c is usually the minimum
But that also depends on the uni, a lot can have higher grade requirements but the lowest I’ve seen is C
AAB
ngl but if ur asking that question u havent rly put ur research into it
depends on the course ur applying for, if the 4th was really relevant eg u took chem phy bio math and ur bio was the C and u were applying for med yes they care
if it was engineering they wont
but also depends on whether A level bio is a minimum requirement for the uni
its uni dependant
oh so they just care about your three a levels
they don't rlly care about the mark for the fourth one like "aight you only got one C but the rest are A's, welcome to our uni"
depends, some unis have the grade requirements for specific subjects
like if im applying to CS and need an A*AA, its possible the A* has to be maths
like i have to have an A* in maths
so id advise looking it up on the uni website to be sure
yeah ik
ok let me set an example
the requirements for the engineering field I chose at a certain university requires AAA
A is mandatory for math and physics
and the other A can be for any other subject like bio, chem, compsci, fm (but not artistic subjects I would say like: english, literature, gpr, business)
So I did get three A's
A - math
A- Physics
A- Biology
but got a C for Chemistry
I took the fourth A level subject although it was not mentioned in the requirements
If I submitted my grades to the university, will they reject me despite my 3 A's because they noticed that I got a C on my fourth A level subject?
So they require 3 A levels and you did 4? To me it looks like you should be good
they don't care about my mark for the 4th one?
For the UK they only ask for three they don't look at the 4th one
As long as the three satisfy the requirement
Like obviously you can't apply to chemistry without chemistry
oh ok I shouldn't be too worried about balancing out all 4 of them, thanks mushu
wait were u the guy who went to cambridge university?
they don't have the grounds to do so since it doesn't say anything about a fourth subject in requirements
Lol I just applied to cambridge now
i am currently applying !
ucl, imperial, kings
Im applying to all the big ones coz i have safe options in other countries
Nice
for me Cambridge Imperial UCL LSE and warwick
ye im applying math
Same but I dont expect to get in anyways
I want to find a prestigious university somewhere in the UK far from london or any bustling city
I kinda considered cambridge at first but idk where else to go
St andrews?
hmm
there's no night time in Scotland
so basically the whole 24 hours will just be daylight
have you applied in canada?
Yeah applied 1 so far
which
Alberta
y
wdym?
It's really not don't worry
A) it's not that far up north
B) there will not be sun. Just rain. Sunlight is a myth.
C) the above causes a lot of clouds
Y'all smart
nah nah not smart
just applying to all the top ones coz I have backups elsewhere
so might as well try my luck
Yeah its expensive f
And I don't really want to live there
only chose LSE coz low standard offer
It's just too much
Wow Manchester was A* A* A for physics
so ye if I get in might as well keep that as insurance
Manchester is 3A* this year
f
THE FUCK?
Yeah apparently
Ik inflation was bad
ye lol
But I thought they weren't like allowed to do that
yeah they should at least keep an entrance test or something
imperial is doing that
Oh well I'm already in 😂
BRUH
yeah f
cambridge ucl bristol edinburgh and durham
my grades so far are rlly good and i have decent stuff on my SOP so. manifesting
computer science
no i meant like why alberta?
does it have a particular program you want?
CS
its pretty good for CS
thats why
and they have a scholarship
gotchu
Yeah
um for those who take like mechanical or aerospace eng, is chemistry really needed?
I didn't study chem for my igcse's and now I'm taking them for A-level, fearing that the courses in uni will have an identical standard to the A-level chemistry
most eng courses require chem but i would say check the subject requirements for specific unis you're looking at since it can differ
Depends where u apply
Yea but they also need a third a level
the 3rd subject can be any as long as it's not like gpr/literature
Oh ok
like those subjects where u use thoughts and philisophical stuff
Yea for aerospace it’s mainly math and physics
I was hoping someone who is either an undergraduate or a postgraduate can help
But you’ll need some knowledge of Chemistry in the course
Does it have a foundation year?
how much knowledge tho
Or is it a 3 year course
I plan for 3 yrs for my undergrad
Oh well if you have atleast AS chem you should be fine
OH THANK GOODNESS
This was for Canada, but they have a foundation year
Best is to contact the university and ask directly
oh alright then, thanks for the guidance
id still recommend chem as a third if ur only taking phy and math
oh
that changes everything yikes, then i dont recommend chem in A levels at all or your gonna have a really hard time
hello guys,
i want to know if it’s possible to get a scholarship in britain or usa or canada for international students in medicine major , my grades are straight A’s and my family cant afford getting me to college and i really want to study medicine in these countries, if anyone knows any information about fully funded scholarships there and how to apply or anything please ping me and inform me i would be really grateful
scholarships in the UK for internationals are usually incredibly difficult and i don't know / think any exist for med unless you have been doing stuff beyond just grades
you can apply for financial aid in the US but that is generally shitty for internationals too unless you go to harvard or something
then if it’s impossible for int. students in the us and uk , what other countries are suggested
do you know how can i apply to them and try my luck?
scholarships? also no
i did not apply for them so i dont know anything about them
if you mean unis in general i can help you!
applying to unis is fine for me, but scholarships, alright anyways thank you so much
and if anyone else have anything to add please that would be helpful
My sister wants to apply to the open university…
She wants to know whether it’s well respected.
