i told you i dont know for certain
you need to figure out which sixth form you want to enroll in and figure out how to get in / register
i just told you that the curriculum is a massive change and it will be difficult to do A levels after not doing GCSE study + for those sixth forms that are competitive, you may find it difficult to get admission
im glad
Who
i have a question and i need an answer, is it worth leaving your parents just to study abroad? i can afford studying in my country but its expensive unlike Europe but i dont want to leave my family (plus doing religion stuff will be harder outside)
this isnt something other ppl can answer for you
that depends on you
how will you and your family take it?
what is difference in BS Computer Science and BE Software Engineering? what is preferable?
one is a comp sci degree and the other is software engineering lol. they're two different niches of study
and... preferable for what
Idk which one whould I go for. So I can choose correct subjects for my A'levels
what are you more interested in? what career(s) are you aiming for?
both require pretty similar subject combos afaik if not the same
AI or Cyber Security maybe
in that case i would suggest CS
Software Engineering requires Chemistry? But WHY?
the majority of eng courses require chem
what's the other caseš
then should I opt chem just in case? or any other 4th subject
if you want to work with software specifically, do anything in terms of software design, or work in dev at a tech company lol
AI is more CS and machine learning
personally i don't know a lot about cyber security and how much it involved any kind of eng
yeah it's a totally different program
is there anything you want to take in its place? chem looks good with phy/maths and does open you up to other tech major options in general
i took FM/CS/chem/phy bc i was considering comp eng. not what im doing anymore but it's still a solid subject combo
no not any. like a language subject maybe
FMš® I am hardly doing Math
i say this bc unis in the US sometimes like to see a humanity on there
don't ask lol idk how im surviving
not sureš© I want to go for abroad any place I can afford by myseld if not than just my country
for Bachelors
yeah IK
idk your budget but US is mad expensive
Ohk
UK can be as well
yeah that's why I am not even thinking about US
r u saying UK would be expensive too?
I was thinking about Germanyš„ŗ
less than the US but still yes depending on your budget
no idea about it :(( sorry
Oh ok
no issue
germany unis are free or semi free
from what i knew in my research
but there requirements are high i think
@small turtle @slow widget
done
cheers
Hey guys I would like to study law in the future and I'm wondering if Geography, Business Studies and history are good A level subject combinations
My sister took law, psychology and business for her a level. Check the requirements btw different uni might have different requirements
like said your uni may have different requirements. some require english or a STEM subject so definitely check
Guys what's a full stack developer
What I understand is like a developer that can do pretty much everything, for example the developer is capable of doing front end and back end stuff without any problem
Oh
and isn't speaking german mandatory?
okay thank you so much!!
Thank you!!
Oh okk
Any sixth form suggestions plsss
suggestions for what
I need advice about applying to a international scholarship. is a high school transcript different compared to graduate transcript ? If Iām applying to uni can I just use ONLY my A level transcript to apply?
Or MUST I should show my high school certificate
Graduate transcripts are for people who finished their undergrad if I'm not wrong
And that depends on the country/ scholarship you're applying to
your transcript, in most countries, means all your grades in high school
ie igs, as, and a2
though some schools require a 3 year transcript but in the case of britisg curriculum it would be the same
I searched unis in Germany that had English courses so I could see if there we more AE programs, sadly none but I came across applied mathematics and physics. I found them interesting and rethinking my career.
I never really put much effort into picking aerospace as a career. I found it out when searching for careers for physics and maths, Remembered my love for planes and done, Iām going to be an aerospace engineer. I thought of being a pilot but I donāt know if Iām ready for it. Scared but not scared at the same time. Also I donāt think my parents would approve.
Iām in A2 now and this seems late and Iām kind of freaking out. Idk what I want to do
I really found applied maths interesting based off the fact I love maths, could do math all day. But I donāt understand what I could do as a job
@small turtle
how much high?š„ŗ
nope.
oh that's great
I am the opp. I hate Math, but I have to study it becuz of my love for CS
r u applying or planning to apply?
planning to yes, in november
are u in AS or A2?
Kinda both have to give As exams in mid october, and I'm already done with most of A2 course as well
INTELLIGENT PEOPLE ALERT!!!
which degree if you don't mind me asking
used to love maths and cs now i hate both <33
computer science, gonna do bachelors in Cyber security
are you applying a year early then
yess
good luck!
why?
burnout and pressure
Ahh kinda same here too bro. I am thinking to do bachelors in CS then masters maybe in a particular
samee masters later
oooh Actually I gave first Math test and got 4/40š« š
yeah AS and A2 are pretty much taking placeš
yeah I have an exam on 15th ;-;
the pressure is un real
WTF. well you must've prepared before na.
yeahh ofc
intellectuality ALERT!!!!
lol
oh, yikes
ty
is 2 A levels enough to apply to uni (in average), or must i have at least 3?
What is this for?
At least 3 is needed. I don't know any universities that requires 2. But the minimum is 3
3 much better and is the optimal but some higher end private unis can take 2
unless ur course is atypical eg arts then something like A level arts or wtver and something like design or smthing would suffice (insert large question mark)
uni dependant
I see thank you
Any advise on actuarial science?
I'm interested in that career too. From what I know it's heavily maths/stats based
Cool.
