Hi guys
hi
I'm starting bio ug in a month so just joined this channel
well depends on how seriously you take your studies lol
as a pretty average performing 1st year its like 6 hours a week or something on light weeks, it drastically increases on tests/exams
heyy
who is doing or going to do med in UK
and u r an international student
maybe that international student maybe optional
but still meds in UK
ur opinion??
Help needed <@&597108273669341218>
Are u international?
si
As in going to UK as international
YEP
Do you know the fees and are you sure you can pay them
I AM SURE
i am currently doing alevels
and complete it the next year feb march
so when should i actually apply
If so,
Here is the deal about the UK:
- Salaries for docs are really low so most docs try to escape
- Med school in the UK is very strong but keep in mind that as an international competition is very tough so you need high A level grades, IELTS grades, Int performance, high UCAT/BMAT score as well as solid knowledge of the NHS and how it works, its history and principles so on
- You must know that the UK is outside of the EU so if you wanted to work in the EU later on, you might face difficulty considering your degree is not EU
- UK has a lot of junior doctors but not many specialists so unless they fix this soon you may find it hard to specialise especially as an international student
This is all what I heard from people in med servers and UK servers
Apply for 2023 entry if you finish A levels in 2023 and ask a referee to upload your reference and predicted grades
ahh kk
yeye i also know UK uni are pretty strict on their requirements
so specializing is hard u say??
What I heard is that it's hard to specialise in UK these days because the government isn't actually allowing many people to specialise
Whether that's true or not I'm not sure
Do your research and check
ok thankss mann
I'm starting med this year but I'm a UK student not international
It's extremely competitive and also very expensive especially as an international student
Some universities offer lots of financial support for UK students but some (eg Oxford) won't offer anything so worth checking before you apply
Also just a fun fact you can apply to Oxford or Cambridge but not both
yeye ik
however
I was actually thinking of doing meds in my country and for masters or to specialize i would go abroad
this was my actual plan until i heard that a senior of mine is doing meds in the UK
not really sure about doing a masters in the UK sorry!
but you don't need a masters to become a doctor tho
unless you want to go into research and academia?
uhh i actually wanna do research
i want to go into R & D
and in terms of specialization
nice ok
wow that's cool and very in demand rn
ikr
i haven't heard anything about the UK government not letting people specialise
there is a lot of encouragement to become a GP or an emergency doctor but people are still pursuing specialities
if you want to do a masters in the UK it's worth contacting the unis you want to apply to just to check they're ok with an undergraduate degree from another country
instead of finding out 3 years later that they don't accept it and you have to do your undergrad again
no prbs, glad to help
hello, is anyone applying to medical university of plovdiv for 2023 september intake? (bulgaria)
Help needed <@&597108273669341218>
Question for the med students this is A2 bio question edexcel boaed
isn’t this an afib?
not a healthy ecg?
hii, anyone doing bds here?
Nah
A normal ecg?
Of a healthy person
It’s literally written in the q
normal healthy ecgs dont look like that tho?
look at the st segments
this is a afib
they both look the same
with screwed up segments
This doesn’t look like what’s in the question
Yea it’s a bit wierd but ig it’s considered as normal only
eh im asking regardless of the question that why i said undergrad
because we didnt take afib
and afib is considered a non critical condition
so they may have said "healthy"
normal ecg up afib down
heyyy im looking for advise from a once IB student whos now studying medicine if you are fine with it pls message me TYY
who here is giving the MCAT
What’s that? I’ve heard abt UCAT but not that
anyone have a drive or account for dr najeeb lectures
do lmk if u find it plz🙏
Anyone of u here who wrote a personal statement for UG medicine? Can I read it to get some ideas
Did u?
nope, they want results and everything before july for us non eu students
Bruh so they don't accept predicted grades?
