I think it varies from school to school but for mine, we value enthusiasm & perseverance first and foremost. Doesn't really matter if one is a beginner, novice or an expert since the MUN team for mine will teach everything they need to know.

just show that ur motivated to learn, & be willing to give it ur all...tht shld be enough (in my opinion)
