Nah it was a guns-only BFM tournament. The Pheonix is in a pretty bad spot right now. Not only is it easy enough to dodge, but it's also very easy to notch and has a tendency to just go dumb. I really hope they update it to use the new missile API.
It's not amazing that the radar works against these - you can lock up all sorts of fighters at long range in the F-14 just like in most other 4th Gen aircraft. You're not in a Mig-21, you know? It's all about the range at which you can engage or have any sort of effectiveness. It used to be where we'd just launch phoenixes in TWS from a long distance while people play defensive until they get close enough, but now it's kind of the other way around. The AIM-120C is just better. The Pheonix from what I heard used to be better a long time ago, but now it's just not the case the more it got developed and updated.

You also have to keep in mind that other aircraft can just jam your radar, so now your range is limited by your radar's burn-through range where it just burns through the jammer. When people Jam your radar, you don't have any range information, so your missile only knows which direction the target is (because of the jammer signals) but not the range, which means it can't actually know where that target is and go there. The missile goes to where you're going, not where you are. It's always in lead-pursuit. Without range, it'll just go pure pursuit which lessens the chance of it hitting. the Pheonix can HOJ (home on jammer) which means it can just track and try to go to the jammer's source. The AIM-7 from what I remember can also HOJ. In that case it's just fire and forget and is no longer a Fox-1 iirc

The F-18 and M2000c are UFOs and the cat normally can't compete against them at all, even with flaps

I also I pulled so many Gs in most of the fights that I bent my electronics and my INS either got misaligned or was gone completely, so the aircraft didn't know which direction it was facing or where it's going making the radar gun sight useless and I just had to eyeball it and fire