Where did u apply in Europe? I'm also planning to study medicine in Europe so it'd be nice if u could suggest me some good ones
no 😭😭 they want official results for us
but they made an exception for only uk students
😍😍😍😍
even tho we’re doing the same thing
i’m applying to med uni of sofia in bulgaria
depends on your budget really
my budget is VERY low so i went for schools around 30-35k dhs per year
Hahahah same
Dhs? Dude 6 years is no joke that's why my budget is low too lmfao
Ohh ye I am planning to apply there too but they don't accept direct applications ya? U gotta go through some agent or some shit plus the legalization of documents it's hella confusing and exasperating
yeppp
30k is the cheapest you can get
yessir
i applied through an agent
bulgarian uni are all at 35k dirhams rn
Ight appreciate u for letting me know
When's the deadline for Sofia
last date is 29th sept
i’m sorry for replying so late
sofia changed up a few rules
only 70 places for non EU students like us
Wdym?
Do u suggest me to apply rn or after I get my results? When does the fall semester start
you gotta apply rn
uni starts on 23rd oct i think
entrance is on 6th oct
ranking 10th
this year they reduced the seats to only 70 for us Non EU people
crazy competition
you need to submit ur docs to uni to even be registered for entrance
wtf bruh
this is kinda of a legal way to be racist in every country 😭
wish i had a saudi passport sed loif
even saudi is non EU lol
EU is all european people 🥲
ik but saudi grants scholarships to saudi students to study outside
damn
pakistan just doesn’t do shit
i’m in uae
heyyy so im kinda lost rn theres a lot of pple going for medicine and i honestly have no idea how to stand out. so basically im in IBDP yr1 right now and i wanna start with extra curriculars and UCAT prep right now so if anyone knows and websites or has any PDFS for UCAT can yall send me pls and also if yall got into undergrad medicine then can u tell me what kind of extra curriculars yall did and how did yall prepair for UCAT thanks
Yes thank u
Why is this channel so empty?
Anyone starting med in Sept 2019?
Yup. Not medicine, though
@plain cypress @echo needle is probablyyy
@strong mulch are you tho?
Why medicine? How would you overcome the challenges? Are you committed to going through it all despite the negatives? Is it worth it?
I'm not going for med
I think both This channel and the #ug-engineering
Channels
Are my future houses lol
i am thinking about doing med
any tips where can i join
cause in my country there is a very complex and difficult entrance examination
and i am cureently preping for that entrance test
meanwhile, does anyone know a good med school where i can do the undergrad and grad in medicine and and is not that expensive
Malaysia’s med schools are relatively cheap
If you go to institutes like Monash or Malaya they are relatively good for med.
@spice willow
and what processes do they have? like do they need our results ar they are fine with the mid term report of our school
Bmat/ukcat for some of the institutes, and a pre university course similar to A levels.
Some have interviews, some just choose you based on your grades and app.
Anyone doing the UKAT/BMAT this summer?
I need some info about MDCAT
Excited and scared to death for the month ahead
why's that @plain cypress you starting uni?
@plain cypress kings as in KCL?
Yes
Yeah
@plain cypress yass good luck omg!! How'd you get the funding?
@plain cypress aren't you an international student?
That's a heck load of money
What was your UCAT score?
How long did you prepare for it?
How was your interview?
I averaged around 640s ,took me a month and a half to prepare
yes international
my interview went fine
they asked me about my brother, since he was doing a computer science, they did ask me how technology would be beneficial for medicine but in more confusing way
lmao
in a more*
@runic lance
I think i barely scraped by my ucat score compared to other applicants
680s rip
@plain cypress 680s in each is actually good man
Proud of ya
Did you mention bro in your ps?
Lmao my bro is also doing cs
What year?
He finished
Aah it's fine
Is it necessary requirement to take ucat exam... If one is planning to do medicine in UK?
Yup it is! @mossy thistle
Hmmm i see thank you! @twilit mantle
What the actual fuck New Zealand
You can't even enter medicine using A levels
You need their "foundation" thing
smh im disappointed
Rip
Is their BMBS course normally shorter than others? 4 or 5 years by chance? Normally elsewhere it's 5 or 6
Thank God I finally made it here
Anyone know how medicine programs work in the US?
