Also are you AS level or A2
If ur uni doesnt accept it do so
A2 now
Can someone Please help me find a English based program in clinical psychology/Neuropsychology in Austria/Germany at a public university?
so you will give exams at 2023 june
coz if thats the case then fear not
coz no one in my school has chosen his uni too
it is literally a nightmare tbh
Go through all german public uni websites
yee
Send the link
No go search
There are hundreds of universities out there. How can I like go through each and everyone of it?
First make like general search to see which unis offer courses in eng lang, then see if they offer your field of interest...
You're not going to get anywhere if you fail to do basic research
Brother pls can u find me comp sci course bachelors
bro it's too hard 😔
using google vary much difficulty
Go on gogle
😱
Blaady bastard

i didnt even choose a major
Then choose one
u dont here, they give u a set of majors in a set no. of unis and u fight others for the program u want
smh Olympics
anyways u need to choore more than one major to inc ur chances
Which country is this
oman
make a table on word or exel with the list of unis which have the course you want and add to that other details like the requirements and fees
^ i made an excel list at first then i also made a quick word doc with extra links and pics and infos for unis im more interested in , better to do in word to put useful links and stuff
Yes
Look at the uni u wanna apply to
See the requirements
Do that
Theres no exact metric on what a university prefers
Except better grades

predicted in most cases
because many of the deadlines have passed by the time your A2 results come

@tranquil summit Hope you're doing well. I've got a question regarding UoM and My Manchester. I've got the whole username and password but fsr I can't "finish" registration And there's nothing on the To do list. For now I've sent an email to the UoM guys for more info. Sooo any insight that you could ?
Give*
Heyy, I don't completely remember what I did, I can dig up the emails I had after I eat if you want
DM me
Oh wait yeah you're like a third year or something
Yeah lol
But yeah I'm still confused, I have the account, but I don't have the account and I have the University ID but I don't Have the University ID
BUT I'd like to ask, when DID you get the university ID?
Like physically?
No like online
The steps told me that I'd see it on the student centre located in Tools on My Manchester
But it's empty🗿
Currently outside will send the deets along with emails when I get back
hi guys, anyone looking into or going to new york university Abu Dhabi? pls message me. its a lil urgent.
Guys anyone who lives inside Germany or is planning to move over there??
Why
can anyone explain me how can i get scholarships for studying abroad
im looking for uni there atm
u know german language ?
no
ok so are there any free english unis
where i can get a comp sci bachelors
All public uni r for free
Not all majors r in English tho
I think u can get 1 german year, after that you’ll study the major u want
which uni
i cant study in german
i can easily learn how to speak german in like 6 months for local conversation but studying would be imposible
search on google ion know
would canadian universities care about A level further mathematics? Im not quite sure what transfer credits area but does this mean that the extra knowledge delivered by this subjects is not taken into account by the admission officers?
waterloo btw^
I'm looking to study in England. Any good unis in /close to Sheffield?
there's
the University of Sheffiled
University of York
....
what u hoping to apply for...
Do we take any offer if were an IGCSE student and planning to study in UK?
are u planning on applying with only IGCSE or planning to do A-levels as well
i took AS and now A2
I don't quite understand your question can you rephrase it again
will there be any financial offer if were an IGCSE student
you mean any scholarships or bursaries
??
for international students??
can you tell me what you mean by financial offer?
umm maybe like less tuition fees than those who r not an IGCSE student
international students in England pay x4 the amount of tuition fees than home students
you would be certainly paying more tuition fees than home students
nope
they don't care
they assess your finance based on your fee status not based on what you got in IGCSE
Improving my chances of getting in Waterloo/UBC
I'm 1.5 years away from graduating as an international student and have settled on studying in Canada. I'm looking to double major in Computer Science and Statistics and if possible take a minor in Finance/business related subject. Now what I have to offer doesn't seem sufficient to be honest due to the lack of extracurriculars. My question is what can I do to improve the chances of me getting in?
Grades: (Math -> CIE, Rest -> Edexcel)
A2: Math, Further Mathematics (do they even care about it?), Chemistry, Physics and Arabic (Projected for A* in all of them)
Extracurriculars:
4th degree blackbelt in Taekwondo
250 hours of community service (100 in a summer camp and 150 in teaching kids Taekwondo)
Looking to do a project which deals and relies on statistics (not performed)
UBC will be easy
Further math doesnt matter for admission but ull get credits
nop further maths doesnt have transfer credits
no problem with my amount of extracurriculars?
and what about waterloo?>
oh then no point in doing it
u can drop if u want
ye its enough
but for waterloo u need cs related stuff
but wouldnt it be good for the interview to say that i self studied such and such
so no shot currently until i do smth related to CS?
