coz i have seen some unis
requiring math and one technical science
that science can be phy chem bio or CS itself
so take one science on top of ict and math
and you should be 100% fine
The UK requires 3 a levels
Is Maths , IT, CS good ?
Fair enough seems good
FM math Phy
Depends mainly on Ur uni preference, check their website. They must have detailed info on this !!
Hlw everyone
I am currently doing A2 and I was wondering about taking a year gap after A levels
Is there any consquences?
1 year wasted of ur life only
Idt so, there are any serious consequences but you might wanna explain Ur gap year, how it helped u develop and all!!
Alright thnx
if you skipped a grade already and are ahead would taking a gap year be bad?
mostly to learn other skills that might help in uni applications
Hi i have a doubt.
What are the A level entry requirements to study accounting and finance in the UK ?
And is studying economics or business more important for my future in accounting and finance. Other maths and accounting. To be studying in the UK
Pls help
Im rly stuck and id love someome to help me through this
Not necessarily although it might help with thermodynamics
Ok
???
Thx

Hello! I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice regarding IGCSE exam. So originally, I decided on 7 subjects, but recently, my friend mentioned that some universities prefer if we have 9 subjects and that his brother regretted not taking more. But I think I already have enough and if I add, it'll be harder for me to manage. However is it better if I add more subjects?
Depends on the uni
Most need 5 technical subs
The technical subjects are you doing maths any of the sciences CS IT or anything else related to a particular field
And as a general rule language subs don’t count towards the 5 technical subs
So keep that in mind and you should be fine
I had only seven subjects in igcse as well and i didnt have any problem applying to any unis, the minimum is 5 so i think you should be fine
it would be better if you did well in 7 than adding more and stressing out on all of them
Agreed 👍
As I said You should have just 5 technical subs and you'll be fine
For the rest of the subjects you can take languages if you want to fill up the seven subjects if you really want to go my route.
which engineering major has =a lot of job options?
mechanical
Thank you so much :))

Guys
UK unis application process closed! 😦
Can anyone kind of guide me on what to do now if I am looking for a foreign uni with bachelors in medicine within 3-4 years?
I heard that a lot of aerospace engineering jobs are taken by mechanical engineers
med requires more than 4 years anywhere Im pretty sure
choose a country u want to practice in after graduation
medicine is not a 3 year course, its 5 minimum
What seriously 👀👀
medicine applications close oct 15
the rest are open until jan 15
Question: Can you take Cambridge international examinations for AS/A levels privately in the UK?
Nobody told me as well😭
Oh yes I knew for med i was surprised when he said they closed 💀
I am sorry man for med they close early
yes. find a centre here.

Find information on becoming a Cambridge school, how to make exam entries, training courses and much more. Visit our website today for information.
if i want to do mechanical enginiering in the future what subjects do you guys think i should choose for as and a levels
pls list
Maths physics and chemistry probably your best bet
If you have CS then do it instead of chemistry
Can someone pls explain the concept of higher education entirely. I have been finding it hard to understand all these abbreviations .
Wdym by higher education??
Also might help mentioning specific abbreviations u have problem with!!
Basically anything above 10th
U wanna know bout high school/bachelors or smth like that??
I think a levels as well
Yes
After high school
11th and 12th is still high school bro
does anyone know if getting a pearson scholarship is really that difficult?
Yeah, it's really hard! I am also applying for it!!
You have to convince Ur counselor first tbh!
I think it's already too late lol since I just found out about it
You still can try for it, ig you still have time!!
Hello guys I was wondering if anyone could give me advice for studying psychology like which field you'll get to work and for studying finance ? Is there many job opportunities
Guys anyone knows any known US uni for medicine which offers schlorships?
NYU has no tuition policy in medical school, but it's really hard to get in. But u might give it a shot if u already have pre med!!
Hi
I plan on going to medical school and i cant decide whther i should choose mechanics or statistics in A level
Which one should i choose
Go for stat for sure, it helps with the research and sara handling!
guys im thinking of giving A level Comp Sci and InformatioN Technoloy
but i can't give them both at the same time although i'd like to
so should i just take one over the other or give both, if it reflects wlel to do both i'd like to
is there any reason why you want to give both of them?
bad idea IMO, I would take something else in IT's place
what career or industry do you intend to pursue?
Can anyone recommend me unis for biotech/pharmacy or microbiology which offer good scholarships
How are predicted grades decided if you give as private candidate?
guys anyone got any idea abt studying in canada and specially after o levels , like what to do if ill move to canada, should i give as level exams only (4AS) ( i cant do A2) , or switch to IB or what plz guys am confused , like if finishing o levels considered as finishing grade 11 in canada wouldnt finishing as mean finishing grade 12
study
quite vague yk
@crude niche do mind maps , active recall and attend all your lessons and be on time
Read How To be a high school superstar by cal Newport that book is a gem
answer to that is simple
OH HAHAHA SRY
theres this pretty cool method i found
after taking down notes either by paper or a device you should read over them
and then get out a notebook
and just blurt out every single thing you remember or can recall while reading the notes
even if its incomplete sentences
and then you read the notes again to check what youve missed or did wrong
and then just revise
just chill at the library while doing it, setting the mood for motivation is also pretty important
i have this notebook called "the everything book" where i just use it for exercises, blurting for multiple subjects
its quite fun tbh
just listen to some jazz or even white noises xd
ooh interesting does it work whats your personal experience and gain from it ?