And if you could do a MBBS abroad and then transfer to a med school in the US?
You can do MBBS aboard and then do residency in the US, yes
But you need to give the USMLE first iirc
If you wanna get into med school in US, You gotta give MCAT
http://physics-ref.blogspot.com/search/label/MCAT for those taking the MCAT
Physics Reference - A-Level 9702, Past Exam Paper Solutions ..
Interesting case
Very interesting whoa
Hey guys, I'm currently in my final year, doing my A-levels. Could anyone give me advice on where to study medicine at a low price, as I don't want to give a huge burden to my family :p Thanks!
I cannot do UK, USA, or any high tuition fee universities as I'm an international student from Pakistan
@faint geode you can look at undergrad options in Europe (someone correct me if i'm wrong) but i'm pretty sure tuition there is not too high.
@light reef thanks a lot
try Malaysia @faint geode
@plain cypress how much is in malysia
😮
what about public
$120K for private uni's
@plain cypress
tbh thats expensive
as its 88,000 AED per year, and I cannot afford it
sorry and thanks!
public one is 60k usd
tho
or less
sorry not 60k usd
RM60k
so like 15-20k usd
thanks
np gl with ur search
Thanks dude, i'm literally in intense pressure due to searching and studying
Does anyone have any info about BS/MD programs in the US and their availability to international students?
Also, in my country you can't really volunteer or shadow a doctor is like a clinic or hospital (cause its not allowed), so I don't have any experience. A lot of people who apply to the BS/MD programs have a lot of experience in that area, and so will that dramatically lower my chances?
I have a a decent GPA and other extra-curriculars, but will my lack of experience really prevent be from even being considered?
Does anyone have any info about BS/MD programs in the US and their availability to international students?
whats ur degree
the clavicle is part of the rib cage?
why does it say rib 3 when it should be rib 2
and shouldnt the midclavicular line be on the left lung
<@&597108273669341218>
Ohh
So you can't feel it in percussion right
@light reef
And the line?
Isnt it supposed to go through the apex of the heart
Or is it on both sides
So you can't feel it in percussion right
@boreal lion
No
Or is it on both sides
@boreal lion
On both sides
Does it have a use on the right?@light reef
@boreal lion
No
@light reef wb palpation
Does it have a use on the right?@light reef
@boreal lion
Yep
It is necessary for movement
@light reef wb palpation
@boreal lion
Palpitation yes
But quite difficult
I meant the midclavicular line
Isnt it an imaginary line used to locate the apex
How does it help for movement
Isnt it an imaginary line used to locate the apex
@boreal lion
Yepp
Cause the apex of the heart is located close to the midclavicular line of the right clacicle, in the 5th intercostal space
How does it help for movement
@boreal lion
Ohhh
Sry
I thought u were asking bout the right clavicle
Man do i have to tag eveytime
@boreal lion
Yes😅
Or i wont see the message
@boreal lion
Yepp
Cause the apex of the heart is located close to the midclavicular line of the right clacicle, in the 5th intercostal space
@light reef yeah but on the right?
Thats right
whats on the right
the heart is one the left
and the midclavicular's only clinical significance is to locate the apex
which is on the left
@light reef
ah ok
Protein Synthesis is basically Coding and Programming without a Computer🤔🤔
L
Hey
hi
good lucks (:
who lied to u
Organic chem II has beeeen YIKEEEES so glad it’s over

WAITTTT NOOO
its E
sorry for that
i was just typing and realised something wasn’t adding up
it’s E
@light reef
chill its fine
i’m not an expert, i’m in 10th grade
k
bro no kidding
yeah ik even I thought it was E
but then u said you were in 10th grade
and this is university stuff
lol okay
i can perform an amputation😳
like ofc i havent, but i know how to
even a thoracotomy
👍
we get it u love bio
can u explain why?
okay
so the hypertrophic zone is where the chondrites generate at terminals of the proliferation zone, which HAS to mean that proliferation zone is farthest
why is not zone of calcified cartilage
I mean why is the ans not C
that comes under the metaphysics process where the primary spongiosa slowly remodels
metaphysis**
also this is a university text channel?