i was thinking of taking A level CS but it has no transfer credits too
yes that would count
as something CS related
maybe do some projects or an internship
internships are not available but what would i do for a project
i have 0 experience with coding and programming im looking to learn python in the next 2 years
since i will only have 2-3 A levels
@hearty robin I'm planning on doing psychology
not necesarily
man be good at maths
and get good grades at cs too
further maths will be useless tho
that's fine tbh
coz all unis start from scratch
although some experience will only help you when you start
You have more extracurriculars than me to be honest
I have none lmao
hmm wouldnt it be a good piece if i get into an interview? Like from example i can waffle my way about how it challenged me and taught me to strive for the things i want etc etc
yk bs my way through it
but i actually want to learn some programming what would you recommend? Taking A level computer science or solely focusing on a programming language like python or a mixture of both/
i dont get why extra curriculars are important tbh
See brother in Europe and North America the the schools actually have a priority on giving extracurriculars even if their education is subpar
This encourages their students to be brave and bold Panthers able to speak up in stressful conditions an in front of a big crowd
EXACTLY they have to realize that not all countries offer 60 things that are accessible
This basically ensures that if they were ever big to become famous then they should not be able to stress out if they ever need to give out a speech or come out in public
Yeah I know that's where the problem comes
extracurriculars offered here are not much compared to ones offered by singapore for example or other countries ;-;
In my school we have no extracurriculars at all
We used to have like two to three extra curriculars but that was only during the non code time an that literally means we have not had an extra curricular activities since the last three years
And I can't just go to university and say oh look I did something great in grade 5
Because they would not care what I did when I was a 10 year old
They would literally require something which is done in like the past like 1 to 3 years and I have nothing in that
istg fighting a losing battle
Where are you to be honest right now
Also bro extracurriculars are just like a plus they aren't like a requirement to be honest
yep
Jordan
yeah but tbh i cant really compete to a singaporean or chinese where the offered education is 60 times better and offer harder courses so extra curriculars are kinda needed
they also have math competitions and other stuff there
See bro if school is just like at least above the middle middle of the pack in your own country then you should be good with foreign universities
Because above the middle of the pack the education is basically decent enough that you wouldn't be like a complete stranger
I wish the Euclidean math competition is offered here
what the hell is that man
Anyhow my point is that don't stress out over extracurriculars
yeah but Waterloo is kinda the top uni in canada and i would expect top tier students would apply there
ight tysm
Just get excellent grades and then use these as the basis to get your admission in Waterloo
.
To be honest most top tier students usually don't have enough finances to apply to Waterloo
yeah was thinking of taking a loan
Like in my whole school there would only be like three to four boys out of the full 24 student class who can even afford the top end universities
Yeah that's the only way you can get inside that university because the fees are actually really high
stupid high*
Because the problem with the undergrads is that you don't get major scholarships
To be honest this is actually a major plus for you becausr since most of the people won't be applying to this university just because of that massive fees you'll actually have less international applicants to worry about
while canadians pay 1/5th of the price
anyways i still have 2 years to plan if i can even get a loan and if it will pay out
good luck bro i think with good grades in just maths you will be fien for waterloo
also you are doing cs
so dont choke that
and you will be fine
yeah defo gonna start doing CS
XD
tysm bro gl with everything
Also since I'm also going into computer science I can help you with one thing is that you should not focus a lot on programming
i took ICT in igcse
Focus on like how the code works and how the algorithms are actually designed
same here man
will keep that in mind thanks a lot
i took cs in as levels
Gave +1 rep to KINGSLAYER-1#7588
Ohhh how did you do
outta nowhere i was like i will take as level cs XD
maths is so shiz
i have to learn alot
Oh don't worry about it I finished all of the theory part in like one month right before the exam
Don't ask me how and why our school was not able to complete the theory part at all before the exams
sadge
Let's just say we had a misfortune during the cs theory learning part
tho it was all easy
should i print the book?
