yeah practice papers are good!
if you know the structure of the paper then it's definitely good
Im jus havin issues with the reading and writing tbh
the books generally outline a couple of good techniques and explain different question types which is helpful
lol i feel you
Like some stuff jus doesnt go thru my head
practice will definitely help
i would suggest khan academy if you don't already use it
I got a 1240 somehow regardless of that
lifesaver
On a practice
I am rn
what are you aiming for?
1400-1500+
it'll take a lot of work but practice makes perfect
Plan was to do mediocre on english
khan academy + practice papers, and a book maybe if you can get your hands on one
And ace maths
yep
the maths is easier to ace since it's all objective
good luck!
- if you need any advice/help i got you
U too if ur takin it
oh i did mine in march
Man š
Aight two months of prep seem enough i think
Probs wont get a book tho
depends how much work you put in tbh
Im doin like a paper-ish a day
i started preparing less than a month before mine
Along with tip vids
but i did 4 tests a week and upped my score by over 100
so if you do a test a day you should be able to get at least a 90 point boost!
gl dude
Thanks
i only recently found out you can get waivers for a high SAT score so that's pretty cool
.
keep in mind tho that singapore a levels are different to caie a levels
Theyāre harder right
But it said there Singapore-cambridge A levels right?
Yep
Yeah, I'm just saying it as a thing to keep in mind
So Iām thinking of applying to Carleton for aerospace but Iāve noticed that for the first year, you take the same courses, and then it gets more specialised. I was wondering if itās possible to apply for mechanical and then switch to aerospace 2nd year? Would this save me money?
are the fees different for mechanical and aero??
Why don't you just start with aerospace in the first place?
Since they're both engineering, the fees should be the same
It wouldnt save you money
You can check the fees table to confirm btw but pretty sure it varies by faculty so since both are in engineering they're same
Ohhh, I was told aerospace is generally more expensive so thought this would be a loophole lol
you can check the tuition table
its on carleton's website
It shows fees by faculty not specifically which type of engineering
So I guess itāll be the same for all
@slow violet
no way
This command requires you to have the Manage Messages permission to use it
everything seems legit until you get a virus
Yo anyone applying to Finnish universities?
nah ive got some time until I finish university

i mean just by looking at the link you can tell its not legit
Need someone to ELI5 TU delf admission process
Honestly no idea
ill probably end up applying to TU delf tbh
UK/US is expensive for someone in the EU
canada is beyond expensive for cs
fuckin brexit xD'
@hollow hill
My brother went to TU delft last year before moving to Manchester
He said that itās incredibly time consuming, really hard and you should definitely learn Dutch before moving
Compared to the UK, you spend twice as much time studying in delft
But he also said itās really rewarding if you manage to finish the course
"if you manage to finish the course" š š š
It has a 50% dropout rate for a reason
oof
Has anyone or someone you know taken SET (Symbiosis Entrance Test) for Symbiosis school of economics, Pune. I'd like to know more about it
Still better than being in 250k debt
If I get financial aid in a good uni in NA ill think about it, if not I have no reason to even consider when the TUs are all 2k euros at max
Anyone trying to get into ohio state university
Hello everyone, I hope you are doing fine. I am thinking about either studying computer engineering or anything IT related. Does anyone know of some good universities in the UK for that?
what's your definition of good? are you looking for just really selective/competitive places? is financial aid important to you? and do you just want good unis, or do you want recommendations that might be better for you? in which case you might have to tell us more about what you're looking for
you can just use this to find the rankings by subject if you wanted to
UK unis are 25k per year so 75k total
Or 100k if you do a 4 year course
bruh most decent unis there costs like 60k
a year
its a pain
That's the US...
Unless you're looking at Oxbridge or London
And even those are probs max 40
Not 60
Harvard charged 50k a year for online classes on zoom lmao
Nobody changed their fees for covid tho
This for CS?
Yup
Is it the same for other courses?
I think AE is prolly the same
Is it? Hopefully not
no i was referring to the us
ye
Why not go to the UK
cuz TU delft is significantly cheaper, only reason i would go to the US is for the coops
and nothing else
Wait what unis did you get offers from
? i am in year 12
Why df you have UG role
cuz pugs gave it
.........?
Oh
people in general was complaining abotu maths
we were talking about maths with mirza, they were complaining
š
but yeah i don't have a good enough reason to go to the uk
so where are you applying [country?] and what for?
