Tho yes alot of inequality exists. This whole capitalism, socialism and communism shit doesn’t work
What problem?
The solution is not have less kids
It’s manage people better
Since you clearly think men should be in those positions, why don't yall go and manage that?
Also adopt.
Since you clearly think men should be in those positions, why don't yall go and manage that?
@shadow tree My mom is divorced, I am 16. I run the house. I do it. And I think every guy should man up.
Men and become shit. I can say that. We have a masculinity crisis
Men have become shit^
I agree that we have a masculinity crisis
But I don't believe the solution is directing women to take a more submissive role
A better way would be to encourage men to step the hell up anyways
But I don't believe the solution is directing women to take a more submissive role
@marsh dagger what is submissive in what I’ve said?
A better way would be to encourage men to step the hell up anyways
@marsh dagger you can’t expect change unless you do both. Why would men want to carry the burden of a family and the finances if people see it as being noble and good and have no rights. There’s no incentive in society to be parents anymore.
so we need to school both
we need to show that incentive still exists
if people don’t see it as^
A question there - how do you see women becoming more receptive to the idea that, if I understood you correctly, motherhood should be their first priority?
Especially considering the societal changes over the last 40-50 years on that front
A question there - how do you see women becoming more receptive to the idea that, if I understood you correctly, motherhood should be their first priority?
@marsh dagger Motherhood should be a communal imperative. I read a great piece on this recently “The appropriate response here is not to pillory individuals for being unwilling to carry the burden of community, but to develop the willingness as a community to build a better, healthier society so people feel the love and drive to keep it alive, i.e. through raising children. Piling on young women for expressing their fears is misguided, even if the language they use to express this is wrong. Motherhood is getting increasingly difficult as the social dysfunctions of Muslim communities compound by the generation, and the paramount social safety nets community provides are slowly torn apart by the invasion of western norms and laws around family, marriage, childrearing, etc.” (https://traversingtradition.com/2020/10/05/motherhood-is-a-communal-imperative
Adding to that, Giving mothers gold status, promoting men and women to do so it’s better for both of them.
@old radish economically, women should be encouraged to work rather than become mothers. It benefits society as a whole.
plus, whats unethical with being a business major?
some people lose and some people win in the game of business, just grow up and face that reality.
just saying, no matter what political stance you are, capitalism is the only legitimate system we have
greed is good, self interest is what advanced us as a species
Okay can I just weigh in here? I completely agree with what @shadow tree and @marsh dagger said because dude you can’t expect women to just stay home and prioritise their home management over work if that’s not what they want to do. That makes us no better than the generations that came before us and have tried to keep women out of the workforce because they were better at “raising children”. That’s just not how it works now, there are so many dads that are transitioning to homemakers while the mothers go out to work and be breadwinners. Gender simply isn’t a factor in this discussion anymore. Sure, sometimes those women who choose to have children may prioritise them over their working life, but there are still provisions made to allow the simultaneous management of a work life and a home life.
We are nowhere near our extinction point if that is your fear, in fact there are some very interesting proposals which state that the environment (Earth) has reached its carrying capacity and any greater increases in population would simply be unsustainable. It is in fact this SCIENTIFIC thinking which must be adopted if we want to survive and thrive with the other populations that we share our earth with.
The society is changing and developing, and regressive thinking will get you nowhere. You should change with the times or they will leave you behind. @old radish would you not want your mother, your sisters, your girl friends to have a choice when it comes to their own lives? Or would you want them to succumb to society’s interests and propaganda and give up their dreams just to fulfill someone else’s dream of them bearing kids?
No, it must be solely the woman’s choice whether or not she is to have kids, and promoting motherhood over a working life is simply biased and may sway the mother’s autonomy in the decision. It is after all her body, her life, her choice whether she wants to work or raise children, or both. You neither have the right to question her abilities, nor to influence this choice in any way, or it will make you no better than the regressive thinkers of the past.
@tiny ridge agreed, liberty is the answer
Idk if i have the energy to weigh in with an essay as well so I'll just say this. My mom did a fantastic job with working and raising me and my brother. It's not impossible. Both my parents worked and they still managed to raise us to become pretty good people.
So it's really about the type of person you are. And ofcourse my mom isn't the only one to praise here, without the support of my dad, im sure she would've struggled much worse. So at the end of the day, just let people live their lives.
@shadow tree yes, but they’ll barely be as good as a man and a women
@old radish don't want to start a debate all over again, but just wanted to point out that this point has no scientific standing, only cultural bias
@old radish to hammer home a point that was mentioned earlier the market thrives when everyone acts in their own interests. It. You are referring to an economics that belongs to Adam Smith, which is just BS rn because that's not how the market works. You'd be better off looking at John Nash's work in that front.
"Motherhood is getting increasingly difficult as the social dysfunctions of Muslim communities compound by the generation, and the paramount social safety nets community provides are slowly torn apart by the invasion of western norms and laws around family, marriage, childrearing, etc.", again I don't see a bell curve supporting this. This is not a question of cultural preference but just straight up facts, nothing more, nothing less.
@crimson willow Adam Smith is still relevant to this day, the only thing that's different is the digital technology of this age. Every single economist uses Smith's ideas as a foundation and rejecting them is plain wrong.
Oh oops my bad, I am no economist shouldn't have gone there, so yeah ig my point doesn't stand then. What about John Nash though?
@tiny ridge have I not repeatedly said for it to be an option? There are very, very few things in the world that are as hard as being Mother. So it obviously should have a higher status than most things women can do.