Read computer science stuff from the hodder book
ebook will be sufficient
does it go through the explanations
yes
atleast they were good enough for me
and then just see the as level pp
you finished all of your A levels?
yep
u need to either take CS or have CS related experience
Nope just finished as levels this June
Next June a2
not a requirement and doesnt account for any college credits
ik but u need CS experience for waterloo CS its v important
well i'll just do an A level in CS ig
- at least half of the ppl at waterloo have a lot of experience in HS
like internships and all
yeah well not available sadly hopefully some python courses and A level CS will cut it
ye
what school r u in
Won't give that info soz
damn ok lol
Wbu
im not gonna tell u if ur not gonna answer me first bruh lol😭 😭
Who knows maybe if you answer I'll answer
HS being???
also are you currently in waterloo or you know someone from there
also where do you live
oh high school
ye ik ppl who're going there
Well to be honest this does not show that you need to have computer science experience to study a computer science course
Becausr if you didn't know if you do take computer science in A levels
All you're basically doing is preparing yourself early for the first year in your university
Because if you didn't know more than 50% of the computer science students studying any computer science scores do not have any experience before going into that course
This is not because they don't want to have such experience
It is just because most schools do not offer programming experience in high school
so you cant have such experiance unless you really go out of your way to study
hence the first year is mostly a run down of the basics
Bruh u have to do it on ur own lol
wloo is very very competitive
only good grades arent enough to get in
it's sorta like the US universities
u need relevant experience in whatever u applied for
well that's weird
if they expect the students to know everything
then why have a basic programming course in the first year
not know everything they just want u have some experience
competition
nothing they can do
they have to filter ppl out
I think that there wouldn't be a lot of international students applying for University of Waterloo
everyone who applied has high grades
The main reason I'm saying this is because of their fees
nowadays theres a lot of competition
Like the most important way that major universities filter out applicants is just by having insane tution fees
local students yea ofcourse
Even US universities have enormous fees they still have acceptance rates of like 8%
but the international qouta i think should be less competetive
mostly coz there are better priced similar unis in canada
see it depends on which program u do for waterloo
getting in for cs is hard
coz of competition
waterloo is the best
for cs
not really
u of t is better in that aspect
waterloo is second
in canada
in general uoft is the best ye
cs specifically wloo is considered to be the best
The only thing that Waterloo has that University of Toronto doesn't is a slightly better Co op programm
actually a much better co op system
but other than that the courses are identical [mostly] and the projects are actually more in U of T if i remember correctly
oh idk
By the way bro if you think getting into Waterloo is hard then getting into the University of Toronto is even harder in that aspect
XD
oh
is it?
i got into Uoft
to be honest you don't need the best university for bachelors in any country
i didnt bother doing waterloo coz of the competition
what you need to do is to get into a uni which is recognised as being good
and then just do side projects while you are at your uni to out compete those who are in a big uni
this will save your parents wallets and also help you as you will gain additional experiance by doing such projects
oh thats really good
which exact course tho?
1st year right?
The next question I was gonna ask you is that were you able to get a scholarship because I cannot afford the tution fees of University of Toronto
XD
scholarship is super hard to get
Guys
What would be a good set of subjects for hopeful foregin uni scholarships in the field of comp science?
Just subjects and later sets
I was thinking Maths, Furthur Maths, Physics (requirement for local uni comp sci.) and Comp Sci
any other subjects that could be considered instead of this or is this the best option
I was thinking of Media Studies or Global Perspectives as other options
English Language was something I'd considered as well
Maths is the only thing that is necessary
Rest of optional
Physics is only needed for electrical part of CS
Sorry to say but scholarships are a joke
They aren’t enough tbh
Don’t count on them for much help tbh
You could replace physics with any other subject if you don’t wanna go into electrical or the engineering part of CS
Also I doubt doing more A levels will be of help, do 3 or 4 and do well in them
Scholarships will probably be for the additional things or need based ones
Alright, thank you both
Man only maths is needed
Rest all is just for compliments
I just had interest in businesses so I took that
Otherwise I would have taken physics coz why not (I don’t even have any order choice other then chem which I don’t like)
As a pure requirement yes
Yep
But unfortunately competition means you can't only satisfy the pure requirement
Like complimentary subs only help
Ofcrs
But it isn’t like you can’t get in with just maths
Sure but they asked for scholarships
Do you guys use Textbooks for uni? especially for CS majors?
Is it necessary to buy them and bring to uni?
does anyone go to Queens or Kings? specifically medicine as i am tryna decide between them but idk
anyone doing med right now?
Anyone going to METU(NCC) here?
Suggestions for universities to study BSc in Computer Science which has good financial aid schemes
Ping me too if you get a reply
I'm a year 12/grade 11 student and I'm looking for universities right now. I've found out 2 which I found interesting Baku State University and Istanbul Bahçeşehir University. To all students who graduated from those universities mentioned, may I know your honest feedback and the qualifications do they require from a Cambridge curriculum student? (np if you ping me)
Does the IPQ have any worth if I wanna go abroad to UK
Cambridge International A and AS Level subjects from University of Cambridge International Examinations. A wide range of subjects available which are university recognised
hello guys i need some help
So i got accepted into a canadian uni and selected the courses got my visa and airplane ticket set
But unfortunately i couldnt meet their requirements for A2 levels
will they decline me and what are the chances
Email em
Are their any disadvantages of getting private in o levels like when u apply to uni do they prefer private Candida or the school one if they both have same grade
As a private candidate you'll have to make sure you have someone to give you a letter of recommendation
Guys whats the chances of uoft and waterloo giving scholarship?
