my problem is: as i was sick and going through sever treatment i had bad grades in high school so now after feeling better am preparing for my a levels and was wondering if i can just send my a levels without my ancient bad high school grades. also, because am taking my a levels through the straight rout i need to know if i can send just one a level to get a conditional acceptation on the promise that am gonna send them another two 5 months later, or do i have to send at least two and then send the third one?

It depends on your university, their acceptance times can clash with your results dates

In which case either they may give you provisional acceptance on AS/O level grades and wait for A2 grades, or give you acceptance with O level grades and wait for your A2 grades

There's alot of scenarios that could exist, you should clarify with the university you are interested in what to do

It could be that they have time to check A2 grades for acceptance and that's their only way

Forget about the past grades and start working on past papers and revise as much as possible using notes and flashcards which are really essential

U could fret about that all the while before ur exams n then end up not doing well, or u could take ur igcse mock grades as a lesson to manage every day left to perform ur best and ace ur exams. IGCSE is not smth that cannot be done in the last 5 or even 3 months before exams. Its relatively easier than Alevels and u can cover up everything by studying everyday. Revise revise revise revise plzzzzz and do ample past papers esp the year before ones the night before ur exam, cuz highly likely some of those qs will show up. Gl!

I hope everyone's surviving well, lol- anyways i need some help from you. Our university focuses alot on presentations ( i think most unis do) and I need some advice on how to become better at presenting my topics on front of an audience. literally any sort of advice, tips or ideas may work

and i believe this can help other students aswell ^^

1. Understand your topic well, this well let you explain properly and be able to answer the questions you get
2. Be confident and speak loudly and clearly, and dont read from you slides/paper (make eye contact with the audience, not just your lecturer)
3. Be prepared for.. anything and everything (someone might not show up, you might have less time than you expected, technical issues, etc.)

If your presentation is math related then you should definitely stress on the numbers and what conclusions you can reach from it. Make sure you make eye contact with the audience and do be prepped well on your content for any potential questions your lecturer can ask you. (If it's a problem solving question that you used in your presentation and if they don't understand it, they will ask you to elaborate on it)

and try to mention points that are not directly in the slide

If there are any graphs, walk over to wherever it is and show it/point out any areas of interest to the audience and try to use your hands wherever needed

1. use the storytelling method, basically you frame what you wanna say in this format such as intro -> problem definition -> issues it's causing -> problem statement -> ur solution -> conclusion {something like that}
2. use the PREP (point, reason, example, point) or STAR (situation, task, action, result) method when answering questions
3. don't leave too many words on ur slides, pictures and a few words are more powerful, personally I like have pictures and a few visual cues to remind myself what I wanna say
4. lastly, just go with the flow, i know this probably doesnt help but, don't worry too much, just go up there and start speaking - it'll work out fine no worries

A-levels had a syllabus and a governing body (Cambridge). So it felt like there was a concrete goal (giving the exams) and a way to do it (the global syllabus).

For universities, there is no governing body (except for the government ig). They are completely free in the methods they choose to teach you. There are baseline requirements for each degree. Other than that, you're now an adult, and it's your choice as to where you dedicate your time to.

And, no, you shouldn't be just rote learn things, unless your subject demands it (law, history, etc.).

Also, it could very much be that the uni you picked is just trash.

I chose French to fulfill requirements for my undergrad thinking it will be easy and fun

But now I’m dreading a second semester of French

The ones i borrow from the library i cant do anything on

Also most of our professors tell us to read the textbook

And threaten to take away the ppts they made for us if we dont read from the textbook

Cuz apparently a bunch of ppl did tht and the material in the exam was diff/more detailed