@crimson willow You think single dads or single moms are better than 2 parents? Or Do you believe Men and Women are equally equipped to take care of kids?
I don't want to cloud this channel any further so don't wish to comment since I feel this will lead us down a rabbit hole
Let's keep things to #career-advice
@uneven cliff thats good for the economy, but worse for society. You promote women to always work, if you succeed. no one bones. Your population is set to gets smaller and if this happens everywhere, poof, extinction
@crimson willow we can change the channel to offtopic discussion, you just have to pic one. I have read studied to both. 2 parents > 1 Parent. Women better than taking care of kids then Men. But if ya busy, np. Take care👍🏻
ehm no? ever heard of life expectancy, its rising. and please lets just end this debate
Agreed, let's end this debate
ehm no? ever heard of life expectancy, its rising. and please lets just end this debate
@uneven cliff a good overview of this can be found in "Factfulness" by Hans Rosling
even if life expectancy is high, if everywhere becomes Japan, who’s saving you?
there is a reason why japan is number in robotics
Guys #semi-colon
just saying, no matter what political stance you are, capitalism is the only legitimate system we have
@uneven cliff Every System has it’s fault. In Capitalism, there’s no regulation on what is ethical income and what is unethical. Like Stock Speculation, Hedging
#semi-colon fellas
society is bad thats what IG english taught me
whites are the problems in our society
AS english taught me white man bad black man good
even though in history it is the opposite
communist is definitely so good, I wonder why there is so many Chinese leave Communist China
this isn't progression, this is the reverse of evolution

hypothetically, if there was a crash
can gender studies take me anywhere in uni

i guess its a waste of time
because its not real science

Hey...is anyone planning to go into data science?
Hey guys. The thing is the only subject I’m interested in is Maths, does a degree in math have good monetary outcomes?
no
only data analysis
otherwise you'll end up a maths teacher or something
and thats a gg
if you like maths,
Honestly, I won’t mind being a teacher if it didn’t require to pay that much cash till a masters/phd and still earn pennies
But I literally gotta do everything from loans
well in the long term if it makes you happy ig you should go for it
teachers can be severely underpaid though
depends what country
If I’m able to get a good degree and a teaching certificate I can earn in gold in the Middle East, and I’ve been raised here so that’s good as well
You might wanna consider countries that pay teacher's well
Here they pay alot for foreign certified Teachers
Or you could enter the tuition industry its quite a good way to earn some cash
The start is x3,4 of what Engineering/Accounting grade make
Depends on countries tho idk how the market is like the middle east but if youbare really good you can really maje a lot
Yess, Mom is a teacher and got laid off during Covid. We’ve been doing even better with only tuitions
you could basically open centres and like eventually just get teachers to teach and run it like a company
The Natives pays aton for private tuitions, they got alot of 💰 MashAllah
Exactly what I was thinking about doing in the future
Lowkey I wanted to do that to but the risk is pretty high too
Lowkey I wanted to do that to but the risk is pretty high too
@thin ivy thats my problem with teaching
If they don’t keep me because I’m a South Asian
They mostly keep Arabs at high positions sadly
But sometimes one can get lucky too
Oh I see how that could be an issue but if u run your own company you could decide
Are you hoping to only teach maths?
The Arabs might not want to work under me, and Kuwaitis might not send their kids here
But my mom says if we provide v good education in the upper middle class range, we can probably get students to come
the schools which do really well are out of the range of most Kuwaitis and the ones in it don’t give them the bang for their buck that we could
Ah i have an idea for you tho but it would a stretch
@thin ivy throw it at me👍🏻
Let me pm
No problem💯
hmm
in my country
average teacher salary is $12Mil NZD
at least at my school
nvm read that wrong
but its in the millions
private institute
The would love to teach, but if I don’t get into a good uni/scholarship I don’t wanna get underpaid.
Are there south asians at your institute?
No
We're a little bit racist here
Only british and Chinese
Aside from language teachers
Even then there's Chinese Spanish teachers
I'm sure there are South Asians in public schools
But they are very underpaid
They have had protests even last year
I live in New Zealand currently
But I know Japan fairly well
You won't find a good job there unless you can speak Japanese fluently
Or if you do really well in school
And by really well I mean smarter than the typical Japanese person
And Asian countries like China Japan and Korea are a bit next level
That’s like for the very rare case right. Like a very specialized field or something
Yeah if you wanna work in Japan/China without knowing the language you can only work in an English company
As some international coordinator or something
hey guys....if you wanna start prepping for the sat from 9th grade, what we be the best way to approach....(for example if u haven't done trig yet do u take a pretest or directly tackle each subtopic)
You're better off studying first before taking a test if you haven't covered most of the topics yet
Also get the role and head over to #sat-paper for resources!
Thanks much
No worries
Yeah if you wanna work in Japan/China without knowing the language you can only work in an English company
@civic jetty Nah Japan is too xenophobic😂
I’d rather stay here in the Middle east maybe.