Iād only go to the UK if I got offers from top unis
CS
applying really depends
netherlands, canada, uk, us
I would most likely end up in the netherlands tbh
2
years
yeah
year 12= grade 11
atleast in most countreis
countries*
ah nvm yeah ill have to apply in a year
eitherways thanks*
yeah ik lol im a y13
Is may June too late for fall admissions?
yep
whatcountry
if it's UK/US then yes
canada too i think
Canada, US, EU
Oh thanks
I wonder if itās worth taking A level chem; I struggle my ass off and itās not even required in most unis
application deadlines are generally jan
But Iām being pressured to take it. Itās mostly US that require an A level for chem other worse AS is fine
what do you want to study?
Yea, also Iām taking AS retakes in November, the results are really close to the deadline
no idea
Aerospace engineering
if it's CS/engineering in the US, then it's a good idea to take A level chem
then yea might be good
rarely see it as a requirement tho
for cs
true but some colleges do require it and others like to see science involvement for 4 years
i hope you're taking physics lol
Ah
im doing IB
so im fucked
had to take physics, math, CS for HL
while my real goals are very different
I wanna go to Kyoto Sekai
to study about anime girls
and jiggle physics
this university sounds fun as well
lmao
EASIEST UNIVERSITY EVER EASY CLAP
20 episodes in a week? i do that in a day at times
10 books per months kind of a pain holy but manga makes it a lot easier
for #3 I wonder if pornography counts
#4 is easy
Yes
do i need to take english profiency exams if ive been doing CIE and done english in IG and taken EGP for AS level? (studying in india)
yes
afaik
if you are indian and study in india then probably
Iām not Indian
idk if theres a major difference between the TOEFL and IELTS
if youre fluent either should be pretty easy
Ok thanks
IELTS is easier than TOEFL imo
@slow violet
@lofty idol
Huh
The link was here
Ah oki
anyone choosing med?
also do u need phy for med? found out in indua u do...but what about other countries?
i heard few can accept maths instead of physics, and also there are few unis which require bio and chem only, so it depends on the uni ur looking for
they normally require u to chose chem and u have a choice between bio and physics
not 100% sure tho
it depends on the university afaik. some of them "encourage" [ie - really want] all sciences, some want bio and chem, some just require chem, so id just suggest reading up on the places you want to apply
where are you planning to apply? and are you talking a level?
does anyone know how many A levels does new Zealand universities need? because i couldn't find enough info in there websites
Hey guys, Iām in some semi-deep shit, and need some advise. Planning on taking AS exams in November, and a mock before that to see where Iām at, but not very confident about it, and I donāt want to apply with shit AS grades because I want to get into good unis and I know I can, but my head hasnāt been straight until now. If I get my mocks back and see that I havenāt done well, what are my options? I really want to go to university next year, canāt afford to lose anymore time, and that too at the ones I want to because I know can get into them, itās an issue of time. What can I do? Please help.
If you are giving AS in Nov, you can give your A levels in May/June 2022 and still be able to get to Uni in the fall of 2022
How many subjects do you plan to take?
@cedar hollow yes that is the plan but the only thing Iām worrying about is my AS grades as I have just started studying the content from zero with two months to go. Maths Phy Econ
Otherwise itās all smooth sailing, But my stupid lack of discipline (which Iāve rectified since Iāve gotten my priorities straight) is putting me at a disadvantage
@cedar hollow LSE UCL Oxford, and Theyāre non negotiable for me (just making it harder for myself lol)
Ah i see. It's good that you've sorted that out though
So you have 3 months ish until the Nov series
Well 2 months
Nov series starts in Oct
If it was Nov like it says I would be fine and dandy
š¤¦š»āāļø
oh right it starts early Oct
yeah im on same boat as you , im gonna retake AS this november and sit A2 next may june and hopefully enter uni in Fall of 2022
(or probably composite tbh)
but they just started on the AS syllabus which is the problem
unless you study day and night its not possible to pull that off
yeah
starting AS now and finishing by early october is a huge task
ur squeezing 6-8 months work into 2
Trust me i tried it , im even subscribed to this website that gives a level courses
i still cant make it
too much pressure
im probably gonna go composite
Yes I am also a self study candidate
I know I can get good grades
I know it for a fact
But itās full proofing myself for the worst possible scenario
i would suggest, see if your target universities can allow you to start in the winter of 2023
instead of fall 2022
i know universities in canada and the usa allow that
ah :/
If they I would be happy as hell again
ooof
A backup idea I thought of is taking the exam in a country where they do it later and apply later as well
i dont care about top tier unis tbh , i just wanna enter a medium-good tier uni
and im satisfied
@severe heart tell me competitive personality trait that lol
where is that lol they are all done together
YES this is what im doing
@cedar hollow but I have to skip next year entry
im going to take composite math this November
then focus on chem & bio for may june 2022
idts, you can still make it in the fall 2022 intake
I want to apply this year get in next year,
dude you apply in january anyway
yeah you can apply without your grades
oh
yeah thats what I thought
@severe heart private candidate, my predicted grades are my AS
rip
good note to take as a newly private candidate myself
bro you either lower ur standards a bit
or just go next year
yeah oxbridge deadlines are oct/nov [the 15th i think] so
or you somehow do entire AS in 2 months
its possible but its way too stressful and full of pressure
Yah, also@I heard turkey or Pakistan do feb series I heard it somewhere
I know I can do it, right now Iām on a regime
Literally fully focused and disciplined
@severe heart do u know anywhere that does?
