Afaik there are universities in Egypt and probably other few countries as well where yes, you will get admitted only with an IGCSE diploma in degrees in certain domains.
There are quite a few universities that will admit you with only 2 A Levels though.

However if you want to go to uni as fast as possible it is likely that going for a foundation year is your best choice. Your other choice would be fast-tracking your AS and A level exams by studying this summer and taking most if not all of your AS levels in Oct/Nov 2023 and Feb/Mar 24 and your A levels in May/June 2024

hi, i have a question. im new here so idk if its the right place to ask this, as its abt uni, im asking it here. also please reply to this text so i get pinged.

so i have applied to this uni in canada. and they have given me offer letter which mentioned only to submit my highschool graduate certificate. so my teacher and friends are saying its an unconditional admission as they didnt specifically ask me for my A2 grades. (i have applied to uni using my AS grades and Predicted A2 grades made by my school teachers, sent them my highschool transcripts from grade 9-11 midterms and finals , and i met their entrance requirements). i also received my letter of acceptance (its used to apply for student visa). on my letter of acceptance its said that after receiving the transcripts through courier (i am supposed to mail them), if they find that the transcripts lack compatibility they will reevaluate my admission, and i must meet their mandatory entrance requirements.
i have emailed them asking what the mandatory entrance requirements are, and what happens in case i do not meet them. they replied me saying, you need to send us proof of ur highschool diploma and if i dont i will be admitted to their university's highschool graduate program in order to graduate first.

im going to give my A2 soon, and i get my results back on 10th august. but they told me to courier them by 31st july. i also told them that my A2 results come out on august, and i wont be able to send it within deadline. they simply told me to send them the graduate certificate. does this mean my A2 grades won't affect my admission to the uni and highschool graduate certificate will be enough?

You should probably inform their enrolment advisor about your current situation (results) and they’ll probably find a way out! If you’re a bright student with good results and performance, they for sure won’t give up on you!

Yes, you have been admitted pretty much unconditionally. They have understood from your transcript of grades and exam diplomas that you sent that your knowledge is enough in what your uni requires, psychology I would assume.
They want your high school graduation diploma because they need that to be able to finish the paperwork regarding your admission. They need a certification that you have passed high school. Unless your grades in grade 12 are outstandingly bad in contrast with grades from 9-11, and I mean close to failing bad, you are overthinking it.

Where are you from and where do you want to go to uni at? If you are from the EU and want to go to uni in the EU for example it’s quite easy. Don’t worry about it too much rn, you can start researching in the Autumn of your last school year and still be quite early for some applications. Just know if the domain you want to go for requires any particular subjects at A Level.

Yes. My top 3 choices are (all on comp. sci.) Maastricht Uni, Radboud Uni both in the NL and Trinity College Dublin.

So far Maastricht Uni has unconditionally accepted me

I had taken 2 A levels in October/Nov to balance Romanian official Baccalaureate before the summer began (the Romanian baccalaureate is the final exam for students in the Romanian educational system).

Maastricht said something along the lines: we have seen from the documents you sent us that you have sufficient knowledge in mathematics. You are accepted. Post us the Romanian baccalaureate equivalent so we can officially enrol you.

I had very good grades for mathematics in my grade transcript, an A* in igcse and a B in AS Level and I am not taking mathematics for A Level.

If I did not have the Romanian baccalaureate equivalent they would have required the final GCE diploma but it would have probably been an unrestricted admission still.

suppose my uni requires me to have 3 subs in A2, or 4 in AS. i had 3 in AS and 3 in A2 which is why they needed an additional document from school issuing that i will be sitting for 3 subs in A2 as well. hence meeting their no. of subs requirement for entrance

No. At the end of grade 11 I just said screw it I’m not going for computer science anymore I’ll go for business and I’m not going to bother with maths anymore. And when applying to unis I changed my mind once again and said screw it I don’t want to do business, I’ll apply for comp sci. If they admit me, good. If not, I’ll still be able to take comp sci in Romanian universities so I got nothing to lose

I just checked, on Maastricht’s website they say they require maths at an A level for computer science.

Just to put things into perspective for you I did not even bother to check if they needed an A level in maths before applying

When applying my mentality was that I for sure am not dumber than the dumbest person who will get into this course, arrogance you could say.

There is also another university, a lower level one truth be told, saxion university of applied sciences from the nl.

They require a level maths for computer science, yet I received an admission letter from them this morning.

@scenic shell As far as I understand, the A level in psychology contains a lot of information that will be taught again in the first year of the bachelor in psychology. That is probably why the university does not need your A level grade in psych, because you do not need the knowledge from Al psych necessarily. I even think that many students will come to bachelor level psychology without any psychology knowledge if their educational system does not allow them to take psych as a final examination