Yeah, not worth it
I love it because I am the one who is being racist
china is pretty nice
thats why i do so well in AS english
frogs are the best
also the unis dont mind if you cant speak chinese
Hey so am just gonna ask this, last year our AS grade was predicted, so A2 is going to be 100% of the A level right?
yep
yikes
Thank you
Eventhough thats been answered by CIE, i just feel paranoid everytime i look at the certificate
bruh same
anybody know about careers in motorsports?
hey, I want to do law, specifically a corporate lawyer, and I wanted to ask for advice on subjects to take for A levels
hey, I want to do law, specifically a corporate lawyer, and I wanted to ask for advice on subjects to take for A levels
@north spoke it really doesnt matter
as long as you get the points
i did law for a semseter and honestly it really is just points driven
as they teach everything at uni
Thank you so much
Guys, should I mention I got food poisoning the day of my SAT on the additional section of common app
I have a 1440, my schools median is 1500
Looking for a friend here...
Which is better Software engineering or computer science
Software engineer I think
Computer science imo
Which is better Software engineering or computer science
@visual burrow whats the diff between both?
btw guys anybody knows whats best to do to get a career in motorsports (eg: race engineer, team principle, or other kinda engineers specialized in motorsports)
Which is better Software engineering or computer science
@visual burrow it really depends on what you want to do. They are both taught the same content except one has a couple years longer and has engineer slapped in front of it
But you learn the same stuff
Thank you so much
@north spoke But do take my advice with a grain of salt as each country runs differently and your country might have you take a special entrance exam for law
Do any of you think that being a student-athlete is worth it in college? (if you have the choice)
hey
so i have the option to apply to canadian university dubai after my as levels and then transfer to an affiliated university in canada. Do you think I should move after as levels or finish my a levels and then apply to this university or one in canada directly
just needed some help on this
I mean if you get accepted with only AS levels then why would you want to complete the A levels
my dads like doing A levels would increase qualifications yk but i dont see the difference
my dads like doing A levels would increase qualifications yk but i dont see the difference
@shy vapor either way after 5 years you'll have the same degree
and jopbs dont give a shit about your A levels
@visual burrow it really depends on what you want to do. They are both taught the same content except one has a couple years longer and has engineer slapped in front of it
@wet dune Aren't the courses the same duration
@shy vapor just apply to it after AS and if you get accepted then go for it, if you don’t then just continue to your A levels
okay i get what you mean @solar wadi but having indian dads its kinda hard to convince them
@cold pine hmm
one of my cousins is a student-athlete
going into hardcore athletics will take up a serious lot of time
Yup ik 😔
@wet dune Aren't the courses the same duration
@visual burrow depends on your uni i guess. My uni has software go longer
Anyone doing the TSA or BMAT?
I did the TSA last year
@waxen oyster
which also means I used BMAT papers as a practice
haven't touched the questions in a year tho, so I'm quite out of shape by now
ahh 😬
I want to pursue becoming a commercial pilot and I plan to do it through flight school and degree in the same uni. I start fall 2021.. would it be advisable to go with a aviation management degree right now? Or should I hope that COVID is gone by 2025 and pilots are in demand again?
@stray garden i think its better to get a degree. if you wanna wait till 2025 then my friend you are in the high tide. I saw go for it but depends on your choice
I want to pursue becoming a commercial pilot and I plan to do it through flight school and degree in the same uni. I start fall 2021.. would it be advisable to go with a aviation management degree right now? Or should I hope that COVID is gone by 2025 and pilots are in demand again?
@stray garden if you start now, you'll be out and ready to join the workforce right as things really begin to start again
almost perfect timing
I want to pursue becoming a commercial pilot and I plan to do it through flight school and degree in the same uni. I start fall 2021.. would it be advisable to go with a aviation management degree right now? Or should I hope that COVID is gone by 2025 and pilots are in demand again?
@stray garden Which uni/flight school are you planning to go to? I am asking because I have the same ambition.
@marsh dagger Yeah thats what I was thinking as well... Literally pilots would be in high demand again as COVID pandemic clears up (hopefully)
Otherwise I know that many universities are desperate for Certified Flight Instructors
so I will definitely take that route
@solar pebble I have been looking mostly into Western Michigan University, but others I am applying to are also University of North Dakota, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Purdue University
That is for the United States
and for Canada I plan on applying to University of Waterloo
Hey. So I am here because my Alevel exams ended and I am going to prepare for uni. But I have no clue what I should study in. Like I did a lot of research but even then I am still not clearly sure what to decide. So please help.
I took phy, bio, chem and maths in Alevels. Now here's the thing, I had to take phy and chem because my mom literally made me do it. I am not interested in either of phy or chem. Like I understand phy better than chem but not genuinely interested.
I love doing maths even though it can get pretty hard, but i am okay with it atleast. And I enjoy learning bio but I don't want to go for the med line because I feel like I know that although I can try to cope with the immense pressure of studying and remembering so much, but I wouldn't want to do it. I don't want to be a doctor basically.
So after researching and all, I found out that I might be interested in engineering. Like I came to know about coding and all that, as my friends are doing engineering. So they were explaining to me abt what they are studying. So I am literally confused.
Is there anything I could study that combines bio and maths, but not related to becoming a doctor or sth. Like Idk I am not probably using the right words to explain, since med line doesn't only involve becoming a doctor.
If anyone could help suggest or recommend me things I could look into to make my decision. Please
bioinformatics?
it's the closest thing you've got given your options
sometimes bioinformatics involves a lot of physical chemistry
It involves physical chemistry?
