Doing an internship in your subject can help,yes.However, make sure you don't just say:I did an internship.But rather, explain what you learned from that internship and what skills you got from it and how did it increase your motivation to study the subject and also how will the skills improved/gained support you in your chosen career.Writing a blog about a particular topic that you have read alot about and know pretty well can also help yeah but make sure to also explain how writing that blog helped increase your motivation and all the other things said above

You can read the chat on #ug-biology-and-medicine , there was a discussion on it a few days ago, mainly its Qatar and Turkey which offer scholarship for int med students, I personally know a uni in turkey which even offers 100% scholarship for medicine int students (Koc University), so if ur interested u can check that out.

and there are only 17 medical schools in Canada

so only 34 max international students get in per year

and scholarship is even more difficult

Tbh if you're an intl student afaik Manchester focuses more on the grades, extra/supercurriculars are more of a bonus

I know the physics dept has sky high reqs for grades but others don't really

So yeah I would suggest getting your grades as high as possible, and for ECs just try and expand on the ones you have as much as possible

Mention skills you learnt from it rather than just what you did

Nono if you're going for uni, then you're sponsored by the higher education institution (HEI). The HEI tells the home office whether or not your English qualification is enough. Now most unis take English IGCSE itself. You only need the general IELTS if the home office asks for it
