Can someone explain to me how the EDExcel system works?

Like we have Cambridge O-Level & A-Level, And for each subject you have different papers, each paper covers the entire syllabus. & In CIE Alevels you take lab.

But in EDexcel you have Units and all of that..
So my question is, can you explain the system and also give me an example for what I'd take in EDexcel as a translation of what I'd take in Camrbidge For biology Alevel?

Alright so..

Edexcel essentially has "units" that cover certain parts of the syllabus unlike CIE where they cover the ENTIRE syllabus per-paper.
So for chemistry we have Unit 1 that covers 2 chapters for example. <- Can there be cross-chapter-questions from chapters outside the unit?

So Edexcel doesn't have "As" "A2" they have Pick whatever units you want and take a test on them.
If you need to fix your mark you can fix the mark of the unit that you messed up in.

Now as I understand it, each Unit is it's own test with no variants.. This means that each Unit has it's own pastpapers unlike how CIE is where it's per paper it's per unit in edexcel.
The code is fixed for a Subject, say Biology has it's own code and it then has it's own sub-code for the unit.
Timetables have no variant so no Zone system like in CIE which COULD open up potential edexcel exam leaks for this m/j session?

As for the comparison between CIE & Edexcel, In chemistry, Do we take for example Kinematics as a unit for Both levels of AS & A2?
So there might be small changes in variants.

Also is it fine for me to take Math in Cambridge and finish my other subjects in Edexcel? (Do colleges mind?)
Also is Alt. To Practical exam in edexcel harder and needs training compared to the Practical exams in Cambrdige?

No, in edexcel some questions have a * marked on them, it means that you will be marked for structure and linkages as well as the content

They are usually 6 mark questions
