I closed the game because it was gonna take 6 minutes to warp back to my station and when I came back in to use the 1000, it says I only have 780.
I refreshed the game again like just suggested and still says 780.
This game just screwed me bad.

Depends on the leaderboard. Given that the sphere has an advantage against the new hostiles, higher tier sphere = higher lvl hostile kills = higher scoring.