Is an economic or information technology and computing degree good for the future? what do you think?
yes!
if you enjoy doing them then especially yes
do you have any career plans or ideas for the future
yeah. i want to be data scientist šØāš»
oh very cool
me too!
i would advise a data science, CS, applied maths / computing, or stats degree
i dont know about economics since ive never studied it but im applying for a DS major in a lot of places
DS major?
data science major
oh cool. my country donāt have it but i choose IT and computing. cause i really enjoy computer and study ITC major lol. everyone said marketing major is useless but why?
well it depends what you want to go into
for data science you really need to be strong in either maths, computing, or both
marketing will likely not help you
what country? do you plan to pursue uni there?
i know but my middle sister want to marketing degree to be marketing managerā¦ššš
well then itll help her
im from lebanon but i am living in kuwait. my mom wonāt let go to study lebanon in university. i heard lebanon university is really good but everything is broken.
wait
what school
im not being creepy i swear i ALSO live in kuwait and i had no idea anyone else in this server did
haha. same to you!! š
i heard NES is really good. is it true?
i graduated from last year lol
why you donāt go to BSK?
my parents put me in NES
hey guys id appreciate some quick help
so basically we get our final grades based entirely on our performance on 2 tests
the main subjects went well
but our english teacher hates more or less our entire class cos she thinks we dont do enough
and she gave us p shit predicted grades
any idea if that sort of stuff messes up my application?
I got p decent grades in all other subjects
for reference, an A*,A,A, and B on the remaining subjects
and a D in english
id appreciate some help so I can figure out whether or not I wanna contest this
for reference im applying solely to the US
yeah,,, it does
what do you plan to apply for
biology
english shouldn't have a massive impact on your application in that case
can you not report this to the school though
Talk to your school, parents and event get another teacher to mark your test to see if theres a difference
US academic performance standard is just SAT tbh
just give the SAT
and show these
ull be good enough for mid-top tier unis, maybe top-top tierr unis
I can maybe but I really don't think they'll budge on this
thats another issue our english teacher also happens to be the head of english at the school
ahh cool cool
I did p well on that got a 700 in english
thanks!
Yikes, you can try a tutor or something. But as others have said, English isnāt really a perquisite so you should be good
And yea the sat is a good measure
I enjoy a level maths a lot and by far the most interesting subject I have. This led me to explore a math degree but what does one do with a math degree? What type of job. Iāve seen general yt vids showing the different sectors but not any specific work
I see a lot of programming but I have no experience in cs
i beg to differ
very strongly, actually. academics matter a lot especially in terms of course rigour while standardised testing is increasingly losing importance
with applied maths or stats you can go into data science
for a lot of CS degrees, you dont actually need prior knowledge in programming
its usually data analytics or finance that ppl want to do unless they tie maths into another passion like environmental science or smth
absolutely not sorry
in the US a lot of focus is on extracurriculars [a LOT] and on essays
as someone with stellar academics and a great SAT, i am barely guaranteed admission to midtier unis rn
ESPECIALLY as an international
this is what i meant more off but i didnt put it correctly
but the thing im trying to get across is
SAT / A levels are just a tick box for these unis
and the SAT will not make up for bad grades in school
but still id give the SAT anyways
true
well depending on where youre applying it could be quite important to do so
but good A levels will make up for the SAT
mhmm
also no
glad to hear that! but make sure u compare ur final score to the percentile scores of the unis ur planning for
not particularly bc the SAT is a standardised test for a reason
as in
independent of your curriculum
a mediocre SAT is less detrimental this year and these past years bc unis are realising how its kinda shitty
but good A levels wont make up for a not too good SAT score
you do have the option to not report it now though
at most places
Glad I won't need SAT for the UK, however UK Universities are less benevolent when it comes with grants I've heard especially when it comes to International students.
i don't believe they offer financial aid
though you can get scholarships, but those tend to be really difficult
for internationals especially like you said
finaid from the US is a nightmare for internationals too
if you have financial concerns then the UK and the US are likely places to avoid
I'll figure something out, god willing, a wise man once said, if the plan doesn't work, change the plan but never the goal.
okay
good luck
if you need help with anything UK or US related feel free to ping and i can try my best to help since thats where im applying
yeah I'm above the 75th percentile for most of the unis im applying to
thats super awesome!!
best of luck
thanks!
Difference bw Oxford and Cambridge?
theyre two different universities
one is in oxford and the other is in cambridge
I actually thought they were the same Iām so dumb
And stupid
Which is much preferred?
depends what for
im applying CS so definitely cambridge
they are really similar in terms of academic
so they are termed together eg: Ivy League, Oxbridge, etc
did you submit the saq?
no i only got it this morning
you know the diff between AS level (linear) and AS level (UMS)?
yes for the education section of saq
had the same question. I think UMS is when you receive the percentile number
next to ur grade
I dont have that so I kept linear AS and linear A level
I have my UMS as I gave the exam in feb/march
then keep it as UMS ig
but what topics did you include
for chemistry I did like physical chem, organic chem and etc
also did you include your A levels?'
?
family funding
are you there for a moment?
idk
What?
No not needed for A levels
like ig your from india?
so i have 6 igcse's then i dont have to send ?
also no transcripts for A levels?
Idts
theyre all vastly different
you cant really compare something like biochemical engineering to like mechanical engineering or something
theyre applicable in different places
@tame bane go for IT
um
dont go for IT if you dont enjoy IT
and IT is not even engineering unless youre talking about comp eng
Is B.Eng in Robotics and A.I. good choice?
Is there something better?
You sound like it's not that good but if you are interested then fine
I haven't decided which course to choose
Still confused
I am interested in tech
It depends from person to person so I can't say what's better for you, you know?
Like for me med is better, not necessarily for you
But, at the end of the day, AI is a great field for sure
ye like there's definitely a lot of scope in terms of growth for AI as well as a lot of money that can potentially be earned in the field
actually that reminds me, for those who applied for an engineering degree in the UK, is the foundation chemistry the same level as IGCSE level or AS level?