yeah this year was an exception, more countries got to do f/m 2021
idk about next year
wouldnt recommend doing it in two months lol but tbf anything is possible if youre willing to commit
nope because i have studied the past 11 years in same school , which is also my center
I am doing a mock right before it to see where I am at th
so i never had to check anywhere else
That will decide if I continue or not
@severe heart thatās the thing, Iāve taken quite a couple
yikes dude what have u done in those gap years
Hence the conundrum
if ur an international applicant then gap years can reflect negatively, just take certain pieces of advice with a grain of salt
@severe heart head wasnāt straight, wanted to do different things didnāt work out
Based in London
ahh i respect that
Generally a bright student, have very good GCSEs
im taking gap year essentially to catch up and increase grades
But always wanted to be a sportsman
i think you gotta do what you gotta do, grind for AS if you really wanna get in fall 2022
o cool
thats cool i hope you get to integrate that into ur college life
Didnāt work out, found a new driven motive which is why I wanna get into uni nw
@cedar hollow yeah
yeah if u wanna go with ur plan , make a strict plan and go ahead with it
u dont have much time
yup plan in advance
@odd night without a doubt I will, Iām entering the football team rowing team any team there is lol
noice
i only want to enter uni bec unis are still a bit relevant
otherwise the work i wanna do is completely irrelevant to unis
hence why i hate studying A Levels
I personally donāt like the education system itself
yeah its terrible
Sub conscious reason for not being disciplined in it
But itās needed for what I wanna end up doing unfortunately
this is my 3rd attempt , if i dont get better grades i dont even care anymore i might even just drop out at that point
Yeah same
the certificate u get from uni is still important
thanks dude , much appreciated
Just want this A Levels off my back for once and for all
Thanks, I need to find out about countries who apply later than January and do exams later than October but still apply in the same year
@severe heart me too I really do Iām tired of it. Itās easy to do but only if youāre motivated about it
dont all A levels take place together at same time , like if its november session it all takes place in oct nov
yeah i have been slowly building up that movitation
Probably, but I do feel some countries do it at different times, or maybe they just apply at different times, canāt really remember
I know Australia does things differently as their term cycles are different
the application times probably differ place to place for sure , but not the actual exams themselves
thats why they say check the uni/place before u apply
cus it changes
Hmmm
Thatās probably it
Any countries do applications post May June for the same year entry ššš
I wish
Ngl military would give the both of us some really good discipline lol
well with the political situation in my country rn , i want to avoid anything related to military
there are some unis [i don't know the details of which ones] that do rolling applications
i.e. open year round afaik and accept on a rolling basis
though i'm not 100% sure
try checking US and canada for this
Will do, but financial funding go go there will be hard.
Also, is it true this year UCAS app deadline was September 2021???
yeah those are expensive
??
like for applications for fall 2022?
Not for fall 2021 itself
for next year right
no i dont think so [@ the ucas thing]
bc im applying ucas
and havent heard that anywhere
I just googled it
depends where you go
It said for UCAS 2021 deadline for 2021 entry in fall, 21 sept is a deadline
do u know a good region that does
nope
or state*
i dont know much abt canada applications in general
hm
but i know some places do i know a couple of friends' siblings have gone for that reason
as long as they exist i'll find em
cus the only real option is maybe like germany but for that i need to learn german
just looked it up
so its for 2021 applications
not 2022
i didnt know that but yeah i guess since its on the ucas website
I couldāve really used that right now
Like really
Is it bad to say Iām praying for another lockdown?
