Can we have a mega act of war event after this? A good 10 day long event. Where good officers; Section 31, for both who don’t have Harrison and/or Zhou, Tal, Severus & Qu’Ag. Also then a possibility to get hijacked ships in full (fro those who want one). Or other faction bps. Including a return to the previous costs for mat and res (last act of war saw a lower reward amount. This would be a great touch and a good step after another mining run of 10 days.
Yaylah release would also go good with it too.

As it is now even if it was free i doubt I'd use it. Slow mining, low protected cargo just for like 100 lat? Meh, needs too much babysitting. Neither watching a miner nonstop for attackers when over cargo or repeatedly ferrying back and forth from a mine are engaging gameplay.
And even if i paid 20 to build it, i wonder how long it's going to take to refine enough to get it to t6 where warp range isn't awful..

I capped my spending around $50 as I looked at it as what I would spend for a console game. Scopely's pricing is ridiculous. $50 packs for half a ships bps? You can buy a fully complete console or pc game for that much which has everything. $50 for anything in this game is ridiculous. $5 should be the max for any pack regardless of contents. The game still has glitches and half the officers dont work as intended. I do believe they have made steps to improve the game. The last couple events were better and the uc rewards were great along with the rss tokens. But their pricing is way off. WAY OFF.
To me the best part of the game is the social aspect. Interacting with alliance friends and general chat.

ok so - a wise person (our admiral) figured that realistically, we'll end up with a ranking of 12 or so on our server in the event. Since we're all lowish level , thats a feat to rank so high, and we're proud., even though like all alliances, we have 50pc of our team doing 80% of the work. Because the top 8 alliances are well above (millions of pts) above everything after, we stand no chance at getting the top 5 rewards. Ergo, one has to wonder - are these events worth it? It's the same 5 alliances getting the lion share of the rewards , while the rest toils day and night to never catchup. If the rewards were proportional to the effort (i play 19h a day but i know im an anomaly, still), it would make a lot more sense. And ironically, do you believe the top 5 alliance in question, all sporting d'vors, care about 450 or whatever ultra recruits? Id' love to be proven wrong, but the effort/reward ratio seems really skewed here.

Why did Scopely think changing the batch requirements as the ship tiered up was a good idea. I wont have a problem with it if the mining rate improved to to keep pace. To it appears that is little or no benefit to tier the ship. From t1 to t4 the rate when from 3860 to 3904/hr.

Yeah nobody's following those rules. We are treating the D'vor the same as we treat the Botany Bay. It's fine so long as it's on Latinum, anywhere else it gets smashed and any other ship on latinum gets smashed if someone has a D'vor and needs a spot. If People want to buy 2 Ferengi garbage scows they're more than welcome to do so.

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't depends on their individual alliance etiquette for ROE. To answer you second question, nothing. People have been mass killing envoys and Horizons on those nodes since they appeared.
It's kindof a funny slaughterfest going on.
It's actually given our regular miners a break from the usual slaughter because so many people are focused on those areas.

I didn’t buy the D’vor. I’m completing the Latinum Rush by mining G3. I am not, however, able to participate in the Build the D’vor, Upgrade the D’Vor or Lat Refinery events. Three events you can only participate in if you spent money. So, there’s your exclusives.
BTW, my solo alliance is ranked in the LB event, so, you don’t need a D’vor.

@fervent isle d'vor can mine 12k+/hour while the average non faction miner averages between 5k and 7k/hour. That means even with latinum being worth the same points as G3 materials, latinum miners have nearly a 2x advantage in points due to mining speed. It's perfectly fair for g3 to be included in the event so that everyone else who didn't purchase the ship can at least participate. If that wasn't the case the event would just be a huge flop because the coiners woould have over a 40x advantage and there would be no point in anyone else even bothering with the event.

The event itself is actually reasonably well designed, it's the ship itself and everything related to it that's the messed up part.

All of that is answered by the reasons I posted above. It's all about metrics, they have to get as many people as possible participating. If they don't do that people lose interest and leave the game/stop paying etc. Virtually all of the events and leaderboards are made to favor the elites already, seperating them out would change nothing except to create an actual class line and more resentment in the game.

@carmine lily what miner mines 5k-7k/h? base mining speed of the fastest node in suliban is 125/hr that means a ship's base mining speed should be 5600% to mine 7k/lat there. the highest base mining speed I have seen is 1900% on high/maxxed faction miner which will mine at 2375/h in suliban's fastest node.

