can i get into uni w just 2 a levels subjects
i wanna do bachelors in computer science soo is it cool if i just have math and physics or do i need ICT w it
canada or the states
Idk probably depends which ones ig
i see
USA i don't think it really does have formal requirements
but you're obvs gonna need good grades to get into good unis
especially for cs
sitting may/june?
yeah
so ill probably resit phy and IT in oct/nov
ive heard aslong as u pass and have like C's ur good
Idk depends where
and u have money in ur pocket
my friend
is doing AS rn
his subjects are chem bio IT and math
he failed IT and probably math
he says hes gonna go for foundation w his IG degree in poland
i see
Idk
and the uni might give him admission
if unis can let a moron like him in
im pretty sure ive got a decent chance
idk
i might be wrong
Poland and the US are very different
Yeah esp if you don't wanna waste 2 yrs
how u wasting 2 yrs tho
@vague wagon isn't foundation outside of the UK like a year or 6months
I think a foundation is rly rly skimmed out - my education counsellor recommended it if I thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do
Therefore just having a narrower syllabus
And therefore needing less time to study it
Thus finsihing earlier
i see
yeah my friend doesnt really know what he wants to do
hes just going for bcs cause his brothers going for it
Oh no
and a couple friends are moving there so hes just in it w them
he chose bio chem in AS planning on doing medical
but now hes going for computer science
I mean he's got a few broad subs like chem, bio n math
yeah hes got chem bio math and IT
Chem, phy and math and CS?
Seems fair
but how can a uni let him in
He's got a fair chance if he gets like As and Bs
why would a uni care about chem and bio if hes going for bcs
dont unis require math phy and IT for that course
and hes going in w his IG degree
Nah m8 not all unis need top top grades..
At the end of the day fewer people get top grades - the majority fall to B's and below. That's a lot of people, therefore a larger market for unis to tap into
It's all business and even if someone doesn't have the right combo, they'd prolly find a way thru
@vague wagon some unis want you to do 2 sciences and math
I've seen guys pursue CS w/out even studying it
IT isn't a requirement for CS
@tranquil summit even CS isn't a requirement🤣
@tranquil summit yeah it's mainly math and physics
im quite good in math
Physics only for engineering
i was thinking i drop either IT or phys in my a levels nd just focus on 2 subjects since it'll be easier to score good grades
Maths is the only requirement for computer science
but ion think unis let u in w 2 a levels
Keep in mind that even if they don't require a specific subject some unis will ask for 3
You could do a foundation year
my dad is totally against foundation
he thinks that ppl who go for it a retarted cuz they couldnt do a levels
but then they wasted 2 years of their education
why do foundation if u have an A level degree
No people who do foundation are people who didn’t do the required A-level subjects for they course or they grades were too low to get into the degree course or for your case lack a third A-level
ight so its best for me to go w these 3 subjects
cuz its hard man
i suffer w phy and IT
You only need maths for a computer science degree have you tried ummm doing 2 other A-levels you found easier to do
i wanted to keep foundation as a third option incase i fail some of my alevels
instead of resiting them i could just get in thru foundation
but my dad doesnt like that plan
@vague wagon probably thinks foundation is like not as academic and is seen as a waste of time or something however I disagree tbh
yeah u right
also i hate the fact that math comes with stats or mech
like tf
anyways ty for the advices guys
yw
idk i might keep IT and phy and resit them in oct/nov
@vague wagon When are your exams m8?
they're going on rn
stats is on 25th
and then physics mcqs on june 8
just these 2 exams left
Which variant of Stats do you do?
S1
@vague wagon as in 51,52 or 53?
AUS anyone??
its edexcel
so its like wma12 or smt like that idk
I see
Guys any cheap and affordable uni in the UK for CS
for integrated med courses, do they all have pbl or r there some that don’t do pbl
idk man most unis are expensive in the uk
the good ones atleast are
Any1 here studies in Prague?
Do you want to study in the UK, or are you fine with moving elsewhere?
id not mind studying in the uk
but canada seems like a more attractive offer to me bcuz of their co-op system
whats the co-op system
Basically you get internship while at uni
For how many terms
Or how long
Depends which uni
I want to go to the UK on a high scholarship if possible for bachelor in computer science
I was thinking of giving IELTS after my AS English Language paper (obviously id have improved English writing by that time as a result of this)
does anyone know if this would increase scholarship or atleast prioritize an admission or so extra curriculars and stuff matter.more
also is AICE worth it?