ššš
do you mean like you want 2022 apps to be extended?
lol true. the UK is .............. mm yeah
dude 80% of the population is vaccinated yet yall are on lockdown
or tight restrictions i guess
@odd night like in winter Iām still predicting cases soaring...
i genuinly believe lockdowns will come soon towards end of summer
But cases falling rapidly rn in London
did they fall before tho
Other nations however r being hit by it
cus usually it falls then it suddenly spikes and boom lockdown
probably going to peak again
they will. people, teachers, will come back from their vacations and people will start taking things lax and they will lol the human race is so stupid and predictable
But if people get vaxxed...
vaxx is clearly not working lol
And if the delta variant gets contained
Bruhh Iām so bad for saying this
not telling u where i live but trust me
lmao i wished that in 2019
And UCAS apps delayed as well
people are getting vaxxed here and it is not helping bc they think its a cure
and look what happened in 2020
im not wishing shit i want to go to uni in 2022 š
fr^
No I really deserve to not get the grades if it happens, I had two solid years, and two lockdowns to sort myself out
no
dont mind me , i havent checked uni apps that much
you should be applying now for uni in 2022
No fall 2022
hmm
@odd night yeah
by now you mean in january ?
Deadline January 2022
i mean
Itās open now to apply
bc like a level mocks and stuff is stressful in jan
so am i
like ik my math grades will be terrible i chocked so hard on those
Yeah so thatās 15th Jan, and you gotta apply ASAP after that, deadline is 29th Jan I think
if youre applying to US as well start asap you will thank yourself
and if youre applying oxbridge the deadline is in oct
or nov i forget
but thats the only one
Yeah oct 15
yeah
@quick zealot have you considered canada?
or have any of you considered canada, for that matter?
i have but havent checked unis yet
US + UK for me
ah okay
i kinda gave up after seeing fees for Medicine a year ago , but now that i changed my mind from medicine
if you need help lmk
i just went through the process XD
yep yep
are you ug in canada?
but i figure social sciences are much cheaper , no?
yep
oh awesome
it depends
but yes
thanks
like information technology?
yeah
thats not a social science i dont think
see IT could be comp sci
ik but i couodnt think of a good example
all i can tell you is the US is mad expensive and if you need aid u r fucked
cus im interested a bit into IT rn
Which then falls under different faculties
nope im not even considering US
like in UWaterloo, it comes under the faculty of mathematics
hm
but for UofT it comes under faculty of arts and science
do you know the approx requirements for like a good-mid tier uni in canada
and then tuition depends accordingly
depends what you consider good and mid-tier
@cedar hollow no uni interested in there for me, LSE, UCL and Oxford are my aspirations
so like for example
well i dont want something like top 1
USA wouldāve been it for me if I lived there, but Iām just gonna do student exchanges while in London Uni
in general yeah
but IT would be something similar i reckon
IT being comp sci/software engineering at Queens/Western
ranked 200-300 in the world hmm
ye
this year was ab absolute shit show for canadian unis lmao
the requirements
i hope they will lower requirements a bit and hopefully fees too to get more students
since all education is online now
they admitted too many people with lower grades early on, and then had to end up rejecting people with like all A*'s
otherwise i might just go for europe
yeah
Vaccines are working guys
yikesss
like McGill rejected someone with a 45/45 IB
my friend went to uni of utretch with like an E in math
Absolutely insane
or D was it
o lol
when the required like C's at least
@cedar hollow thatās... wow. I used to be in an IB school
Best form of edu imo
Currently
also canada is really far away from my home country so idk
ye
if it has such high requirements , a bit expensive , and far away is it really worth
ill tell you something tho
dont worry about the expensive part
you get tons of financial aid
im more worried about the requirements dude
ah
cus my parents always say dont think too much about the fee we will do smth about it
but the requirements
cus in all honesty i just wanna get into medium tier uni and be done with it
there's also york or carleton if you are interested
take a look maybe
those are third tier unis
Honestly a good bet is applying to a top uni for a not so wanted course
ahhh thanks thats rlly helpful tbh
You get the uni name, itās facilities, and less competition
Most important thing about uni is the alumni and people u network in
eeeeeeeeeeh, depends where. if you're talking abt a really top uni then they're competitive regardless of major
nah taht doesnt sound smart
hmmm
my view is mostly US skewed but i guarantee it will not work there
