Im unsure as well. I believe I have my dms open if you can think of anything else. I appreciate the help
Apparently they are not open, so here's my suggestion:
Just had a thought: if you make a straight copy of the original subclass like I did, it should work OK, barring copyright blocks. Maybe you can start with that, then change things one at a time until it gives the error?
not sure if this is the proper place to ask, is there a way to create/remove a feat on dndbeyond? I'm wanting to remove my alert feat and add the observant feat and cant really figure it out
On the front end of the sheet (assuming using web, not mobile app) click on the Features & Traits tab (in the panel with Actions).
Scroll down to the Feats section and click Manage Feats.
Add/Delete feats as needed.
how do you make a homebrew spell use a saving throw? I'm trying to make one that has a dex save but it still makes me roll a d20 to hit
ok i think my issue is just due to it being an origin feat that I'm trying to change. I may just have to wait until level 4 to add observant
I suggest taking an existing spell that requires a saving throw and make a copy of it - then see how they set it up.
How do I set up a Scimitar that uses CHA for attack/damage rolls?
Is there a way to add spells from off of a character's spell list, as a result of things like the Well card from the Deck of Many More Things? (3 cantrips of player's choice from any spell lists)
Anyone know when dnd beyond is gonna be back up?
From what I remember, it's going to be 4-6 hours. I can double check on the support site in case it's there.
Edit: Nope, it doesn't have the details there. But I do remember something about it being until about 10AM their time?
Easy way could be , just make a feat or magic item and add it to their sheet
It's back up now.
guys how do i use my hombrew spells. i can only see copies of orginal spells that i didnt even edit
If you've set it up correctly and have Homebrew enabled for that character, they should be selectable like any other spell.
If you're seeing spells that don't belong to you, they probably belong to someone else in that campaign.
If you're not seeing your own spell, then it's probably not set up correctly. Did you set it up for the right class? (A spell made for a 2014 cleric won't be visible for a 2024 cleric, for example.)
is there early access for 2024 Monster Manual?
Yes if you pre-ordered and have a DnDBeyond subscription.
I recently got XGte but for some reason I didn’t get all of the warlock eldritch evocations in the book, do I need player handbook 2024 for the rest?
It’s available Feb 4 for Master Tier subscribers (and in US/CAN local game stores), or Feb 11 for Hero Tier.
Are you using the 2014 Warlock class? (Those invocations aren’t currently available on the 2024 class.)
Mb, the reason I didn’t notice the legacy one was a different banner color
At one of my LGSs we're running the free adventure supporting the new Monster Manual release. First question: why we only got three codes. Second question: gave the DDB redemption code to one of my DMs, entered it and showed claimed successfully, clicked on the adventure and it errors out. Can't find it in claimed content either. What's the best way to get support for this issue?
Hello there!
I’m having a little trouble with Beyond’s homebrew system.
I want to create a subclass for clerics, but when I put all the features in place, Beyond says:
This homebrew Subclass does not have the necessary class features with the correct required levels.
The 2024 cleric has the following features at the following levels:
3rd: Normal Feature
3rd: Expanded Spell List
3rd: Channel Divinity
6th: Normal Feature
17th: Normal Feature
Looking at the Life Domain, Beyond also adds the expanded domain spell list into the base of the class.
I have used the Life cleric as a template, and just replaced everything with my own.
I have also filled out the Basic Information, and the “Short Description” Fields, so that shouldn’t be what creates the error.
I have spend some time trying some things with the spell list, but it doesn’t appear like that changes anything - I might be wrong, here.
I’d love to know how to fix or circumvent this, or at least what causes it. Thanks!
Scrolling up, I found that I am not the only person with the issue, but I also found that it doesn’t appear to be resolved yet.
This is the third time I am trying to create this subclass - my second attempt at trying to copy the official Life Domain cleric subclass and gradually changing everything.
I had it working with this attempt until quite a late stage - until I started messing around with the spells.
The error is always the same. When I leave everything as the Life Domain, is, Beyond tells me the same, as when I try changing it to my actual spells. Sometimes, it gives a second error message together with the first, says that the spells aren’t all “Core Rules” - but whenever I adjust, it just goes back to spewing out the old error messages. le sigh
I don’t know what to do. But since it’s a reoccurring issue, it might not be all on my side.
To give even more info:
Image 1: Life Domain -> Exemplar Domain, only a single Feature changed.
Image 2 (which is the exact same as image 1) is of an entirely replaced Life Domain cleric -> Exemplar Domain
I changed everything, including Features, and the Feature’s Actions. I left the spells in the Base completely untouched, so those are still the same.
Image 3 is of a single spell switched - Aid for Spiritual Weapon. Changed both in the base, and in the Description of the Feature.
I found a way - removing revivify from the base spell list somehow helped. I don’t know why.
But now, trying to edit just the base flavor disallows updating the subclass.
Something feels quite wrong here.
anybody know why i cant use my hombrew spells exceapt the ones that are copies of orginal spells
have you clicked the homebrew option on the character sheet?
Is there a way to add a specific spell to hidden ace?
Just wondering, is the February 18th release date for the monster manual including the early access from a subscription?
Master Tier subscribers get access two weeks early (Feb. 4).
And Hero Tier gets it one week early (Feb. 11).
Did you add them for the right class? (2014 and 2024 cleric are two different classes, for example; spells added for one won't be shown to the other.)