@royal horizon d'vor laser upgrade does almost nothing to increase the ship's lat mining speed. it is additive to ship's lat mining ability. for example at tier 1 level 1 dvor's the ship's laser adds 1.3% speed to its output. at tier 5 it will add 1.6% max. best option is to stop at tier 5 and level dvor to 25. That will be a good balance of mining speed and required raw lat for refinery.

Well the player in first is actually a player that was booted from an alliance so they could raid him to win. The event breaking has actually highlighted it (which was nice)

They've done that every time this kind of pvp event has appeared. We told them about it the first time when our server was testing the event, but nothing got changed.
We've all deemed it to be at best an exploit, but few people can challenege or punish those players for it, so the problem persists. They win virtually all events anyway so it's not like their actions have changed anything.

There are several problems with this event. You can’t achieve the dvor without purchase. You can’t out-mine a g3 miner due to research upgrades and because you can’t max out the dvor anyhow.

@glacial halo Sorry to just now see message. Sometimes game locks and doesn't record the numbers. Easiest way to get around it is to shut down game, restart game, and then check those levels that did not change. Sorry that happened to you. It is actually a fairly common issue

I don't use lat for repairs as I have a ton of speedups, so really the only use is for ship XP during ship events and occasionally ship parts, if the rewards were UCs I might have considered spending lat but for RSS no thanks 🙂

Well thanks Scopley, you allow the high lvl players to buy enough D’Vor parts to upgrade it to lvl45 warp 40 where they can mine fast nodes with it that others can’t reach and yet we middle lvl players again get nothing but scraps and can’t compete to help out alliances in the mining events as we can’t ming lat as fast as they can

@scarlet seal the point of the dvor is to help lower lvl players and f2p players. You aren’t supposed to spend a ton on it, as evidenced by the fact that mining g3 gets just as many points as lat. the refining requirements also scale with ship so the higher your ship, the more raw lat you need. For example, a t7 tick means you need 90k raw ore to refine once. Further, the higher level ships do not mine significantly faster than the base ship. The key here is finding rich nodes. Another point: a low tier (3-4) tick with Scotty can get to the higher level lat mining systems if you know where to relocate your base. On my server these systems were full on day 1. Ex: Sinsser, Wolf, many others.
So frankly, spending a lot of money on the Dvor does not provide a meaningful benefit to p2w players, and many major alliances are recommending against spending money on it as it isn’t worth it. The benefit remains with the high level players who have tiered faction miners and Horizons.

By that logic there should be no packs or anything else, as the ability to buy packs is inherently unfair, but is the nature of p2w games. The solo leaderboards are also bracketed so at level 30 you are not being absolutely crushed by the lvl 39 players who on my server have pulled in 40mm pts. Anyway, the top ranked players in my alliance are mining g3 only and using their 4th ship to hit fat ticks. I don’t know anyone (limited sample size) who is using the 20k nodes to win this event.

@scarlet seal why do you say this? I have packs available to max out the Dvor, as does everyone else I have talked to. They have released multiple sets. 1st set to t5, 2nd set to t7, current set to t9. You have to be careful and buy the packs before upgrading, because once you hit the indicated tier(not shown) the packs go away.
If you think about it, having a low level tick is better than a high level one. A t1 tick in Sinsser, where you can relo your base and have nodes seconds away, mines at about 5,000/hour. My t7 tick only goes 5,500. T1 needs 26k lat per refine and gives 170 lat and 160 (avg) parts. T7 requires 90k raw lat and gives 240 lat and 250-300 parts. So I have to mine 16 hours vs 5 hours to get 41% better outcome. From an effort perspective, the t1 risk/effort/reward payout is better.

I think Scopely have discovered with the latest ship, that people will buy anything and everything they release. Either they will run an event when less people are buying it, or an event to grant 1/3 of the blueprints to entice you to buy. I've still not got the NS, as only one event post release, probably because it's still a popular purchase.