probably similar for the UK bc top unis can afford to reject you if you're not up to standard
bruh
Already doing a masters
uh
bruh how lul
Literally, heās still in there till today international application as wel
For sure
lmaooo
š
Never, your money that u earn is gonna be dirty
kudos to ur friend though
Nah he took someone elseās spot that probably deserved it
then they mustve applied like at least 6 years ago
Everything he does with his degree as an entry is officially tainted
there are rumors of teachers being bribed at my center/school lmao
bruh š„²
bec a guy who gets D-E in english for past 3 years somehow gets an A
just as it became evidence based
god i hate this year bc the grading curves are so fucked
it do be like that
wait hold up why does the bot care abt c/nt but not fucked lol
cambridge screwing us over in every way possible at this point
But yeah coming back to degree from top uni for not so wanted courses, u can find UCL requirements of B and C for courses
For example
They need to fill in their entry quotas u know
Itās competitive
dude whats so trash about unis is their goddamn websites
But you can get in with B and C
why cant i just open the website and see exactly what grades are needed
which they will also do with international students paying double price lol
Playing it right
capitalism
just slip in a 20 with your application ez
@odd night loool thatās really messed up, but I think the idea is nationals pay tax, so thatās already taken into account
Internationals havenāt, so they pay double
Something of that mindset Iād assume
true, but check the tuition differences some of them are insane
Weāve kinda given the double part in small installments throughout our growing up ears (our parents tbh lol)
that's cause it varies a lot
from year to year
also the reason ints needing aid get rejected so much
Yeah you could be paying 100k for a course
dude most of the time i cant even find its requirements
as compared to full tuition ints and nationals needing aid
which unis? UK? or otherwise
or its something to do about the education on theire own website not cambridge a levels
which is why I recommend canada
Type uni name and undergrad courses on google
no not UK
where then?
ohh okk
altho unis in new zealand were clean and easy to navitage
uk unis should have requirements on their admissions page. us unis dont have grade requirements. not sure abt canada
navigate*
same for canada ye
im looking at carleton rn , ehhhh
y whats wrong
yus
btw do ur research before you apply. abt the city, abt the uni, campus, etc, its definitely important
yeah for sure
i just wanna see the approx grades and what not
before i sit down and look into canada as a wohle
whole
just to get an idea
@severe heart you're home schooled yeah?
yes i left school after 11th grade
okay i take it back , that was incredibly fast , props to canada
lool
tho it doesnt rlly say what grades hm
ah okk
hold on
aight so considering this
@severe heart what courses u interested in
yeah i checked that list , it didnt make much sense
for now im checking out IT
Which country u wanna study in
not 100% sure in it , just getting an idea since i will probably go sometihng in that field
well canada and germany are top considerations rn
bec of their good aid
for students
but canada preferbly since its an english speaking country
here's toronto
for comparision
@severe heart
looking at this, carleton would be B's and C's yup
yeah okay carlteton is better
ye
i might get As who knows but even then i wanna make sure i have other options
nope toronto
ohhhh
mb
see co-op is like
a work-study program
so you study for 4 months (1 semester) and work for 4 months
like internship
oh thats straight up amazing
im gonna look more into the 2 unis u recommended , thanks a lot
my sis went to waterloo, i can help you with anything you need just ping
aye thats amazing, thanks a lot again
npp
Iām confused with applications, are there benefits of applying early as soon as they open? School counsellors saying this is my application year but I have nothing to show for it. My AS, Iām retaking Nov, a level predicted grades release jan for me. Unless there are different deadlines to submit grades?
The Canadian unis are open till like April so thatās not a problem but what should I do for those ending December for US (this is what my school counsellors are saying btw so it may be wrong)
for the US, early deadlines generally have higher rates of admission. and the benefit ig is knowing if you got in or not - so if you didn't get into some of your safety schools, then you might want to consider applying to more for regular decision. US deadlines generally close by nov for EA and jan for RA meaning you'll have to submit the AS grades you got. there isn't really another option
are you also applying UK?
also, are you talking early as in early decision or early admission?
Can I submit my predicted AS instead?
