Lmao I think so yes
thats good to hear maybe we can help each other out im literally the only person in my school who took it as a subject
FR??? I only have 3 T-T
Including me
did you guys start anything art?
??wdym
Heyo everyone!!
I was an AS student until I dropped it very recently!
hi
hi im,m new here
ah, welcome. nothing really happens here... however if you'd like help i can help :)
do u guys have a pdf about arts and design
you can get the syllabus online here: https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/Images/414106-2020-2022-syllabus.pdf
There isn't exactly a step by step on how to do art. There is a textbook, but a teacher is much much better than that; mainly because art is not structured. A teacher can help you navigate the "structure" Cambridge has put in place, much better than the textbook.
Do you have any specific questions about art and design? Maybe i can help
hi I'm new here! it's funny how it's quiet here because I'm the only as art student in my school as well
Do you guys create your portfolios on boards or in books?
boards right
.
btw AAA yall know when we get the question paper
ah ok. I was just wondering as some GCSE students do their portfolios in books.
this year's exam topics?
there isn't a stereotypical question paper for Art
Not sure what you mean by credit, but the highest Grade you can get at A1, is an A; and the highest for A2 is A*.
no its chill
the question paper is out
anyone else struggling w art
stuck w the market
Ah i see, if you need any help i am happy to give you a hand. :)
What are you struggling with?
nth much just doing the work ππ
and ig using secondary sources its not bad but my teachers make me feel bad abt it
ah yes, the secondary source speil. I got that talk too. I found that if you balanced out primary and secondary sources (like they're 50/50), and then your main idea's referenced primary sources, you're pretty good to go.
yes it is quite a lot
I only take 5 subjects (including art) in AS, and i've found it tough
tbf im only using 5 secondary sources compared to 10 plus originals
same π
thats pretty good
oof
yea but idk why my teachers are so agitated when i use a secondary source π
Yea, i was told it's because it's not a strong reference. You cant really move it around to provide different angles and idea's to the examiners
tbf not sure why i even took art bc i want to major in art history and its doing me nothing but giving me reasons to delete thyself
ah i see
true but im using it bc a the stuff i want isnβt accessible b im lazy to go out and take images π
yea its a pity that Cambridge doesn't include any art history in the syllabus
well at least im only doing art bc if i dont then ill probs stop drawing forever
i think they do but my school doesnt offer it since its so niche
fair enough. That is ok to do, as long as the images your referencing arent a major theme in your portfolio, if you know what i mean
heck my school even dropped philosophy a level
ah shit!! My school didnt offer that. I would have loved to take it!!
true true and i can always explain in my annotations why but only if they read my annotations ππππππ
Yes
me too!! but that would equal to 5 essay based a levels
omg i always write waaaay to much in my annotations....
yikes that would have been crazy
and im crazy
eng eng lit history chinese and art
thats a very interesting selection!!
i hope ucl eats it up
Im taking eng, Travel and tourism, art, Afrikaans, and bio
hehe
i think urs is more interesting
im really shit at the sciences so i tried to go the creative route
thank lord i dropped bio after igcse bc my friends rn are suffering
i heard yall have practical
aahhhh yes, i fucking hate the biochemistry stuff. i literally cant comprehend it!!
yes you are correct!! That's the easy bit lol
oh ππ
hehe
i was expecting it to be the hard part ngl
well i cant say much cuz i did the atp paper for ig π
I did as well
Ok, i'm gonna be going!! let me know if you wanna chat about your art. If you have questions or you just want to complain, im here :)) Later!!
to you too!!!
Hello! I'm new to this server but needed a few tips about art in AS levels. I just finished 10th and need more help for how to keep up w assignments, and what they expect.
hii. I'm inactive here actually but I'd like to chat with someone doing as art as well
is anyone here sitting may/June, if so, are your portfolios ready and if you don't mind sharing, what theme did you pick?
^^
Hi, is there anyone whoβs doing a levels graphics design that can offer me some help on the essay that needs to be submitted with the first unit of the coursework?
Yea so theres three possible components for A level.
If you're taking Cambridge art and design for AS and A-level, you'll have Three Portfolios to complete:
(Coursework) 1 self assigned/teacher assigned theme of 5 double sided boards (10 sides total) (Unless you're in the UK, you might do it in a book; internationally we do it on black A2 boards).
(Exam work) 1 Cambridge assigned theme of 4 double sided boards (8 sides total).
1 self assigned theme, 5 double sided boards (10 total) and an additional essay (1000 words) explaining it.
If you're just taking AS
You'll only do:
(Coursework) 1 self assigned/teacher assigned theme of 5 double sided boards (10 sides total)
and
(Exam work) 1 Cambridge assigned theme of 4 double sided boards (8 sides total).
@celest sleet and @granite nest i'd be happy to answer any questions you guys have :)) If i dont respond quickly, pop me a pm.
Are you part of an art class or are you working indapendantly? Let me know if you need any help :))
Thank you so much!
Gave +1 rep to DJPinkSocks108#9676
Oh I'm choosing art as a subject, but no I'm not doing any external art class for practice:)
Ok, so you do have an art teacher to help you in person? (Cuz that would be a lot more helpful than a random person on the internet could be lol)
DOUBLE SIDED??
oh no please say you're joking.
no no no this was far too late it's April 30th the deadline is today
you guys want to know something funny? the work? it hasn't even left my school yet. it's still there because something's up with the transport and now I'm getting a headache thinking about it
yup even I submitted 10 sheets but they were 5 back to back plus 1 final work
well I'm screwed
It will be okey donβt worry, itβs schools fault not yours
Oh shit, thats really awful!! How many boards did you end up doing?
Btw, its the amount of boards for each component (The boards are your "Planning") and + your final.
for component 1, I did 5 boards (only one side) and then the final outcome.
then component 2, I did 3 boards and then the final outcome
Hello did anyone here did a2 art??
Hi, i am doing my A2 art now. (Im not doing A-lvls)
I'm doing my coursework atm, and am going to receive the prompts in July for my Exam stuff.
Do you have questions?
heyy has anyone done A-level? please explain what you have to do for it
i take Cambridge art btw
Hello guys really need help! This is my GP project and I need a Global data so please help me. My question to you is βdo people utilize art as a means of communication? How?β
hey so i'm thinking abt taking art and design in AS so what do you all baisically do in this subject?
hey, have you taken Igcse art before?
No unfortunately thats why i'm asking
I haven't started the course yet myself, but once I get an understanding I'll let you know how it works.
So I can only tell you about Igcse
alr ty very much
yep!
I took olevels art does that help me in any way?
Yes
If you wanna take it in AS
Yes it will. A-level/As-level art is practially the same
Frfr
With AS and A level you just gotta write more and create "deeper meanings" in your art. You also have to complete a few more boards.
No I didn't take but suppose further in fields or studies

You wonβt get a lot of options I think
If youβre thinking about uni then a lot require at least an As level degree if not A levels
I took art at igcse level but im curious to see how its going for people at a level
I didnt take art at a level cuz i dont think i'll get good marks lmao
Managed a in igcse tho
Should i consider taking it
But can I go architecture school tho
wont it depend on what school you want to apply? like there will be different subject requirements yk
They wanted to have a mix of science maths and art
Now it's too late for me to take art
oh
i mean prolly check if that school also accepts o level arts too
Oh yea then itβs fine
Architecture is a lot more math and science heavy
But yea what Sarah said too
Check how important art is as a requirement in each uni
Some might be okay with you just being good at drawing
While others might need o level or even As level art.
So it depends on the uni
I have maths and science and econ rn
That should be good for alotta unis

How many people in the world even take as art and design? Like 2k? π π