You can try Europe but a lot of courses prolly won’t be in English but you can have a look. The medical field requires good communication skills so I wouldn’t be surprised if you will need a close to fluent understanding of the language
You can take a gap year and learn the language as well
Unfortunately thats a big no for canada
there's almost no financial aid for med unless you get bursary which still means you gotta pay 75% of the tuition which is alot
and ofc I dont know you well so you could very well be qualified but don't apply for med in Canada if your an international, its gonna be a waste of money. there's like 20 spots in total for international med school nationwide
oh okay , thank you so much for this information that helped a lot appreciated
Hi, I just want to know if it is to take the computer programming aspect of electrical engineering. From my research, it is also known as Electrical and computer engineering or ECE (not to confuse with electrical communication engineering. But the problem is that I did not take computer engineering for As and A level. My friends and Seniors informed me that computer programming is still possible, plus, electrical engineering is a pretty broad field. I just want to know how this would turn out.
The subjects i have chosen are Pure and Stat, Chem, and Physics for A level
If okay, I just want to see if there is a list of the uni that can provide that degree (any website, picture or just name is fine)
Guys got into Warwick!!!
Hey I also want to do medicine and I have researched it. The US and Canada only has medicine as a PostGrad degree so you'll have to do a bachelors in health sciences, take the MCAT and CARMS and then apply for a 4year MD program. Scholarships are difficult and the tuition is very high. It can take you 8-10 years to become a doctor. In the UK and Ireland, medicine is an undergraduate degree however unless you're EU(only applicable to Ireland post-Brexit), the tuition is very high. This is the harsh truth that if you want to do medicine in the US, UK, Canada or Ireland, it is impossible to do it without taking out gigantic student loans. Other option: QMUL, Malta at 27000 EUR per year for 5 years with a degree from QMUL. NewcastleUni, Malaysia at 21500EUR for 5 years. RCSI-Bahrain/Malaysia has lower fee + scholarship opps.
If you speak B1-B2 German, you can apply to germany for medicine they have amazing quality of education and free education. This is similar for other West EU countries and Nordic countries: education in native language and low tuition. In the east EU, medicine in English has an okay quality but it is much much cheaper than UK, US, Canada. In the EU, medicine is a 6 year degree + 1 year internship. It awards you an MD degree. Italy has a high quality of education with a low fee ranging from 0-4000 EUR per year for 6 years. Poland has a good-okay quality of education with fee ranging from 8000-14000 EUR per year for 6 years. There are other East EU countries such as Lithuania, Estonia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria etc. where you can study medicine in English but Italy and Poland are considered to be the best options for medicine in english in the EU. Always remember that you will have to learn a little bit of native language even if you're studying in english because you'll need to be able to understand the patient (but many doctors translate).
I got all this info from r/medicalschoolEU from reddit so check it out if you need help.
Congratulations! I don't know you but I'm very happy for you lol
lol
congrats!!
Thanks!
Congrats
Should I take a gap year for like, SATs and IELTS, I don't think IELTS is supposed to be hard or useful for that matter?
This is very good stuff, except you dont have to do a bachelor's in health science necessarily
You can do a BA and still apply to med
Just need to fulfill the pre reqs
depends from person to person
but gap years are more for mapping out ur life and career path, and mostly about refining that
IELTS isn't hard, if you've done IG English you should be good to go after doing 2-3 practice papers so all you need is like two weeks ig. And if you need more than that, just use your summer
I didn't do SAT so I can't comment on that but nearly everyone does it in conjunction with AS so I'm sure you can do it too!
Thanks, appreciate the help.
Just use Khan Academy to prep for SATs, if that doesn't yield scores of 1400+ in like about 24 hours of practice, you can look into proper SAT prep books
No worries, you should be able to find practice papers for IELTS online btw, just Google it (that's what I did)
For the writing section, look at sample answers because for some reason they're really picky about how they like it
Is it worth it, for Unis abroad I mean, especially the UK?
SATs are US specific or so I heard.
not necessarily
IELTS? It's just to prove that you can English really. Nobody is going to think your application is any better or worse for doing (or not doing) it
Cambridge asks for a English qualification, does IGCSE First Language count?