I didn't do foundation but I've seen a friend's worksheets and they're like AS/A2
most foundation courses are almost the same as what u learn in A levels and AP
heck even high school
their purpose is to make sure every1 is up to date on whatever there is
ive seen a few things here and there that my brother learnt in AP that im not in A levels, and vice versa
so their goal is to (a) make sure everybody is up to pace and, to a lesser extent (b) "revise" everything
Is plain Comp. Science a good subject to choose in Uni if I haven't particularly decided on a field yet but know that I'm interested in something related to CS. I'm asking this cuz I've heard that CS is very competitive
I think it's good
Cuz CS is a good subject to coose as it will be very important in the future
alright thanks!
dont click on it
hey i wanted to ask, is business, IT and math (P1 and S1) a good combination of subjects? what fields can i get into with these AS/A level subjects
Im guessing but fields like data science and big data must be good choices with these subjects
What happens if I fail igsce maths?
wdym what happens
depends on the uni or college
And what if i can't retake whole the year?
dont be so pessimistic TvT
try ur best
even retaking tbh isn't as bad as people make it sound, like when it comes to applying to universities not such a big deal, imo
So. I decided to take 4 subjects for A Levels. Which includes: Bus, Acc, math nd IT. It's been rlly hard to manage nd keep up with all 4 so I v decided to drop math. So will it have a big impact on the types of courses I can undertake going into the financial feild
Yes
Check the university requirements for perquisites for the degree
Afaik maths is important
Imo drop IT instead
Math is very important
You drop whatever subject you think youāre not gonna get a good grade in
Thereās no point in doing maths just to get a D
When you couldāve gotten an A in the subject you dropped
Yeah but do ur research first if the universities u want to apply to dont care abt math then go ahead and drop it
Hey guysbi have a question. For medical degreees abroaf should i do a levels or an bachlor of science.Im age 15 and im finishing my IGCSE this year and getting my results the following year
I would say a level since it is recognized internationally
I have a question, so I have taken 3 AS already and now im taking 2 A2s in this oct/nov, I found some unis that accept 2 A levels so im thinking of staying with 2 A levels but most unis require 3 A levels, do I take the third a level for an advantage ? Thing is the third AS is chem and I hardly passed it coz I hate chem, so if imma take it A2 its gonna be 10x harder. (Studying abroad btw)
I think u shud take chem as well- unless ur almost finalized with the university u want to go in which requires 2 A levels
Cuz yes, mostly unis do require 3 A levels, it also depends on the field u want to go in.
You can seek necessary help in chem if thatās the problem, or take side classes if u require.
would it be better to finish that chem A2 or take another subj that is easier and take it full A level? (medicine)
For medicine, most of the unis consider chem important
Hello, does anyone know if A levels are recognized in Germany if my school is not a British school? Or are there specific requirements for the high school diploma on top of the a levels requirements?
If I'm not wrong A levels are universally accepted and most European countries accept A-levels. Follow this Cambridge link, I think it has some useful info: https://www.cambridgeinternational.org/programmes-and-qualifications/recognition-and-acceptance/country/germany/
Guidance on university recognition of Cambridge qualifications in specific countries.
As long as you have a levels, youāre good
hey i wanted to ask if it necesarry to take addmaths in ig if you want to go to medical school?
I donāt think so at all.
Normal maths is enough
^
if you think you can take add maths then you should, it gives you a better time in college/uni when you have to study maths stuff
Ok thanks alot both of you!!
Does anyone know what courses I need to take, in order to become a technical writer?
Idk sorry
Thoughts on business informatics?
I saw the course and thought that it was very interesting it's like a combo of economics, IT, business administration and a little computer science.
Hey I want some advice
I want to do become a pilot in the future
And I'm done with igcse ( O-levels )
Is it a good idea to do A-levels or join a flight school ?
Pls tag me when you reply
Oh yeah same question
As far as I know you should do Alevels if you are underage to join training or you want to do University first just to stay on the safe side because as a Pilot if anything goes wrong or you become physically incapable of flying you gotta have a backup
@remote jewel
I'm 17
And I'm physically fit
And also I have done my igcse this year Oct / Nov
What's the point of uni ?
Can you tell me
Examples what can go wrong
do you wear glasses š you cant be in the air force if you wear glasses
Yea, even I feel like A levels should be done, igcse is a very basic level of education, many people also confirm their profession decisions during this time.
P.s idk if a flight school can accept igcse only
yeah but things can still go wrong
Nope
I don't have glasses
you never know if you'll trip down the stairs tomorrow or sth
šš @shadow tree
They do accept
Thing is that A levels can give u a lot of backup plans, so playing safe is good
Rest, is up to you
Hmmmm.. I see I see
But don't u need just the basic for pilot ?
I don't think you will gotta do some big big stuff
A level isnāt big big stuff, itās just advancing ur basic igcse knowledge, studying uni is big big stuff ;-;
Just gave the entrance exams, waiting for their acceptances
šššgood luck
U2 āļø
What u gonna do engineering ?
Nah, med
Thank you g
Yea das big big stuff ;-;
Tyy š¤§
Sunglasses
run
šš
Yes ik my sunglasses dope in my pfp
No relay race
Sprint ?
I warned you
Too late
Nah brother imma fly
I believe I can flyyy š¶
In A-levels max. How many subjects u need ?
3 is the minimum
Most ppl do 3, but if ur uni requires 2, go ahead
Yea, ig they essential for flying
Yesss
take further math
Like there is no way imma take biology
Of course U wonāt be dissecting a frog while flying
My dad took biology and he hold me about šš
They don't
I was WTFF šš
My teacher told me they banned few years back
THATS GOOOD !
bruh it was in A Levels before?