i thought it was an interest one lol
no lol
oh is that what happens in this zone?
the zone of calcified cartilage i mean
uh
isnt it where chondrocytes are about to undergo apoptosis and release matrix vesicles to osteocalcin and begin matrix calcification by the formation of hydroxy- apatite crystals.
which is why it’s not very far from the center
yeah the minerals are deposited in the matrix, what i said was basic language
yee i knoww
also what year you in?
and what university do you go to?
ah nicee
my sister’s a second year in biomedical science
i read her reference books
annnddddd i watch grey’s anatomy

lmaooo
that’s where my interest for bio rooted from
lul
just know grey's anatomy is not an accurate representation of the med field
its dramatised for tv
yeah of course
my interest rooted from there
and then i researched and read and researched
like recently i researched about 50 hormones of the human body
and now i’m reading about the mystery of the brain behind phantom limbs
lmaoo okay
i’ll try my best
so this is where ill be stuck after a2 bio ...
such a time has passed, since we all were solving bio doubts…

b

its cause keratinization provides protection from minor abrasions right
thanks
no cause google says so
oh
lol
im scared to even look at the syllabus lol
yep
thats nice, u can easily find an academy to join
Bruh I need to figure out what I want to do
Before I choose medicine which is the hardest
wdym?
Idk I'll have to do medicine if I don't decide what I wanna do in uni
And then I'll be stuck with mdcat and all this stuff
@light reef brah brah
wouldnt his
z line get dilated
and vomit n shit how do u not fk that up
what is this
bruh lol
tf???
why did u delete it tho
not me
they prolly thought its an undercover dic pic

No but it was still nsfw-
how?
Oh how is the inside of a stomach NSFW?
yes?
in a med channel ? XD
u take endoscopy in high school bio buddy
but nvm idc anyway
@light reef not A cuz tfs bind to dna and rna polymerase not c cuz idfk doesnt make sense not d cuz hydrophobic so its prolly b
but ionno what c is tbh
e is a very terrifyin option O-O
aight thanks
its e if c is true but that shit gives me anxiety
yea im not sure abt C either
do they mean same class of regulators? or just transcriptional protiens in general
if its the first then its a v hard q but if its the second then its a 7th grade q
my brain is melting
i think just transcriptional protiens in general
yeah then its wrong lol
i dont get it lel
is C correct?
so then is E the ans?
tbh yeah I think C is correct
so then e ig
anyways thx
btw way @boreal lion which uni you in?
no wrong
cuz
there are many classes of trans protien
ionno them individualalllaly but i knw thehr emore than one
yes
one of the examples is
apoptotic/anti apoptotic
protiens so that auto makes c wrong

Anyone please i need some advice regarding medicine??
what
Pls be more specific do you mean getting into university, or do you need help with something else?
It's regarding which course would be best, like an accelerated BS/MD program or the regular route of pre-med and then medical school?
accelerated BS/MD is if you are 100% sure you wanna do med
you can't really back out
and it would be a lot more intensive
like ALOT more
cause your doing 8 yrs worth of knowledge in 5-6 years
which for medicine is very difficult
higher chances of burn out
but
if you do the accelerated path, you dont have to do the hassle that is applying for med school
which imo is better but i know 100% i wanna do med
do you feel 100% about it?
then go for the accelerated path
There are unis which go upto 8 yrs?
Cuz in my home country all med unis are upto 6 yrs.
In the states and canada it's 4+4 yeah 8 years typically
4 undergrad and 4 med
Plus 3-7 residency
For extremely specialised fields
why is undergrad and med different? does 4 yrs of med include specialization in specific areas?
No
so a general doctor?
Undergrad is premed it's a requirement in western countries for medical school admission
Yeah MD
and this is after high school completion?
im already freaking out studying 6 yrs, and here ppl go for 8..

It's quite a bit of time
But being a doctor is one of the most respected professions
Housejob?
Not familiar with that term
Is that just residency?