I did English as a second language for IG and wasn't sure if it was accepted so I wrote IELTS to be on the safe side
i took the SAT and uhh that depends on a lot
Check the requirements page or send them an email
like
Which cycle are you applying for?
where are you planning to apply [country and unis], what do you plan to study, and what cycle
Hm, okay, I did First Language, I'll be applying in 2023.
and have you tried any SAT papers before
yes the SAT is only for the US really
not worth doing it for anywhere else i dont think
And a uni in Finland according To hayzy
UK is the first preference, I will go for US if it doesn't work, other choices include Germany and other Nordic countries, still haven't considered alternatives.
you do not need the SAT for the UK
the US is a very complicated process so good luck with it as a backup - are there certain unis you are consdering there?
I'm aware but was just wondering, doesn't hurt to go for it I guess.
So you have time, send them an email (they're probably very busy with this cycle of applications since the deadline is in 3 days so be patient) and just check that your English qualification is applicable
Not yet, as I said I haven't really considered alternatives to the UK, CS at Cambridge is the plan for now.
well that depends, if you could save the time and money from the SAT and spend it revising for a levels instead that might be beneficial
dont count on it
not to be harsh but
cambridge is difficut
and you should always have a safe backup
unless youre okay with taking a gap year
Yes, I'll figure something within the next year, I'll be done with A2s in Oct/Nov 2022.
^^ thats what i mean dont just plan for cambridge
Hmm, I see.
Because obviously there are so many people applying to Cambridge that even if you are good enough, it might just be chance
Cuz there'll be another 500 people who are equally qualified
Forgive the pessimistic view
yeah i was looking at the stats for queens [where i just applied] and its 12 applications per seat
so even if youre qualified there is always an aspect of chance bc there are 11 others youre up against
honestly its just realistic
CS is very competitive at cam
its competitive everywhere in fact lol
even UCL CS has like a 15% offer rate or something
yeah
Mm, game of luck.
Medicine or architectural engineering
Yep thats right. Any major is fine as long as you meet the pre-requisites and score well on the MCAT. People just usually take health sciences since its the most relevant and will help you on the MCAT.
I have researched about medicine in turkey- mostly on Koc University in Istanbul, you can ask any qn related to that.
Does it offer scholarships or is it public school and is it a good known University
Yes it offers scholarships, and yes it is a recognized university situated in Istanbul.
It also offers other courses, you can look em up on their website.
It is an international private university so most of the courses are taught in English
- including Medicine
Scholarships are mostly merit based
yo @tiny lagoon , do u know anything about turkish cyprus unis?
for medicine
if they are accredited around the world
coz i hear from people unis in north cyprus are recognized and from some i hear they arent recognized
Nope idk bout that sry
np
So like how can I got a scholarship from them and thanks
Um..you need good A level grades, and be academically good, perform well in their interview and if they see the qualities in you, they would give
Btw the scholarship varies from 25%-100%
It depends on how good you are and somewhat on what course u chose
Like for medicine I don’t think they give 100% but I’m not sure
Alright thanks
Np
does anybody know about a university in U.K in Birmingham called Aston university
if its good or not
(for medicine MBChB)
I wanna do something economics/maths so according to my research LSE, Cambridge, UCL, Warwick are my top choices for now. any suggestions for the 5th?
Btw cambridge deadline is over
yeah im year 12 I'm not applying this year
so i want to do vet med. i'm thinking uk, usa and australia but i'm not too sure about usa bcuz its gonna be a 4+4. any uni suggestions from these countries?
dont click on it
dont click on what
Anyone goes middlesex here?
used to live in middlesex
London campus?
hi guys, hope you are doing really great, i am really not sure about my university choice, the course i am interested in is computer science and i am opting to pursue it in the US, does anyone know any good university in the US that offers nice scholarships and is also reputed for my course?
well i mean
Harvard does afaik
but you have to be EXTREMELY lucky to get accepted especially for a course like computer science
worth trying though
For CS, Georgia Tech is very good too
Uni of Edinburgh and Surrey are good for vet med. It also depends on where you want to work in the future
Oxford
Hi guys, are there anyone studying in ANU (Australia National University)? I will be starting my foundations at ANUC next year and i was wondering if anyone has any tips or information i need to know before going to campus.
Thxx
Try to look for their reddit or discord server
usually these unis have their own student communities
ok thanks
Okay I have a question, do I need the AICE diploma for university? It feels like my school's the only one forcing us to do global perspectives AS level and at least 1 humanity just to get the diploma. The thing is I don't see anyone else which is doing CAIE A levels with any humanities or GP at all.
AICE is not necessary
Take whatever A Levels cater towards your degree/you enjoy
How about for Portugal though? My parents can't seem to be bothered to ask the university :/
Affordable Medicine coz probably I feel like I will be independent and doing it on my own? plus reqs and should I contact the uni a year before aand specializations happen when I am studying medicine or I become a general surgeon then chose what specializations I'm going to specialize in?
you do medicine
then go for surgery as a specific
then go for the specific of the surgery afterwards, I think
unsure
you should contact your uni as soon as possible tbh
AICE is not necessary anywhere
Go look at the uni’s website and check what subjects the major asks u for
MBBS--> Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery?