My dad did everything
ššsmart ass guy
Masters , degree , bachelor shit
He said "Son be an engineer like me"
Me : Ohhhh HELLL noooo š
Yoooo
Can you do flight school and A-levels at the same time ???????
Pls do tag me if u reply
I don't think it is possible to do both at the same time
well oyu can do it if you timetable your days properly
but itd be really hard and
ur a levels results will suffer
go take a look on a level paper
if you really feel like is doable then go a head

Hello
Im currently in O levels IGCSE
and i know its really far off
but im was having trouble in ad math and I want to drop it, but my mom says i need to take it because it'll help me in further math when I take A levels.
I want to take something that has to do with computer science in the future, and i need someone to tell me why math is so important for computers.
Add maths would help you in alevel maths, but I don't really think you need FM for CS. I know loads of people who only took alevel math, and still went for cs abroad and in local universities.
i see... thanks
a lot of people also do take fm for cs tho, you'll have a fair bit of linear algebra (and probability?) in your course
just need to know basic
Different Kinds of Math Used in Computer Science Binary Math College Algebra Statistics Calculus Discrete Math As a complicated field, there are various types of math in computer science. Computer science examines the principles and use of computers in processing information, designing hardware and software, and using applications. Possessing a ...
well if you do take FM you can get shit ton of credits
so I would say its worth it
But they like it if you have FM
algorithms
cs at university is like 80%-90% math
Doesn't make much of a difference in terms of admissions, or at least that's what I have observed.
I mean most of them say on their website although it's not required they like it
the top ones
and
I heard that if you don't take it you'll need a good reason to boost your chances
like your school doesn't offer it or smthn
regardless
it's still very useful
to have it
Hi for software development how many A* should I take? and what subjects are the most important?
You will need to do assignment, group assignment and courses are usually really rush because one semester is only 3 months
go for a level if you prefer exam based grading
Okay, what about admission ? If I complete a university's foundation, are there still chances they won't take me in ?
I saw somewhere on the internet that it's like you're already part of the uni. True?
if your gpa is lower than the gpa required for your degree course then yes
Ohh alright
Thanks again
Arenāt they 9months long?
Ah, I see.
Where did you plan on Studying?
First I thought Malaysia but them private unis seem like a scam there
So I was looking at Singapore as well
^imo
š¤£
hi, so im planning on taking math for alevels but i didnt take addmaths in igcse
im just wondering how much harder it would be for me to take it
Not very
Hello! I took maths in alevels after not taking addmaths, and tbh maths will be one of the easier subjects for you in alevels if your time management is correct. Just don't slack, and try to keep up with the pace, do loads of practice and you'll be fine! (((:
ah okay thanks for the input
ive been trying to do some addmaths questions to see how hard itd be but im still in the earlier chapters so it doesnt really feel that hard yet
this might be a personal question so its ok if u dont wanna answer but what did you get for maths?
Oh I just gave my exams, will let u know in Jan (((:
oh alright, i hope you get A* for it then :)))
Thank u (āā¢į“ā¢ā)ā¤
not even a slight problem
idk anyone who took add maths and is now taking a level math
they're all fine
don't worry
thats great to know, thanks
I hope this doesnt sound like a dumb question, even tho it kinda is...how do I make my CV?
as far as i know, you list your achievements, degrees, qualifications, extracurriculars and stuff like that
Are you asking for a template?
broo idk what i wanna do with my life, idk what a-levels i wanna pick.
i'm kinda sure about 2 a-levels but not sure about the last one
I didn't know about a single subject so dw
ayooo but still, i'm gonna worry about it
Ayo I finished Alevels and I still don't know what to do with life :DDD
Which one's did you choose?
i haven't finally chosen them yet but so far, math and physics. idk if i wanna do chem or f-math for my 3rd A-level
low-key a mood, but hey u will figure it out soon and if not, that's ok :)
take both :DDD, (I'd say chem tho)
Also if you can take four then go with chem/phy/bio/math
That'll open up a lot of career options for u
Which is if u took bio at olevel/igcse
4 a-levels?
i'm doing coordinated sciences and it includes bio
i've heard 4 a-levels is real hard
yeah true, some do 5
yeah they love to suffer
LOL, well maybe some people know how to manage their time and study well so it's easier for them
but yet again, idk
do further math only if you really love it
yeah 5 would also be okay if we didn't waste so much time
idk if i love it because i never done it but i generally have a high interest in math and i do ad-math for iGCSE
5 honestly seems like too much, some unis find it unnecessary
yea that's fair, how are u coping with it for now?
well I started studying properly in the last few months for AS which was not such a good decision
it would've been much easier if I started before and actually listened to the lecture
I just gave the exams and the result is gonna come in Jan but I think I did fine
and I just started A2 so idk about that
wait so u do one year AS and second year A?
Go for further math then
U will be fInE smartass
but you have the option to do both together
yeah i think my school is gonna do the full A-level route
which honestly, i don't mind
but goodluck for your exams and all :)
no problem. i got like half a year till them but thanks!
don't do bio
i won't because i don't like bio
Good
should've picked math
cuz now all of a sudden i kind of want to do astrophysics

@ebon dirge
@wise eagle give tips on managing 5subs
I don't do 5 subs?
hey got a question
what's considered "exceptional academic achievements"
i have 3.81 gpa unweighted
and have quite some voluntary and community works
teaching orphanages, small village and fellow students
also managing school events, posters, videos as well as being the sole graphic designer of my school newspaper club
active in many competitions and Olympiads though i didnt achieve much
am i eligible for most merit based scholarships?