If it is then no the houejob is seperate
like 1 yr internship thingy after completing med school before getting a job
Ah
In western countries it's more than 1 year
Generally 3-7 yrs
But you start earning a bit during those years
Some are also 2 years
hmm, thats 4+4+3 = 11 years before becoming a general doctor
Yep
11-12 Years for a general physician
thats very shocking, ppl here complete their specialization too in all these years
Hm yeah
Well ig that's a part of the reason western countries have good healthcare
The healthcare system may be flawed but
Quality of treatment is higher than the rest of the world
European and Western countries
Ye np
and also how bout MD/DO program which would be better to study??
its the opposite
4 years undergrad is not med
u could choose health sciences or neurology
and then 4 years of med
instead of extended 6 years of med
What?
Are you taking about the accelerated pathway?
I said 8 years worth of knowledge not 8 years worth of medical knowledge
u said itll be intensive
Yes
It will be no?
Your doing a 4+4 course in 2 or 3+4 years
It will be intensive
Huh
yes
Are you talking about western countries?
im talking about the programs
Cause med school is 4 yrs there
yes
Not 6
Ok so you are comparing the 6 yrs in @steep granite 's country with the accelerated pathway
Im comparing the normal pre-med then med and accelerated med pathways
yes
Aight so we are comparing two different things
Ok then yes
What you said is true for what you were comparing
But accelerated program doesn't offer scholarships so that's a big problem.
they do
depends on the uni
Most accelerated program offers upto maximum of only 20%
mine gives 70%
Well something is better than nothing 😂
Which uni are u from??
Ye so most do it's just harder to get
which country are u applying to @fresh oracle
Any country which can give me a good scholarship with a internships opportunity..😂
gives a no interest loan based on ur papi's income
To international students really??
Do they have like accelerated program or normal 8 years??
amurican??
yeye
I can't find amurican on google??
Yeah i got this list, I am trying to find the academics and admissions process..
for which one
I mean like for all of then..
Is it like we have a common application we need to submit to Qatar foundation or seperate applications to uni??
to unis
every one has its own requiremnts
u apply for shit on their website after ur admitted
This system sounds pretty interesting..
Thanks @boreal lion for help!!
yeye np
hey @boreal lion or any other member, I want another help and i.e. can you please tell me which more countries i can apply for fully funded scholarship for Medical program other than Qatar and turkey?? Thanks in Advance.
im sorry but if you are an international student at least in USA/canada you most likely will not get a full scholarship for med
like close to a 0% chance imo
Yes i know that sadly but i am looking for other countries which would as a back up plan for me..
ah okay
its not about the country its about each uni
theres a uni in saudi that costs like 30k but if u get more than 4.5 gpa it becomes $7k
its a good uni in a shit city
or get a sugar mommy
Bro that's crazy!!

But actually it's true...

for medicine?
ye
can u tell me the name of it
but its too shitty
conservative muslim type shitty
the uni is contracted with maastricht in holand so ull get ur degree from there
SRU
@steep granite med is 5 years in this uni
u skip first year if u have A2 or whatever
I see but it’s excluding housejob/internship yes?
i see
Bro my answer please, I am making a list of unis and your help will be really appreciated..
countries dont matter
turkey is cheap and qatar has good scholarships but no uni just gives full scholarships
Cool bro!! Leave it i will try to research..
Yo guys can someone plzzzzzzz help me and send me any UCAT and BMAT materials
I don’t know why I did that to myself but I applied for both without actually knowing from where to study
Primarily cause I thought you don’t study then lolz
But now I am panicking and I cry so plz help
Try this
Oh noice thanks so much
Wait so I checked it out and it just says you have to book an event and at the end of the day they’ll give you UCAT access
I would’ve done that but all events are in the uk and I don’t think any of them are online
I think i gave u the wrong link
What is UCAT and how to prepare for it? This page will answer most of the questions you might have about the UCAT and how to prepare for it.
Use this link..
