$copely finally realized that people dont build and tier EVERY ship possibly along the way causing them to miss out on revenue. So they came up with the idea of the cube... no ops lock, sorta... BUT it requires you to build a faction ship at every level IF you want the cube to be relevant to your current level... no more skipping G4 UC to save for the G4 rare cause doing so will cause your cube to be weak and useless.

Oh yeah, like a certain CC so enthusiastically pointed out, YOU CAN GET A SECOND CUBE!!!! It just requires you to build and tier a second faction ship at ever level!!!

So, just putting this out for the collective... My nephew recently started, he's trying to do the Ad Astra event to gain rep, but being ops 12, he can't hit faction hostiles, nor complete any faction missions. Any other way to gain the rep? O.o

Anything is possible, I am ops 14 and done event pretty fast. I do have maxed jelly and PMC crew at high tier. Highest hostile I can kill is 31 traders. Cannot do higher as cannot reach. Just a pity their was no slb, I grind out 50-100 hostiles a day. Hit first lock with Klingon, aiming for 1st lock with Federation.

On this forbidden tech event, there is an option to score by spending fusion rods. I presume this means the mats you use to equip / unequip forbidden tech. However when I do that it doesn't score anything. Does it mean something else, or is this an error and fusion rods don't score in this event?

This is similar to the old "spend faction credits" metric that only counted for promoting officers with faction credits and not spending faction credits in the faction store.

Interestingly, we discovered that it was only legacy servers that ops 49 players had the bonus rare ship parts. Newer servers at different pack evolutions didn't unless they were the ops 51+ players, since G5 packs all sit at the same evolution level.

It’s an IMS meaning it counts everyone on your server. If enough people choose Defender and finish the events you will get the rewards. If enough people don’t finish the event you don’t get the rewards. Kind of like an AMS but for the whole server not just the alliance.

In previous IMS runs they've done where the population wasn't even split between IMS, many servers failed to even get close to finishing. This is due mostly in part to scopelys failure to calibrate the milestone amounts versus server population

Or maybe it's scopley offering pointless PVP officers since the lowerdeck PVP crew made the Strike teams worthless. Or it's scopley offering 2 separate IMS events.

From what I understand even if the IMS isn't completed, the side with the most points will get rewards at event end.

But that is separate from the issue where they've shown to not calculate IMS milestones very well in the past. They even had one where the final reward were critical missions to an arc that many servers had to be straight given as gifts because they couldn't reach the final milestone

Show me a ss were the strike team beats the lower deck crews, because I have thousands of failed strike team pvp's.

Even if the crew can't beat freeman, it's still a useful crew to put on your second string ships for for territory fights or for busting up armadas.

Note that the explorer team crew can defeat freeman but may need a lil rng

My server has been around long enough that they all have max miles. And jadzia is an almost completely irrelevant pve officer. Only the lord knows why so many people went heroes

You didn’t miss anything. It was a race. Heroes and Villains both tried to fill their IMS first. Whichever won got the shards. To prevent both sides from getting the IMS prize they zeroed out the other one. Basically, whichever side was picked more on your server would win. It was a big survey by scopely imo

Considering how high your IMS compared to my server, would suggest your server is extremly active and more full

@pseudo rune I'm not sure why there was a need to do this 'iterative' scoring changes. The effect of this is that you have punished people who don't have access to even refine the materials that have point values. Even with this rounds change, you are still at give or take double the materials costs from what these heroic events used to take even with the top level points slightly lowered. I used to be able to sometimes finish the SMS at least with the right level of planning, but you all seem to have decided that lower level players shouldn't have that option. This is almost 17K uncommon G3 to finish an SMS after this iteration which is insanely out of scope even for a heroic event. Even if you had the mats, people don't have the ships to put 17K of mats onto.

it's the perspective i had in g3/early g4 in a server that was heavily in late g4/g5; the SMS milestones are hard to hit for low spend but winning the SLB isn't hard if you're active because all the very active/high spenders are in bigger brackets

Works for me. It seems the higher the tier of the cube, the less your beam is charged from weaker ships so you need to get the research to boost it. My research is now level 3 and saw a boost in my percentage after hitting ships that now give me far less a boost than they did my previous tier.

It needs 10x beam damage to charge so when you tier up, beam dmg goes up and total hull needed to charge scales with that. Especially noticeable when going from t5 to t6 as the dmg of the beam increases a lot then.

As above. Server 142 had Territory takeover for Perim during maintenance. Despite our alliance putting ships in the system before maintenance, we got nothing. Maintenance should not be scheduled to overlap with takeovers while there are events running.

milestones are lower at lower ops (fewer docks aside from anything!) for both the weekly events and the event overall.
If someone ops ups during the season, they will get the bigger weekly events which also score more - so they'll find it easier to complete as they keep levelling with the season pass milestones being still set to the lower total count.

We have no reason to believe that sticking to one ops would mean its any easier/harder to complete though (all this is on stfc.space btw)

i don't believe there's one on the schedule. we're also almost to the end of the known scheduled events for this month.
given that I believe multiple FT events have been run without an "upgrade the building" event, and given that upgrading the building increases the speed of the loop, I would personally upgrade it now. You can never be sure there won't be an event in the future - this certainly isn't a promise there won't be (because I don't know anything you don't) - but it feels extremely not worth it to wait and continue hoping to me.

They kind of messed up with this event. They're selling an uber directive pack but only a couple directives score in the event. If you buy the non limited epic armada directive packs this comes out to 400 dolla and 4 to 6 hours of armadas for shards of a c tier epic pvp officer and d tier pvp rare. They didn't really do this event well

They've already conceded that solo armada directives are worthless by not including them in the sms, yet include them in a pack in lieu of directives that actually score. Reeks of poor planning

The finished product is lackluster, and struggles to find a niche. There are parts of the loop where it's so deficient behind the paired warship development that spending time on the cube means always going out of your way to push on content you're well past and earn nothing(additional) from.

There are serious gaps in the loop development cycle. For many, the cube will hit many roadblocks in G4. This is partially a cube issue, but more so one of mats/parts income. Pushing to the higher tiers of faction ships for the cube requires too much of both, leading to stall points and a cube that trails behind.

When you do get a charge going, it can't be used in pvp where it could matter, ie. against whales, and only for harassing lowbies. Then you have to go charge it again.

It could use some these to improve the gaming experience:
Whale tax removal
Cooldown removal
Pvp charging
Overcharge and refund for overkills
Systems tailored for the loop development.

Not only is there a whale tax, but to add salt into the wound they put an immunity timer on it. Imagine how fun it could have been to get on voice with the boys and coordinate some cube strikes. Scopely is seemingly too dense to understand how to create emergent fun