Ohno nope
😂
I am literally shit at chemistry
@frozen swan
If there's not much to choose from anything combining bio and maths, and I were to opt for engineering. What would be the best option for me? Like there's lots of engineering. I researched abt software engineering and another one i forgot
engineering's fair enough
Also, I am highly interested in learning different languages. But I really dont know if there's anything related to that. And also my mom would def be against it lmao. Since she thinks it wouldn't lead me to any jobs in the future
just avoid anything that has the word bio combined with maths
because it'll definitely contain physical chemistry
I have no idea
HAHAHAHAHA
to begin with
HAHAHAHAHAHAH
I don't even know you
😂😂
as a person and academically
How does it help if you even knew me as a person. Academically you could count me as an average student. But I believe I would have been a better student if I didn't have subjects like chemistry to learn at Alevels.
if I know you as a person
I'll know what your interests are
from the sounds of it, I don't exactly think you'll like to study engineering at a higher level
so if I insist you go onto the engineering path
I'm screwing you over
having no clear preferences is very risky
I am literally lost
Like I have no clue
Like as if studying all those subjects did me no good lmaooo
Is there anything related to only maths
talk to people who worked in accounting
pure maths
@frozen swan but what kind of jobs would it lead me to
Okay I was expecting, very few. I will google about it then
talk to people who worked in accounting
@frozen swan I literally have 0 people to go ask around.
This is the reason i am heree lmao
and I am virtually identical
I never touched a letter on finance
nor anything outside sciences and engineering
but still
if you find maths to be difficult
I would strongly advise against pure maths and statistics
I wouldn't wanna go for all maths. I might need to research on subjects outside science and engineering then.
you definitely should
THE WORLD SOUNDS SO AGAINST ME LMAOO
you'll figure it out, just breathe, one step at a time
financial math has a lot of stats btw, but it does lead to a lot of jobs
plug but not plug, check out the get 2 uni episode from last week, it was about studying math
I hope anyone here could let me know more on the fields related to non-science subjects. Would greatly help. I will look into it myself too. My brother's studying on that field lmao but we aren't as friendly so he wouldn't take his time to explain to me
you'll figure it out, just breathe, one step at a time
@shadow tree Thankyou! I am trying to aaaaa
financial math has a lot of stats btw, but it does lead to a lot of jobs
@shadow tree I will google all about it and find out as much as I can.
yep
I hope anyone here could let me know more on the fields related to non-science subjects. Would greatly help. I will look into it myself too. My brother's studying on that field lmao but we aren't as friendly so he wouldn't take his time to explain to me
@quartz plover whats your brother studying?
Idk exactly. But he has one year left to be done with uni. He was studying sth related to business and finance, but then my mom was talking abt how he shifted to economics.
I dont know about it in details
Just this and that
Okay no, he has one year left to be done with his bachelors I think.
So its probably BBA, they say?
@shadow tree
Hey guys....how many igcses shld u take....rn i have 7.. i dunno if thats too less or just
yeah....subjects
Ye 8 would be better becos it has more variety it depends
And I depends usually
Becos if u are u good at studies then more than 8 is fine
And another thing choosing subjects? Refer ur ambition and what u like i mean ur interests
So what are the seven u chosen
@lost iron
If you know what course and unis you wanna apply to, you can see their requirements
👍 ok
hey guys does anyone here take molecular biology or virology?? im curious to know more about it
or know anything about it, please @ me
So what are the seven u chosen
@soft pasture
Math
Combined science
Accounting
Business"
Economics
French
English
@lost iron take ict as a subject becos it will be useful in future
@lost iron I take
Accounting
Business studies
Economics
Maths
English
Computer science
Religion
Fashion and textiles
Fashion and textiles
@soft pasture that’s opptional
Is anyone doing anything related to law?
Just wanted to leave this here, because this guy's videos are soooo helpful.
Anyone here doing mechanical engineering? Please ping me thanks
any girls planning on going into tech/stem?
Anyone doing Aerospace Engineering?
I know a guy doing aero irl, if you want me to ask him something
Is anyone doing Physiotherapy or sports therapy
I know a guy doing aero irl, if you want me to ask him something
@shadow tree Does he do pilot studies as well?
Not that I know of
what subjects shld i take in college to get into computer science universites
cuz im told that students with higher amounts of subjects are preferred over others by my mom
if thats not tru im losin it
idk tho, I take like 6 subjects and the 6th one is actually a backup credit in case any of my science subject fail
B R U H
xD but I think your mother is actually right
cuz im told that students with higher amounts of subjects are preferred over others by my mom
@merry sparrow maths physics
A humanity subject
idh humanities tho
And it’s strongly preferred to have further maths
Or any essay subject
wha
You have to look
At the specific universities
But usually it’s
Physics and maths required
And further maths is strongly recommend
kk
hey guys should i take world history next year
im in year 10 rn
IGCSE
or computer science?
depends what ur planning to do later on
i wanna go to medicine
but im confused
engineering is another option
i take all sciences atm
if u want to do and enjoy smt related to history, then definitely world history
however I think it would be an advantage if u take cs, since the world is going more robotics than anything
well if engineering then computer science seems like a better option, it's needed more than world history
if u like history, u can always use online classes outside school, or youtube
yh
it's all there on the internet now
np 🙂
For IG, you can very easily do both
kk
after bio, chem and phy, what are some good future proof majors besides mbbs and dentistry?