Tbh i havent actually tried it for like super long but so far its actually working pretty well
I got a lot of stuff done in just 45 minutes
The first time i tried it i was actually surprise by how fast and easy it was to learn the reactivity series
I also went through lectures really quickly, on that day i was trying to learn the rusting of iron (galvanising, electroplating, stuff like that)
And when i just tried to write down whatever i can remember, then i checked my notes again
I got through lessons quite quickly
Dont be afraid to do external researches, it may help you understand the topic better BUT!
YOU GOTTA STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF
While writing down what u can remember, dont look back at the notes, it might defeat the purpose 😅
Marine Biology?
MARINE BIOLOGISTS?!
does anyone know if i can retake my As levels after i take the A level exams?
like, can i take my A level exams in spring of 23 and As levels in winter of 23
Don’t think u can sit as individually after u have sat ur entire a levels
Well, it might be possible but I haven’t heard of ppl doing that
What r u tryna achieve anyway?
i tried doing that
didnt work
take the exam together
Hey I need some advices. I have done my AS in this summer series(2022).I scored a B grade in my Math. I wished to improve it so I did it again in the Nov series 2022 with two other A2 subjects. However, after I finished the paper which is just finished, I feel like I am not improving my math to A grade. I would like to take one more time in the upcoming summer series in 2023.Is it possible to resit my math in another centre without affecting my two another subjects' result.
Guys i am confused can someone help me about Bachelors In business management
Are there any major consequences of taking a gap year? like does it effect university application
guys is doing btec level 3 or foundation good instead of a levels?
Why would you do BTEC
?
i have my reasons lol
at least
im considering
foundation course
and a levels with it
since i cant get the subject i want
What do you want to do at university?
art related subject
or
smt like computer related
You just need a portfolio of work
ik
Doing Art A-levels will help
but i need
to do 3 a levels still
they dont offer arts here
and places who do offer in this country
are too expensive cant afford.
I mean if you do BTEC your only limited to applying to UK universities
really
what about foundation course
and 2 a levels?
i have friends doing 2 alevels and a btec
it depends what u wanna go into,
medicine u need at least 3 alevel, a subject like engineering you can use a btec
it depends on the uni and typa course
Theres no point doing A levels if youre gonna do foundation
Bad advice
y
Because you can’t do foundation year without A-levels
u do a levels to get into uni, but u can already get into uni with foundation
wat
idk how its for u
But here u can do foundation after igcses
To skip a levels
Yes you can do that but it’s really expensive 💀
no advice for me 😔 💔
also is it considered a gap year if you're waiting for a2 results to send applications (around august 2023)
nah it depends on what u do during the gap year
if u don’t do anything at all then it would affect, but if u do stuff that helps ur application then it’s great
and it depends on what u put on ur personal statement ( i’m from the uk so i’m used to the uk rules) and the things u do :)
Has anyone done all 3 AS sciences- bio, chem, physics in the same year?
i did bio chem maths phys
Do u recommend doing it or is it too hard, I wanted to do English language, math, bio, Chem and phys
ive heard a level english is quite hard tbh
i was fine with the 3 sciences and maths but i also had good teachers and had at the very least a vague interest in all of them
would recommend deciding on med or no med
then you dont need physics
Yes but some Australian unis apparently require physics as well and Indian colleges require all three sci subjects
I might just have to take 5 as subjects and then I might drop English and do 4 a2
do as english in 12th i think
india needs you to have english all the way up to the end iirc
@small turtle would know
im not a fan of doing physics without maths but it might be easier to do that
and then learn the maths where necessary
Hmm okay, I'm so conflicted but if I don't do maths and I end up staying in Australia, they won't let Me do med,
Cuz idk I might stay in Australia or go back to India after year 12
what were your IG grades like if you dont mind me asking?
I didnt do ig, i did a board of my school thats mix of ig and the countrys study system, but I got A in eng, math and bio, b+ in phys and b in chem
I had the same subject combo, but including psychology as well!!
And honestly it wasn't that hard, if u stay on track from the first day, comparatively As physics is harder than A2 physics. So u might wanna work harder first year!!
For me personally math was a bit more hard, (maybe cause I bunked a lot of their classes- for legal reasons I didn't say that). It's easily doable cause chem and bio are mostly easy. But u gotta work on math and physics!!
Okayy this makes me feel better, I'll look further into it, thank u!
Gave +1 rep to Konsept#2679
Like when is the best time
It doesn't really matter, I'd recommend doing it early on in A2 so it's sorted for your applications
If you've done IG English, it's so so similar that it barely needs preparation
keep in mind that your IELTS result expires after 2 years
U mean computer science engineering??
Yes
So basically Computer Science Engineering is a course that deals with the design, implementation, and management of information systems of both software & hardware processes. A computer scientist specializes in the theory of computation and the design of computational systems. Computer Science engineering aids with various disciplines such as electrical and electronics engineering, information technology, software engineering, and more.
And then software engineering deals with the software development and all!
Yeah u just need to have it on ur certificate
For Indian unis the requirements are usually 5 subjects
In 12th
so CSE is a more vast subject comparitively?
Basically yeah, ig!!