Afaik difficult to get scholarships from uni in UK
IELTS would not help you get a scholarship
No you just have to get the bare minimum for ielts
Doesnt uk also have that
im not sure some might have similar programs the canadian system of coop is more integrated and popular there
Checked online about it apparently it is really helpful as it helps you get a scholarship but it is really strict
Alright cause the co op system is actually pretty good
Give experience
unfortunately tho canadas deadlines are out of phase with ppl taking a levels
Cant you register your as grades
Like predicted grades for a 2
yes thats the only way
Cause thats what many ppl do to prevent gap year
Btw wanted to ask do you know how as grades are carried forward
oh so your raw grades from the AS and A2 are combined then graded
you can submit AS results + predicted A2 for early addmission
Thanks for advice dude
Gave +1 rep to 𝐌𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐊#9213
yea remember the addmission for most canadian unis start in october of this year and ends in january for the academic year that starts in september 2023
so you HAVE to do it early if youre taking youre A2 in may
you're applying to waterloo?
i was aiming for alberta calgary and simon fraser
waterloo is insanely expensive its a joke
They allow you to take a placement year but it's on you to find one. If you find a placement then you take a year out before your final year and work
It's the same for the UK as well
don't you pay extra money for that final year?
it's 4 years right?
I'm not sure but you earn more than you pay for sure
I didn't have the option to on my degree so I didn't look it up too much
ah alright
i have looked into the admission windows of the uk
But placements are hard to get
if they don't help you with it
what are you paying the uni for
cause you won't be attending right?
hmmm
You can also just take a gap year and work if you want, that way you don't pay
But you also lose access to student services
I see
Ik a guy who took a gap year because of covid and landed a nice placement at CERN
woow nice
Every other physics person has been to CERN here 😭
And all the academics have a CERN email as well
Well a huge chunk of them anyway
idk much about career prospects for physics grads tbh
but it's the largest in europe right?
There's a lot you can go into
Very versatile degree
Yeah
Physics?
just like math
Yes..
Ahh fair
what the degree actually is
I'm biased but I think physics is better
Maths usually ends in either finance or academia
Or data science
Dunno never looked it up

But I'd say yes
fair
data science is the worse
i hate both
Why no
Physics has all the above plus engineering/ computing
How tf
Data science is painful
i hate it with a passion
what
couldn't math end up in computing as well?
like
most of those genius computer scienctists
don't wanna say most
but many
have a math background
yea but probably ull have to combine it with cs
CS courses contain math
math doesnt contain cs lessons
Depends where ig
some courses are more flexible that oothers
so you can
take cs classes
i need to look into these employment placement thing that uk unis have
never heard of it b4 now tbh
they have this 1 year in industry thing
idk much about it
but from what mushu said
seems kinda like a scam😂
that you might not even get
nah man wth😭
Well if you don't get a placement you just go on with the degree like normal
And you don't pay for it
As an Egyptian IGCSE/A level student, I want a uni (preferably in UK/USA) that's good with computer science that I can get financial aid for/provides free education.
masr um al dunya
UK doesn't really provide financial aid
although some unis have scholarships
like warwick for example
only 1 that ik of
but it's generally cheaper than US
in the US there are some which are need blind for international students
ones that I know of rn are
MIT and Harvard
there are also much more
do your own research for that
Lol is aiming for Oxford hard
There is the reach Oxford scholarship and the Qatar one for Somerville college
true
so you can try
I will
worst goes to worst you just get rejected
which isn't much diff than where you are rn
that's expensive
You won’t get a free education in England as a international student if you are going to university there not even home students get a free education at university so I doubt you will unless you find a very large scholarship that will accommodate you for living costs and student tuition fees which is next to impossible to find in England
lol there are 2 scholarships for my country and major in oxford
Feels good to be Egyptian
You do realize you need like 11A* in IGCSE to get into oxford for computer science and also need 3A* predicted for you at A-levels and also should be taking further maths A-level if your school offers it since they clearly state on there website they prefer for students if school offer it to take further maths A-levels
I think I can at least be accepted in Oxford, not that confident with either of the scholarship tho, that's why I want alternative
Would this scholarship at Oxford
Yes
Yes both do
Your tuition fees
For all the years your in England then
What
The computer science course is 3 years would this course in oxford cover the 3 yr tuition fees plus living costs
for what cs?