What were the requirements tho
Yo so they accept you and then they can reject if you don’t meet the A2 requirements
Thats how conditionals work
So getting an admission on predicted A2s means nothing
If you don’t actually achieve those predicted grades
For A2
Right?
It depends
All Bs
But they accepted me with my As grades and have my student enrolment confirmation:( so will they still decline me
Does your offer letter say you will be accepted only upon receiving those grades
nope it says i am admitted and i even got courses registered for this fall
Then ur good
If the acceptance letter has no mention
Of any requirements
Then ur good
they just needed my a2 grades
they said this
The last paragraph is a bit sketchy but they also said i have been admitted
Hey guys, can anyone tell me how does the application for London school of Economics and Poli science work?
what were your grades in AS
guys I want to go into CS but i got these results in AS level
A in CS, A in Maths, B in Business
are these grades good enough or should i retake Business AS
All A
bro i got AAB in AS level with B in business, A in maths and CS
should i redo Business for CS uni course?
Those are good grades well done
NO WAY MAN B wont do shit
just apply i can guarantee you will get accepted
the main pain in the arse is continuing this grade is A2 which i couldny
in A2"
Sad did you meet the conditions tho
Ahh makes sense
So just gotta remain consistent and good
Yes but not a top ranked uni
Wait what
Isn't the condition Bs tho
What did you get
C's unfortunately
idk i am scared whats gonna happen
was a bit too much flying after As grades
regretting it big time
Oh all Cs? Damn
mhm
What is your plan now
I dont know man kinda in a middle of an ocean now
Sad
Are canadian unis flexible in conditional offers idek
Dw many universities accept CCC
Yes man lets see
CCC is a common requirement
Send the results and see
Should be fine coz CCC gets you transfer credit
Hopefully man :3 lets see what happens
Wait what are your exact grades tho
The average has to be B
So even ABC could get you in
can anyone answer me pls?:/
.
.
with one A and 2 Bs
i want usa canada or europe
Oh
Canada you can get into most
Ualberta SFU Ucalgary etc
Europe also most except UK
They need CCC
US will be very hard even if you have top grades so avoid that imo
which countries for example?
Netherlands Finland etc
Since you have your final AL results you can do Germany and Sweden also
are they good unis?
and another important thing is pr
i wanna setlle there
Bro see
They are good but not top
With your grades top unis are sorta impossible
They need all As
I mean you can settle but it's not english speaking
is pr difficult to get in those countries?
how are ur results?
got into my uni
@cedar hollow do you think I should take my original igcse and a level certificates with me to canada
You won't get A level by then tho
Carry all ur official docs
No
No need
You might lose them or something
There's no need for IGCSE
And no need for A level once you are unconditional accepted
The only official documents I have are passport and birth certificate, nothing related to high school academics
I just have soft copies of everything
I found that a summer job asked me to bring them in
But maybe the UK is different
yea I mean if you won't lose them or damage them (saying this cause ur prob gonna be living and travelling alone in a country in a another continent for the first time) then upto you honestly
I've never seen/heard of any job here asking for hs certificates so 99% you won't need but if u wanna go for it
Yea but you can show them scans
They specifically asked to bring the hard copies
I had submitted scans during the interview process
But yeah in that case ask your parents to post it
Oh yes forgot about that
But what’s with the summer job not accepting scans
It's not that they don't lol
They asked for scans during the interview
And after I got accepted they said they wanted to see the original on the first day
I didn't take the job for other reasons but yeah
Makes sense
You're in the UK tho they ask about A levels for internships there i think but they don't in canada at all
Yeah that's fair enough
Will going private affect my uni admissions?
As long as you can get a letter of recommendation it won't
how much does the letter of recommendation matter when applying in the uk
i’m applying for fashion but i didn’t take art in a levels. so i’m asking my business teacher for the letter of recommendation
will this affect my application?