Is there any difference if you give a levels as private candidate?
no
just the recommendation letters from private teachers are not valued as those of counsellors
Are you from india??
The thing is i was thinking of giving final a levels of maths and chem in may june series but here in india the school ends in feb march so you become a private candidate so i think i still can get the LOR from counsellors
if u get from counsellors.u don't have any problem
it is same
If you do cambridge in india, Where do u apply for uni- like do u stay in India or apply to international uni cuz the fee is expensive
Also what do u study? What courses can u apply to after studying all three Cambridge sciences
I live in nz rn but there's a fifty fifty chance I move back to India after AS level, I'm confused if I should continue doing my a levels or not
if u are planning to go back to India, then alevels are not necessary
if u are planning to go to abroad a levels might be useful
but again it would be hard for him or her to do CBSE or ICSE or STATE cuz language (hindi and state language)
and there are plenty of cambridge schools here
so he or her can do A lvls here in india too
Is taking 4 A-levels stressful?
Hmmm I wouldn’t know 👀
yes
it is
one saving grace in my opinion is that getting into unis is easier
applied to 4, got a conditional offer from 3 of them
just with my AS grades
now waiting to finish my A2 exams and then I have to sort other things like visa and all
Ohhh which ones did you apply to
2 in the UK and 2 in australia
got 1 offer from uk and both aussie offers
if I took 3 A levels there is no way I could've pulled that off so quickly
What were your grades 👀
If you don’t mind saying
AAAB
High As?
I doubt ¯_(ツ)_/¯
So I also got a chance 👀
ye
for entry it was like BBC in 2 of then and AAB in another 😆
scholarship is another beast though
You can for sure make it 👀
hopefully 🙏
mr 5 alevels
holy crap
nice
it's impressive is why
Nah it’s normal say like three more people here who do that
huh
here the max I see from my classmates is 3
only one other guy takes 4 but he's commerce + math
Not trynna offend commerce students but it’s easy tbh
not trynna offend you but it’s easy tbh
lol
Me tooo but with bio 😂
damn
Why it was soo good
But A2 is worse
miss the old as days with no stress
ahhh yes
Lmao still less than final year of uni
Which Is easier/less stressful- English language or literature for AS
which uni of australia?
that would be university of mebourne and UNSW
howd you get unimelb and unsw but not usyd
i could apply with predicted grades of A2 right?
pretty sure yeah
didn't apply
what did score in IElTS
ahh ok
just picked 2 from uncle's recommendations
didn't do ielts, also I picked toefl (which I still have to sort out)
it's another on of the conditions
aussie unis accept English AS General Paper btw
dunno about UK
dont have AS english would they accept ig english tho
they dont even ask for your IG so no
go with IELTS or TOEFL then yeah
should i expect a decent scholarship if i have 2A* 2A and a 6.5 up in ielts
scholarships are pretty rare so im not sure
What is UNSW
university of new south wales
Thx

I need low-key help on anyone who’s had this problem where they have multiple course they want to do but don’t know which one to do but wants to do all of them :/
List them on to a paper include salary, time etc. Which ever one suits u best go for that one
Thanks so much

guys i take all science phys chem bio i wanna continue in medical and more of biology area
for that A levels is required right?
but a levels is so hard and u need a minimum of B in it
and i dont get a minimum of B then what should i do?
You could contact the university your college your applying to . To see if they have an alternative route into the course you want to do because in Ireland there’s an alternative route which is the plc but idk if in other countries it’s disame
If you're gonna be studying medicine, sadly a levels is not gonna be the hardest thing you do
Skipping a levels isn't gonna find you in an easier place tbh, if anything it'd be harder because you're expected to do the same stuff but you're less prepared to handle the stress
i assume you just finished igcse or about to
dont look for what's really easy and good
cause simply there isnt
generally speaking
just do A levels or any other equiv and work hard
okayy thank you everyone
alrr thank u

can anyone tell me about portals for apllying to australia like commonapp or UCAS
I don't think there is any common platform for Australia application, Australia only has uni specific application
any idea ab what subjects i am supposed to take for my A levels if i want to pursue Law in the future?
law,english probably economics be helpful
Should I become a doctor I don't think I'm smart enough and that my memory is also bad
How do you know your not SMART enough if you don’t try?
If you reallyyyyyy wanna become a doctor I am sure you can do it just don’t give up and work hard
Nothing comes easy 🤷♂️
And I think you are igcse in right? So you have some time to study hard and actually change if you think you aren’t capable enough
So don’t be discouraged if you feel like you aren’t capable right now just take it as a motive to drive yourself to become better
In conclusion if you wanna be a doctor go for it with a whole heartedly and I am sure you shall achieve your dream 😆
if u are interested in bio ,try t
don't try it bcz your family forces it upon u
and what if i fail no one considers that possibility
Bruh you are thinking about failing before even trying
If everyone in the world don’t pursue a dream because they think they will “fail” no one would be professionals today nothing would happen
Every field u go in has that possibility tho..
what do u guys think of accounting and finance
hey soo not sure this is the right place but
if i want to get into medicine, what other things can i do outside school that would increase my chances to get into uni?
everyone says volunteering but i live in ksa and there's little to no opportunitites for that here
and uni choices are limited so i need to do the most i can to increase my chances of getting accepted
I think the more you are involved in activities such as competitions and etc other than volunteering, the more they gonna see the potential in you. They do value extracurricular activities so you can reflect on those and mention what you have learned from those experiences in your personal statement/essay. I hope I made it clear
You can do online doctor shadowing and similar things, it doesn't have same impact as physical but after COVID, online shadowing is also considered really good!!!