in UK
warwick has scholarship for intls
idt it's full ride though
US look which ones are need blind
and
you obvs gotta apply MIT
especially if it's need blind
for everyone
Yale I think is also need blind
This is oxford admission rating for computer science for 2020
Mans dedicated to let me give up
I am giving you a realistic approach
bro I've seen these stuff I've seen the mat exams I've seen mock interviews
It can't be that bad if I try my best
I don’t want you to give up
a realistic approach is also the fact that if he works hard
exactly
there's a very good chance that he might be 1 of those 15
Okay if it doesn’t work out I hear Kings college London is good for computer science
NO
Lol
KCL very expensive
and their course is no different than like southampton or something
which is still good
but is cheaper
I'll look at Glasgow too they provide scholarships with £10k
and lower entry requirements
- KCL is in London
which isn't the place to live if you're tight on money

which ig is normal for many students
What about Durham
Durham is good
I just looked at it and it says they offering a scholarship worth 10,000 to students who are from Malaysia, India , Pakistan , South Africa and Italy
And it’s a social science scholarship
Wait that’s means I am eligible
Then
Since I am from Italy and have Italian nationality or am I not cause my fee status is home lemme check
mamma mia
🤌🤌🤌🤌
Italy is a really nice country
My fav
after my country ofc
best country i've been to
my country
@tranquil summit if you have an Italian passport and your nationality is Italian and your an EU citizen does that mean your from Italy and would I be eligible for this scholarship or would the fact I have home fee status in England mean I am not eligible for it .... and it’s only if you have EU fee status
Would you know by any chance
No I mean
so no idea if being EU citizen gives you home fees
Would I be eligible for the scholarship says as long as you are from
which scholarship?
it does not, but katnix has residence
It doesn’t however since I have been an ordinary residents of England for three or more years and have settled status i have it
if it only specifies nationality yes
Ic ic
@tranquil summit
thing is you have to also get through the interviews and exams, not just grades
should be fine, it only specifies nationality not residence
oh okay that's good
but would recommend emailing them tho
because 10k makes sense for an intl
for home fee students, who only pay 9k it does not
that was why I said to have a really good back up option available but he may make it @cedar hollow try to do some extra curricular clubs
oh ur right
it didn't specify who it was for so thought it was for both UK and International students who are from those 5 countries but I guess ur right
for UK doing more cs related stuff probably helps more
than playing football
for your personal statement
usually they're not home students tho, the vast majority
he could join a coding club
build a portfolio
yeah
or maybe do some internship in a technology company
he could
but an internship could also be useless
depends what type of work you do
not really, interpersonal skills are v good to have
well yes but it's not a bad idea
Ofc
but me personally
I'd rather develop interpersonal skills while also improving my programming skills
do you think the reason the University of glasgow is offering that many scholarships is cause they want to attract more students to join there university since glasgow isn't a reputable university compared to some others
yeah but that what I feel sometimes lower ranking universities offer international students a lower fee cause they want more students coming to there university to fill in the spaces for they courses and offer a lot of scholarships and bursaries cause of that reason as well
Hmm
the thing is even though I was asking about the scholarship thing in glagow I have no intentions of going to University
But I mean
I was just interested in it
I'm still p sure Glasgow gets more applicants than it has seats
maybe not all courses
but for many if not most
that could be
there are endless reasons tbh
anything I say is speculation
can't really know their intent
what are your plans then
why do people wanna study in scottish Universities is it cause they generally charge a lower fee for intel students than English Universities
I still wanna become a solicitor
It's a nice place
so was thinking of doing an apprenticeship
nicer than many places in england
Idek what's that💀
they this apprenticeship called level 7 solicitor apprenticeship
it a type of Lawyer
degree apprenticeships alot of them are located in bristol , sheffield and manchester or London
so need to find one closer to my house
most likely I will go to one located in London as its near where I live and I live just outside of london
generally solicitors working in London earn more money than solicitors in any other parts of England
it would that's why I am considering London not only cause of the close proximity also cause of the good pay and recognition that comes with it
also another thing to note
I need to make my CV and cover letter competitive tbh
yeah I do
so basicallly
I need a cover letter and CV
its not a course really its more like a 6 yr work placement where at the end you get A master degree's and bachelors degree and you get paid while working and don't have to ay any fees
so its a bonus for me
how would that work?
Ooooh I see
Nice
so then who offers such programmes, law firms?
yeah some do
and since only like some law firms offer its extremely competitive
understandable
yeah I guess
Doesn't it weigh less than a law degree tho?