5.0 GPA cured cancer 5 FAANG internships sold at least 3 startups for 500k to Facebook, Google etc
Stuff like that
and PhD in philosophy
Lol jk idk
Honestly, merit-based scholarships are extremely competitive as they focus solely on academic achievements. E.g. a friend of mine who was at UCL on a scholarship had essentially been winning national olympiads, doing international ones and was really a genius. I think you have great extracurricular experience so look into more general scholarships and paint yourself in a hollistic fashion
Do a level overseas students need to do ielts/toefl for uni admission
depends on the uni
What if you have English in A Levels
A lot of unis have the requirement only for people who havenāt been studying in a high school where english is the language of teaching but it varies from uni to uni
what's an ielts and toefl?
Search in google.com š
ok i did. is it only if u are not a native english speaker?
Ye
do we need to have achievements in our ecas for it to have value?
oh ok, great for me. but goodluck for anyone who's doing it :)
Hello everyone, Myself Irfaan, I'm new on the platform. Any advice for A level Physics?
Hello myself nigs, any advice for cie a level physics, maths, computer science and SAT-1
Hello! Type znroles and choose your subjects first to get access to relevant subject channels.
where should I type it more specifically?
#bot-stuff-1
^
ill give u the roles for now
ask in the subject channels please
hi, its me again
i was thinking about becoming a vet/something bio/chem related
so i was going to do bio & chem in alevels, but i only took coordinated science in igcse
i can get accepted for the course but my parents believe i shouldnt do it since i didnt do pure science and want me to do humanities
but im really not interested in humanities and would rather not do something i barely have interest in for alevels since although its hard at least if i like it i could pull through
but im worried i cant do bio/chem and i would rather not get Cs/Bs T.T
any advice?
hello there (totally not a star wars reference)
im in 9th grade (igsce 1st year) and i dont know which career or field to go to, my school doesnt provide any career councelling sadly, and i have a lot of options, i want to go to the art side but i also want to teach, i dont really know what im supposed to say now, just that im extremely confused.
;-; idk if someones supposed to talk to me about it now or i should just awkardly sit here.... T~T
It's okay, you still have a lot of time, I already finished A levels yet still have no clue what to study haha, I would say maybe you could try tutoring your friends and see if you enjoy it, same goes to art, you could try to complete a few drawings each week if you have time :)) and if you like both then maybe you can be a private tutor then work on your drawings during your free time!
yo i need someone smart rn
i c i c :))))) thanksssss this actually clears a lott
:D
i'm pretty sure you can do bio or chem in A-level with a co-ordinated sciences grade for iGCSE.
i'm doing co-ordinated sciences too (finishing off in M/J 22) and will most likely do a science subject for A-level. š goodluck choosing your subjects (:
ok so, you should pick whatever interests you and if it's something bio related that you want to do then pick bio and chem. Biology is reeeeaaaaally easy but that might be because I had bio in my o levels I don't know but chem is really fucking hard.
Besides that natural sciences also open up a lot of career choices in uni. With bio and chem you can do medicine, veterinary science, biochemistry and so on. Obviously you will probably have to work harder than almost every other student in your class to understand but if it's truly something you want to do why not take a chance?
CoCl2
[Co(Cl)4]2-
i wanna do math, f-math, chem, phys, and comp sci but i don't wanna do 5 a-levels
AAAA i should choose 3 but idk what
Depends on what you want to pursue at uni
If u big brain u can do it
Ive seen ppl do 7 and 8
And honestly if u grind and not dumb u dont need more than 3 months to get A* in any a level subj imo
Except for maybe practicals
i don't know
7-8 a-levels? that's crazy af, i only do 8 igcse lmao
Ye crazy
Ye same bro im doing 8 igcse and im suffering
š
your interests seem to lie in mathematics and computer science obviously
so you can pursue stuff like engineering or computer science in university
if you happen to be like me and love space but actually took related subjects
you can pursue astrophysics (which from what ive heard has a major computer part) or aerospace engineering
or maybe even research in mathematics
generally speaking for these career choices just physics, math and cs should work easy
chem might not be important unless unis in your country (like mine) require chemistry in their entrance tests for any engineering courses
If you're taking astrophysics make sure you really like physics because obviously the focus of your degree will be foundations of physics and only a portion of that will be dedicated to astrophysics
I guess that'd be a reminder for every degree, remember that you'll have to learn a lot of background knowledge for that core interest to make sense and that may not always be something you anticipate so research that
chem seems to be the odd one out tbh so yeah maybe i'll drop that one.
yeah math is probably my main interest with physics and CS around it (i've never studied CS but i'm starting self study before a-level so i can do it then and, well, it interests me).
i've just heard that doing 4 or 5 a-levels is really hard and it's better to do 3 but narrowing down to 3 is hard to choose, you know what i mean?
4 A levels is still good
aw it's okay, well, we can do this :)
Honestly i wouldnt see the point theres practically barely any merits to it youd be better off acquiring ECAs in that time
Yes i love studying oscillations and circular motion for the entirety of my a2
Yes i strongly agree, but just saying a fact thats all
Fair
Can someone get into Bsc psychology programs if they donāt have psychology in A levels? Basically my friend is planning to pursue psychology and he doesnāt have psychology A Levels he is in A2.
