Looks are simply a part of your shell. Your body, your face, your hair. They are subjective, and yes, they do attract in the short-term but in the long-run it's actually your true self that matters. People will soon see through your makeup and hair gel and plastic surgery. They will forget what you look like but will never forget how you made them feel. What I would say is that a person should spend time and energy on hygiene and just basic skincare rather than obsessing about plastic surgery and crying about their appearance

Society is horrible, they just see someone who does not fit into the beauty standard and just runs them down. But trust me, if the most beautiful woman made you feel like crap, you wouldn't wanna spend a minute with her.

Beauty is subjective, but some personality traits are objective and universal.

Gratitude
Politeness
Honesty
Empathy

This is what matters. Focus on improving this aspect of yourself rather than following fashion and makeup trends.

If someone truly loves you, they will love you even when your back is hunched and your hair is grey and your face is wrinkled

Imma rant a bit about a popular theory in psychology called the 7/11 rule. This basically states that any stranger looks at you and within 7 seconds, form an opinion on you. Your "First" impression. All it takes is 7 mere fucking seconds. In those 7 seconds, your looks, appearance, how you carry yourself, your tone, your gestures, your aura, your scent, and many such inputs from the 5 senses form an opinion of you in the mind of others. And this is a very very very lasting impression. People may not remember what you said exactly when you first met them or what they did with you but they would defo remember what you were like and how comfortable they felt with you and stuff like that. Apparently there are 11 conclusions about you they make in those 7 seconds but uhhhhhh................ its pretty difficult to back those "11 conclusions" claim. Anyhow what can be said with certainty is the fact that people are quick to make opinion whether consciously or unconsciously, and its pretty difficult to change them once they are formed. And it is also pretty spontaneous, you defo won't get to explore someone's entire personality in mere seconds.

So yeah, looks matter for first impressions and they last much longer than what you think

However on the bright side,

if someone does put in enough effort and crosses the layer of "initial impressions"