Oh wait that might be the difference between solicitors and barristers, idk my law shit
Although I'll live with a lawyer next year
No its the same and is even better than a Law degree tbh for me
yeah I meant solicitor apprenitceships barristers are self employed
Fair enough
Could you link resource/univeristies stating so?
I'm trying to find it but hard time understanding the intenrent
This isn't so bad tbh
Like I thought it would be way worse.
tbh those are just the GCSE grades you are looking at achieving for oxford
the interviews and exams are the real challenge tbh
make sure to prepare for them
and also have a good personal statement
and school reference ready
Yeah
At least its one of the things I can do
Now alot of uni's i see for comp make maths a compulsory requirement
and furthur maths a recommended one
I'm not great at maths (can manage it if I practice alot) so is it worth taking this subject (furthur maths) to bump up my application or should I devote my resources elsewhere like extra curriculars?
Also how related should one's extra curriculars be against their degree (in my case Bachelors in Computer Science)? I love graphic designing and the likes so would it count? Is there a way I could integrate it into graphic design?
Maybe like using code to create some patters or designs that are used in posts and stuff?
you need maths for comp science
and further math helps
alot
and for me
My personal statement was mostly cs related stuff
and p much every other personal statement i've read
there was just 3 lines or something where I talked about some ecs
that i do for fun
and aren't related to cs
seems oxford doesn't consider ecas and stuff as an admission cirteira
yes i will
but i was asking if furthur maths would be worth it for it
honestly I haven't found a calling
ngl money is what matters to me the most. I do love comuter science but mn't eccentric about it so to speak
wdym by you're not eccentric about it?
its a subject that if I have to learn, I'll be able to do and score very well in
But it's not like I like coding in my free time and testing out new programs and the works
hmmm
then dont do it...?
I mean
don't do what?
As long as you enjoy coding
then shouldn't be a problem
even if it isn't
what you prefer to do most
cause coding isn't my fav thing to do either
But I do enjoy it
and i'm interested in it
so i like it
so i'm doing it
doing cs
Well i'll keep that in mind
thank you.
also
Any idea if Global Prespectives and Research is a good subject to take?
idek what that is
I mean Uni's often talk about how they like people to approach to diff situations and understanding and stuff
if you want to do cs
its basically a view of society
the gotta have math
and if your school has it would be good idea if you have further math
I was thinking for A levels
CS, Maths, Physics, Furhur Math/Global Prespective
this reminds me, is physics an important subject to keep? here in pk u can't pursue cs without it and my counsellor said physcis is needed for bachelors in cs abroad too although I haven't seen that
wats pk
ive never heard of a requirement of physics for cs
it is yes
see ik
basically they treat computer science and pre engineering
so even if u want a bachelors in cs its treated as such
and reuqirements for preengineering are
cs, maths, physics
OR
maths, physics, chem
but in all cases physics is needed
not 5 i am not suicidal bro
4
its also what our school recommends
the question is if its going to be furthur maths or global prespective
AS or A2?
further math ofc
if you can do it
further math
no question about it
I probs can if i work hard on it
if you wanna do cs
are there topicals papst papers for it?
probably
@upper shore taking global perspective is a waste of time if you are already doing 4 A-levels
and also
if you are applying to a UK uni
none of them accept global perspective as a qualification
including oxford
so you would be wasting ur time on a useless A-level
Is global perspective important for IGCSE?
wtf is global perspective now
Thank you!
Gave +1 rep to Katnix#1021
Is Glasgow a good uni? I wonder if there are discords more specifically tagreted for such stuff
Oxford uni is out of the question 💀
Uni of Cambridge doesn't seem so kind in scholarships
why
Its requirements are manageable if I end my social life and become a studying pshycopath
Oxford is hard no doubt bout it
Also extremely competitive, I don't think people apply unless they have a shot at that bad boi
nah
i'm p sure there is
I applied to stanford and mit just for the lolz
knew i didn't have a chance
still applied
there's deffo many people like me
Possible
I am only seeing UK as a prospect though...m not interested in other foreign countries
Well good luck
For all one knows you stand out
yeah i'm saying it's probably same at every other uni
top uni
I hate how life is step by step, good education means good uni, which means good job, which means good salary
i mean
There has to be at least one person out there who applied for the lolz and got accepted
Yeah alot of experience and stuff matters
but explain that to my parents why don't ya
i understand
Not much one can do I suppose, just try
Mom always says nothing is set in stone so do your best
But its hard
One should aim for the stnadards of oxford to get accepted to pretty much any other uni not oxford
lol
Uhm
lets supppose
if just a maybe
a person gets a distinction in IGCSE or A level (unlikely) of a subject they intend to pursue as a degree .ex comp sci, how likely is a scholarship going to increase
idk
Scholarships are not varied based on how good you are. You either get the set amount or don't
Also scholarships vary widely based on your background, socioeconomic and geographical
So you'd be eligible for certain regional scholarships
Or in my case I wasn't because I was Indian but hadn't lived there for the past 5 years so I couldn't get the Indian ones
Yeah
we don't have extracurricular clubs at my school, but I do code in my free time
So yeah I pretty much have good chances tbh, I hope so.