Afaik you can since a lot of schools don't offer it, it's not a requirement
Okay
Can someone tell me if it is possible to do a double major degree in Bsc from university of cologne
Not sure tbh, you can write to them but it does seem like they have double master's degrees
U probably can
Alot of unis have em and ik people who have done double degrees in v different things (from diff unis tho)
I think its a common thing
any affordable uni in pak that offers cyber security program
No top ranked uni offers a specialized program in cyber sec except FAST. I'd suggest aim for NUST's CS and then go towards cyber sec.
Doesnāt matter if the uni is pn top or not, I just want it to be affordable
u plan to do cyber sec only ? won't cs work?
I want to specialize in Cybersecurity
well mate cant you get your degree in CS and then after specialise in cyber sec
Can u roughly explain this journey with how much time will it take to complete too
A degree is either 3 or 4 years at uni
Basically you look for computer science programs at uni and pick the one you like
And after you finish uni you specialise on cyber sec

Hello! Just wanted to know what kinds of job opportunities are/will be available for a physics and math double major?
in theory pretty much anything that you can get with a physics degree and also banking etc
as a physics and math double major
but then i havent actually started applying for jobs doe
You can most industry things that involve theory/math:
- quantitative Finance + Finance in general
- quantum stuff (computing, info theory, etc.)
- Military stuff ofc
- If you lean towards computational stuff then you can do some cs related stuff too
Alright, thank you so much for responding!
Thank you!
That's really cool, what is it like handling both of them together?
well ive found that i really like the physics part and dont really like the math part
its a little more work than a single hons degree but then since i havent experienced both i cant tell tbh
also keep in mind that for military stuff it has to be with your own country, for some reason i was saddened that i couldnt intern at GCHQ or BAE so
Hmm okayyy, also yes, there was a similar criteria for aeronautical engineering a few years back, don't know if they've changed it yet tho
But thank you!
its not for the degree itself, just the job opportunities available, and yeah aero has a lot of military applications directly so its v obvious
Okayyy
Also, I'm sorry if this is the wrong channel for it but generally for someone who's never really done any kind of programming before and wants to self study it, which programming language should I start with and what resources can I use?
Start with Python, anything resource that you are comfy is with is good for you
Yeah start from python as Pugs said, it's very easy to learn and understand, and it'll really help build your programming skills
From there you can move to tougher languages like Java
Alright, thank you so much @crimson willow & @fresh hornet ! (āā¢į“ā¢ā)ā¤
Np
Anytime owo
engineering, masters, phd, medical
assuming u have mathematics as well
not sure what you can do without mathematics and only the sciences
also do you mean in terms of applying to University
Guys I am currently in my A Levels. My subjects are physics, chemistry, biology, math as well as English. I plan on keeping Math and English only for AS Level. Basically, I plan on going to Germany as it is affordable. I am changing my mind and thinking of doing something related to Neuroscience and Psychology. I donāt have psychology in A Levels. Can someone please guide me in this field? Is it possible to do a double major? What is more better a double major and double degree? What are the career opportunities after Bachelors for this field?
IMO don't drop maths as it might be required
Yes
Thanks though!
No, not engineering. You definitely need mathematics for that. But sciences field like biochemistry, neuroscience, medicine is still doable without mathematics, or with just AS-Level mathematics.
True that
CS is one of the widest career opportunity fields. You can work online as well
However, you must check respective uni requirements from their websites
Okey ..thnks @slow widget
Yoo guys quick question
What's harder IGCSE or SATS?
And what do universities prefer more between the two
You're Welcome
I don't think there is a comparison coz IGCSE is a full 3 year degree type thing and SAT is just one exam that takes some 2-3 months to prepare. and for Unis, IGCSE or an equivalent grade like GCE, EDEXEL is must, but SAT is more admission based i.e, after Alevels you may or may not have to give SAT depending on the uni requirement.
SAT is like a universal entry test
Anyone pursuing Med School generally? (India specifically)
Is it possible for me to just take maths SAT and therefore I won't do maths igcse cuz I didn't get ge grade I wanted
nope, I don't think so. IGCSE is Must, SAT can be optional
the SAT is a completely different thing
it can't replace igcse
Also IGCSE builds up your core knowledge for A levels.
you can argue some subjects you can get away without IGCSE but for math imo itās important
Hiii! does anyone know the requirements for most collages in canada . each site is saying different stuff
also, could someone help me with choosing subjects for IB- i wish to keep my options open in more than 1 stream. so help me choose HL and SL levels for : eng, maths, eco, business, IT, physics
hihi
i'm chosing business high level
i cam here to ask the same thing, i just saw past papers for the subjects im planning to choose and freaked
here are the subjects im planning to do for IB
english language and literature HL
french ab initio SL (my college doesn't offer HL, so i have to do SL, and i'm doing alliance on the side)
business management HL
psychology SL (maybe)
biology HL
Mathematics Analysis and Approaches and Mathematics Application and Interpretation HL
psychology SL is freaky
like 9 and 22 mark questions for SL?
i'd rather not, and it isn't important to my course of field anyway
but i find psychology interesting which is why i'm even considering it
anyway, any advice on what i should do?