I think it should be master's not sure.. wait for someone else to reply to this stuff
i think u have to do master's to practice medicine
lol
I dont think so or else MBBS would have been hella useless
o interesting
most people go for master's tho
well obviously thats better but still mbbs is a basic degree which can be used to practice medicine
thats for masters thee short form
to go for masters u have to do bachelor first just like to enter grade 12 u need to have passed grade 11
people usually do medicine masters to practice medicine is what i meant
ah mb
i think masters is needed to practice medicine in ur own clinic but not in a private hospital
not sure tbh
maybe u need masters to go for more dangerous surgeries
like neurons and stuff
but check google
well thats specializations
ah yes
u need masters for specializations
oh rip
i think thats what my parents and everyone told me
idk lemme research and send it
okay
so like u get payed and u still learn
yes
exactly
ii heard that somewhere
u still work as a surgeon and specialize while u do
h
seems like a win win
lol
Hey, do you guys know any countries that have good but affordable engineering colleges?? I know Germany does but the top colleges teach in german
some are in english check the DAAD website
Yes the DAAD has a search where u can filter internationals programs by English
Also there’s no such thing as top unis in Germany, they all have a similar standing, you should go read r/Germany, they have a wiki where they give you a ton of information about studying in Germany
r/germany: English-language discussions and news relating to Germany and German culture.
Thank you so much
Id like to do bioengineering any recommendations for uni
It depends on the country, what are you looking at rn?
Any country is fine my search is still broad
Germany's p good for engineering! N the tuition fee is more friendly compared to the US/UK
But you'd have to learn the language for certain courses
I'd also recommend the UK if possible, Imperial's great for it
Canada, McGill
Or maybe Toronto
London's high budget tho, just for info, both living and tuition
Ye that's why I said if possible
My friend does bioeng in Imperial and he's been enjoying it
But he had to get a loan from his gov
any recommendations for accounting?
Guys. Initially I was planning to become an electrical engineer focusing on power field but i have decided that I want to do programming and computer (oriented). Currently, I am doing A2 for Physics, chemistry, pure and statistics. Is it too late for me to join in computer engineering or is there any other field I can take to get closed to it.
you need cs for programming
A few unis do have cs as a requirement but for the most part ur good
Jus check the soecific uni
Okay, thanks you all
No you don't need a levels cs for cs at uni
if anything
at all the amazing unis they barely teach you programming
most of the time it's just maths
but check again just to be sure
Any of you know any good universities accepting only IGCSE ?
all do
Most of them require A levels as well though
What I meant was, like, straight to uni without A levels
oh yeah there are few that accept only igcse
that may be tough
i thought you meant which accept the igcse board
Where I live, they accept only IG for uni admission
But I wanted to see if there are more options abroad
Yeah sorry I wasn't specific
To be fair he said “only IGCSE”
he edited it after
How is University of Illinois @ Chicago? I got an acceptance from there
So, if anyone interested, there's a way to find out universities that accept only IGCSE
Cambridge Assessment International Education is the world’s largest provider of international education programmes and qualifications for 5 to 19 year olds.
Depending on your location
The location you enter in the search*
What is your major
Computer science… recommend any other good unis aswell pleasee im an avg student with good leadership skills
I have 3A*s in my a levels and i have no idea what to do
Be happy (;
Happiness (:
Which subjects?
bio chem physics
im applying in med school
*schools
but i doubt i could get in
plus i dont find medicine that interesting
Why doubt? U have amazing grades MaSha Allah
medicine is a practical science
research and labwork is something that i like more
U can go in biomedical sciences
Are you applying inside Pak
i am

i could probably fuck off abroad
but admissions closed almost everywhere
I think unis abroad give you at least a year to declare your major
but ofc not here
they do everything to make life harder for us here
Right
Admissions in pak are late
gen1
I really hope I get accepted abroad so I can leave
There no other option than doc or eng
exactly
i could probably do clinical research
or do some phd programme after medicine
but ill just be working more to get paid less

not for med
practical research pays well
not so practical research pays not so well
Monash university
UIUC is decent
It isn't too expensive and has good cs rankings
I think its a good place to get an undergrad from
I have applied to it too
I am confused. So I am actively searching for universities with Computer and electronic engineering Beng but the websites keep sending me back to either computer science or electrical engineering even tho those 2 pairs are different
and the websites that have the degree I am searching for are from unis with really low ranking
I am also confused by the fact that computer engineering integrates electronic according to one of uni webpage so am i supposed to choose computer science?
monash
Bruh its not "decent" its Top 10 in the US
Most prolly going there Insha Allah
Anyone going to monash from here?
Ohhh greatt
Yeah did u get in for CS?
coz its expensive f
wasn't it ED?
Ualberta
huh?