In my personal statement I'll mention the projects I made and the internships I worked on
And when it comes to a*aa for a levels, I can really just start studying now, even tho my exams are well—more than a year from now
guys do u think teaching others counts as a very good extracurricular for the subject ur interested in
btw which as/a level maths paper do comp sci. students give?
yes
Wdym?
I think they mean between stats and mech
A Level mathematics has a few paper types
like p1, p2, probablity and statistics and so on
yes!
Pure is mandatory
You can do any combination, it's not going to hurt you going to uni. My school didn't give us an option anyway
S2 probably easier
But stats is probably the more CS thing to do
Ah I was talking in the sense if one or the other is better for comp sci.?
Thanks
Gave +1 rep to Aishwarya#7376
I think Furthur maths had its own sections/paper choices tha tcould be paired with normal maths
Normal math is mostly easy anyways
Anyone here applied or planning to study in Japan after CAIE A levels? I need some help
My friend has applied
Is there any way for me to contact that person? It'd be a huge help
@indigo I'll let uk
Btw which group? Sciences or business?
Sciences
Ah its fine, i just want to know where to apply as your friend's CIE Results were accepted
Yes i wrote the may june series
Oh sure I'll let uk....
Thank you very much
Btw...guys I'm planning to major in aerospace engineering....what do y'all think about it....?
It's good ig
The only thing is I'm good at bio and sometimes I feel like being a med student would be easier.....
what do you like more
Aided by the fact that the only A* i got in A levels was in bio...
Physics and maths....but bio is easier...
My A level results came out 5 days ago
i'm confused now
I understand 🤣
I actually joined this server in 2020 November when I was an As student....
But then I just forgot about this app....and i just came back here like 2 weeks ago
Yes....
I see
U done with A levels?
no
I didnt know what I wanted to do....
So i took phy, chem, bio , math, IT and English obviously
@livid oracle you need to know the language for most Bsc courses
Yes....u apparently have to learn Japanese and pass the exam...
Same as in Germany...
Oh i see, I'm planning to start a language course but I'm still searching for a uni to apply for
yes?
@livid oracle also practice papers for the EJU exam
I am going to do next year and I live in the Uk so know alot about the UCAS process
what questions you have?
does taking a gap year negatively affect my success in getting an offer cuz i took the a levels this year was preoccupied with a lot of personal stuff so couldnt apply b4 january.
and now most the seats are probably gone
If you can explain it and say that you've done something in the gap year then it's okay
There are lots of people who take them
Well you can't apply now for September anyway
i hope they dont look to deep into it
hi, is there anyone doing an online degree from University of London here?
you mean UCL
?
no, I believe the degree I want is supervised by King's College London and IoPPN
hey, is anyone studying in texas a&m?
yeah i am
Anyone did A levels and went to Australia?
Guys I have a question regarding retakes,
Assume I get AAAD in May June
If I give retake of the D grade subject, in my final transcript will it jus tappear AAAA or A (of the subject I got D in ONLY)
Like will my final certificate show all my previous exams and the grades in them or just of that
If I apply to a certain uni, I do not want them to know I got a D in that subject in IGCSE.
So anything like this? please explain
figured I'd post here since people are probs done with their A levels or GCSEs so mght know better
i think they know if you did a retest or not idk could depend on whether ure edexcel, cie, aqa etc
cie
think ull have seperate certificates then ig
sed
Do you guys know any good Universities if I want to pursue Software Engineering?
Which country dude
U have a lot of time
Harvard in USA , Cambridge UK
But the minimum req grade is AAA
I said minimum
Yaya its like same
Famous last words
Sigma mode on
@round jacinth
Idk
AAA as in three A's in A levels
Yes
Yo I want to pursue the career of a orthopedic surgeon. What's the best university for it?