What other subjects do you do
economics IT history and business
The most relevant subject is IT
That you take
I think you should ask your IT teacher for a letter of recommendation instead of your business teacher
You need a portfolio I swear
yeah i am working on my portfolio rn
It would be good if you took Art & Design A-levels though
i had decided to study history first but by the end of AS my mind changed so it’s too late to take arts now
Same bro
name some good unis for studying microbiology
I am going to retake my physics A2 level exam in may june series exam next year. Will I still able to apply for HKUST in time? Since the main round deadline is 23 January 2023. I wish I could apply for HKUST in September intake. Anyone can help me? Appreciate a lot
guys, for data science, do u need to take CS in a-levels an dhave bg in coding before applying to unis? or do unis teach coding from the start
Yes but it will be conditional
AAA I think
for admission
and 4A* for scholarship
only 4 A* can get scholarship?
yes
what if i taking 3 subjects?
then no scholarship
u need 4
for full scholarship
3A* will get u for one year
it might even increase to 5A* next yr idk
If i want to apply, what should i apply with? My forecast result?
yes
But forecast result for may/june series exam usually going to be given by lecturer in april. Wouldnt it be to late?
ask now
based off AS level results
can anyone explain me how can i get scholarships
Yes they start from scratch
Hkust being??
unis teach programming languages usually
but i'd say better to have experience from earlier
so wud u suggest taking CS in a-levels
No
CS A2 is very unnecessary
Unless ur applying to waterloo and u need some experience
wtf bro you gotta apply waterloo best itw
tbh idk much about what's in a levels cs lol
but
it's not needed
you can programme wtv yourself
Better but not needed
Many of my friends whom ik take CS
Didn’t know about code before going for bachelors
And handled CS properly
So I can say that even if you go blindly you won’t face much issues unless you’re bad at studies
Even Waterloo doesn’t need CS
It needs maths only doesn’t it @mellow venture
@faint pulsar doesnt waterloo ask for “CS experience”
No self learn CS
A2 CS has no reflection of uni CS
Bruh no need
No man A2 is just advanced practice
It just teaches you shiz before you need it
But i do still stand by my opinion of a2 CS
Have u taken a2 CS?
Basically all that you will learn in a levels is basically uni prep
And have u looked at university CS
As yes
But still it teaches usefull things
Oh that’s another thing
Even many unis are questionable in this regard
That’s a big statement boi
You do need to know how many different structures are
And how to build em
They use OOP to define nodes in a linked list
Lmao
And then array indexes as pointers????
The code is actually wrong
Even at as level
It doesn’t work
Yeah a pure week dedicated to DS & A
Yeah the coursebook has fault code for linked list add node
Jus a heads up
Our peers in grade 12 comically pointed out to us how much of the A2 code is inefficient or useless
Ikr
We couldn’t believe it
But still
This is why im saying a2 cs isnt worth it
I wouldn’t say it is almost entirely useless
It isnt
But alone as isn’t enough
However theres clearly better options
So might as well take CS
What chem
Jus take it in IGCSE
Chem is bs
Ive noticed IGCSE to AS was fairly 1:1
Already past that point to even bother taking CS now
Damn idk coz I jumped onto CS from igcse without any background
Further maths if ur ballsy
Like I didn’t take CS in igcse
Edexcel has Discrete Math
Further maths is hard
Depends on ur subjs
Might as well take CS
I take CS maths business
Btw what were your results
For both as and A2
Coz I got AAB in as level
Ah i dont like saying that stuff
B in business unfortunately
Cmon man
Eh
PRiv then
they dont
it's only recommended
I drop it only to people ive known for a bit so yh
Ah ok
Nahhhhh
Pls man ok sure take your time
I just wanna know how bad I did
Wdym
Its not even worth comparing my AS with urs
I had covid grades
Mayb when u get to a2
Ask me then
Ah can’t tolerate that long
I think one month enough to trust me
Unfortunate
LOL
Ill see
you'll do fine if you have a real interest there
as an observation, a lot of people especially these days just want to study CS because
- that's what everyone is doing
- it leads to some of the higher paying jobs out there
yes they do
u dont need A level CS
but u need CS experience
huh????
i've seen people get in without having written a single line of code before
for cs?
maybe they got in for engineering
yeah
oh
Ikr literally everyone is taking CS
Even those that know nothing about pcs
Like cmon ppl stop
I just think that everyone should take a profession in which he atleast has some amount of interest
And that interest should not be because of getting a good paycheck
I wanted to be a doctor but I never took off in bio and so I gave up before igcse
But in cs I have a keen interest so I took that
People go where the money is. Had an interesting discussion in class. My teacher mentioned how there are so many influencers out there. Too many. And my friend- he adores politics- asked if you could say it was due to the society with the capitalistic mindset. Just cause we didn't wanna do lit
Yes but they don’t see the incredible hard work Needed in CS and medical field
I personally think that engineering is a lot easier then CS and medical but I never had interest in engineering so my choices were limited from the start
there are so many influencers out there. Too many. And my friend- he adores politics- asked if you could say it was due to the society with the capitalism mindset. Just cause we didn't wanna do lit
elaborate on "due to the society with the capitalism mindset"
I don't think your friend fully understands what capitalism is
The amount of money many influencers obtain and due to human nature of always wanting more- in this instance money- people go to where they can get the most of something. The amount of money you get from being an influencer is sometimes to ridiculous amounts. I don't think i'm currently wording everything correctly. However hopefully you understand
guys i need help i have to apply for diploma by jan after my a1 report comes-
is there any business diploma courses anyone know if in Germany
Engineering is harder than CS for sure lol
Guys im some advice for uni
i want to study Computer Science at uni and i take Law, Psychology and Computer Science at my A levels
would i be able to study Computer Science at uni by just having only 1 relevant subject related to CS??