I have interest in bio, physics and maths. Im really lost on what career psth i should pick
My goal is mainly neurologist but i have no interest in chemistry
Can someone please suggest me something. I am currently giving igcse 10 boards
Pls tag me and help me out. Ill really appreciate that
i can relate so much with ya
im year 10 too and i have no interest in chem
and i want to do medicine
Sometimes you need to do something you don’t like in order to get your dream job
Very few universities accept people for medicine without chemistry
Yeah @golden bear is right at the least do it for igcses but it'll be hard without doing it for A levels as well
maybe take psychology to help bolster your application but you kinda need chemistry
Im currently doing Chemistry Alevels and i really hate chemistry but I kinda need it so im trying my best because thats all i can do but really actually trying helps
also maybe try some place that isnt as conventionally popular for university such as netherlands as a few netherlands universities will give you study material you need to learn from and do an entrance exam so if you research maybe you can find something like that but dont count on that saving you especially because they might still have you learn chemistry in uni as part of your course
also idk abt physics but bio has a lot of stuff that makes SIGNIFICANTLY more sense when you also studied chem like its a huge help in a levels
There's is a fair amount of biochem in year 1 medicine
And biophysics
Or just proper mech type of stuff depending on the uni
also biostatistics so a background in math would be helpful
oh ok tysm
Hey guys ... can someone tell me how is bachelors in comp science different from that of software engineering ? And for a guy like me who likes programming ... which one should I choose ?
Hey, im in my eleventh grade and just about to take my igcses in 10 subjects, but i want to become a lawyer (or something with politics), because the subjects i most enjoy are english and economics, but im not really sure about my carrer choice. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
hasanabi O.O
Anyone going into the Cs path and doing A levels?
What are good A levels for Csc?
3 A levels and some cool extracurriculars
Or just 4 A levels and not as much cool extracurriculars?😂
Phy, Math and Fmath or
Math, Fmath and Csc
For computer engineering?
Are you not raking english?
what do you wanna do in the future
I would recommend you to take computer science related stuff on your own while keeping other things open ( if you are just looking into cs)
If you have decided then i think what you are doing is fine @old radish
into accounts but little undecided
I need some help related to scholarships
scholarships for uni?
Not at A levels
Not totally sure about Csc. But I know I like Math and I can Physics incase to keep the Engineering Side open.
I find Economics cool but it’s only recently that I’ve looked into it. Didn’t take any business sub at IGCSE and too hesitant to dive into something that I haven’t done before mid year.
So I think Phy, Math and FMath then
Can somebody tell what a daily life looks like of a data scientist
Sitting and coding most of the time? like please guide me on this if anyone knows
wht do u wanna do?
Is biomedical engineering a good career?
Yoooo
Anyone doing physics or engineering here??
In the future is comp science more secure in terms of pay and job compared to engineering??
work at ZNotes 😎
There are much better options
yeah]
@prime raven why ??
pardon?
Ok
lol
guys
is CIE AS level harder than Edexcel AS level?
ive been told its much simpler to do edexcel, but my school does cie.
should i convince my teacher to let me do the edexcel paper?
i do maths stats bio chem and geog btw
Oh man CIE is definitely harder than edexcel
edexcel's grade boundries are much much higher than CIE
nah
Depends on where you wanna work. A mixture of both probably even better, I'd say if you can do a double major.
Anyone can give an opinion about biotechnology?
I personally think it sound like a pretty interesting career
especially since it is STEM, I would encourage it?
fuiyooo biotech weyh
If u r interested then just go for it xD
do you need A-level chemistry to become a psychologist?
and what A-levels would be optimal in becoming a psychologist
better check the uni programs to get the idea. I did that. Otherwise I would be stuck with bio while architecture programs ask me to show them an A level with maths hysics and Chemistry
so basically, you need to check what unis require
then you get into a program., get a degree, and get a job
anyone know about BSc Social Development and Policy?
anyone know exactly what alevels you need for undergrad medicine? :)
im p sure the university require the subjects but its usually chemistry
ik that you need chemistry but idk if i should take bio or physics
like one of those 2
like which one would look better on a application
Definitely bio @gaunt quartz
from what I’ve seen, most unis require Chemsitry AND Bio, and either maths/physics
plus bio is much more related to medicine I’m sure you’ll find it very interesting
ahh thank u - i love biology i just didn’t know which one was more applicable
i'd recommend physics over math, even though math is nicer
because one of my friends doing medicine in poland has a fair bit of physics in first year
bio physics and chem
Yeah I dont think he needs math for this
My school has the meducal group in A levels taje chem physucs and bio as obligatiry. Maths is for the engineering group
though this sort of thing can depend on the program, i doubt medical kuds need to learn nath in A level
PCM
Like I mention above
Physucs Chemuatry Maths
My school makes those compulsiry for engineering group in A level
PCM is gold
rly thanks ( i’m a she tho lmao ) 😂
No problem
hey everyone, do y'all think taking bio ONLY without chem in A levels work?
i’m pretty sure you can take just one science but it may depend on ur school :)
i want to do biomedical science (not engineering) , and I didn't take physics at A levels, is it possible? cause it says pcm or pcb on most college websites :((
Depends on what you do but I’m pretty sure that chemistry is more important than biology if you wanna do something medicine related
can some one suggest me subjects to become detective?
first you have to become a police officer so basically you need to have at least a high school diploma - and some would want a college degree
if you want to be a detective in america then you need
btw i adore your pfp yagami light :))
Unless you're going to Egypt no, because it's not only about the content, unis also want to know you can handle the workload
As far as I know that is
Why Egypt?
