Nope most universities are test optional now
cause i got like 800 in maths but struggling with sat english section
Ahh same
yeah but people worldwide are making it a bit more challenging
i dont think they will accept you if you dont show up your sat's
If you get a good SAT score then send it but if you dont then dont send it
Nah Ik people who got in without SATs
Idk
Ik someone who got into harvard without submitting an SAT score so im sure its possible
i mean applying in ivy league without sat's is fine??
yeah ig
you gonna apply this sep?
Lol all my A*'s just converted to 4.0, so no difference for A vs A*
But I guess you could declare that A* is 4.3 and count it that way, if the uni has no rules for it
While US has SATs for high school, the rest of the world takes IGCSE 😂
I've committed to McGill University!
Nice!
Hahah yeah at least the SAT is optional now
Oh
why?
Coz in the website it says A*AA for engineering
Yeah
Hi guys
I want to apply to a university in canada or the usa?
Which one will best if i want a full ride
For cs
Can you be less vague~
why dont you look into computer engineering?
i just finished my A2 level exams
im more into cs sir 🙂
i have 3 subjects
physics chemistry and mathematics
i think an engineering degree has more opportunities than one in science
okay
and those subjects are fine for you to be admitted to any type of engineering field
if you'll be studying at a good place and have to leave your country, better to have a degree that has more opportunities to match the investment you're putting in
computer engineering
oh ok
but you can explore those options as well if you like them
i said computer engineering because you mentioned computer science
yeah
i mainly wanted to do cs
then maybe shiftto cyber sec or ai or information tech
just be sure to find a degree compatible with types of jobs you can work in as well
yeah thanks
so for computer science or information tech which uni will best
that has more flexible scholarships
a full ride would be best
Kinda scared for computer engineers ngl cuz the supply for computer engineering and different types of it is kind of increasing in Canada what if by the time yall graduate they alr have enough and the wages decrease due to less demand just sharing my overthinking thoughts im sorry ill go away now cjcnfnd
Sorry to say but
Full ride is not possible
Unless you have a Nobel peace prize
Which you likely don't so max scholership you will get if you have normal extracurricular's is about 4 thousand dollars
I assume you are an international applicant
Bursaries are available which are financial need based
So you would have to show your household income is less than an X amount
The maximum merit based scholership that I've seen is 180K cad dollars
And iirc that still wasnt a free ride
Usa will be harder if you want even a little financial aid imo
can i pm sir?
There are a few merit scholarships for canadian universities but they arent full ride.
okay thanks for the info
Hi. What A level grades would be considered competitive if I want to get into University of McMaster or Western University of Ontario computer science?
I mean what should I be targeting
Any help would be appreciated 😀
2 A stars out of 4
Or at least 1 out of 3
So typically A* A* A A
Yeah
Great. Thanks for the help

This is a IVY league decision simulator for Harvard college. click once anywhere. this is based on actual percentages of acceptances
But it may not be 100% accurate.
Try your luck haha
:D
pog
Is it hard to get accepted in canadians unis?
That's a veeerryy subjective question
It all depends on your grades and personal essays
I'm having A levels next year
and my grades aren't bad nor excellent (O levels and AS levels)
aiming for CS or Software engineering
do they need competitive grades
luking at the field, yes.
Most of the UNI's I searched for have a minimum requirement of grade C my grades fall between A and B.
Yes
For waterloo which is one of the top ranked unis for cs
You need coding experience
Good grades like many Astars
And you need a good AIF
Which is like the personal profile
You need coding experience otherwise you can't apply
There is a space where they ask you to lost your coding experience on the AIF
@cedar hollow
You would need at least 2A*'s
@cedar hollow coding wise I'm good I have a good experience with programming. Academically, not so sure my O levels were in 5 subjects with 2A* 1A 2B
However I'm not applying for waterloo, tuitions are above my budget boundaries
I was thinking university of Manitoba, Calgary, or memorial
Oh okay
You can apply for financial aid at Waterloo if you want
Otherwise Manitoba and Calgary are great as well
Also look into Alberta maybe
I've been thinking about getting financial aid but as I said I don't have excellent grades so not sure if I would be able to get it. Alberta is also expensive tbh
Oh
Aight
How about McMaster?