you need to check your university's admissions requirements
it should specify what subjects you need and the grade required
Math would've helped
but you could become an IP or patent lawyer
majority of them say something like calculus & vectors, algebra and some other science subjects because they know not everyone has the opportunity to just straight up study CS in 11th and 12th grade
so this sort of makes things confusing for me?
elaborate
i mean if universities could just stright up require a highschool CS degree then they would but they know not every school offers CS as a subject at highschool level so then they require related subjects like Maths, Physics and some other science subject.
i happen have directly studied computer science insted
okay first, do you want to study CS, computer engineering or software engineering? and where
CS preferably, second option would be software engineering
where
have you checked any particular programs
yeah like 7 unis and collages
they requirements are vague for A levels stuidents
they say somthing like an overall grade of 65%
or something like "2 B"
no mention of a CS A level degree
a quick search online says you need calculus as a bare minimum to study computer science mostly everywhere
alright mate i think i know what to ask and who to ask. i should probably talk to this with my school as well
thanks btw
can someone really help me..lol
if no one knows its fine
u need math for sure for most unis
some canadian unis need physics too
math physics cs would be safe
Boi you need maths
Maths is of utmost importance for CS
Unis rarely care if you took CS in a levels or igcse although having it might be a plus
Please. What university is this? I'm desperate for a university where I can get into
THIS IS FOR CANADIAN UNIVERSITIES
A really long message and application dump but please read through all of it before replying to it.
My Academics:
My IGCSE results: 7 A*s (ESL, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths, Additional Maths, ICT). Idk what my percentages are, but I think around 80-90%
My AS Level Results: 4 A's (Physics: 78.5%, Chemistry: 63.8%, CS: 66.7%, Maths: 97.7%).
IELTS: 8.0 (L 8.5, R 8.5, W 7.0, S 8.0)
From AS Level:
Overall with 3 best: 80.9%
Overall with 4 subjects: 80%
(Theoretically, assuming I can get 90% or so in all my A2 exams, I can improve this to ~87% avg by end of Grade 12.)
A quick note before I list my university choices and queries:
Minimum Admissions Requirements aren't enough, as most universities are, as expected, competitive to get into, right? So I'll be highlighting Minimum as MIN: X% and Admissions average (averages people have got in with) as ADAVG
My Canadian university choices:
- Dalhousie University (MIN: 70%; ADAVG: ???)
- University of New Brunswick (MIN: 75% ADAVG: ???)
3, University of Victoria (MIN: 3 C's in A level so percentage-wise about 70%? [Judging by what I think of the previous grade boundaries before 2020] ; ADAVG: ~80-90%) - University of Alberta (MIN: 70%; ADAVG: 85-94% for BSc in CS and 80-89% for BE)
- Queen's University (MIN: within the competitive range is B in three Advanced Level subjects; ADAVG: Low 80's for Science (QS) and High 80s for Engineering (QEM))
Now my worries/questions are:
Am I still competitive enough to be considered in these universities (because I feel like I'm barely eligible to not at all)?
Should I resit AS Level? (Issues with this are that many universities don't like this and would outright reject if you had a second attempt: i.e. UBC)
Should I do the SATs and rather just apply with that over A levels? (As this is a big risk to take and time constraints, possibly missing out on early admissions.)
Extracurriculars
For extracurriculars, I have some I can write about. (about 2 main and 4 in total)
My two main ones would be:
-Teaching first year IGCSE Students
-Receiving hands-on training on DB Management, IT-related work (setting up medical equipment, fixing loose connections, data errors in the database system, etc.)
Everything I've done:
-Teaching first year IGCSE Students (Grade 11)
-IT Training (Grade 11)
-Badminton Club (Grade 11)
-Chess Club (Been in this one in Grade 4 and Grade 11)
(Yes a bit lacking, I know.)