Idk I have Egyptian friends and their requirement for medicine is just A* at bio a level and 7A* IGCSE
why thank you :3 i love death note
ikrr!! i frikkin loved it to death
tbh i never read the manga but i loved the anime. my all time favorite anime, next to konosuba and attack on titan
Hey
So um
I just want to do IT as my career
So what subjects should I take and focus on during A and AS
omg you should rly read the manga :) my favourites are death note and assassination classroom
holy..... you know assasination classroom too XDXD
7A* in igcse waaa
lol sure or not? cannot be 😂
whats PCM????
physics chem math
Are fields in computer science / engineering or anything related to computer science getting saturated quickly
What do I need for a kinesiology degree ?
I've always wanted to do something involving fitness
And sciences
Bio interests me the most
Anyone got sumn advice lolz
You thinking more of gym fitness that kind, or the recovery physiotherapy kind?
Gyn fitness
Ooo then I don't think you need a full bio-related degree to do it?
(but I may be wrong, someone in the field pls correct me)
those people were probably forced to go into it
medicine is very very hard but it’s also really interesting
So it’s better to look else where?
is comp sci the only thing that'll get u employed now adays?
aight
i hear they need tons of doctors too
Nope
yes the no of people doing CS is increasing rapidly
but the demand for talented CS people is increasing just as much if not more, especially with the pandemic massively increasing the extent of technology's use in our work and day to day lives
Yeah oops 8 sorry
8A* damn
damn

the world really isnt for the dumb huh
and thats why im getting nowhere in life 😹
Hahahhaa cries in quadratic formula rn
😭
For taking a course in mechanical engineering, do you think IB chemistry is helpful or will IB computer science do???
ib computer science
Please @ me on this one. I really need some advice.
Okay so, I'm not exactly good at science (IGCSE Phy, Chem, Bio) or math. I was better before, but not anymore. I honestly don't feel like science is the right stream for me. But, I really adore Psychology (or do I? I really don't know) and I kinda want to learn more about the subject. I don't know, still trying to figure out if I want to spend the rest of my life studying this particular subject either. Due to current situations, I have to switch from IGCSE to CBSE after my board exams. I really don't think I can go for science stream. I was thinking if I can choose Arts & Humanities (since it also provides Psychology, from what I've seen) or Commerce (I'm kinda interesed in this because it deals with accounts and stuff. I don't have to learn the quadratic equation every single time I guess) after studying 11th and 12th. It seems more... idk, reasonable? What should I do? I don't know what to do 😭
at the end of the day homie, youre gonna get a career in whatever you route you go with, so go with what you like doing more
cuz if u working a job you dont like doing or arent interested in
its a waste of time and all the effort u put in
I know, but I honestly don't even know which path to choose
the one you want to do
hm...
which u implied is pyschology
yeah
but im not even sure about that now, because of the chemistry and biology part
it just seems so hard
fax g im facing the exact same struggle rn
and i dont know if im capable to get grades i want
but i just gotta keep my head down and work hard
cuz ik physics and chem are hard asf
but in order for me to get the career i want i just gotta work hard and put that extra effort
what;s the career you want?
if you really truly want something you gotta work for it
geoscience
oooooh
well not career but thats the uni course i wanna take
where do you live? if it's not too personal
saudi arabia
because where i live, i didnt really get many options
neither was i taught about all this
oh so u arent going abroad for uni?
i want to
im doing my igs here
im switching boards because the sciences are too hard in igcse
and the math, whew
i'll dm ya
ok
oh nvm
im taking
- bio
- chem
- phy
- business studies
- french
- english
- math
because the staff at my school are limited
aight so what do u intend to take once u finish IGs
Cuz id suggest focusing on those
and whatever is less important just try get an A maybe a B
cuz like if u find sciences hard and u wanna do them youll need to focus ur time on them, meaning like straight As will be much harder to achiev
yeah..
i know many people who just got straight As on the subjects they needed and aimed for Bs for the rest
but i can go for a different stream once i finish my school, if im correct?
and they did well and shi
oooh
yes if the subjects fit
so if i go for like
and youve done well w subjects required
humanities or commerce
then yeah u could go that stream for sure
but will bs be enough?
math?
and english?
goddamn i actually like cie but india's education system is trash
For IG at least you need minimum c in English and maths to pass
i believe in you too stae
If u need help w some stuff dm me
I wouldn't mind helping you if I can find some time
(:
lol ikr but like at least ig is better than cbse and shit. those ppl legit end up memorising evrything like even math sums and english comprehension passages frm their txtbk
It looks different tho cause the people I know in CBSE just score As and A*s
Lol, yeah CBSE is weird. Their early stuff is wayy easy compared to CIE, but their later grade stuff ramps up in difficultly so fast...
And of course most of it is memorisation.
You need to have a couple of hard drives for a brain for that board
fr tho 😂
true like the physics stuff wtaf
Mmhmm
what are the recommended AS topics if I were to take the architect path in uni?
I think DT
its usually math, one science and design and tech
or at least some sort of designing i dont think it needs to be design and tech
tho its not must its just recommended
in my opinion going with DT and math/physics should be enough
hey so im doing alevel further maths and im really struggling with m3, would it be possible for me to do D1 instead of m3?
this is for edexcel ial btw
ohh okay thanks thanks
np ❤️
Hello guys. Does anyone here want to become an Airline Pilot?
or a degree in finance
what about a 3D animator
hey guys, i just want to know could i survive a bachelor of science (computer science) with just having completed as (not a2)?
you probably could
most bachelor CS courses assume you have no previous CS experience, so they start from scratch
A2 will make your life in first year easier, but its far from a necessity
anyone keen to give me some help
@marsh dagger thanks! also, will a2 subjects like math and computer science make it easier?