Basically medicine
yeah
guys i want to study medicine, just finished my As levels now, my subjects were Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Maths. Of the CAIE board. Any good university recommendations please
yeah wait for your results
I would say
to see what you got
@twin ibex what's ur predicted grades
for AS
hmm for now i think i did very well in bio maths and phy but for chemistry it was mehh
what country?
any
would you want somewhere that’s easy to study in/get into or something hard to study in/ get into
any
i still have two years
so I am looking for options
university of texas at austin
university of michigan
purdue university
florida technical university
virginia tech university
there are a lot of universities out there, you should do your own research as well
Thank You
once again tho doing your own research is way better, take a look at the location of the university, the professors, graduation rate, how easy will it be for you to graduate, internships that they may offer or companies that they work with so it’s easier for you to find a job
as an example i know that university of boston works with google to create opportunities for their graduating students to get jobs
I'm gonna apply to oxford but i want backup universities, they need to be either free/cheap/have decent scholarships
any suggestions?
Dude. What are you doing in your extracurricular activities?
oxford doesn't care about them lol, they care about ones related to my major, and thats what im doing im learning programming on my own
Yes, Lets see how this goes. They usually look for someone very influential. Candidates like Malala/Ahmed Nawaz are the ideal candidates for such universities. They have perfect grades, they have the perfect influential personality that the world looks up to. Literally every other candidate would have A*’s and A’s but why should they choose you over them. That’s what you have to convey.
indeed
i'm going to be giving like coding classes in my school for the next 3 years
one of my friends is graduating from school this year he did that too
my school is pretty helpful with that
Is there anything else you're doing?
and maybe i'll attend international math olympiad
is there anything else you suggest me to do? well i can mention in my personal statement im currently developing in a non profit cross platform app, used linux for a while which gave me experience in langagues like lua and haskell
You're gonna also have to talk about why you want to be at Oxford and not other places+ what you'd gain from that experience
Not just "I'm a really good developer"
And unfortunately also ace A levels and the entrance exams + 2 rounds of interviews
Yea that would be good
Also the UK and funding is shit unless you're being externally funded
ik lmao
there are 2 scholarship i can apply for, one called “reach oxford” and the other one is for a specific college which i'll be choosing
So if you're looking for places with full funding that narrows it down a lot and you're gonna have to do the research tbh
I wasn't eligible for them and did not go down that path
ye im gonna do a german language course if oxford doesn't work out, germany is free and there are some need-blind unis in usa like harvard so i'll consider them, turkey's education is relatively cheap and some courses are offered in english, malaysia has good options too
If you're sure about your grades just work down the rankings lists?
Also I wouldn't have that as a maybe, do it for sure
Yeah
Also for the US you'll need extra curriculars
no one got a bronze even in my country so its pretty scary lol
yeah
is that considered one
You don't lose anything, if you don't do well you just don't talk about it
Possibly but the US is very hardcore about ECs
So probably some volunteering/ community service
Google some personal statements if you wanna have a look
Or check the application questions for one or two US unis and you'll have a better idea
True
tysm but i gtg 😔
Gave +1 rep to Aishwarya#7376
Nws !
What are the requirements for german universities for medicine
and i want also suggestions please
because DAAD is confusing me
3 alevels from:
math physics chem bio
+
a language.
(4 subjects, 3 at A2 and 1 at AS is fine)
Or
3 A-levels and 2 of them should be from:
Math physics chem bio cs.
You prolly need A*s as it’s really competitive
And you need fluency in German . C1 or C2
Hello, Ive just completed my AS levels and had a few questions regarding medicine.
I know I'll have to give the MCAT and the NUMS test (Pakistan), will I also have to give the SAT exams, and if so which ones? What if I have plans to study abroad, particularly Turkey, what exams would I have to give for those?
Is chem n bio alone enough?
No
What about chem n bio with any subject not specifically a science one, not math or physics
If it fits in that then yea
Total of eight subjects, five at (O level) and three at (AS/A level), with a minimum grade of C in all subjects. Arabic Language and Islamic Education are not counted. Total of eight subjects, five at (O level) and three at (AS/A level), with a minimum grade of B in all subjects.
This is in Dubai where am at atm
Ye
Idk about Dubai, check the uni websites
not all unis in Dubai have this requirement each uni has diff reqs
Yes but im like asking a general one, i have a friend whos took 2 AS and got into one
ye
a lot of Unis also accept 1-2 A levels in other UAE states like RAK etc
meanwhile Wollongong and Uni of birmingham ask for 4 AS levels
and 3 A
iirc
i heard after 2023/2024 (dont remember exactly), it will only be 3 a levels, is that correct?