Hey, I had a question... Is physics or math good majors? and what can physics and math majors do other than teaching?
You can do a lot of things with physics, you can do optics / photonics (also with medical implementations), data analysis/ science, electronics, software development, further research, materials science, quantum technology/ computing..
Is that applicable even if I am more interested in Theoretical Physics part rather than Applied Physics?
Tbh interests change, in Europe quantum computing is more theoretical since they haven't got the big daddy funding like the US
If you wanna do theoretical then research is your thing
yeah, thank you :>
No problemo
Hey! Does anyone have any ideas on what scholarship I can possibly obtain with those grades:
- 8A*s in IGCSE
- 3A*s in A-Levels
I’m planning on studying dentistry in the UK, but, the fees for international students is ridiculously high, my best shot is to aim for a scholarship and cut the fees down. Any ideas on what I could possibly get with that, and where?
https://search-study-uk.britishcouncil.org/scholarship/search-results.html?qualificationid=3&nationalityid=229&pageno=8 you can take a look at this if you want

Hi everyone, so I’ve currently applied to university of exeter, cardiff, birmingham, southhampton and leeds for the accounting and finance program, i am still yet to receive any offer letter, but what one is the best one?
Bachelors in artificial intelligence and data science good?
Ask Eminem or brave about this cause once they were talking about talking cs rather than ai as a major
Because if you do cs
After you are done you can specify in AI
So you have a higher scope if you do CS
Rather than just talking AI
Ye
But since I am not an expert in this @lofty thicket I would say talk to brave or Eminem since they are studying CS currently
Anyways good luck
But imo AI seems cool
@dawn garnet @fresh hornet @rose veldt
AI and DS are big parts of the future going forward yes
but make sure you're actually interested
don't force yourself into a field
That’s true
But I am pretty sure CS has an AI module
Right
Yes
@rose veldt
it does
Oh then @lofty thicket I would personally recommend doing CS because it widens your scope
Since you can do AI in the future if you want
Fair
if you have a bachelor of CS with a concentration in AI that is a good way to go
Ikr
So hope you make the best decision 😆
Ohhh I think my friend showed me this school back in IG he said he wanted to go there
It looked amazing dude
The campus is like a flower right?
It’s not a bad place
Ikr
Btw which site is this ?
I made it lol on notion
So I can also search up my stuff 😂
Link?
Notion
Oh is it just a table
?
Send it 👀
It's pretty great, in Data Science you get to do stuff like Machine Learning and just generally a lot of data analysis using programming languages, and a bit of stats as well so it has a lot of mixing from different fields. AI is something you get to do in the 2nd half of your degree (at least in my uni). If you're more interested in just the programming part, I'd suggest you major in CS instead
See the main reason I'm not doing a CS degree is cus I don't want to do that much programming
What course in which uni you in
I'm doing a BSc in Data Sci and Math (double major)
At university of sydney
Scholarship?
The cool thing about BSc is you have elective space so you can do extra subjects that aren't part of your majors
Nah I'm an Australian citizen so I get their student loan plans and cheaper tuition
Ah right
If I get into this then that'd be good
Yeah then Data Sci is great
Sure, if you're an average math and stat enjoyer then you'll definitely like it, and AI is getting pretty famous now
ML is a lot of fun you'll enjoy it
Ty, was looking at some Australian unis and the requirements not high for scholarships and general admissions
Like legit no mention of ECs
Only academic stuff
Nice
Quite expensive ngl
Hmm
In Sydney, the on campus studio rooms are more that $300 a week
The scholarships I saw all covered tuition and gave like AUS$ 5000 /year
Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane are cheaper
And Melbourne is in between
That's expensive
Yeah Sydney is comparable to London and New York etc
I gtg now, DM me if you want more info and stuff
i have interest in maths and physics so the major i have chosen is mechatronic engineering . But what do you guys think would be better for me . like which would give me a good scope for future
Do you like to build things
Kinda ,not that much but yeah
Engineering is a lot about building things so you might wanna make it your thing if it isn't
ok but what majors do you think are going to be the next best thing
Depends on what you're good at and what you like, we have no idea about those thinfs
I want to study law, but idk much about it...could someone advise me on what i need to do and what i need to know and do before applying to a university? like do i have to give an exam (CLAT for example) to submit to the university? What's the whole package cuz i'm genuinely confused and lost...Wanting to study law was a rash decision cuz I initially wanted to study Interior designing but due to certain circumstances, i can't. so could someone guide me on what I'm supposed to do? I'd really appreciate it a lot!!
Damn that’s cheaper than what rent in NZ for the dorms
Mechatronics engineering is heavily focused on control systems. You will learn about a variety of ways to make cool gadgets and even robots that will be able to automate the boring tasks we do. If that’s something that interests you, you will like it
Hey guys, so I'm interested in physics, and some part of me likes AI and ML as well. This has got me thinking about whether i should do B.Sc physics or B.Tech Computer Science. Please let me know if there are any tips that would help me to decide. Thanks a lot.