You can get bursaries
What type of experience do they expect for programming?
Also Which canadian universities give good scholarships to international students other than UBC and Utoronto?
It's usually there on the website
This
That info there on the website
Ottawa
I asked many people that question, But usually the answer is no experience needed. As long its really what you are passionate abt with basic info in computers and softwares.
That's strange cause Waterloo requires it
Ahh any others?
All do give scholership
Toronto and UBC are actually harder ones to get scholership
Imo
I mean what kind of university would ask you to have experience of something that you wanted to learn from the first place.
Makes no sense tbh
Hold on
@cedar hollow
Thats odd ngl, I barely see such requirements in many other unis
But if it is a really competitive uni then I guess its understandable, Looking for the really bright ones.
I mean
It's like taking bio in 12yh grade before going for biomedical sciences in uni
You have to take cs courses/IT courses in 12 th before going for comp sci
It's like requiring physics in 12th before going into astrophysics for uni
That makes sense but they are asking for experience and to be exact "strong performance", which you honestly don't expect from anyone wishing to study in such course.
If it is normal to ask for this experience you would see it as a common requirement but I rarely something like that.
WIll A level IT count?
Yeah javascript
Yeah then ig yes
Ah okay
is IT considered as a legit accepted subject in Canada? In most of Europe countries they do not really recognise it.
nah if its offered by Cambridge international then it is accepted
Not really no
Maybe in canada its diff
But this requirement is super odd
well I just sent an ss above
why?
They usually ask for high maths requirements
yes that is there + previous experience
And then general grades
but it should be a pre-req course right
Nope
Most unis dont ask for it
Ive seen a bunch of comp sci courses
Even waterloo didnt ask for comp sci
As a pre requisite
Side note: fuck waterloo
im not saying comp sci as a pre-req
im saying some kind of programming experience
you cant have comp sci as a pre requisite
why do you say that
The fees for international students
lol
It says strong performance in a course
that doesnt mean the uni is bad
Yeah nah thats really weird
if you didnt take any programming courses (IT, etc) what would you write here
ok but look at it this way
Unless its more specialized like data science
Cuz data structures and algorithms
Is uni level stuff
yeah so they directly teach you that uni level
But its a part of a2 computer science
they expect people they expect have some knowledge of coding
So wtf sorta experience u getting for 4 months?
Imo u shouldnt need experience in coding
To get into comp sci
Because of the fact that its mostly maths and physics driven
imo its a good pre-req to have cause it allows all students to be on a common ground/level when in first year
Not a base requirement
i just an ss...
Oh yea for sure
it says "required"
Comp sci
bruh

lmao aight then
Rip now it makes sense
ye
Software engineering is specialized
yep
hehehe no no i should have been more clear as well as to what i was talking about
i misunderstood as well

yee
ur right about comp sci
no coding experience required
just maths and english basically
like you said
Honestly I can't see what is the major difference between the two courses.
research
there is a difference
There is a difference but not a major one.
That is why you can work as a software engineer but with a CS degree.
I guess cs is more generalised. Software eng is only software oriented.
There is a difference
CS is like way more about fundamentals
Delving into how things work
Algorithms
Data structures
Why and how to make things efficient
Software engineering is more based around building software
^
Waterloo is expensive but they have coop so you can pay like 50% of your tuition with co op earnings lol
^^^^
That is if you get a job lulul
lol true
Agh why are unis so expensive? Who is funding for education so less ? We are trying to get a stable future ;-;
Most of the funding goes into research
Yeah true
Universities in Europe are a fraction of the ones in Canada
Look at Germany, Norway, Poland, etc
Medicine is expensive everywhere bro
Netherlands is better coz they teach in english
In the countries which you mentioned they only teach in the local language
Yes, yes ofc
Not in India lol. But that’s only if u get good marks in NEET
not everywhere, certain countries in Europe are really cheap
Italy, Georgia, ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria are some
hi
university asks for my AS result + Trial test for application
i score 3A* and A for AS
but i completely messed up trial exam for A2
does it affect my conditional offer?
does trial exam grades matter a lot?