Yes but they can be used from summer 2022
I'm a student in India looking to pursue my undergrad in a CS major in the US/Canada.
I'm on the right track - doing well on my SAT and IELTS, did badly on a subject in HS but working on rewriting to get that back on track, good extracurriculars (working at my dad's software solutions business, volunteering at a local temple) - but I wanted to see if anyone here had some advice for me - both general and situation-oriented advice could go a long way.
Right now I'm having trouble picking a college to study at, and I'm just not sure if I'll get accepted into the ones I've had my eye on (CMU, UI-UC). I can give more detail about my situation if required but I currently don't have enough information or experience with this to be confident about my trajectory, which is why I'm seeking advice.
Not sure if this is the right channel but it seemed relevant.
I'd say continue getting good grades and improve your extracurriculars
and dw whether you get into CMU, UIUC or any uni
just apply when it's time to apply and see what happens then
just if you're doing cs focus more on improving your skills rather than doing extracurriculars that you have no interest in and you're just doing it to make your app better
it's much more sustainable that way
and will help you both in your uni app and long term
and for extracurriculars i'd also advise you to get your own project going as well that will go a long way for sure
What types of projects? I have a significant amount of experience with CS, but I don't have anything that's easy to explain - I've made a ton of money online freelancing but don't know how I'd put that on a college app
whatever you find interesting
and you would put that the same way you just told me
just talk about what you did
Yeah I'm interested in all of my extracurriculars, not taking any just for the sake
to make this money
Okay
I'm from India and want a partner who wishes to study abroad. I'll be applying for undergrad this year.
Fall 2023?
Yes
what degree are u applying for?
BSc computer science
Well first sorry for the late reply got busy with real life stuff but i wanna be very sure
I took Bio Chem Math AS and if i didnt find a proper uni because to be honest non of the university websites help me in anything (talking about in german ones)
i would stop there and go somewhere that is fine with AS
and are u planning to do med in a german uni
if ur fine with answering that question and also if possible can u suggest unis that i can contact now
Im not going to do med so i dont know any unis and you need complete A levels to apply for any uni in germany btw. universities have abysmal communication so you need to rely on whats been provided on the uni website, DAAD and Anabin.
Not to demotivate you, but med is extremely competitive, you need fluency and A*s.

r/medicalschoolEU: Community for medical students from Europe and undergraduate medical programs. The right place for EU-specific questions …
Ik they talk about needing a language but using the other regulations you do not need it
@reef marsh
i wont lie to you but DAAD didnt help me at all in my search
which ones
and also u mentioned that
isnt the difference between the two is the first one has a language and the second doesnt?
How do I know which uni is good for me?
Yes
I was talking about the discussion in the link
I’m sorry I don’t really know a lot about med. ik it follows a different structure to other degrees. If you need help, ask in medschooleu subreddit or search for posts
Hey guys has anyone over here tried out Scholarships that offer to study in Japan? like MEXT, JPSS, or JASSO?
what courses/degrees do they offer ?
is there a website i can use to find universities which are still open for admission rn?
2022 to 2023
for medicine and biomedical engineering
There were plenty like Biomedical, Engineering, Economics and some more
its extremely competitive i gave up gl tho
Anyone goin to METU NCC here?
Can someone recommend a good (and low tution fees below $5000) business university in Europe?
My subjects are Accounting, Business, and Economics (and the grades I might get in ALevels is BBB)
And I am NOT an EU citizen, so it is better if the courses are in English
Most Unis at that price range are in countries where youd have to learn another language
Eastern Europe but you probably wouldn’t want to go there
And idk if they’ll accept without math
Math is usually mandatory for most universities
guys what do us university’s require
depends on ur country
That’s the broadest question I’ve ever seen in this channel
Lmao
can anyone suggest me some universities to look for other than toronto for Canada?
wt are you looking to major in
look into waterloo
But possibly its quite expensive tho, my cousin studied there few years ago
Not possibly it is really expensive 😂
i can seee that
Top 20 school not top 10 in the UK
that are good for computer science or any related CS/IT degree
Anyone
Ping me when you get the ans for this
Fairs
i would say oxbridge to begin with
What things should I consider of each university while shortlisting them?? I have around 60 universities I chose but I don’t know how to shortlist them
Fees, cost of living, location and how hard it is to travel to (connectivity by train/ plane/ car etc), travel time, is it in a city or a smaller place (and what you prefer), general city/ uni vibes, societies available (some may be more sporty than others), any specialties in the department (you can look at the optional modules available), do you have any family nearby (if that's important to you in terms of emergencies etc), course structure (you can give it a slightly arbitrary rating to sort it), grade reqs
At the end of the day you will be okay so some things can be slightly arbitrary because you'll find more to appreciate once you get in to the uni
Thanks 👍🏻

for those studying in the uk who rents a car, should I use sixt or europcars?