Certainly, in fact decent grades in A2 math is a requirement for a lot of them
And A2 CS will make the first year much easier, at least here in the UK
i have a similar question but regarding medicine
will i survive med school with AS math?
Most probably but it all depends on the entry requirements of the uni since most of them require Bio, chem and either physics or math
i see i see, thank you
anyone pursuing a degree in finance?
Will i survive a level of any language?
Anyone know websites or people who have records of universities and their info like fees, requirements etc
Shouldnt be that hard as long as you practice enough and make sure it doesnt affect other subjects
smart enough
someone asked me for this but i forgot who
yep me
Mannn
Anyone here
I'm really confused if I should major im engineering or economics
I have to write my essay asap
well it really depends on what your passionate about
if your passionate about either economics or engineering shouldnt be a problem writing an essay bout it :)
Im taking my A levels in Math Physics Chemistry and economics. What career options do I have?
Pretty much everything except medicine
Oh okay
Maths, Physics, Chem is a pretty universal combo
Yeah I have no interest in medicine anyways
Fair
Not sure, check the requirements pages of a couple universities and confirm
Okay Most universities dont have specific subject requirements
FOr non science degrees
Which countries are you looking at?
Ahh they generally aren't too specific
You'd have to reach out to them to know
Usually they shouldn't need anything too special though
Oh okay
can i get good career advice here
i'm a tough case to give advice to
Guys , any1 knows a good website where u can search for unis etc. and not just googling it all
search for the Cambridge recognition search
is there a website that tells you what you can do with your subject choices
Yeah there is: https://www.theuniguide.co.uk/a-level-explorer
thank you🤝
hi
hello
Hello, Im currently in AS doing Psychology Biology Maths and Economics, and Im thinking of pursuing a career in the psychology field. When i first was choosing the course i was thinking, oh well, i mean economics fits. But now i've realised its much more than that and i don't really like the course (tbh mostly bc of the teacher). Do you guys think I should just drop econ? Cause im thinking like, if IB students can handle 6 subjects how come I can't even handle 4
I do economics self study and I mainly rely on youtube so maybe you try learning the content by yourself and then decide later whether you want to drop economics or not.
Heyo guys im having a really hard time trying to figure out to do A lvls or Ausmat.
plzz help i feel like im gonna die :c
wowow sameeeee hahaha. where r u from?
guys
si
can anyone help me with the common application essay?
some tips or maybe links would be appreciated
i will help you
please give tips then
Okay so
A considerable part of the admission decisions made by universities depends on the personal statement. But amidst misinformation and systemic inequalities, access to guidance for the same lacks for many students. ayy thanks
Hope Covid situations simmer down before I leave to uni
wdy guys think I should do? give all my a levels in one go or split b/w 2 years?
it's gonna take 2 years either way
omg yesss i hope so too
Split. I don't have a choice and now our school's doing linear: both as and A2 exams at the end of sixth form
Guys im in bit of a dilemma
Im keen to study phy, chem, acc (bit weird) but i dk what to choose for AS
@muted matrix depends on what you want to be
also, like i chose accounting, business and comp.studies so what exactly would i become in life, sounds dull but ye :/
Ok so I have 2 things that I like equally : electrical engineering and becoming a doctor
One has a high fees and high no. Of years and the other is according to people in my family not reliable to get a job in my country
So now am torn between the two
Advice plz?
Electrical engineering will get you a job for sure lol its a perfectly safe option
Be a neuroscientist who studies brain circuitry 😉
What kind of laptop does one need for engineering( if you don't know which one you might choose)?
What's the safest option(or recommended specs)?
Do you need one?
you definitely need a laptop for Engineering
go for something which has quite a bit of memory, and usually the unis tell you which software's you need for the courses, so get a laptop which supports that
Like for example, I have a mac, and the software used in my course isnt supported on a mac
so make sure you research which specs you need for the course
I'd say:
8-16 GB of RAM
4 Gigs of VRAM
Any processor above 3.5 GHz
Make sure you have either a lot of HDD or a small SSD with a portable HDD
Yeah that's fine I think
And I meant if you don't know what kind of engineering
what about 3 Ghz
That should be fine but mind you most good PCs that I've seen seem to cross 4
PC is hardware box that you see in school
Apparently this kind of laptop is good or ok for engineering
Thanks
The other options are macs
Mixed reviews for the macs (for engi)
when do you go to uni
okay
@crimson willow @potent violet
Don't universities normally have places for computer use?
Buying a laptop is convenient but not too necessary right?
(So I dont get too stressed about whether or what to get)
why is a laptop needed for university
They do but it's best to have one for yourself to work on things and that's also why you want have a portable one
not everyone has the money for it
Essays, assignments, data analysis and more recently, class
Agreed but it's necessary at this day and age
the same reasons you need a laptop now + many more :)
isn't a desktop enough
You said engineering right?
So basically you need to have a laptop on you for projects, programming stuff and keeping it is just so helpful for your work experience and cv
8GB
1TB HDD
3Ghz
Should I search for something with these specs or something or different?
it comes down to personal preference. Many students like to take notes in lectures and classes. You cant take a desktop to class.
Portability
this seems fine
^
Also, the cost really depends on the build
It neednt be 8 GB , 4/6 works just fine
Hp Pavilion? Or something along those lines(windows stuff)
(Not literal windows)
I am starting to feel ancient
I got this trash smartphone I have in my a levels with a lot of reluctance too
What? That is barely sufficient for matlab
Fr?
na bruv things can get very laggy very quickly if you run matlab
Exactly
^this?