When you say you like AI and ML, do you like linear algebra?
Because that's essentially what it is
Also depends how stressed you are on jobs straight out of undergrad
Depends on the university offering course tbh but it does require some knowledge of CS, especially in regards to the hardware side
If u did not study CS, the university will most likely ask you to take an intro to CS course or other course like that in your first year
Guysss should I pursue the accounting feild or the CS feild? I mean I know CS is more valuable
15% growth rate within the next 10 years
A 7% for finance
But idk
Most unis need maths in A level for a bachelors in CS
Which I haven't even started out yet so
Idk
Help
well if u dont have math u cant do it since every Uni that im aware of needs math for CS
if youre alr in a levels and dont have maths, unless you're really into programming already, dont do CS imo
<@&572709257036955649>
@lethal mason has been banned for NSFW Link Spam
our subject options are due in a week -- idk which math to take. i'm good at math, but i'm not great. i'm better at patterns and identifying formulas and communication than actual application of knowledge, and i want to go into computer science. what i'm thinking of taking rn is CS HL, Math AA HL, Business HL, Psych SL, Eng SL, Spanish SL. I have to take minimum 3 HLs out of 6. I also may go the business route which is the reason for Business and Psych. Any suggesions, anyone?
pls mention me if possible if you do give advice if that's fine
if you want to do cs i recommend doing the hardest math course available to you
What can I even apply for with CDC As result 💀💀
have you considered the option to study in malaysia? some of top aus unis have a campus there
the requirements are far lower, the costs are less and you even get accredition from top aus unis
plus they have intercampus transfer programs to aus
thankss

bachelor of science in computer science VS bachelor of science in mathematics and data science
what is the difference, what career options would i have after graduating?
Guys how's biomedical engineering
It's a cool job
The position is high in demand and its got good salaries too
Ohh thx thx
Gave +1 rep to no.body#4804
No problem
But it's not big in all countries
Yes but biomedical engineering is one of the fastest growing engineering fields out there
It is a competitive specialty
ENT is a surgical specialty with a wide range of surgery techniques available. this can include smaller surgeries, but can also include some very complicated and technically challenging surgery, such as removing head and neck cancers and reconstructing the face.
Though i don't have any surgical experience
Make sure you're dextrous before going into surgery
Guys
I'm thinking of studying physics because i really enjoy it, but I feel like there's not alot of money that comes with it job-wise, so I was then thinking about some sort of engineering, specifically chemical or aerospace
I'm not too sure what to do
i wanna do aerospace too
Just be careful about aerospace, since most jobs are in defence, you wanna be studying in your country or somewhere where you qualify to pass security checks
Because if you can't then you can't really do any relevant internships during your degree
oh
oky
Well, there is Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering
Though Chemical Engineering has a very good salary (Like almost around 63797 dollars per year), so does Nuclear Engineering (93311 dollars per year)
Then there's Aeronautical Engineering (2,124,271 dollars per year)
anyone?
guys how's mechanical engineering
or any good career
im doing my igcse and i have maths, triple science and business as my subjects
I think this could be a bit helpful https://snu.edu.in/news/newsroom/blogs-benefits-choosing-mechanical-engineering-course
Mechanical engineering course is a versatile course that by some means affects everyone's life. The course helps future engineers design and build products by applying the principles of force, motion and energy; thus, providing technical solutions to several industries’ problems. The study of B.Tech Mechanical Engineering involves engineering co...
thanks
No probs!
i have applied to bachelors in engineering in Computer science and what i feel is, if you are sure you want to pursue data science in future then go ahead. But if you are unsure like me, and what to explore more then find out- go for computer science. As it provides a broader approach, in the final year or two, you could chose what you want to major on eg: ai or data science.
i'm thinking of pursuing it too, but i haven't taken physics in year 12 and 13. i've taken AA HL math (calc and all) and CS HL so i'm thinking i should be good, since i studied physics in Y10 and Y11. what do you guys think?
i'm scared unis won't accept me and think i'm an invalid
For a better guidance You can mail to your desired university regarding your subs and grades and what field you wanna pursue
im not sure since im still in igcse and y10 but maybe you should talk to your school counsellor and talk to them about it (specially if you dont have a uni in mind yet) they can guide you towards which subjects you should take etc
Okay so I just had physics and chemistry and there’s this university that’s willing to take me in for CSE. Now the problem is that I didn’t have math in A Levels so I’m aware it will be difficult but I’m willing to work hard for it. These are the courses written down here. Do you think it’s possible if I try my best?
okay so.. i want to take art therapy, but i don't know what A levels to take. i'm worried that i don't do well in biology and art in my igcses but from my understanding those are essential subjects? idk- i need help and advice.
What exactly do you hope to do in art therapy? Is there anything specific that made you think that you wanted to do that?
I got a few questions before choosing your AL subs
Assuming you’re doing your GCSES?
im not very sure but i think you would definitely need art and biology or maybe psychology? i'd suggest you talk to a career counsellor in your school so you can get a better understanding of the job opportunities and subjects you should take to be an art therapist
well i think it would best suit me since art and psychology/mental health related issues are two things i'm very dedicated to
but i think I've decided which combination works best
Thing is, it’s a very niche topic don’t you agree?