english lang and lit seems manageable, french ab initio i can do rn too that's vvv easy had me shocked, business management HL is freaky, psychology SL, like i said, not important to my field and very freaky because 22 mark questions, biology HL is something im actually looking forward to and seems vv manageable, math HL i can't find any past papers (for Mathematics Analysis and Approaches and Mathematics Application and Interpretation at least)
Any good career for A level school leavers? I enjoy business and economics but i find accounting hard. Maths in between interms of difficulty level
Donāt freak out about past papers, you havenāt done the subjects yet. Go through the syllabus and a very brief flip through of the TB
hereās the thing, iām finding it difficult to write 8 mark questions for eco in igcse, and i can manage business because i know i can but iām not sure if i can manage psychology
hiii. guys iām planning to go for either a career course in business or business IT, i have to choose my subjects accordingly for IB - so, this is my current choice . someone, please advise ā
- Eng Lang and Lit at SL ( i will have to take about 5 other exams - TOFEL, ILETS, SAT, ACT etc. so i think i can take eng SL). 2. Physics SL (just want to keep my options open ). 3. Business / eco SL 4. Business / eco at HL (someone please tell me if eco is more imp or business for the same i wrote above . iām sooo confused šš) 5. IT at HL(can someone tell me what techno subject is good in IB design and technology or just IT). 6. Maths AA at HL
ok so i have a bit of a conundrum
i had taken pre medical subjects in my a levels (bio, chem and physics)
and i gave my country's medical entrance exam
i got into a med school
(classes haven't started yet btw)
and now the whole admissions process of med school is over im realising how much more interest i have in space and astrophysics
I've always loved physics in my o levels and the interest fell a bit in my As
for a career in business, i think business is more important

but in my A levels, studying physics was the most depressing thing ever. I don't know whether it's because of the fact i like the theories not the math or if it's because of the whole corona thing and i how much workload i had to go through at the end because of how the schools were closed throughout the year
i LOVE biology and chemistry don't get me wrong but space and stuff is a lot more interesting to me
now i don't know if i should continue my med school journey or if i should try applying for astrophysics. What if im just miserable studying physics just so i can do the one cool thing i like
i just don't know man

also in biology i prefer more in depth stuff like the workings of the immune system, biochemistry in general and hormonal pathways but generally HATE body stuff like anatomy and physiology (this is all based on what little i studied in a levels ofc) and my interests lie more on research side
i know doctors do dabble in some research and some specialties mostly do research (especially the ones based around pathways and not overall body stuff) but what if im miserable doing medicine as well
i don't know what to pick

F for u
hahaa lol same
but I dk either
hello anyone studying in germany dm please i have some questions

hey got a question
so a minor is a side degree you can take with your major degree right?
all these applications are asking which major im choosing
if im admitted
do i get to choose a minor then?
not which minors im interested in. Only which majors im choosing
@slow widget
different unis have different policies but in general, a minor has less credits, so like if a major has 76 credits, a minor will only have 18, and yeah you can choose to do a minor
if i'm not wrong it depends on the uni and country
like
in india we don't have minors in a lot of places
but in the us you can do a minor
correct me if i'm wrong someone
i need some assistance , im gonna apply for harvard the end of this year but i dont have any honors/awards , how do i get some , my school doesnt have clubs and stuff like that

i want some advice on the igcse's for my friend
ask the question
and someone will answer
@small turtle my bad mate i know its not the channel for it but i dont wanna use my ping and ping loads of people for such a stupid question but long story short AMU is the same as Ar value innit?
bruh
u couldve asked this in the chem channel lol
well ik but its too stupid to ping ppl for it
nahhh
so i was literally looking for ppl online to ask
come to #as-chemistry
alright sure
I am going to write my igcse's at the end of this academic year I am trying to drop Design Technology the school is not letting me I have to do an extra subject Any advice? ( in addition I only do double science not triple )
FR
There reason is that I am doing dt for a whole year and they told me that you have been doing it for a long time so you should take it
Is it possible to convert E in As to b in A2??
question here!
is a degree in information technology somewhat similar to software engineering or does it just have its core principles?
or is there something i dont know off
i just wanna know if it have any small or big differences
I think youre better off retaking the AS

Does e in as of physics need to retake for taking cs courses??
Depends on what uni you want to go to and their requirements, but most likely yes you might need to retake
Could be done better in A2 too
Again it depends on what grade the university needs, if you believe you can get a really great score like 90-95+ in A2 Physics, you might be able to bring your average up to like a B
i can't afford to go to the uk for medicine cause they have an exorbitant fee. where do you guys suggest i apply for undergrad medicine (MBBS)? my home country is not an option
question here!
is a degree in information technology somewhat similar to software engineering or does it just have its core principles?

i just wanna know if it have any small or big differences
Thanks for info
you could look at the curriculum and syllabus of each stream from a university to see if any of the classes overlap
would it be possible to enter a marketing job with a management in information systems degree (bonus points w/ a minor in marketing)?
Hi, I need help reconsidering my career choice (with the fact of me getting a C in AS math). I really wanted to pursue actuarial science but it seems unlikely if this repeats in A2. So to prepare for the worse, can anyone advice for any alternatives?
Resit for AS maybe? I've seen some unis even require an A for Maths, and if you're not fond of maths especially statistics it's not advisable to take actuarial science as it can be quite daunting since it's like a whole new ball game
Iād rather avoid resitting for AS and rather dedicate my resources on getting the best possible mark at A2. I really enjoy math, itās just that last year was a cluster fuck that lead me to getting a C. Iām typically an A student. So Iām confident that I can get an A with my A2 results. Iām just planning for worst case scenarios.
AS grade is 50% of your total A level, if you know your component marks you can work out roughly how much youāll need in A2 to get an A.
From that you can decide if itās realistic
@small turtle
E grade in As and B in A2 will i get C in A level ??
ohh
i suppose of it's a pretty high B and E you might have s chance idk
you can add up the component marks and check
Hi there everyone
is anyone here pursuing a degree in actuarial science? I have been doing a lot of research these days. Is actuarial science rly so tough for most ppl? At least that is wht I have heard from many graduates
what is that?
i heard biological sciences is the best field ..
the dna/rna
nd stuff
oh
Ionno why I kept assuming it had something to do with fish
Also I have short listed future ventures to seven fields lmao

What can I do if I do not meet the English requirements for university?
yea i know right, its probably that one single thing that pisses me off. i reccommend finding a university that doesnt require any english scores or another way is to retake the test
..............................................................
sorry for changing the topic does IGCSE's english test count from this as well?