Ye that’s very helpful 👌 thank you so much
Anyone with good topic ideas for research paper writing for high school student related to medicine?? please, help me..
Thanks in Advance BTW..
Usually stem cells and whatnot
Cancer vaccine
Uhhhh ummm
Diabetes prevention
In ur country
Shit like that
or u can just do random epidiomology shit for any disease common in ur country
@fresh oracle if u want stuff or whatever go to pubmed and search for waht u want
If you want to be like everyone else go with anything corona virus related
Also you’ll find plenty of resources
Or you could go with mental health and such but hmm ye you decide
You could do tuberculosis cause why not really
But ye the suggestions by prince are really good ^
Those are really good solution..
I will surely try to work on some, if i ever find a doctor as mentor..
Idt there's any good research on that we already have treatment and all that stuff eh

Can anyone tell the difference between ganglia and glial cells?
<@&597108273669341218>
neuroglial cells provide 'supporting' functions to the actual nerves in CNS
like astrocytes provide blood barrier between the nerve and the blood vessel so that no toxic substance can pass thru
but ganglia consists of actual nerves which transmit electric singles
kinda likea relay station
e.g. dorsal root ganglion in the spinal cord
isnt is a collection of cell bodies of sensory neurons?
in PNS
So its never made up of cell bodies of motor neurons, as they are present inside CNS? Am I gettin it right?
motor neurone isnt in the CNS
its usually found attached to sensory organs
the ganglia contains sensory neurons
wait im confused now
cell bodies of motor neurons are in CNS
but cell bodies of sensory neurons are in PNS - forming ganglion
issokkay
so dorsal root ganglion consists of sensory neuron's cell bodies
what about sympathetic / parasympathetic ganglion?
uh
i havent learnt that yet
they have post ganglionic neuron's cell bodies only right?
np
If anyone knows, pls confirm this
Wait, glia is always in CNS, not in PNS?
It’s supporting cells so they are present in both ig
Schwann cells are type of glial cells
they are?
Yea
And motor and sensory neurons in PNS have myelin sheath too
Here
oh i see
🥲
Don't you need some initial volume / mass of the reactants?
Yeah lol whats the rest of the question
nope
this is all thats given
this is the entire questino
the equation is balanced btw
they are asking for volume
Yeah, volume of one mole of gas under RTP is 24 dm^3 right😂
I mean it's also weird that they don't specify RTP and STP
the answer is 11.2 L lol
Tf kind of numbers are they even using
Find the number of moles of this tho, let's go backwards
O bruh
its assumed its STP
so 22.4 L
so if answer is 11.2L
But why... Use half
Can you ask your coaching centre or sth
Nws
ill try to figure it out myself
😂 😂
Is there the previous question that links with this or sth
Like yk in SAT how they use some information across 2 questions
ohhh i got it
What was it?
u have to find the equivalent weight of Na2CO3
and then the gram equivalent
and its a known fact that in balanced chemical equations the gram equivalent of each substance is equal
so gram equivalent of Na2CO3 = CO2
from there just find volume
Oo
is as hard as other people really say it is.
they say med student dont get to enjoy and stuff like others students, is it true?
also do u need phy for med? found out in indua u do...but what about other countries?
pls message me privately 🙂
shouldnt this be C
the answer 🔑 says B with a shitty explanation
<@&597108273669341218>
Ohhh okay got it thanksss
bruh lol
welcome
Ya
Ya
So are ya tying alone this paper??
Just need to know, if i can write my paper alone..
Anyone can
But publishing is the difficult part
how do you go about publishing?
is it through professors?
You submit it to a journal for peer review
oh I see
@boreal lion can u use this channel properly bro
@manic plover no
?warn @boreal lion for breaking rule 4
! 0#6524 has been warned, this is their first warning.
🙀
I cba with this
🙀
lol
d?
no C
Ok
nice bio
and medicin
well its chemistry
medicine has chemistry as a subject no?
well idk where else to ask
no one will be able to answer it in as or a2 chem
No
biochem is a module that they do
at least one of my friends did
is it possible to join medicine after writing A leveles in Edexel?
in universities anywhere in the world.....
pls message me privately....thx
UK maybe
pls anyone
what do I have to include here
250 words idk what to write
Wikipedia pubmed mashup
plagiarising is a big no no
just read what the process is and then write it in own words?