Early decision
you can only ED to one place though
if you have an AS grade im p sure you have to submit that
they ask for a transcript
and it'll be from your school
Also I had decent marks in mocks for the March series so can I show that as proof
Oh
Ok Iām getting it mixed up then
ED means you apply early, and if you get in, you're legally bound to go. you have to sign a contract and everything. if you get in, you can't choose to go anywhere else
i'd suggest doin some research on the US application process bc its very different to canada / UK
Yes
yeah okay i'm applying for that too so you should probably go for RA
the jan deadlines
are you only applying to the US?
oh okay no idea for that sorry
Yea dw, Ik a decent amount for Canada and eu just the us
im applying to the US so i can try help
Also November results release mid jan close to the deadline
id just suggest getting started ASAP bc its a shitload of stuff you need to do
Oh ok, appreciate the advice
for some places you might need to just submit the grades you currently have. since your school needs to submit a transcript you might not have any other options
Do you think itās possible if I mention my situation with the grades, theyād be flexible?
US unis are known to be shit
so honeslty, no
but i could be wrong
also depends which unis you're applying to
and the commonapp works very differently to UCAS
hello
does anyone know how many A levels does Hungary universities need?
ive searched on google but and uni websites but all i see is they need high school diploma
so is it true they dont need A levels?
which probably means 3 a levels minimum
since i believe thats what you need to officially graduate
so can i apply with only high school diploma and use A levels as a back up coz im gonna examine 2 a levels in oct/nov 2021
well like i first apply with high school diploma only
and if a no came i apply with a levels
as a back up
thats not how it works
oh
there are application deadlines and stuff
you cant just
reapply whenever you want
you should probably research the hungary application process first
because it isn't a british university
they don't cater to a level students specifically
oh ok then
Does anyone use studyme for finding unis? If yes, did u get any offers/interests from unis yet?
Are universities in Germany actually free for international students as google says ?
you can search up the university, go to their website, and check the tuition fees
You should check public universities
Not private
And the it is not free of cost
There is a certain amount you pay
For transport + student union
that's why i said check the websites specifically, you can't always trust the info that just shows up on the first page of google
Check up specific unis
Most public unis have no tuition fee but collect a sem fee for health/other expenses
Will having 2 a levels affect my application? (Aerospace engineering, A levels in math and physics, AS in chem and EGP)
There are few unis that require chem at a level, I have not done igcse chem and finding AS difficult, started A2 and itās worse. I screwed up as level cause I was really worried about chem and it affected other subjects
All UK unis ask for 3 a levels
I think all unis require at least 3 A Levels
Although a few of them require only 2 subjects
Such as for computer engineering
It should depend on the course shouldnāt it?
giving 2sub in Alevels??
Yes
For UK universities computer engineering you only need maths and physics
what about cs?
maths is compulsory no cap
Which unis
And some also recommend computer science
Alevel phyXD
Imperial college London is one
interesting
Kings college too
This one is a subject of choice
which uni?
Oh my bad
Imperial
not really, they specify only 2 names but the third can be anything
yea i mean 2 alevel sub its impossible
Ohhhhh
so they'll require you to take maths and phy for example
But does it also depend upon the UCAS points?
and the third can be anything with that grade
ohhh
nah not really
Suppose if we say the requirement is BCC
makes sense now
And instead of you get A*A
Then wonāt that be the same UCAS points?
So then we can still be eligible right?
Iām not sure tbh
Maybe check in UCAS for information
one of my friend said
Oh
but for US u can apply as many as u want
I thought there was no limits to the number of universities we can apply lol
for UK ig its there
Damm so there you can apply 100 universities itās still accepted??
yea ig
Ohhhhh
ohh 5 not 3
5
Just google the question š
but you can only apply to 4 med
yea, i mean its unfair isnt?
Lol but I wonder who on earth would apply for that many universities šš
ma badXD
Even I canāt do that
and you have to choose between ox and cambridge
no idea
you dont need a lot more than that really
true
Oxford is more for economics, history, etc
Cambridge more more science based
agree
Tbh Iām actually aiming for universities in Greater London
can u pin the message in ig bsc
So I wonāt have a lot of options for university admissions anyways
kinda
ping me there pls not here, and you can ping active mods there as well
enjoy paying your kidney
Is it that expensive???
yea its really really expensive
I though biomedical engineering is cheap to study in UK
biomedical XD
thats the uni name?