Sure, they’re you’re fav subjects, but the more niche the industry, the lower the demand right?
Maybe combining the two isn’t really necessary
Psychology and mental health, for sure
You’d like to be a therapist right?
Stick with psychology as your main subject
If you’re into the physiology and psychology link, then do some bio as well
If you’re going into research, take maths and learn some statistics
Would you like to do 3 or 4 subs?
well i'm more interesting in working in the visual art aspect- so psychology isn't my top motive
I see
What kind of art do you draw?
Can I see some of your work?
If you’re comfortable with it
We could move to dms if you’d like
sure, that's okay
Is uk bachelor with foundation course good for int'l average students
Hello! I wanted to know about students who attend the research programmes, especially in summer, what do they do? I'm asking this because it seems intimidating to me and I don't know what would I do if I was in one even though it is a plus for uni application...
honestly, i'm not too sure, but i believe that they guide you through a process in which you must submit a research report or something by the end
and then they'll (the staff, i mean) evaluate it and give you a recommendation letter regarding your performance
i want to do psychology and im taking commerc right now (im in o/ls)
i take business economics biology chemistry ict maths and english
should i have taken physics? no one really helped me make my choic and im good in economics anyways so i took commerce and now everyone i meet is like You neEd PhYSicS like ms i dont think i need to calculate the acceleration of anxiety but ok
You want to do psychology? Your subjects are fine then! Bio chem and maths are the very least you can take, and you should also check your a level curriculum to see which subjects link the most to psychology. I wanted to do psychology (before I switched to med) too, and I took bio chem maths for a level cause my school didn't offer psychology until literally this year. But then again, it depends on the uni and it depends more on what you take in your A Levels rather than your O-Levels or GCSEs. Hope this helps!
so if i take economics, business, ict and biology for als will that be enough?
because il be able to take only four subjects and according to google i need to know basic maths so idt ill need it (i might take stats instead of ict if i must though..or maybe ill jsut do five subs)
and ict is a pretty demanding field now (plus i enjoy it)
me doing als depends on my results for ols. if theyre good id probably go straight to foundation or something where they teach psychology because they dont in my school
maths would be useful if youre going into research bec you need to understand statistics
^^
im not gonna do research though-
okay sure
thanks for the help :)
Gave +1 rep to AAAAAA#0556
you'll have to read papers and do some sort of a project as part of your degree
we have pure maths and stat maths
i can do stat only if i need to then right?
(i h a t e math)
so pure is core for everyone
and you choose between stat and mech for your options
tbf you dont need it but imo it helps
also in hindsight this is not pure math in the fucking least 😂
yall
in alevels
can we take all 3 sciences
cuz im so confused
if i should take all 3 seicnes
if not then im gonna soemthing with technology like IT
but everyones saying do maths as well
but im so trash at maths im struggling with it in iGCSE what will i do in ALEVELS ☠️
i wanna take
bio phys
but i also wannna take something technology cuz without that theres no job in this world anymore
and then maths like everyone has maths
Take Math Phy & CS/IT in A Levels
the golden subjects lmao
Lol
you can take bio physics IT/CS and maths if you want
for AS
then drop maths in A2
bruh whats the point
why take subs if you are gonna drop them anyway
Some unis need 4 AS
then keep em in A2
then there is me who wants some ease but also doesnt wanna drop a sub cuz people will think im a quitter
bro literally nobody in my year takes 4 A2
i know people with 6 lmao
even i have 5
Yeah Ik that too but I'm struggling with 3 lol
I mean let me reverse that ... what's the point in taking 5 or 6 when you can get into uni with 3?
except maths i didnt feel that big a jump in other subs fromn AS to A2
oh yeah bio too
Year 12 bio was so nice
bio is and was a pain in the ass
I hear physics is easier in year 13 than year 12 👀 but I hate physics so I'll never find out
nah pretty much the same difficulty guess thats just me
it is
Are you doing med
In uni
Just out of curiosity nothing else
yeah probably
If I get in
Ik I'll probably do physics in med but I'll just deal with it ig
Then maths will be a worse choice than physics
Who knows I might end up liking it
Caus The only maths A level I did in uni was the statistics part
And that was for biostats
oh
Try to do some physics on your own
Not alot just get the basics down it would help
ok sure
Hello!
I’m currently an A-level student (AS level) studying the following subjects:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Mathematics
I’m expected to complete my A-levels in 2024, and as things stand, I’m expected to secure 3 A stars. Any ideas if those grades could help me land a good scholarship anywhere? The fees for dental school seem to be ridiculously high, and I was wondering if any countries (or specific universities) offer scholarships for dental courses. I currently live in the Middle-East, however, I don’t plan on completing my university study here.