Not currently, but you could make a homebrew copy of that feat and add it.
(It's not baked in because certain details like spellcasting ability may change depending on the character.)
ah your right im currently using 2014 but i made it 2024
guys is it possible for a spell to do both 1d4 damage and 1d12 at the same time and if their is pls do tell me what it is called
I did just claim it. Odd that we were given redemption codes through the WPN to run this adventure as part of the new MM release but here it is anyone can download without the codes.
Will the UA revised subclasses (like bladesinge) be dual to the current one or will there be only the new one and the pld get deleted ?
UA material doesn't get put into the character builder. If you're building a Bladesinger on DDB, it will be the version that's in Tasha's.
We have no info on how the final version will interact with the character builder right now.
Both, the 2014 and 2024 Bladesinger have the SCAG and not the TCoE tag. 🙂
Okay cause the DDB released UA info from today about the revised subclasses confused me a bit, which version we will have then at the 2024 wizards at characterbuilding 🙂
But we will surely see how the final result it.
Best Regards to you 🙂
Understood! I totally get the confusion (and didn't know Bladesinger was still listed as a SCAG subclass).
if were sub on DDB do we have early access to Monster manual if we preorder ?
Yep! Master Tier subscribers can access it next Tuesday, Feb. 4.
Or the following Tuesday, Feb. 11, for Hero Tier subscribers.
ok on feb 4, thanks
will the new one shot adventure become available later on general users?
Is there a way to set the D&DB character builder to use 2014 Core instead of 2024 Core. Doing a 1-shot tonight and the DM has set it for 2014 as we will be doing an older module.
You can't disable the 2024 content, but you can select a 2014 core class. Just make sure you have "2014 Core Rules" enabled and then scroll down when selecting a class. You'll see a second set of classes under a '2014 Core Rules' header.
I'm trying to homebrew a spell, the fire one scales with spell level perfectly, but the other one doesnt???
Are Tasha's Cauldron of Everything and Xanathar's Guide to Everything compatible in DNDBeyond with 2024 core rulebooks?
I hope
and what about the treasure trove of modules, are they compatible with 2024 core rulebooks? Yeah I would hope so too but before I drop a wad of cash I want to know for sure. Any help mods?
They are
Modules are simply prewritten adventures
As I look through the marketplace, there are very few books that say on the title art icon that they are compatible with 2024. So the core books are compatible. Alright I'll take your word for it, thanks.
Yes except for the optional class features.
So those optional class features aren't a selectable option in character creation and progression on the DNDBeyond digital online character sheet?
for 2024 yeah
That seems like a pretty critical thing to leave out. Is there a timeline on when they will become selectable, or is there at least a workaround where a DM can use custom options to input them into their campaign?
That's because the options on D&DBeyond only work for the 2014 versions of the classes. It counts as separate classes, for lack of a better term.
That's too bad. So if you want your players to use the DNDbeyond digital sheet, they just miss out on the optional features, or is there a way to custom enter them and allow them to be used? I guess it would be classified as homebrew content in DNDbeyond?
I should point out that most of the optional features have been integrated into the 2024 classes.
Ah well that does change things. Thank you for that.
Hi all, is there any way to export a character sheet to the 2024 version of the sheet layout? Kind of disappointed the the default export to pdf feature transfers your details to a 2014 layout of the character sheet
guys when making a hombrew spell how do u make the spell so that rather being restrained by spell slots it has its own spell slots like healing word
Healing Word requires a spell slot, do you mean so that it can be upcast at higher levels?
You can make a homebrew copy of Healing Word if you want to see exactly how it was set up.
no i think in 2024 rules it doesnt take a spell slot but instead can only be used once
Hey, I was wondering if it was possible to make a weapon type in dnd beyond that is not based off an existing one?
For example, a set of magical instruments that would be used as weapons to deal damage
Not as an item, but you could try adding it as a custom action directly on the character sheet.
Go to the Actions tab and hit the Manage Custom button in the top right corner.
unfortunate, thank you anyways
Will humblewood tales come to the dnd beyond app?
Are you looking at a feat where it can be used once per Long Rest/Short Rest instead of a spell slot?
Upon searching, I see the spell Healing Word listed as a first level spell slot for dnd 2024
its a 1st lvl spell but yes the feat i mean
Gotcha. If you want to have a spell be used once per long rest or short rest instead of a spell slot, then you need to make a homebrew feat, not a homebrew spell. Spells by nature use spell slots, but you can make feats to allow you to instead use spells a number of times per Long or Short Rest instead. That will be the way to do it!
If the spell is an original creation and not an existing 5e spell, you could make a homebrew spell, then the homebrew feat, but if you plan to publish this for public use, you might encounter issues where people download one and not the other and make the feat useless. Alternatively, you can instead make the "spell" simply an action in your feat.
For example, instead of saying "this feat allows you to cast the spell 'Healing Word' once per long rest without consuming a spell slot" you could instead word the feat as "this feat allows you to heal a creature for 2d4 hit points once per long rest" thus allowing you to just homebrew a feat and not have to worry about making the spell too. I hope this makes sense!
It should be there already. You might try restarting the app if you don’t see it yet.
Ran into something...our crew uses the 2014 rules, but the monk martial arts appears to be using the 2024. Our monk has created a custom attack, but I was wondering if that is something that could actually be fixed to match the monk class chosen. And yes, they did choose the 2014 version.
That is currently documented as a limitation right now.
