Cambridge does this:
There is weighing which is done to final marks of each component. You can look for it online but generally its 1.5x for P2, 1.25x for P4 and 1.0x for P6 (For what I'm taking)
Then all of them are added together.
The threshold depends on the following things:
How hard the paper was
How many people got high/low score
Some other additional factors god knows what.