Oh hmm
It may affect your chances of getting the conditional offer in the first place yeah
Hello everyone
My As level grades were 3A and my A2 level predicted grades are 2A* 1A or 3A*
Please suggest unis that offer aid for CS,IT or engineering
Mainly in Canada or the USA
TIA
Waterloo
How much aid am i likely to get?
Dont they require past coding or programming knowledge?
only for Software engineering
no idea
you would have to apply
base is 3000 so that you would get for sure
Sorry?
3000 dollar entrance scholarship
oh kay cool
@cedar hollow can i dm you?
yes
pog
I really want to get into NYU or any other good, but somewhat less costly uni, and this is my As and A level combo: Business, Economics, GPR, English, Art
Is there a chance I can get in? Also, which course/s would be best?
Yes it depends on what course you want to di
What do you wish to do ?
I want to do something around business and the economy
but also maintain Art as my primary hobby, while excelling in the same
idk your grades so I couldn't say if you would get in
you can minor in art perhaps
others have a double degree as well
arts + business is quite a common combination
oh ok..
Yep i am
Hey!
yea i am as well :)
Does anybody know any good music universities or conservatories at united states?
Yes hi
Good? Probably quite a number esp city schools
Famous? Julliard and berklee
@cedar hollow My brother went there last year, for that exact course and move to manchester this year, the workload is huge, you have to study everyday until at least 1am. It's only really fun if you have good friends there, if you really enjoy the course + The Netherlands is beautiful
Is anyone applying to SCAD, Pratt, Digipen or RISD?
Is anyone applying for Imperial but is a UK resident who resides outside the UK?
...how is that a UK resident... if you dont reside in the UK
wait i meant citizenship
cause i can get uk home fees while living aboard, but imperial is a type of uni where they have certain criteria for home fees.
For all UK unis you have to have 2 years I think of residence directly before you apply to be eligible for home fees
@tranquil summit are the 2 years considered during your first 2 years of study?
Nop
no it's cause we still technically live in the uk - my situation is weird tbh
If you're paying tax and stuff then you will be eligible
And you have a residential address
yea we have a place in the uk and still pay tax
so you should get home fees
yea ik but Imperial have given issues to people who don’t physically live in the UK, which is why i asked haha
It's not based on imperials knowledge all unis refer to this site called the ukisca or something and they have a few conditions to be met to be a UK student
I'm and Indian with a UK passport and they have considered me as a home student
ight thanks a lot Mushu and venom :)
No worries
Guys What are the average deadlines for applying into medical unis in UK?
If ur applying for 2022 intake then it would be this year Oct 15th
@tiny lagoon For medical and veterinary courses or if ur applying to Oxford or Cambridge the deadline in Oct 15th but if ur apyong for any other course or uni the deadline is Jan 15th
ppl who r going to be finished with a levels this mj session are considered for 2021 intake right?
yeah
i see, so for them deadline is already over i suppose
yup
and do the session start in october?
Well u can apply for 2022 s intake
Yeah
But then I would be having a gap year
It depends actually some unis start at Jan some at Sept some in oct
oh
Yeah something like that ig but idk I've heard some medical unis start in jan
I suggest u go and look at uni websites to see
And the thing is that, Im almost free after a month cuz our school is going for predicted
But as of apyong u missed the deadline for this year unfortunately
I will be applying to other unis but as a backup i wanted to apply and see the deadlines in uk
you can still apply to the UK i think. https://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/student-advice/applying-to-uni/what-to-do-if-you-miss-ucas-deadline
Ig u can apply thru a private agency
i see, ill go through it
Oh and this maybe works too idk but usually the deadline is Oct 15
Ur also required for an entrance test i suppose?
yeah but they accept late applications too until june 30th
depends on the university ig
Yes definitely for Cambridge and Oxford
I heard imperial takes entrance tests
U applied to the UK?
Hey is anyone applying to or have applied to any uni in Switzerland?
