#neorodivergence

As someone with adhd, I agree
Same
It all boils down to the "education" system
We spend much of our time in school so its logical for it to be presumed to be our second home. Therefore it must be improved and renewed and altered to a better education system
It's sad that most people aren't aware of such problems in our reality
But I'd assume it would be an act of malice rather than love if education isn't based off of equity
Throughout the majority of my life I grew up not understanding why I was so different than my peers and it only hit once I decided on doing my own research
I agree with them, it's really terrible how neurodivergence is portrayed on social media. It really stigmatizes it and reinforces a lot of stereotypes. It's so important to have an equitable educational system that supports everyone instead of a system that only caters to a select few. Like that's insane tbh
Real we should spread the word
We are the next generation and the future. So how will we improve the system? How will we govern our world and reshape it to support everyone so that we are all comfortable
Fr, I thought adhd was all about hyperactivity and "..oo is that a squirrel?" Media failed us on this part.
Same I felt like I was different from others and at first I thought it was them being weird I thought I was normal but as I grew I realized I was the one who was diff and then when I did research I ended up knowing about it
Adhd is much more than that I hate being like this it really affect my daily life tbh
Exactly 🔥
Nah I was always labelled as annoying, but I couldn't help but ask myself why everyone thought this way 🤣
People didn't even talk to me 💀 and some said it on face yeah that I was annoying
They often oversimplify them and stereotype them to a point where they dont reflect the reality of the condition at all
The world is a strange place, we are alienated to a planet that is supposedly our home
We need to strive for change
Exactly
It's definitely important to strive for change, we need to improve our society and make it more welcoming for everyone no matter what
It's a spectrum and therefore it has to come in different states, shapes and sizes for everyone. It truly differs from person to person
Yes🔥🔥🔥🔥
My only motivation, since I only rely on it at this point
How did you figure out it was adhd?
It truly is a unique experience for everyone like everyone having diff shi and it shouldnt be simplified into a single stereotype
I googled it first and then visited a doc
Wbu
Are you prescribed now?
I was desperate to find out why I struggled so much with school, sorta bumped into a video that talked about adhd from a youtuber called "how to adhd" and realized that the shit she says resembled me completely, I researched and continued reading about it until I was sure that I had it
Not really
damnn
Something similar happened to me my friend idk she sent me a ss of it and said “You match all of this” and then I did research myself and then I visited a doc
Ohh, have you noticed any improvement ever since your visit?
not really it's getting worse 😭
SIR WHAT 😭
HOWS IT GETTING WORSE ;-;
You should definitely let them know what's happening
Yes true or I'm doomed 😭
Spotting ADHD in girls is hard for that very reason
Majority of girls with ADHD(or ADD) tend to be quite timid and don't adopt the hyperactive stigma people have placed upon adhd
Girls in genreal are much better at masking their symptoms then men which makes it reallllyyyy hard to spot it
It's unfortunate that most people go throughout their life thinking that they are simply worse because of a different way of thinking
ADHD can't really get worse unless your lifestyle is getting worse as it's a neurological issue
I'd reccomend taking the behavioral therapy your psychotherapist/psychiatrist has told you to do more seriously
It helps alot
I sort of ditched that part because I was so hasty in becoming academically validated so I rushed it through with the meds thinking it would atleast provide me an additional benefit as I study. But really, I'm as messy as I were before it. I should consider behavioural therapy after my igcse
I only thought it would waste my time, but the sheer essence of it's making makes me understand that it was made for a reason and that I should give it a shot and that that reason in particular had worked for many people before and continue to work for people, otherwise why would it be made in the first place and continue to coexist today
Yeah I should
I should talk it through with my doctor after m/j
Absolutely, I remember studying people as a kid and act like they did to be perceived normal.
I only grew and became better at it
But it was always something I did, but never acknowledged doing.
Start now, the quality of your studies will improve alot
Plus, you and I both know that there is a high chance you may forget🥲
The adhd brain works much better when you have a structured day
THIS IS SO TRUE 😭
Exercise and sleep is probably the best thing before medication
Then it is just a matter of how many habits you can accumulate over the day
Since they build up really quick
Getting the necessary vitamins and omega-3 acid is very important aswell
I used to have a major issue with brain fog in the past since I didn't get the proper nutrition
Additionally, since we are still in puberty we have the huge advantage of supplementing our body with nutrients that we need in order to grow with more quality
Adults on the other hand, would have a much harder time at changing as their body is already done growing
So I'd highly advice you take care of your body as much as you can and nurture it so you can reap the benifets
Also, adhd can "dissipate" when entering adult hood
Behavioral therapy helps with that
As your brain is able to prioritize growth in what it needs, and organizes your neurological structure to adapt
I was abit shocked before you added the quotation marks 😭
It's a neurological issue, meaning it is the way your brain is structured
Does that mean that medication wouldn't be needed by then?
But besides the structure, you can be entirely ridden from ADHD
Yes
I can go off medication for around 4 days without any problem if I maintain a proper routine
Infact, my ability to focus degrades exponentially regardless if I took my medication or not
If I don't maintain a healthy lifestyle
Ohh, so it's only dependant on your life style and habits
(I say this as I'm procrastinating mathematics)
It's reliant on your lifestyle
I assumed that because our dopamine level is screwed, we'd have to depend on medications for the rest of our life
Nothing can entirely depend on something besides your heart beating
Isn't screwed, just lower baseline
(Me who's also procrastinating and has an exam in 3 days)
Our brain would actually be ideal if we were living in the stone age
We just have a different way of thinking
Not a entirely bad thing
The world is structured for people who arnt neurodivergent
Therefore it's harder for neurodivergent people to adapt
Exactly
Not entirely a bad thing, you should use it to your advantage
Advantage?