I may aswell go to Deakin its little cheaper than monash
Early Decision
ohh nice
@faint pulsar alberta canada one?
ye
they dont offer scholarships?
i think u apply later
Whats the final fees?
for scholarship
30k CAD a year for 4 years
4% acceptance rate
20% ED
acceptance rate
don't run away after giving me hope
dartmouth
NYU isnt 4% for sure unless ur doing stern
AD
idk yeah it's probably more for ED
Yeah
but it's still very low
Yeah ofc
I'm also stuck on submitting my grades because AS exams got cancelled in May here
because the A Level results aren't a requirement
I just don't know what to put on the SRAR
I dont think so
hmm
I know other people who have applied too
did u submit SAT?
with the same case
oh ok
yeah
1500
not good tbh
we dont have many opportunities here and covid ruined it too
I'm literally gonna die if I get accepted lol
Btw have you filled in the SRAR for any uni?
I filled it on Commonapp
none of my unis asked for it
school directly sent the transcripts
I honestly don't know
oh
My family liked them tho
lol I didnt even show my essays to my family
and the counsellor but I dont trust her lmao
damn I wasn't confident about submitting them without showing it to a few people
oh ok
So knowing that I screwed up my grades: BBBD from TAG
I was advised to retake the AS along with A level in May/June by my teacher.
My seniors rather recommend me to settle with lower universities which would be 10-15 ranked unis in UK.
Which one I should be doing?
Depends on what you think you’re capable to do
If you think you can get AAAA then obv your gonna redo them
But if You’re fine going to a lower ranked university then pick that
You have to decide for yourself, it’s your life
yea of course
but I just want to know more pros and cons before making any decision
What course are you doing?
depends on that
computer science
Saint Andrew is at top of the list and the minimum requirement is AAB
A* A* A 💀
which is why I ought to retake the exams (if i wish to enter top unis)
But when will u apply then
How's Malaysia ?
Most of the unis I have searched into have deadlines in Jan (Am I not sure how this will turn out with TAG grades since they are based on A2 100%)
I am finalising my personal statement for Ucas this Monday. I have filled out other factors such as personal experience such as work and volunteering
I still do not know my predicted grades, yet
oh ok
Any good choices for me to consider for Universities in Japan for Robotics after Cambridge ALs? I'm studying the language but it'd be more convenient if its taught in English
You are planning to study abroad, what are your priorities? Prestigious places of learning? An environment where you can live in peace? A rewarding cultural experience? Japan has it all! Outstanding educational institutions, freedom and security in everyday life, and a fascinating culture. Read on, and we are confident you will discover severa...
idt they have robotics but engineering is there
How is Carleton University for business?
Decent
Hmm could you elaborate a bit
Any good business schools in Canada that don't have a level maths as a prerequisite?
Most if not all do
You can probably find more reliable info online
Cause maths is a very common pre-req that's required for a lot of majors nowadays
Do universities in the UK only care about your A level grades or also your school?
^^
The best ones are Queens Ivey UBC Mcgill I think
the predicted grades r the final mock exams done in sxul?
depends on ur school
Is anyone here going to Georgia Tech 👀
does anyone know if universities in poland is better or worse than in hungary (for ex: medical uni of warsaw vs medical uni of pecs)
Idk about hungary but ik quite a few people who're doing med in poland
can you tell me more about it
how is the studying there, is it good or is it bad or can be improved
that idk
Hello is anyone familiar with MIT for economics?
MiT as in the on the US? It's good for sure but ig Uchicago is the best in the US
Anyone going to Georgia Tech this spring
Hi everyone
I am studying igcse with 9 subjects currently (grade 9)
My bro is doing AS with 3 subjects (grade 11)
i wanna know what schools are there in rottordam which offer my brothers syllabus
from my findings i only found IBDP over there
for me i found RISS school which offers igcse for 10 subjects
pls help me and tell which school is there for my bro hope you guys can help
ik there are British schools in Rotterdam but they are really expensive
my bro can't do ib as the school said that you cant because you are not studying ib syllabus
also for him its really hard as there are more subjects and the overall syllabus is harder
some of his friends have directly taken admission in uni for bachelors after getting the ig result so is there something like that in Rotterdam
he can get into uni of applied sciences
they accept 2 AS 4 IG subjects I think
he wants to study in the field of computer science so is there a uni for that
are there any uni in rotterdam which offers CS for igcse students (7 subjects)
So I’m left with 2 choices:
Complete the first year of the bachelor in India and then study the rest of possible in Germany( not sure if the credits transfer). During that time I’ll be learning German as well
Or
Work for a year, preferably in the Aerospace industry for experience or even an internship and learn German at the same time. I also would like to explore CS, I have a very brief idea of it but it looks interesting.
Not asking you guys to make this decision for me but insights would be helpful
My cousin does aerospace eng over there
tbh MIT is obv best known for engineering and tech so idk abt economics
Cool! Which year?