@grim crater I obtained the NS completely free, and I am half way to a second. The first few events it was run gave out enough prints with the missions to build it, I have also got some NS prints in exchange for Batleth tokens (opted for the NS rather than hijacked ship prints). Im not sure if it is a good idea to have 2 NS as once the horizon is unlocked its not used as much. I still use mine, its actually a pretty good latinum miner if you manage the protected cargo

@floral trail no it's not, I have a T8 NS that hasn't seen any action since I got my horizion which is now T5 (yes I'm only lvl 26), why would it when protected cargo is 1k vs 12k base for the horizon and that's a baby horizo. Add to that, a horizon goes to 450k ish if maxed (which I don't recommend) vs a 350k ish NS when maxed. The NS is great from lvl 20 till 25, after that, it's just another useless ship so I wouldn't sink anything extreme in it

🤦 A common misconception held by a lot of people. The Northstar can easily mine at over 20k/hr. Park your base in P'Jem/Morska/Rator and stock up on resources in no time

Its actually the horizon that becomes useless, not the ns. faction miner eventually smokes the horizon for raiding. ns is a fantastic guerilla miner. get your dailies done quick. its also insanely fast warp and cheap to repair, which makes it great for questing as well.

While I agree that the faction miner eventually becomes the miner/raider of choice, with my T8 horizon and T4 faction miner, the horizon can still hit much stronger bases than the faction miner and mine slightly faster with full mining crew and maxed synergy. But agreed, for bases the faction miner hits, with stone you are pulling 1.3 mm vs 700k in horizon.

Lol at 20k/hr with no tping for example, ur protected cargo is 1716 which is 5 MINUTES of mining, how can you call a ship useful when you need to swap it out every 5 minutes

With stonn on board and scotty it's warp 44 and up to 18480 cargo capacity....dailys up to associate done in under an hour, I send mine out early morning and it's full and home before the overload trolls spot it

I did, it was a great ship for raiding as it helped a lot with cracking bases and I still use it to hit bases that have kheras parked in there or a D3. I just don't use it for mining as I don't have time to swap it out every 10mins
Exactly why I mentioned im lvl 26 and in the top 70 rss raided on my server, I can't raid a lvl 33 with a cracked base as my horizon will take 30min to repair per hit so I tend to raid every single other base under Lvl 28 which means I'm hitting more than half the people on my server

On top of that, a lvl 33 will be able to hit whatever miner or base there is out there so I would think twice before hitting someone that is that lvl as most our higher up guys paid their way to power everything up then got bored so they went rouge or are very close to. Just yesterday, a team mate hit an opc lvl 34 rouge player's horizon and he ended up taking 32 ships so far from our alliance

Think once ns or horizon gets to 200k+ power anyone that can hit it with ease doesn't need raw g3 and anyone that needs g3 will think twice about hitting a hard target. That leaves people with grudges and boredom..

My .02 on @flint osprey ‘s comments are that I know many top (the top) raiders on my server who have used the NS to mine 40-space and max out without getting hit. If you’re a big doing dailies, you don’t really care about the mats anyway. When war is on, opc is irrelevant; you die every 5-15 minutes and just keep re-sending. But a lot of times you can (though I usually don’t) go way over prot limit and not get hit. Maybe my server dynamic is very different than yours.
I also know at least one person who got into top 50 rss leaderboard using a NorthStar to crack and envoys to drain. Like Riker says, it’s a handy little beast.

The difference might be @narrow yoke that my server has an agreement between the big boys where opc at warp 40 space doesn't mean anything, u only get hit on zero nodes or max cargo so others can mine. I didn't mention anything about using a ns in war times, my comment was purely a response to someone who is under lvl 26, who already has a ns and was thinking about getting a second one, I believe that a ns is useless for mining when you're on a server where people will hit you if you're opc since it maxes out it's protected cargo in 5 minutes (and my math is calculated by the screen shot provided of a maxed out ns with 20k/hr mining rate)

All fair points. We don’t have server roe, and the various versions followed by different groups range from ultra-strict documentarian(pm’s and screenshots) to ‘ask yourself what the Joker from the Dark Knight would do, and do that.’
I will say there are a lot more people vying for space in the 40+ ranges, so there is more activity there now than there was a couple of months ago. The few folks with high level faction miners have warp 48 to themselves for the most part, although you can reach and hit them with your warships.... and then have a 2MM Enterprise parked outside your base for three days. 😂😂😂

This game is very much still in a beta state, all new content is focused towards mid level 20’s. The galaxy isn’t open , there is no end game as you can on,y reach level 39. It’s and absolute shame what Scopely is doing. And they want top dollar for shitty new content.