I almost did but for masters
Wassup?
Oh okay which uni
And y didn't u go? If u don't mind me asking
UNIGE and ETH
It was expensive af to live there
Could u type in the full form if possible 😂
University of Geneva and ETH, Zurich
Oh ok
No because they were international masters
But for bachelors I heard you had to have a german/french lang qual
- pass their entrance
German/French cuz different parts of Switzreland has different lang majorities
Yeah I'm trying to apply to this international business degree so I don't really need to write German but I wanted to know more abt how to apply to this particular uni
I'm applying to Lucerne University of applied sciences
If anyone else is applying there pls dm
Anytime man
not a university question more towards just post high school, anyone here studying in Singapore for post secondary education (both poly and/or jc) has any information on application, eligibility, requirements, etc. ?
ill be taking IGs in the upcoming may/june timeframe
ive managed to find plenty of info for poly entry but jcs seem to be lacking in that sector so any singapore jc info would be much appreciated
my DMs are open so do drop me a msg if u happen to have any info, much thanks in advance !!
What’s poly entry?
I’ll be studying in Singapore this fall
polytechnic
is it possible to skip the first year at university by doing the 1st and 2nd year course together
is it allowed
depends from uni to uni
not sure if its allowed
you can try emailing them
which Uni are you talking about
what about yours at mcgill
You might get A level credit so it could be possible
oh
yeah
thats what they did for me
my degree is usually 4 years but because of my A levels, they allowed me to do it in 3 years
like basically I enter second year
that is good to hear
ye
Oh is that possible for engineering as well?
I think you have to still do one semester of pre-req courses
But this is McGill specific I'm talking about
You would have to email other unis to know more
But I woild suppose it's the same
Im talking about mcgill only for engineering
see mcgill has a different system sorta
like there are 4 years called:
U0, U1, U2, and U3
Oh okay
so U0 is like a freshman pre-req year
and at the end of U0, you declare your major going into U1
Oh okay
in u0 you do faculty pre-req
yeah so for faculty of engineering they are a bit less lenient giving credits from A levels
yeah it depends
Ah
from faculty to faculty
What faculty are you in?
Science
Ah okay
so my friend is gonna do bioengineering
and he has to take 1 semester of U0
despite doing A levels
no
What A levels did he take?
see to complete your degree you have to complete a suffienct amount of credits
Yeah
so A levels/IB give you some of those credits
Yeah
so you complete is a less amt of time
Ah
so not bio
In the website
it says max 26 credits
so if I do math physics chem further math can I get all those 26 credits?
but if you go into science then yeah
you would get 30 credits
for science there's a total of 120 credits to complete for your degree
have you taken CS in AS and A?
Nope but IT
ah ok
it has some programming
Ah how abt CS + math ?
yeah that also works
Ah okay
a minor in math ye
what are the admission requirements? I didnt take bio in IG thats why
if you are going into CS then you dont need bio
Yeah
Heyis anyone applying for UK unis specifically for accounting and finance or business or economics
hi looking to apply to unis in december, but quite stuck on a couple of courses. wanted to know more about this from people who might have done or are currently doing these courses. They revolve around Economics at LSE and UCL.
Hey wanna dm?
hey. yes!
anybody can help me out please?
I mean I applied to Birmingham
Bath is a lit city
Yall think I got a chance for UCL in london
I got my igcses in like 7 days
Or less
And i havent started
Anything
😂😂😂😂😂😂
i applied to warwick and took a campus tour pre covid
so perhaps i could be of help
then start lol
Yeah
Oh definitely no then
for those of y'all in undergrad or have graduated, how did your note taking strategies change from highschool to uni?
or did you use the same style of taking notes
YESS SOOO
I never took notes in school during class but I often took them later while revising and so on
And they had no set structure but were based off the marking scheme very much and the textbook
But in uni I started making notes during the lecture, this was motivated by the fact that courses don't follow a set book but rather flow off the whims of the lecturer
I used the Cornell method
Subheadings in the right hand side and points/ideas in the RHS
I would scribble down like 5 questions post lecture as well
Then I'd go home, review the notes + answer the questions
If there were any derivations/questions that we solved in class I'd go over them as well
So this is one chunk in my head since it corresponds to one lecture
I'd repeat this chunk the following weekend, the 2 weeks later and so on
So that it sticks
Then yk finals prep becomes ez
Does anyone know about howard university
yes
No I'm not
So you just practice a lot ?