should be fine
Yea
further north you go the cheaper it gets
never heard before
unless youre in edi
interesting
its not a big place
i mean getting scholarship can help u @fleet vine
cuz london is in the south
not that many scholarships in the uk
Yea thatās why Iām aiming for applying for BMAT
max you get 2-3 k off for a level results tbh
y is that so?
didnt get it
the local students get student loans and they dont really give a crap about intls
most unis give like 1k per A* for example
1k pounds daamm
Will BMAT help for scholarships though?
no idea:(
not when base fee is generally 20k
you'll hgave to check, and i doubt it
XD jeeezz what is wrong with education systems
Actually the reason why I wanna aim for greater London is because my relatives live there and so I can easily commute to universities to study
for locals its 9k
its waayy less
If I go elsewhere in UK then the cost of living and housing becomes really expensive, as per what I have evaluated
Thatās why I canāt aim for outside greater London too
They pay tax
interesting
Ikr Iām left with very little choice if I study in UK lol
Makes sense, if you have living sorted
wb US?
Brb after lunch
Too expensive to study biomedical engineering compared to in UK
Although it can be a good choice for masters too
damm US is more expensive then UK?
I have compared the fees
its vv unfair for students
Ikr man
not all all
Yepp US is like 40k USD++
These tuition fees are gonna kill me.
The worst part is I donāt even know what the budget is ffs, Iāve asked so many times and I donāt get a clear answer. I hate being a pessimist but weāre looking at unis way above the budget which I think is around 20k usd and Im prolly gonna have to finance most of it
cant you get credit from the bank?
US is way more expensive
you can expect to pay at least 60k $$ per year as an international
you also have to pay like 20-100 $$ to apply, per uni
but you can apply to as many as you want
i'm applying to 17 in the US and 5 in the UK and the differences are wild
thats a lot
mind if I ask which?
So a loan? Yes thatās what I think will happen but Iām anxious about how it works and being in literally $100kish debt
Have you tried looking into unis in Germany/EU?
Yea Iāve looked at TU delft, but Yet to look at rest of EU, Iāve had talks with counsellors and they kinda disregarded the idea saying you need to know the national language? I did see this for a lot of unis in Germany
Also tuition is free in Germany?
Yh forsure, it blows my mind sometimes
Yeahh
Yeap
No there is a semester fee
Also consider that u have to learn the language for those unis
Unless somehow they offer an international degree programme for ur course that might change things up
sure - stanford, carnegie mellon, duke, brown, harvey mudd, rice, boston u, vanderbilt, reed, u rochester, brandeis, UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCI, and UCSC
ooooof
good luck
thanks :))
Any UK peeps able to help me out here? So this qualitfication for uni basically saying i need 3 A Level subjects with grades EED or better? Theres a whole bunch of other qualification but thats the one that applies to me i guess?
oh yeah fyi they make you select what country you are from and when i selected mine it only gave my national education stuff , not International A Levels so i just went with the UK to see A Level qualifications
yes i think so
that's generally how unis lay out their requirements
alright thank you š
no worries!
currently I am wanting to study abroad (I am a Vietnamese student) in Canada, but I don't know where to start when I started researching for schools in Canada. Can I get some tips?
what do specifically need help with?
in general, you can maybe start by researching your program, which universities offer them
I made an excel sheet about this to be organised, you can do the same if you wish
well, to be more precise, I am not sure about how to find the requirements in order to be accepted to study in a certain program (your school grade, english level, french level etc.)
ah okay
what programs are you looking at?
I am currently researching about the computer programming area
and there are some unis and colleges who has these programs available
o cool
yeah there are tons
usually university websites have information regarding admission requirements
i assume you are coming from a levels
well yeah
there will be no reason for me to know about ZNotes if it's not for the A Levels
yes
Can universities take grade averages for A-levels?
Hello to everyone, I'm Cassandra, 17 years old. I'm still in high school, grade 12, and will be finishing it in a year. I wanna move out to Australia, Melbourne for college/university and pursue Literature. I have no clue about the formalities (like things needed and stuff) for an international student to join. So if there is anyone who can help, pls help me out! Dm out any help possible! Thank you in advance!
what do you mean
a lot of information will just be on the 'admissions' / 'apply' page of the university itself so i would just suggest looking at the university websites and reading through them first
different universities will have different requirements as well
guys when do we have to apply on ucas if we just got our gcse results
what year are you planning to attend college
2023
so next year
or 2022
is that an option?
oh fr?
if you do enough a levels
how does that work