Oof
I mean yes and no
I know thats a joke but its considerable option
It's okay for a starting point
But you'll need processing power
So what do u recommend
Predator?😂
But I dont need to worry about picking the wrong laptop and facing the consequences, do I?
Like not being able to do a certain assignment because the uni computers are bad
^
@crimson willow @potent violet @slow widget @fleet carbon
Thanks everyone
no prob
np
np
Anytime mate
Really depends on your priorities
About enjoyment its about the same for both
ahh
For priorities, i value my personal time more than work time but the way as work goes one can be independent and the other is like working for a person i suppose
And id rather be independent
hmmm
i didnt really do anything
@fleet carbon you asked a question that led to some more info, thanks!
ok maybe im too young for this maybe im too old for this but my plan in the future is to continue my fathers business somewhere else and do better. business in car spare parts modifications and dealing. but idrk what course to pick or how to go along. i want to become skilled at business and really really educated on the topic of automotives and stuff. atm im living with the info that i have to pick physics mathematics and chemistry for next year (as level) and that i have to do automotive engineering? but i found out its for like people who work for designing or manufacturing of cars in factories and stuff. company work. but i only intend to work with companies and market until i have gained enough experience and confidence to initiate my own sales proudly like my dad. he worked for about 23 years before opening his very own shop which is very successful. he was able to make it all work because he worked under a company which sold spare parts for trucks and cars and stuff. he gained experience moved out and did his own thing. i see so many possibilities and improvements in what he does but for many reasons he really cannot branch out or improve much. i want to continue to do what he does but better bigger and at a different place. selling cars spare parts modifications and stuff. so if anyone can suggest or narrow down my paths please help me in this matter as i dream big but know less on the matters of my future. thanks in advance and have a lovely day everyone <3
oh that's nice
hola, what if have comp scinece, business, accounting and ecnomics in my A-levels, what exactly would i be in the future?
Um its pretty risky honestly I suggest you drop one of them and take math
math is required for all of the degrees related to the subjects you take
Good luck!
good luck mate
good luck!
oh wrong chat lmfao sorry
Hi, can anyone tell me the difference between medical biotechnology and biomedical science? I can't really tell the difference between them after reading the overview of both
Are A Levels Worth it?
i suck at maths...rlly badly
Then idk what you can do with those subjects maybe some universities might accept you for business related programs without math
did you actually fail
pretty sure i did haha
heyy i have got a question
what do yall think of this a levels combination: maths econs chem
Its a good combination ig
If you can handle 4 A levels maybe take physics as well thats what im doing
yea try taking physics as well it may open up many more pathways
I think replacing it with physics would be better if you dont want to take 4 A levels
Math physics and economics is a good combination
I see, thanks againn!
yo guys
Are there any A level students here who are preparing for IIT JEE or wrote the exam? If so, do you have any tips on how I should start preparing?
Have you had any form of JEE prep before
Coz from what I hear from my friends who are doing JEE and A levels, you need to have at least 2 years of prep
Oh
Im planning on starting prep right after my AS exams
Is it possible to study over the summer and write the exam next year?
See the thing is that even if you grasp the concepts quickly, the main problem is the sheer amount of portion
Oh
And doing that along with A2 which is also pretty vast, will get very tiring very fast
Oh then It might work
I was under the impression that you might be giving advanced as well
Nope
Im aiming for one of the NITs
Preferably the one in my state so I count under the home state quota
Is the JEE mains syllabus manageable for A level students?
Im also planning on doing BITSAT do you know how hard that is compared to JEE mains?
As long as you're able to manage both in tandem while being able to understand the concepts at a good pace, I think a year is workable
Oh okay
I'm not sure about BITSAT
Oh okay
And is it possible to do it before my board exams in case my board exams are in may june?
My school might be conducting it in May june because of covid
When are you giving A2?
Because of covid we couldnt do the March exams this year coz we couldnt finish the syllabus
if we manage to finish the syllabus early next year then I might do it in march
When is JEE mains held usually do you know?
Ik that this year they introduced multiple slots
Will that be there next year as well?
I think they'll only announce that next year
Oh
I only know that this year it's being held 4 times
Yeah that'll be pretty neat
I heard somewhere that they introduced this to prevent students from taking a drop year or something
I dont get the ranking system though do you know like how much you have to get on the exam to get a specific rank like say under 5000?
im doing A level and NEET together
oh
taking a gap year was an ideal option for me
Oh okay when did you start preparing?
after AS
Ohh
so beginning of A2
Im currently in AS
ah ok
hmm k
why not?
Im just keeping indian universities as sort of backup lol coz of covid
Yeah
id rather go to some university abroad than take a gap year
theres many cheap places
Any examples
THeres many universities in europe which teach in english
and they're pretty affordable
University of melbourne has this scholarship I think it can go up to 100%
you need like all A*s
Also just a clarification, Indian universities require 4 A levels + AS english right?
yep
damn 6 AS levels
But Im planning on dropping one subject out of IT and economics.
which one do you think I should drop
im self studying economics btw
yeah 5 is common
I just took eco extra coz Im planning on applying to US universities as well and they want "well rounded" subjects
Im most likely dropping IT
SO will A2 Math physics chemistry economics be fine for indian universities?
Yup
ye
or do they have a specific requirement for the 4th subject?
no no
oh okay
Yup