Yo weird question but does anyone know the AS level requirements for canda in medicine???
the universal requirement for medicine is usually chem, bio and either math or physics. Not sure if Canada has special requirements though
Can someone tell is it really true that you need three A grade A level to apply on universities in England?
Yes for most
But it can vary
UK is quite competitive
U should look around tho
I thought it was only for medicine
It can differ
Thank you
Or you get an unconditional offer
They don't really do unconditional for intls
EU student-
They usually only give unconditional offers if u ve written ur a levls or equivalent exams
@mellow venture
Uh yes?
@strong mesa
Wha
Wdym
I paid like after
Also talk on chat
In school we were asked to pay after pre mocks
And got statement of entries during mocks
Nw
MEEE
ME
im planning to finish my ig's then go for a levels. then take a general engineering before going for aerospace engineering
but like whats the diff with aeronautical and aerospace lol isnt it the same?
has anyone applied for german universities using their A levels ?
sad
Hey can someone plz advice me which university should I go for? Georgia Institute of Technology or University of Edinburgh/Manchester for the major, Electrical Engineering?
N is there any spring term for university of Edinburgh/Manchester?
And is there a possibility that university of Edinburgh will admit me on behalf/basis of my Mathematics and Further Mathematics exams bcz I wasn’t able to appear for my Physics and Chemistry exams so I would probably have to appear for them later (October/November)
U can give ur predicted iirc
^
ayyy a fellow GT admit
GT would be better for EE imo
Oh you are going to GT too!? That’s great
I probably be joining GT from the Spring term tho bcz I wasn’t able to appear for some exams in May/June
idk if im going yet, im choosing between that and another uni
hopefully ill see you there though!
Is anyone here from Sri Lanka?
Research a bit
Just type this into Google and you will get your ans
But first step is knowing which program you want to apply to
ripilicious being the google machine
Who’s applying for med school ?
me
@obtuse oxide
Guys can I get some exam sitting advise? im a private canddiate, supposed to take my AS this summer, but it got cancelled because of COVID in London, and i'm expected to take it in Oct/Nov, in case a similar situation occurs, what's the best way for me to get predicted grades?
i believe you gotta sit for SAT
what kind of university should i go to if i want to do business or managment
Depends on which country you want to go to and what grades you get
hey @tranquil summit i had a quick question for you since you are in uni rn, how did you send your A level final transcripts to your university?
@cedar hollow sorry for ping, but which uni will you be applying in??
I'm going to McGill University
I need to send them my results tho cause it was a condition offer @feral scaffold
especially for international students yes
I applied only to the UK and UCAS had access to my grades and unis automatically had them :/
But you can maybe get your school principal to print and sign/ stamp the grades as proof? I used that for my visa application
alrighty thanks
hlo again does anyone use ipad's for university note taking here? If so do you guys recommend it?
I am interested in buying one
(Only tiktokers)
lmao facts
no a lot of real people use ipads here in the UK and US
tiktokers are also real peop-
I’m still in school but yeah I use it a lot especially for bio and chem notes, really helpful and much much more efficient to have all your notes stored in one place
I also might get one when I go to uni tbh but not too sure
Btw gl for uni ripilicious
anyone here planning to go to canada for uni?
K thanks
Yessir
any good unis that you've found or applied to
Depends on your definition of good lul
I applied to uoft, UBC, McGill, McMaster, Waterloo, western, and Ottawa
And I choose McGill
@cedar hollow you did SAT?
Yes but it I didn't submit it anywhere
A waste of money
Cause for the Fall 2021 application cycle it was not necessary to submit the SAT
same this year lucky we
yeah
oh so you chose england
what?
oh they accepted that
yea
Do you know which universities have scholarships for intl students other than UBC and Uoft?
