Their only motivation is to make money. By unlocking ops like that, they will stimulate the uber whales to spend hard and fast, as well as the medium spenders to spend to try and catch up. It's pure unadulterated greed

They (Scopely) are trying to find equal Servers so nobody is being overun by a Server full of 73 Players. The first round we were too not eligible, the second time we were position against someone that i know is on our level because we had fought them in the past and it was a close race. This time i don't know how it will go.
So if you are a second time left out and not a complete new brand server you might be just too strong for those that were in the end left.

Using an GS-31 Beam does produce Lags, using it during Waves does stop the Game for a time window of 3-5 sec where you can't target hostiles, pulling Ultra Packs leads more often to an blank Screen that does break the Game and can be only fixed by an hard restart of the Game.

No, it does work but the GS-31 does cause the Waves go bonkers and sometimes ships being even invisible. If you don't use the GS-31 you won't encounter those issues. Hence why i am surprised that Scopely isn't fixing it when everyone know that the GS-31 is causing so man issues in Waves and more if you use the Beam.
But hey, it's an old ship and by now most of us own it so no real value for them to fix it i guess.