Also, I’ve completed my IGCSE’s in 2022 and managed to get 8A stars for the following subjects:
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- ICT
- ESL (English as a second language)
- Environmental Management
- Geography
I’ve asked a few people, and as things stand, I’d really prefer a spot in the top universities in the UK, US, or elsewhere in Europe. I’m not entirely sure if those grades could help me land a good scholarship to cut as much as possible on the fees. Please share any information if possible :))
Go for canda as you will get an instant scholar ship with these grade and UK is also a good option you could also try Singapore although that is competitive. These grades should get you one guaranteed scholarship and you can apply for more through essays just check oout some university websites to see what they offer for dental school hopefully this helps
Canada is definitely not an instant scholarship lol
they’re really expensive for international students and a full scholarship is very rare
even the UK
also these grades alone aren’t really enough because so many people take more subjects in both igcse and a levels and get higher grades so the other parts of your application need to stand out
Try looking into top unis that have branches away from the home countries they are significantly cheaper and no one will look down on your degree even if you attended Nottingham in Uk or Malaysia just an example
At the end of the day youll still have the reputation of having attended a prestigious uni
i was talking to some counselers canda you are instantly eligible for scholarship if you have a certain grade obiously it is just a base scholarship you can get addons
That’s also applicable in Uk aswell in a few unis
And it’s still very minut in the amount they give in Canada and you’ll be studying for a whole year longer in Canada than Uk those expenses add up quickly
And dentistry is not a course you wanna be doing while working on the side
Agreed
Honestly the best pathway imo is to do undergrad in your country and then a master outside your country because just doing an undergrad isn’t going to make you competitive enough in the job market nowadays
that is also true
I heard that Newcastle in Malaysia is actually quite awful of a uni in both academics and life
Ofc it's not the same as Nottingham but my point is research has to be done
Cheaper doesn't necessarily mean same quality of education
Can you go to uni after igcse V
To which country and/or uni exactly
like us uk ? I don’t have a specific uni in mind
Major?
Also UK most of the time (like 99%) needs A levels
Unless you do foundation year
What’s foundation year
Like uni foundation year ?
I wanna go maybe either to tourism or nursing
I heard a girl who went to medical school and she didn’t even finished high school she did like foundation year or smth
its an alternate to a levels
you will study courses which you will need to be able to study in undergrad , (these will happen in a university btw)
but its hella expensive compared to A levels
How difficult is it to do 4 subjects in AS? If someone has done Phys, Bio, Chem and Maths in AS, please share your experience.
I am doing 4 and eng gp it can be done just stick to the schedule you make for yourself the only problem i am facing is the bloody Cambridge schedule i have like 3 exams in a day, as i see you have all sciences and maths so i don’t think you’ll face that problem.
Hey! So I'm finishing up my A Levels right now and have an offer from The University of Southampton for Business Analytics and Nottingham Trent University for Business Management. My aim is to go into the Project Management field and obtain a MBA from a top uni in the US. I just wanted some quick advice real quick. So ik that Southampton is a far more prestigious uni overall and with its ranking I can def get a great placement afterwards, but the only thing that is holding me back is that the offer is for Business Analytics...i was wondering how that would play out as I'm pretty clear that I want to go into the Management field. I've heard that Nottingham Trent has really good connections with the industry and that there are tons of networking opportunities there, plus the offer is directly related to my field of interest. Anyone have any suggestions to what I should do?
At the moment I'm preferring Southampton more with the intent in mind of doing additional courses through MOOC platforms such as Coursera and edExcel, which will help me develop the skill set I need for Project Management...but once again I would appreciate a second opinion on this plan and how it would play out
Asking for someone:
I have interest in medicine and the grades for it but I've grown up seeing engineering in my life and have the skills for it, I dont want to do biological engineering but Im struggling to decide whether I want to do engineering or medicine as they both tempt me. What should I choose?
How good are you at learning a huge massive bulk of things that are very tiny 😂
omg stop i love biology too i dont want the same to happen to me
Guys career wise what's better or rather the one with the most job opportunities and networking opportunities...
Business or psychology?
And how do I know which one is meant for me?
Nah
Take Physics
Makes sense
IT Doesn't make sense when you take Bio
You should think about whats interested you the most and what you have skills for, psychology can be a load on you if you're not rightfully prepared for it you should do research too about jobs in the future ykyk
But psychology is more in demand nowadays
You just need to study for it and get a PhD to get an actual job or you mean nothing 😭
Hi i wrote my As level exams in may june 2022 and didn’t get the desired grades im doing a2 now and will write my exams in may june this year i was just wondering if i can re write my as level exams in oct nov of 2023 after receiving my A levels results
Is it possible?
yeah if it was computer science then it would be better
u need math for IT & CS
bio is for med
Math IT CS are for IT Field
Math Phy Chem are for either IT or Engineering Field
okk thank you
Gave +1 rep to Unknown User#9701
as far as i know u have to either give AS before A2 or all components together cuz after A2 you wont get A2 results separate it will be a combination of AS and A2
hey y'all, I'm gonna give my O levels next year, have taken bio, phys, chem, addmaths, maths
and plan on doing mechanical/automotive engineering
I really wanna go to an ivy league, but my grades have been pretty terrible in grade 9/10
could i still get into an ivy league if i grind really hard? thanks
well, you can always improve!
but like
is it still possible? i have this yr, and next year to improve my grades, but will that make up for my subpar perfromances of the last 2 yrs
also
does my gpa matter more than my o level grades?
your gpa needs A level
yea you can
reallt?!
could u explain the whole concept of gpa?
Well idek enough about it too 😭
lol ok
But yeah I am not going to use GPA anyhow
im in year 10 rn, going to college (or upper high school) in mid 2024.....so i think i have a bit of time
thanks!