McGill has one but it's very difficult to get
Waterloo has one as well
I know a intl guy who got a 180k scholarship from UBC
Madness
How much does u of t normally offer in terms of monetary value of scholarships?
95+ averages get you the 3k entrance scholarship
Rest all you have to apply to
30,000-50,000 I think usually
If you do end up getting one
Rip me I'm not even close to a 90 let alone a 95 😢
Oh okay nice
Lul same I didn't get one either
Rip
Hopefully you've got some other scholarships tho
Yeah I got 7K one from McGill
Huhhh
Do you know which one?
hold on lemme see if I can find which one
- UBC's International Entrance Scholarship
Ah okay
- BCOMM entrance scholarship
Damn he got all of those?
Dang
those are possible ig coz its entrance
they have this international scholars one as well
where you have to send a extra application or something
Yeah I am lol
among others ofc
Ah okay so he mentioned these mainly
Does UBC require you to list your ECs or something?
yes
its a un sponsored event lmao
still
not directly related to the UN right
would hosting a tedx event count as something good?
Im hosting one at my school
Probably yeah! If you're doing all the managing and liaising
pretty sure that relates to the UN yes, if the UN decided to sponsor it lul
yes why not
Yeah im organizing it with another person
then put how many ppl attended it as well
pay people to attend
its fine to get in you don't need extraordinary EC's
So they care more abt grades?
well its a mix of both 60% grades, 40% EC's
and its more than that too
there's also personal statements
yes list and a short description
yes
and mention the stuff I did
you can
When do applications open?
Oct
nope
nice
just final exam results yeah
ah okay
How hard is it to get the international scholars award?
Yeah
Which university/ies are best in karachi and also releifing in matter of Cambridge students
My college is asking to find it and they will apply for me there
I heard that AKU and DOW are really good for medicine
Uoft, McGill and UBC are ranked top in Canada
Do u know which is the best for surgery 😪
ripilicious more like zinot canada application agent
Well
For medical in Canada you first do undergrad then apply to med school
But in terms of med school, toronto is the best
In Canada
well tyyyyy will search in it ✨
ohhhh
ubc meaning
that is greattt
.
University of British Columbia
The University of British Columbia is a global centre for research and teaching, consistently ranked among the top 20 public universities in the world.
Then uoft
so which is the most affordable out of the major unis
uni of toronto right??
yes
okay
but which is the most affordable
as uni of torronto is 50 k cad
and that is alit
alot
None are really affordable
If you want affordable
Then look at Queen's or Western
They are sorta have sorta less tuition I think
Actually UBC is also less than uoft
but there are bursaries available which are financial based
McGill is the most expensive cause of Quebec's stupid laws lol
see man i am mostly gonna stick to aroudn 16 k cad
so anything along those lines among the top dogs
well
that's gonna be difficult
16K per year is not even for domestic students, including housing, food, etc
International is gonna be bound to be higher
end to end- most degrees for domestic students is about 90,000-100,000 cad for all 4 years
international much higher
At UofT a bachelors of arts and science for this year i think is like 60000 for internationals
expect 200K at the low end
living+tuition+everything
^^^
yeah but thats not including living, etc
right
and that's if you go full slum lifestyle iirc
at least back when i did this math before i joined uni
ye ye ik it doesnt include living and what not
yeah
its unimaginable for int students the costs
^^^
might I suggest, doing bachelors in your home country and coming to canada for masters
True dat
depending on your home country ofc
i am talking per year fee
also
why is international fees so high when compared to local fees
They wanna make monieeees and raise the GDP and what not of the country
aight then per year 55K-60K
see ill tell you one reason why
canadian citizens have paid taxes to the govt every year
and in turn, the govt uses this money to fund the university
but international students haven't paid any taxes in canada, so they have to pay a lot more for university
its not 2000
its 8000
but still
its much less that int cause of the reason i said above
nothing compared to 55 k
yessir you are right
but did you get my explanation?
that's one of the reasons
I mean its not only canada that offers education for such high prices tbh
exactly
all countries have higher tuition rates for int students
why?