I do plan on applying to UChicago as well, but MIT holds a high prestige worldwide so not sure if I should go for it since it is very competitive
It has come up as top 5 in the qs ranking for economics over the years so i’m considering it
I have thought about LSE but it’s expensive for international students
I dont like LSE tbh they place too much weightage on the personal statement and they reject very qualified ppl coz of that
Nice
Atb for Uchicago their prompts are insane
Go through with 1 year india atm. Unless you have a job eaiting on you don't believe that anyone will hire you
People are having tough time getting jobs with just bachellors so like I would recommend staying in education
I think he started 2 years ago, not sure though
nothing wrong in applying right? Go for it, apply to both and then you can choose where to go according to where you get in. All the best!
Oh
My bad I worded that wrongly, I meant in the gap year I would work then apply for Germany
does anyone know any good engineering school at like south india
hey guys im planning to do an undergrad in US and currently im studying for igcse which i have this feb. the only subject which i feel is relatively weak is english first language. its not that i dont know english, infact i prefer speaking english as if it were my mother tongue and i do have decent vocab. However i realise EFL is quite challenging and requires a lot of studyand practise. Ahead i plan to study engineering where i wont have much use of professional english, so i was thinking a better option might be to do english as second language whr i dont need to study and instead focus on my sciences and math. Can anyone tell me whether IGCSE ESL is good enough for top US universities? Since anyways im gonna give SAT which is half english subject I thought it would be but i just wanted to hear anyone’s opinion. (feel free to ping/dm me)
I think you can avoid english as a subject by taking ielts or toefl but you will have to check it out
I got that. Unless you have a fixed plan for a gap year, stayin in education. I would say don't expect to get an internship or like a job right away. You might end up not getting any work at all so like I would stay in education. Look into private colleges and write to the admin staff about the pathway for transfer students.
It would be wiser to find an institue that would facilitate your transfer instead of getting a job imo
I applied to the UK with English second language and IELTS and had no issues if that helps
oh alright
so ielts and toefl are good enough right?
i mean along with english second language
Should be yeah
I applied last year and got rejected from there for the same reason as well, I have made progress with my cv since so i’m not sure if adding that while applying a second year will be worth it
Idt they care much about that they care if it matches with their course in my case it didnt match
Unless ure a math megamind and u interned for 2+ years tour chances of getting in are very slim tbh, the criteria is very disappointing
lol
even oxbridge doesnt care abt all that
hi ! idk where to ask this but would you recommend someone to take **IELTS **to have a certificate of English proficiency (for applying to colleges abroad) or just having your AS / A-level records of the English subject is acceptable as well? does anyone here have an experience on this (esp applying to colleges abroad w your A level scores)
thank youu!
(they even accepts gcse/igcses)
Anyone have any idea of University of Alberta for Computing science with honours? (Feel free to ping me)
I got in for computing science but not honours
I am asking if you would recommend it
Yes its top 5 for CS in canada

Canadian citizens who lived and attended a high school outside Canada
Did you use the OUAC 105 Application?
@cedar hollow
Vellore Institure of Technology (VIT), IIT Chennai, RV college of engineering (Bangalore), etc.
any one here studying high school in canada?
Guys what extracurriculars should I do to get an admission in Germany?
what you enjoy
Don’t do some 1 hour webinar for a certificate
An Olympiad at a state level and internships and apprenticeships for more than a month will be relevant
All these need to be relevant to your degree program
It differs by university and type of admission(No restriction, Aptitude test or NC)
You will need to find the statutes. This will show the formula for grade conversion and what arcs they consider
Please explain this
Btw, I am targetting universities with the an acceptance rate greater than 20%
What level is your German? And what degree program are you looking for
I am in AS Level and I am preparing for A1 Level German at the moment. My first priority is biomedical engineering. Then I would like to go for Neuroscience or bioinformatics . If I am unable to go for these programs I would go for a double major of Biochemistry with another similar course
What level are you going to study till? Do you want to study in English or is German fine as well
B2 Level or if time permits C1
Its better if its in English, if not German is fine
Use this to search for english courses
when do you give your exams for A2?
I am currently preparing for A1 in end of January.
I meant For A levels, A2
Oh that. It’s gonna be in May June 2023
Well the application deadline is July 15 for most unis. You would receive grades in august. And you can’t apply with predicted grades unfortunately
so they want everyone to take a gap year?
Yea, I don’t get it. I mean surely there’s a way that I don’t know of cause most of the world gives a levels in May june.
And also why is information is so scarce about admissions
hello
Yeah, but can't they apply with their AS grades next year?
No you can’t, it says you need A level in connection with AS

@dense walrus How are the Austrian Public universities? Are they good?
Anyone we know?
Like we on the server
Any clue which degrees
Ahh ok
I haven’t done much research but someone recommended me FH joanneum and Wiener Neustadt for Aerospace engineering so have a look for your degree course. Some courses are offered in English
Depends on your circumstance. For me yes it’s absolutely worth it because I can’t afford other unis
Does being a private student negatively impact university admission?