I have also won Spelling Bee 1st place 6 times in a row from Grades 2-7 and I don't know if I can add this in tbh. I used to also be in the Art Club in Grade 5 I think but I don't remember much about it anymore and am thinking of omitting this one since I don't have credible evidence for this one.
Things I'm thinking of doing in the future:
-I'm thinking of doing a MOOC to add in to this but I'm not sure if I'll make it by the first week of October (when admission applications begin)
-Join my school's Student Council (I'll have sent in my application by the time I'd be able to get a certificate from my school about this, so idk if I should even do it now.)
I can negate the time issues if I send in my university applications after I complete my A Levels but it's not really an option for me.
A person recommended me to just code during the remainder time of my summer vacation but I don't know where to begin/what to do. I'm too nervous/crunched for time to clearly take a step forward... Please help. I only really know a bit of Python but it's nothing too remarkable; only the things from the A level CS syllabus and IG CS. I think I've included everything I can think of, off the top of my head. I feel like I'm going crazy And I'm really in doubt that CA universities really don't look at PMUs (%) and grades (symbols: A, B, etc) only as the consultation firm I'm planning on working with require my % for every subject alongside official certificate with symbols.
A possible reason why I think the uni's may have not looked at % from 2020-2021 sessions is because of the pandemic, during which there were only predicted grades and no percentages for any subject were handed out
bro you need to chill
@cedar hollow @void glen @mellow venture @tropic yew thoughts?
@void elk Generally if you respond to universities with these queries they will respond and are decently helpful with clearing up questions
Am I still competitive enough to be considered in these universities (because I feel like I'm barely eligible to not at all)?
and why do you feel that way? you listed your grades just before listing the requirements (that you fulfill) and for most of the universities you have listed you should be good.
Especially considering that you haven't given your A2 exams yet it's just stupid to be losing sleep over it
dude i can tell you, you have a high chance for all these universities if you get 85%+ in A2
UVic, Dal and UNB are your reach schools
Queens might be your dream school
honestly you have a good chance for all of them
i would suggest dont resist AS, its a waste of time and money
any advice on applying to malaysian universities? is the application process similar to other countries?
also, i want to major in computer science and math but in most unis, there's only the option of taking one
is it not possible to take both in malaysian unis?
You can get into Uoft UBC and Mcgill easily
they dont care about your percentage
i had similar grades
Dont resit ur grades are more than enough
Ualberta just needs a B average
so ur good to go
plus if u apply before getting final A levels they'll give u a unconditional offer
they'll give u early admission based off AS level
they never looked at percentage
check the conversion of canadian percentage to A level
Dw with ur grades ur pretty much guaranteed getting into all canadian unis except waterloo ig
just apply early coz spots fill up
Any advice on applying to UAE unis? Like which ones to avoid and which ones have good standards. I have eco, maths and psych in ALs.
No clue dk about canada
Bro you got excellent grades
As for percentages don’t even worry about em as you already meet most unis entry requirements. Also percentages were necessary during the COVID era
You already have more extracurriculars then me. (I have only 1-2)
My grades in as are AAB
All I care is that I managed an A in CS and Maths
Most unis need maths A level to be the highest grade and I am already fine in that department
I also have very few coding experience (don’t worry as many ppl go into CS degree courses without writing a single line of code)
Even Waterloo isn’t that hard
Coz he knows about programming fr before so he should easily get admission over there as well
Well on that note I got a B in business and want to go to a Canadian uni as well in CS
So should I resit my AS level business
Btw I got a B in As level
anyone?
ok💀
I only really know a bit of Python but it's nothing too remarkable
Coz he knows about programming fr
no
what do these mean? how do i know which to choose?
application to university of malaya
do you want to send me a link so I can try helping you?
could you send a larger screenshot
this lets you search for programs I think
yes but what exactly is course type and mode of implementation
you should choose based on what course type you want
can you send all entries in both dropdowns here
sure
this one is for the course type
this one is for mode of implementation
you probably want to select conventional
the usual/traditional mode of attendance unless you want to learn remotely etc.
Please help me find love which major should i pick
i see
They said compooter make money i thought i get wohman 😔
i love wohman
Send all the options
i did
where do i get that from
Well exchange generally means
From another uni
These seem p unconventional so yeah check every single one like index said
What was your grade boundary for the B? If it's >70-80% I dont think it's necessary. Also I just spoke to the consultation firm. This dude couldn't believe at all that my CS and Chem grades, thar were both mid 60%, were A's. Idk man go blame Cambridge cuz of the grade boundaries being so low (56-57% for A). Should it become C's by the time AS level certificates come in Sept/Oct, then fuck it. Idc. I tried my best and fuck MCQ and Practicals: they can go to hell.