Pakistan?
and in england, and common wealth
they do GCSE
we have to do religion, urdu, and pak studies, IT IS COMPULSARY, pain......
yeahhhh
and is a pain if u want to take a part in a medical univ
cuz they dont care about A Level
they just need fsc marks
u paki too my g?
yea
You too!
:)
Noted...tyyy
Ofcourseee
Is IT degree cheaper than CS degree?? Any idea
is igsce maths useful anywhere
yes
quite definitely
however, it depends on what type of degree you are considering
studying igcse mathematics would display that you have basic mathematics proficiency
if going for an engineering or physics-based degree it is necessary for you to have done mathematics in many colleges
everywhere abroad igcse and as/a level is valued
because of it toefl and other english entrances are not required
yep
is it possible to drop english in as and a levels?
if not i would have to deal with 5 subjects
oh
for example MIT, Stanford, and all the UCs require you to do four years of english
You’re welcome!
ok thx
i mean my school didnt even offer english at a level
not necessary as far as i know
your choice
its you find it hard then drop it
if i want to study international business in master, what would be the best choice to study in bachelor???
I recommend something like a bachelors in business administration
and my school has it compulsory even tho none of us want it 😭
Ok wait
I want to study business law actually
I just don’t know if I can study it in bachelor?
there are bachelors in international business
Which major would be better, marketing or HR?
recommend marketing
HR is a field which you can get into withother degress as well
*degrees
while marketing, to my knowledge, specifically requires marketing degrees usually
well better for what
It depends on what you want to do after, but I'd say marketing gives you more options in the future and a greater possibility to switch directions if you so wish.
Can anyone suggest me some good engineering courses except for CSE
which is future oriented
bruh wrong group
Ooops
Not really sure where to ask this so i'm just gonna put it here. I'm about to give my IGCSE exams for the summer 23 series and i've gotta pick my subjects for A levels in a few weeks. I really enjoy geography but my school doesn't offer it. Changing schools isn't an option for me; would it be advisable to study A level geography by myself as a 5th A level?
doing 5 subjects will make your life a lot harder
especially when you’re doing one yourself
the subjects I'm planning on taking are economics, business, ICT and Math. So either i drop geo completely, drop math and self study geo, or take it as a 5th subject
don’t drop math
that’s the most useful one
why don’t you drop business or one of the others if you really want to take geo
business econ and geo are the only subjects i really like. ICT cause the last option block didn't have any other subject.
dont drop math
math opens up so many opportunities
Thing is, I've already got an undergrad course in mind, and none of the universities i've looked at have any prerequisite subjects so i'm not too sure if taking math would be the best. i'm doing really well in almost every subject but math is one of the subjects i'm struggling to an A/B
Yes
Practice maths it will become very easy if you get hold of it
Wdym
You can either do IB or A levels
Personally Im planning to do IB it prepares you well for college but they're both difficult ofcourse
IB is 20% extended essay and 80% final exams
A levels is 100% final exams I think
i wanna plan ahead i dont really know lol
But you gotta research on it lol
You can see the requirements
I think A levels you only need 3-4 subjects while IB requires 6
And IB has CAS hours and stuff
oh i got 6 subjects
Its better if you were to search it up maybe
but i dont have the ICE
Oh
What do you wanna do in the future
Idk theres alot lol
I mean you can study business later on and stuff
cuz medicine meh im not so interested
You can go for that career but it depends on you
unless it involves chemistry ofcourse
Also look at what schools and stuff around you offer after IGCSE
like i dont wanna be a doctor i wanna be the guy who makes the medicine instead
yea
we got both
as a levels
and ib
im not so sure about ib tho
thx
Oooh alright
So you have a nice selection of options
Research about the schools and see whether they teach well or not since that can impact you too
And research the systems
So search up the IB Certificate/Diploma programme and look at its requirements and see if its suitable
Look up AS/A levels program
Do the same thing
thx alot
you made it kinda clear
ill do my research on it
hopefully i get all As and A*s on my o levels
ill have a good acceptance rate
You will hopefully!
Study hard thoughh but dont stress either
Lmk how it goes
thx!
Gave +1 rep to Angell#2019
yea im alreayd done with half of them i have 4 papers left
wish me luck
GOOD LUCKKK
<3
I'm taking my IGCSEs right now in the feb/march series. I've taken add maths as an igcse subject and have scored an A* in all of my practice tests and prelims, so am pretty confident for being able to get one in the IGCSE exam as well. I really enjoy doing maths, and wish to do further maths as a subject in A levels. However, my school does not have a teacher to teach further maths, and I would have to self-study it externally. Would it be possible for someone who has taken Further Mathematics in AS or A levels to tell me if they think it would be possible? Would it be beneficial if I'm applying to American colleges for an engineering degree in computer science? And additionally, does anyone have a textbook pdf for a further maths textbook which I could potentially go through?
I'm having trouble picking my career I'm leaning towards medicine but I don't feel like I will be able to handle the length as it is an extremely long course so I decided nursing because its shorter and deals with medicine but I still feel like my mind is not set on it any advice on my career choice?, The subjects I do the best in are Literature, Biology and ICT.
I know someone in my school in A/AS level who is doing a subject outside the school cause my school doesn't offer the subject and basically the learn the subject outside of school but when taking their finals they asked the school if they can pay for that field with the school and do the exam in school but the learn outside the school and they agreed so i think its possible