I have been called "smart" countless times just because I use my different way of thinking to my advantage
Just breakdown what adhd does to you and compare it to a more orthodox way of thinking
You'll find that you usually view stuff from different view points
More thoughts
Desire to find a solution at the end
Asking more questions
More impulsive
Etc
You also may take stuff more literally
Which I found out while speaking to my doc
There are many aspects the neurodivergent people have that other dont
And vice versa
We all lack something
Asides from procrastinating and the constant mission on searching for motivation, nothings quite advantageous about adhd because it doesn't directly help me reach my goals
And it's our job to fill them
If I'm not mistaken, Albert einstien, Bill gates, and leonardo da vinci all had adhd
One thing they had in common is that they were always outside the box
I don't think they did, people like to label that off just to make themselves feel better
And has an insatiable curiosity towards something greater
Bill gates takes meds
They were so focused, which to me, is never a trait I had before meds
Albert einstiens impulsivity and hyper focus led historians to believe so
You have a misconception with adhd
You just have the tendency to get distracted
Not the lack of focus
People with adhd can focus much more than the average person
That's a fact
That is IF they had a reason to
They just struggle to do so as it tends to only apply to stuff they enjoy
Deadlines don't work on me anymore
The people I mentioned above, all loved what they did
They were motivated by something great
They found that reason
Deadlines are horrible
But you'll eventually get bored of it because of our constant dopamine craving
Probably a spectrum
It's been proven that the brain struggles to comprehend deadlines
Not when you constantly ask questions
Prior to my mocks in igcse, I hated chemistry
It never appealed to me
I think I mentioned it once, but I got a 4/40 in my mcq
I ended up watching a small short on how 1 second can be universally determined by how fast a ceasium atom could spin
I decided to look for that reason in my book and started realizing how cool everything was once you actually read and reason
I ended up with a 34-36/40 on my real exams
Same thing with a level mathematics, I got a low A on my mocks since I didn't grasp the concepts hence they were boring, but now that I found ways to apply them in real life, I'm getting around 70/75 per past paper
Never complain about your deficiencies, find a way to turn them around
Ammend your flaws
That's what it means to live
Weirdly enough, I can't seriously picture einstein ever struggling with the symptoms of adhd. I mean although he might've been impulsive, and had other symptoms along the way. But his approach to learning doesn't accumulate my personal experience not even an ounce of it. I'm not sure if its because of the spectrum itself or that I don't know enough about his personal life.
He was also autistic so he had the urge to constantly seek his interests
It was mild high functioning
Though as long as you are not genuinely interested in what you're learning
That's incredible
I believe there is no reason to try, regardless of your mental status
There is a reason you can scroll on social media for hours
And barely complete a past paper
It's because of your lack of interest
If you can atleast trick your brain to enjoy what you're doing
Then you'll succeed
It's how the human brain is wired afterall
Now I have many questions
How can I trick it?
If it were never a struggle in the first place why would there be research about it? I mean for all there is to be I can just work with my symptoms instead of against, but what if I tried? What if everyone else did but also failed? Why shouldn't it be an excuse?
Gamify your studies, add relevance to real-life, add rewards, study with friends, visualize your success, add breaks, specific times of day tailored to studying so you constantly feel the urge to study( just like how you'd wait the whole day to go out with your friends and not do anything else), create an enviroment solely for studying to make it seem special, and use different study methods to make it more engaging,
Taking medication and doing behavioral therapy is a good thing
But it will never 100% eliminate adhd
For example, I took my medication 1 hour and 23 minutes ago and now it has taken effect while messaging you so I'm hyper focused on this conversation
There will always be flaws
You should try to use those flaws to your advantage
For example, I should've been studying 1 hour after taking my medication so I could hyper focus on my studies instead
I heard it many times from people "your mental status shouldn't be the one to blame regardless" but I think it's a quite perplexing approach. I still don't get why people say this despite all the struggle that come along the line with neurodivergence
You have the power to change
Drowning in the despair of your neurological difference will only do you injustice
Find ways to turn it around and strive for your goals
If anything, consolidating this predetermined notion that you can't do anything because of the difference you have relative to other peoples brain structure
Will only harm your way of thinking
The first thought that comes to mind when you struggle will be that difference
Making you think less and less
Leading you to spiral into complacency
But it is true
It is true that I'll never behave in a particular manner or think in a particular way because of it
And does that difference make you inferior? Or simply different?
Different maybe, inferior, not so much I guess
Academically speaking
Yes
Quite
Inferior ig
But socially, I'm like everybody else but also am not
Its complex
I have to go, nice talking to you though
I would highly suggest you watch this video in your free time as it is quite informative https://youtu.be/hFL6qRIJZ_Y?si=DpRxMKuOTzuqlNcx .
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to discuss this topic.
In this episode, I discuss ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder): what it is, the common myths, and the biology and psychology of ADHD.
I discuss both behavioral and pharmacologic treatments for ADHD, and brain-machine interface tools. I also discuss behavioral training protocols that can improve focus in people with ADHD and those wi...

I will see if i got time by worse i meant to say that i dont treat it well i last visited doc a really long time ago and idk if there have been any improvement ever since then but by far i think it got worse anyway do you also have adhd?