That person also said my chances of getting into UAlberta is possible but low but even more low for UBC. Didnt talk about UToronto because not really interested in going to Ontario
why would it become C's by the time certificates come?
you're just getting worried for no reason
Idk I feel frustrated
Dont believe lol percentage doesnt matter
only letter grade
I'm getting conflicting info
and we keep telling you that percentages don't matter
idk if you're looking at the Canadian averages
I'll send you the link I'm looking at
Competitive admissions requirements, including the minimum requirements and competitive grade point averages for professional programs.

What dyu wanna study? Like field in CS the specialization? What's more important to you? Jobs/research?
What interests you more?
tbh i want to study math
I feel you
but my parents are urging me to go into a field that has more practical uses
which one has the most math?
Hm
yeah lol
Uoft and all have specific A level requirements
Then CompSci Major with minor in Maths or double major
I can't find any requirements for a level students on the alberta website
i want to double major but im afraid if that would double the fees
ye it aint there
couldn't agree more
but unofficially
you need B average
anw with ur AS results u can get in
apply in october and u'll get in
i got in october
even if you arent done with ur full AS?
I thought uAlberta deadlines passed for September 22
oh I finished A level
i still have two subjects in oct
ik i meant if i still had subjects to do in oct, can i still apply early?
i have two As in AS atm
from may
you're saying if you don't have Bs needed in A2 you can get in with AS?
I'm sorry man... idk mich about Malaysian unis...
it's okay, thanks tho
Gave +1 rep to シユ (Shiyu)#5457
they give u early admission based off AS results
My frustration
have deadlines for September this year passed?
what if i didnt finish my AS exams yet?
What documents dyu need?
IGCSE and AS results
ye
once my results are out?
u can apply for 2023
wow should've done all my AS together in this case
Could you be more specific? Like IG & AS Level Certificates? The hard copy ones.. like scan them and apply online right? My agency keeps asking me for these blue slips of paper which I'm assuming is the component marks and percentage grades too alongside the official certificate
no
scan copy
hard copy aint needed
maybe u need 9th final results too
Not the provisional statement of results though right?
The one accessed via myresults.cie.org.uk
even thats fine
if im applying with a levels, i dont need to include my report cards from school, right?
Yes
The documents I mean
What uni did you apply for again?
?
University of ALberta
If you apply using AS final certificate then you need your predicted grades from your school
And AL Term 1 exam resulta
@faint pulsar can I add you? Please help me in my app to UoA
there isnt anything
just upload the docs
and apply
the uni you're applying to needs a personal statement, no?
So no transcripts, First term of A2 result %'s. Just:
IG Certificate scan
AS Certificate scan
IELTS
Predicted A2 Grades when I get my hands on them (around Feb/March)?
@faint pulsar
ask for it now
they'll give
based off AS result
So not on my perf on, say a past paper of A2?
If I manage to get a mix of A's and A*s, then I'm good to go according to you guys. I'll see what I can do. I'll talk to my school.
Bro ur good now also
ur guaranteed getting into Uoft and Mcgill
and UBC
with ur grades
as long as u get good predicteds
@hoary mulch check your DMs. I have a friend who studies in Malaysia. Think she can help you out
what do u need to get into uoft?
🥲
Nepotism
Wish I could've laughed at this
im seriously asking 🙂
c-can you s-sponser me? :3
hmm
I think
All A*s, really good extracurriculars, with leadership positions
you should be good to go
Me: proceeds to commit death
😭😭😭
where are you applying to?
i dont think i have a chance at all

one of these
university of alberta annd queen’s uni is also on my list
the #5 is copium
is it easy to get into them?
What a few pep said, (if you can scroll up, you'll be able to read the full discussion i had) is not too easy but possible
Except Queen's and Waterloo
Queen's has a class size of 50
for first year
so extremely comp
i heard waterloo is very very hard to get in
AS three B’s :)))
Congrats dude!
4 A's but mid %
most of the good unis ask for all A’s idk how am i gonna get into one
🙂 kinda tensed about it
Not necessarily all

I think you'll have a good chance of getting accepted into UNB
or Dalhousie
are they less competitive than alberta and queen’s ?
Oh yes
quite a bit less actually
for ref: they're closer to the bottom 10
UAlberta is #5 in CA
that was my number one option tho :))
is it possible for me to get in with all A’s in A2?
not too crowded but not too small either
im sureee u will get in
🙏
well... I'll have to see
with AS final certificate
so im gonna begin my app process around mid Sept
I thought of doing it but only benefits would be that I'd be able to include 2 more extracurriculars (maybe) and have better AVGs for A Level but I don't want to risk losing early admissions offers