Renting cars gets expensive very quickly
If I want to do Maths, Physics, Biology and Computer Science at A Level, what universities would be good for me worldwide?
Depends what course you want to do and what your grades are
Something do with medicine
There's a whole bunch of courses you could do with these subjects really
First check if unis in your country need chemistry for medicine
Medicine directly will be a very different path to other courses in terms of admission wherever you go
They do... I'm trying to avoid Chemistry 😅
If you're looking at things like biomed etc then you have your work cut out for you
Okay, cool, how about Biomedical Engineering?
Again people have a lot of factors they look at, and it's up to you to decide. These are some I could think of today
You can look at rankings if you'd like and work down the list depending on your expected grades
Alright, thank you so much Mushu
No worries
I'd advise you to research courses more than unis tho at least this early on
Understood 💜
Would you need physics for a carear in geneticd?
I have taken bio chem and math..and i am confused whether to take physics
If your degree is biotechnology then yes because it's an engineering degree
My sister did biotech engg UG and a master's in molecular techniques in life sciences (name's too long to remember) and does a lot of bioinformatics and genetics now
Ohk thanks

Choose your UK university 🙂 🙃
Would love to go into Cambridge but broke so can’t afford it 😂
Ohh 😭 😭 get scholarship 😎
Is it enough to cover up my expenses
Like will the scholarship cover most of the Tution fee
Or better yet 100% scholarship
To be fair idk much about fees and finances. I think they'll cover most of it, if you're really a bright student ig
Where did Manchester go🗿
If you're very bright💡 use an LDR
There's fucking Manchester metropolitan 😭 💀
Yeah UoM is like uhhh #27?
Okay maybe it actually isn't bad but excuse the UoM kid shitting on it
I'm going to UoM
Depends on the faculty but it's pretty good
Wait You too?????
I can't remember the Aerospace ranking
Oh cool!
My friend is in aero it's so cool!!
First year next year I'm assuming?
In a few montjs
It's a lot of work defo
But doable
You do have a bunch of dry courses
But they're mostly good
Ahaha you have thermo first year second sem
Dry courses?
Am I supposed to add some Curry to make it moist?
💀 😭
Genuinely have zero idea
Sadly don't have lol
Is that bad sarcasm
Dry course is bad sarcasm? I don't get it🗿
No the curry joke
Dry just means it's boring
Necessary but boring
Ohhh🗿
Yeah I'm currently doing the math course beforehand in the hopes that it'd somewhat help me
How’s the Tution fee
£25,000 per year for internationals for sciences
What do they need for lyk international students who wanna do medicine?
Wdym what do they do
Also this is not for medicine
Med has their weird fee structure, never bothered understanding it
Gave +1 rep to Aishwarya#7376
What course are you taking in UoM
Maths and physics
Oh wow ok thx
Gave +1 rep to Aishwarya#7376
and it costs you 26000 pounds
damn bro that's alot
who has that much money around to spend on unis
🤣
Should see university of waterloo or any american uni
UK is on the moderate end actually
In most cases
26000 pound is on the upper end tho 😂
Why American ones are cheap ???
Pls tell me they are
I think you should sit down before hearing this
They are not
theyre around 50k a year i think
there really isn't any good university that is cheap unless you are a prodigy of some sort
50k usd right
Did you not do your research into there fees ?
They can be very cheap if you get a scholarship
You might just apply for a scholarship
You might get one who knows
No point in not applying
No not till now
Does anyone have latest version of this list
Is there one for canada
yea i would want this too
if anyone has a canada list send it here pls
i think i researched abt this one a month ago but i think its expensive i don’t remember exactly
don't think canada gives financial aid to international students
waterloo is how much for international cs bachelors??
approx price?
Probably around 90-130k
Canadian dollars per year right
Idk ask somebody who going to Canada university