Bruh but I dont get the process
oh
When is it due
znask set "Biology Helper"
pls help
nah mate thats the hair follicle
but idk what exact structures they are
Ok so exocrine gland
but the cell layers?
ohh k thx
ohh shitt
thanks
and ig the bottom arrow is Huxley's Layer right
has the dark purple granules
oh kk
thanks i got it now
i was having a hard time differentiating those 3 layers, cuticle of inner sheath, huxley's and henle's
What book do u use?
junqueira's basic histology
Yes that
15th ed
They tell u how to differentiate no?
yes but i just started the course yesterday so was having a hard time
Theres a guy wait
at all
Ok nvm all histo guys are gay too
Watch random videos its way better than reading book first time
lol ill try that
Yea
what
just a question is that medprep or smthing or wtver the name of that question bank site is
No

hi what’s the best way to structure a medical personal statement?
i need help im trying to find a hospital that can do covid 19 test
which specialty is that
znask
<@&597108273669341218>
bruh
You don't need a specialised hospital
It’s for research
you'll want respiratory therapists then
The research is about finding the covid testing centre in turkey, like I try finding it its hard so I came across this website where they give me the list of hospital and they divide the hospital to many specialty
I have no knowledge about this channel I just need help with this part
Why don't you just find testing centres instead of hospitals then? Any large-scale lab should work
i trieeddd for 3 days, (until now as we are speak)
i legit found nothin
😦
i know but this is all i have
hii don’t know where to ask this but.. would you say taking the three sciences for as levels with the intention of medicine are good options or should i also take maths?
If ur sure to go in med then yes, 3 sciences in A levels
But maths can be really helpful in understanding some parts of sciences, and generally a useful thing in ur future ie like incase u decide not to do med, then maths along with chem and phy can give u a large variety of professions to chose
@stone orchid
I’d recommend to take maths if u can handle 4 subs, I did take 4 of them, it isn’t very un-manageable, but if u feel u can’t give enough time, or ur unable to do, then it’s up to u if u wanna drop it
It kinda also varies from person to person, ik ppl who got amazing grades in 5 subjects and also ppl who only took 2 subjects (depending on uni)
Legit what seleno said
Maths is rly helpful for phys and chem
Also if ur taking maths dont take mechanics, take stats 1 and 2 (and pure math 1 and 3 ofc)
Also
Afaik they will teach u calculus anyways in 1st yr med its decently important
But take it with a grain of salt not 100% sure
I have seen it defo for biology, neuroscience, etc
thank you guys. it's just that i really hate maths tbh so i'd rather not take it. i'll think about it though, if i get good in my math gcse i'll consider adding maths since they let us change our options afterwards.
You should make sure you still fulfill all pre-reqs for your university cause maths is very important
what site do u guys use for mcqs etc?
Says the dex build enjoyer
Honestly a good qn, could u get the answer?
well idk if its a good question
but
but the answer for the radiation part is basically
radiations
will screw u up
thats in short
lmfao
and the first part im not sure
Cell division is carefully monitored
It’s rare that a cancer causing mutation takes place
Also to get cancer several mutations in a row need to occur
And the body tends to spot and destroy cells that will likely become cancerous
In an embryo the cell division is very tightly controlled by regulatory genes etc but in a cancer there’s no regulation so uncontrolled cell division can take place
Tbh the real answer is probably more complex than that
true but gives a bright idea of the ans
google teratoma
uh guys
i took bio phys maths and business (ik odd combo)
for a levels
so
am i eligible for medicine ?
probably not acc to my research
but just making sure
I feel like you might need chemistry
depends on the uni
but i think for med u would need chem
guys if i don’t take bio and only take maths physics chem am i eligible for medicine?
depends on the uni some ask for math + any 2 sciences