cause they haven't paid the taxes in that country
and so, technically each citizen has paid for the university with their taxes while int students have not
^^
Go UK its cheaper tbh
But its still expensive
55k per annum ☠️
how much cheeper
UK unis are normally in the 30k pounds range
hold up
which is still 50K CAD hehe
USA is even more expensive
oh i didnt even realise it was 50k cad lmao
lul
but yeah its all expensive
Yus
Speaking about canada how likely is it to get scholarships over there?
ik UK doesnt offer any pretty much
Mostly ppl get an entrance scholarship of 3-4K
The major ones are quite difficult to get
yeah so not lots of money really
but ig i might have a chance so ill apply anyway
Very competitive
Yes for sure applying never hurts ye
true dat
Upto 25k for any of the "normal" unis (excluding anything in London and Oxbridge)
Is there any recommendations for university in Australia?
@golden vapor ^
Well yeah true
Any other recommendation?
University of Melbourne is good if you want science
Monash University is better on the more tech and commerce
Then there's University of Sydney and University of Western Australia
Theres this as well
University of New South Wales is good too but grade requirements are pretty high
Hello everyone
I am new here
I am an igcse student from India
Currently studying in grade 10
Anyone from UBC vancouer here? @everyone
Hello everyone, my first time here too!!
I'm also a IGCSE student, based off from India, and am looking forward to doing a cs major
I was hoping for some advice from alumni as to how I should go about college listing, profile development, etc. as I'm looking at Universities more or less on the west coast in the US
caltech
don't think there's any alumni here
but for top-teir cs universties in the US, look into hackathons and stuff
ik some ppl if you have some questions, you can ask
Who should i ask

lol
caltech doesn't have the best cs program as a pure science
I mean, my IGCSE average is 92%, and based off GPA alone I thought schools like Carnegie Melon, UCs, Cornell and stanford would be difficult but not entirely impossible
Does IGCSE scores matter for uni
Even if it does, does it matter more than a levels
no A levels I think way more important than IGCSE
but IGCSE do help in uni I guess
ask the proffesional @cedar hollow sir
no idea wait for ripilicious I think he may help u
Will u be doing a levels?
I believe uk unis prefer A levels more than other qualifications
However, you MUST meet GCSE requirements
Otherwise some unis may not accept u even if you have absolutely amazing A level grades
@elder panther
No one at unis cares as long as you have above a C
Ooo cool then
What is the application process for the university of Cambridge and what competitive exams do u need to appear for to get into it
The UCAS deadline for Oxbridge applications is Oct 15
Our admissions tests allow you to show your potential to succeed on higher education courses. Find out about our tests here.
These have the tests for both Cambridge and oxford
Ooo thank you
Nws
igcse's are useless for uni admissions
Man 😭😭 pls I have been working so hard for IGCSE and ur telling now these are useless , I am going to kms 😂😂😫
Loool well like Karthik said just get a C or above
And ig they are like a stepping stone to A levels
Hehe yes do your best no matter what it is
Yessir 😂✨
not really
IGCSE scores do matter for other parts of the world
especially around other asian and north-american UNIs
well, for starters, it contributes to a high GPA and demonstrates consistency
so yes in the UK and some european universities maybe
but can't say the same for everywhere else
matters in asian unis defo, but not that much in north american unis at least in my experience
like ofc you have to do fairly well
but you dont need to ace your IGs, and acing your IGs alone means nothing compared to good AS/A2 scores and other exams
of course!
standardised test-results and, in my case, ib grade 11 results will matter a whole lot more
Hello
I had a query
Is there any indian who has applied to Canada and got accepted
If you are a science student especially pls tell me

@cedar hollow
which uni you targetting?
?
which aspect of the science program in UBC are you going for
Most probably anything related to bio @quaint island
there's a common first year in the faculty of science at ubc so you would have some time to decide your actual program of study
study at UC berkeley
for any STEM-related programs
I am from asia but I am still giving gce o levels from cambridge
not igcse
lmaoo
@raw belfry heya could you change your nickname to something with normal characters please?