Nope I need to pass AS English with flying colours
I passed IGCSE English language ( C grade)and English literature (B grade)
im talking about the image below btw
Yeah ik what that is. It does not count.
oh really
Since I would be a domestic student
what is it then?
AS English Language or Literature with at least a D grade
For domestic students
For international students it is allowed
so its an AS eXam
Yeah I think I might fail AS
work hard and you should pass
I tried reading the book and the plot is so complicated ngl
I tried my hardest for IGCSE and even got lucky with exam questions but still I probably scored around 45%
I did get A*s in the others and have already met the requirements for maths
as long as you have an AS English teacher/tutor who's Cambridge trained and knows what kind of essays get good marks, you should be fine
What can maths physics economics Get me?
For A level
Well our guidance counselor wants to give me Compsci,DT and Economics
Which I find outrageous and donāt want
I'm stuck choosing between MUFY, A-Levels or AUSMAT
MUFY: only if u r fond of getting into Monash/some private universities do accept this qualification/accepted by some Australian unis/ coursework (70%) and exam (30%) if not mistaken/ approx 1 year/ specific course selection/ eng will be required
A-levels: aiming for top unis in the UK and around the world/worldwide recognition/fully examination based/approx 1.5 years/wider range of choices (not so specific)/3-4 subjects or more
AUSMAT: accepted by Australia and some private universities (and other countries like Germany)/ 50 50 coursework and exam/ approx 1 year/ english as a dialect or first lang eng will be required
I did have one for IGCSE
I tried literally what they told me to write in the exam
Didnāt work for IGCSE
do not click on it
Is there any good opportunities for economics majors? i don't really like accounting but i enjoy economics and business
I study in Pakistan and am currently doing my IGCSE though receive mediocre grades in the national subject 'Pak studies' which is national geography and history, If i receive such grades in my finals, bringing down my average, will foreign universities be bothered or will they mainly focus on other subjects for example sciences, maths etc
no, i got 7A*s out of 8 subjects but a stinking B in Hindi (I'm from India, although I'm actually south Indian) but people told me not to worry and subjects that aren't important in college won't matter
just make sure your A level subjects or 11th and 12th grade subjects are related to what you wanna study somewhat in college and get good grades in them
do well in math and other core subjects for IGCSE
yeah i have been doing great in them
then you're chill
and am unsure if for my future thus i kept all subs and its going well
aight ez dub then
yup that's the best
cause if i dont like a sub i can just drop it later on than take it if i had dropped it prior
Hi, I'm in Zimbabwe, currently doing IGCSEs and I hope to finish O Level and go straight to an ivy league uni like Stanford. Is it possible? If so, any tips?
You mean finish A levels right
O Level when I'm around 16 and go straight for an undergraduate.
Idts you can, you need to do IB/A levels/AP
Especially in a big university like stanford
@summer sand
How we can get scholarship for uk uni guyz??
If i drop chem in A2 and i have passed in that subject in As then what will it be considered ?
For the UK they usually only ask for full a levels
3 full a levels excluding general paper and thinking skills
you need to do a levels or IB before going for undergraduate
where can i find those scholarships
If i complete As in m/j 2022 and can i complete A2 in oct/nov 2022??
No
AS lasts for a year
yes
but it isn't going to be nice
that's less than a year
I mean retake in m/j and A2 in oct/nov of same year
you can
Holy shit Iām actually r word
My bad you can @broken swallow
I thought he meant 2023 Oct/Nov
wait can you do A2 twice with the same AS grades
like if I did AS in Oct 2021
and then I do A2 in May 2022
but your AS grades are valid till Oct 2022
so can I do A2 again in Oct 2022 if the May ones don't go well
I think they want to improve their AS grade
Youāre asking?
yeah I am asking for myself
guys can I study computer science at University without maths A-levels by any chance
Like ramen said itllbe hard to do that but not impossible. Maybe take composite(all the papers at once) in October November 2021
oh nice
I seriously doubt that, since CS is a lot of maths
probably not
so does even foundation courses require maths A-levels
for entry
Check the uni website
Math is must for comp in uni dude
Yea like you donāt even need A level CS for a lot of unis but you need math
you need maths since the unis assume you havent ever done in your life
yeah I have like QMUL doesn't have any speciifc grade requirements for computer science and they require AAB-AAA if you haven't studied maths or computer science at A-level but wondering whether it would be suitable or not
I really wanna do computer science as well
and even if you get in you'd need to work your life away understanding the maths
if you havent done it in a levels
Depends in the course
How hard is it
if QMUL doesn't require maths for computer science generally the gcse knowledge should be enough
or
should I do a foundation year
if you havent done a level maths its gonna be really really hard
in computer science first
or even AS maths
should I do a foundation year beforehand
Have a look at the course modules
do you not have the option to take a level maths?
yeah and?
I only got a grade 6
needed
a grade 7
for my sixth form
yeah and?
if you're really good at CS then yeah you might cope with it
haven't studied computer science for gcse or A-levels
but id recommend a foundation year
I havenāt researched CS but looking at the modules you should get a pretty good idea of the math involved.
then yeah do a foundation year
because biology, business and psychology have nothing to do with CS
that's fine but I think you should do math
or what the best thing to do is
self-study maths
and take it as a private candidate
maths AS-levels
what about it
