Hey all. I just wanted to add these screenshots here. I made a Reshade pre set for STFC. Sharpened the textures and added a few glow and coulour effects to make the models stand out more. Also made a film border toggle pressing F9 for cinematic scenes etc (like when you finish constructing a ship or at warp etc.) I know a lot of high end players are not fussed with looking at triangles most of the time, but thought it would be nice to show off some of our ships with a little umph.

As for the argument that you can't draw stickmen... learning is free. You can't just say you can't draw a stickman if you never even tried. Using machines to do the heavy lifting produces result, but no meaning. AI isn't art, no matter how real you think it is. It's algorithms filling a visual medium without understanding the context to it. Real art comes from a hand and a pencil. So pick up the damn pencil.

I have noticed when generating Star Trek AI images, Spock always looks like Lord Voldemort. I've generated some epic fails, created just for amusement purposes. Using Marc's amazing NX model and Peter's Drydock, I have completed this project, it went much faster than the Tholian Web because I kinda let it slip by the wayside, but now I will finish it. Mostly just need to finish rendering the web passes in all the shots. Using the original model as reference, I timed the bussard lights, navigation and beacon lights down to the frame, so they match frame for frame the timing of the original. 🙂 Also did some more material tweaking since my last NX video.

Have you read any of Alastair Reynolds' work? He writes particularly noir, gritty sci-fi, informed in part by his astrophysicist background (for example, there's no physical FTL travel in his universe, the fastest ships are called Lighthuggers because they get as close as possible to C, and hold on tight). Anyway, in his darkly dystopian future vision, "hyperpigs" have been genetically tweaked to stand upright. use human equipment, and supplied with the vocal chords and the neurology for language processing centres. iirc it was for cannon fodder in various internecine conflicts but that stopped when it became clear they were just as sentient as us... The pigs formed some ruthless criminal organisations since then. There's one called Scorpio in his books, interesting character.

Ah thanks, yes, my own work, seems like it's unfashionable to do it by hand these days when AI will do the work for you but that's pointless for me as I find it therapeutic to create. Media used are a mix of acrylic and spray paint in this case, tiny touches with ink and watercolour pencil too. I really want an airbrush, they are much better suited to this sort of work, but i wouldnt buy any I can currently afford 🤣 (I hate badly made tools, they make fun into work). I only really started painting earlier this year, previously I was mainly just sketching or using watercolour pencil and charcoal. It's messy as hell and my better half gets frustrated by the amount of acrylic I am getting on everything..