@cedar hollow help me brazar
idk what to do for apps and all
besides carleton and york the rest have high percentage and ecs needed
@robust veldt
if we're Canadian citizens living and attending schools outside Canada
what
isn't OUAC 105 for international students as well
cause that's what I have used
Yea
Same
Yeah
Yeah we use the 105
Wdym?
anyone??
does any1 know the qualifications need to study microbiology
n can v do interior designing without maths
You will be needing A Levels Chemistry and Biology for sure. Some selective universities require maths or physics alongside it so it depends upon which university you plan on applying to
oh ok, thx 🙏
ok
what would the first document be? how else would i prove that I have done A-levels without the grade certificates?
I asked you have to take gap year and apply
Oh yea ik about that, university is aligned with the German secondary academic year. I guess it’s a price to pay for no tuition fees lol
Yeah true
I mean its mainly coz CIE takes so much time f
IB comes early
so they can apply
Yea it hurts seeing IB friends applying this year
But I’m thinking of doing a year here in India. I doubt the credits transfer but my parents are opposed to me sitting at home for year learning German.
obviously I’d do other things, explore other fields for example
ikr
So you’re applying to Germany?
Yea I’m applying for 2023 as well but winter. Unfortunately the degree program only starts in the winter
I wonder what are the admission policies for Austria
for us the school is making us do AS in may june and A in feb series so that we can apply in India as well
Yh I wish I knew about Germany at the start of AS, but I planned to do A2 in May June after O/N AS exams
What are India’s application deadlines btw
it's mostly entrance exams here that go on from around Feb to April
Yeah my school has may/june as well.
hey guys i just finished igcse and idk if i should take a levels or ADP
Im not sure which one to refer to, i will be applying Winter 2023 btw
The notes are on both ones
Hi guys, i just joined commonapp for usa uni applications, and idk what to do or where to start, i have a list of uni's im interested in ready to apply

Iirc you have to start writing essays and fill out your bio and stuff
Hi guys, when applying for scholarships for universities. Do they look into the grades from school exams? Like semester exams?
Are any of you looking into Singapore universities? If so is math in as and a levels required?
some do
pretty sure it depends on your major
i am, and singapore uni's are quite hard to get in especially NUS, Nanyang, so preferably if u take as and a level it will help
Hi guys, is anyone applying to Australian National University? if yes please dm me
i need help in application process
I want to study bioengineering, which universities do y’all recommend
mcgill
I am trying to apply to waterloo and they are suggesting that I should give the euclid competition next year
I am giving my a levels in feb/march and I am not sure if I would be able to manage + I am not sure when they will give me admission results because I have to decide most of uni by march
it's in April
you should be done with everything by then
also they give offers in may
after euclid results come out
anyone here have information about studying medicine in Germany for international A level students please ping me so that i Can dm you privately, its really urgent
Not medicine but maybe I can help
hi could anyone explain how study abroad programs works
According to anabin
Wait
I think medical courses also have like high grade requirements from what I've read
Ik wrong channel
but how much prep is needed for ielts
to get 7.5+
I speak english I would say 80% of the time
since it's p much the only language I speak in school
or what I speak most of the time
you dont always need ielts for every uni i think
some might even consider o/a level english grades as proof enough
Very little prep
Just do two practice papers before and see how you feel
some of the ones i'm applying to need it unfortunately
cause it's my second language
I did prep the weekend before dw
I did English second language for IG and the pattern is very similar
Just for the writing, read a couple of sample answers first because they have a specific style they like
Alright will do
btw
if you don't mind me asking did you do ielts academic or general?
Academic
Unis ask for academic only
alright
Man i was sitting there doing the writings like how tf do i know if i did well or not
Honestly you don't really know
I just tried to mimic the style as well as I could and hoped for the best
Thats what im doing too lmao
The writing was ultimately my lowest score
Sometimes the fucking charts are so garbage
Yeee
Welp i got listening and reading
Listening is exactly the same as IG english
We never had it in e1l aishu
Ive had it in some other classes before tho
Fairly simple
Just like my math Phys degree💀

See that would be useful
And a harmonic approxillator
It's not that I like prob and stats

But I have no probability/ stats modules
Strange
We don't have space for it
Next year idk if I'd be allowed to take an intro course
Which one 😂
All of them
Wow
Our Phys lecturers are too nice I can't do that
True
is there anyone here who has applied to U of calgary
any recommendation for a uni in Germany ? for business administration
is it possible to apply for a uni after finsihing only AS level
Not in Germany
There’s not really a ranking in Germany
This is quite random, do with this as you may.
The following question always throbs at the back of my head- is university really worth it?
(2)
Depends on the career choice and the persons mental state id say
^^ if you wanna study pure sciences and do research, defo go to uni
Ion think I'll ever have the mental capacity to face academics again:DDD
Well i didnt mean mental state like that
I meant more like
It can help people find what they wanna do
Thaz a scam
Doesnt necessarily have to be a place where u know what to do
They just want ur mOnEy
I want ur money
I want it too 😔
LMAO
Ah yes, the curse of spiraling debt.
LOL
For uni it depends as a lot of companies don't require degrees to get a decent job
They look at your talent rather than your degrees
well, idk how accurate that is
Google has so many applicants lmao plus that leetcode test
Why keep ur options closed off
yeah imagine the competition for stuff like this
cries in non profit unis
Has anyone here done or is currently doing BSc Econs in symbiosis?
Can someone please recommend me some universities offering Bsc in neuroscience in Germany/Austria?
Use the daad website for Germany
Hey. Can someone please tell me any good Unis in Portugal that do CS?
Hii Any recommendation of good unis for engineering courses?
Where specifically ?
is monash malaysia same as australia ?
try out MIT, Stanford, Harvard in the US
if you wanna target UK then try Imperial College London, Kings College London, UCL, University of Cambridge
hey anyone knows if i can take fashion designing course without an A level diploma?
hmm i believe the requirement is also high in terms of our results?
is math, physics, computer science the must subject to take the course? im little confused cuz now i need to select my classes
Heyy!!
Does anyone know if AS A Level is better or IB for choosing a course in Business or Business in Technology
Not really, the requirements usually range from A-B in the three A levels you pursue
Generally for most engineering courses, you do need chemistry as well. However, with these subject choices, you can go for Computer Engineering (though some universities may require chemistry as well for this one), or even software engineering.
Tbh, A level would suit better, as you have the freedom to pick just the commerce subjects, whereas in IB, you can only take one commerce subject, and 5 other unnecessary ones in your case (2 subjects from sciences, 1 math subject, 1 English and 1 second language). Though IB is universally recognized, its not really suited for Commerce students. IB better suits science students.
Ohhh!!
Thank youu so much !!
also, i thought i can only take 4 subjects in A level
my original option was - ECO HL or business management HL , IT HL and Eng lang and lit HL + Phy SL, Math AA SL and eco or business management SL
i want to keep my options open in just more than commerce
is that possible ??
Is it worth it doing MBBS from china ?
& any recommendations for unis that offer it in english medium ?
You get the same degree
It's the Australian uni's branch
Hii guys i have a question i want to study engineering in uk so i took A Level Maths ,Physics and Biology . Maths results will be released this Monday wish me luck anyway I don’t know what type of engineering to specialise in . Is this a problem ? should i know i think it’s a-bit early to decide
I think you will be in a better position to decide regarding specialisation once you are in the course and u can also explore further during uni with the help of professors/lecturers etc.
Engineering course in Cambridge the first two years are general engineering fundamentals then you specialise so I thought I could choose then
When I’m exposed to subjects and meet actual professors who have specialised in different fields
I just don’t like not knowing exactly what i want if h knw wht i mean
I am assuming you are getting your AS results? If you are planning to apply to Cambridge for 2022 entry, you are too late as the deadline was back in 15th October 2021. If you are applying for 2022 entry, the UCAS deadline is very soon. Either that or you are taking a gap year?
Naah im in year 11
Im applying for 2023
But ik that I won’t finish all my subjects until June 2023 how will i apply then😅
i need some assistance , im gonna apply for harvard the end of this year but i dont have any honors/awards , how do i get some , my school doesnt have clubs and stuff like that
I'm a bit confused sorry haha
Maybe someone can assist you with this question?
Search online
thnx man i couldnt think to do that myself
Ok I could suggest one competition
Check breakthrough junior challenge
And the waterloo math competitions
Euclid
thanks i will check them out
For international students not really, most places have a £2/3k if you get 3 A* or something on those lines which is automatic but other than that you're gonna have to look for specific region based scholarships
okay thanks
As an international defo
dang
cuz I got a conditonal offer just now from a not so good uni so I was wondering whether or not Im really that bad that I couldnt get an unconditional offer from a lower tier uni XD
Nah they generally don't give them out to intls, don't overthink it
does caltech offer good cs subjects
what would be a good university for cs
on the learning basis
mind telling the name of uni?
uni of kent
HI GUYS
University of toronto.
im sure people party in China mate, that shouldnt be an issue
but id imagine your life would be pretty not fun if you didnt speak decent Mandarin
It should be fine if you know mandarin
i can't afford to go to the uk for medicine cause they have an exorbitant fee. where do you guys suggest i apply for undergrad medicine (MBBS)? my home country is not an option
Manipal University has a really good campus in Malaysia
thanks!
do you know someone there? or is there any uni you recommend? thank youu
lithuania could be interesting...i have a friend that goes there but im not too sure bout the price
look for unis in germany too tho. i heard that public ones are tution-free
Need to know B1 level German
oh okay thanks ill check it out!
yea for 99% of unis, there are a few English taught degree programs though
well true but u can learn that and it should be cheaper than uk unis
Yea
Actually I’m pretty sure that not all unis require B1, C1 is the preferred but unis that offer B1 also offer intensive language courses. I might be wrong on this
