Worldwide ram prices are way too high, and expected to continue to rise - both DDR4 and DDR5. Storage is up too (not as much as ram). Some ram kits are more than a whole PC was a year ago. The Ram I got for a PC last December has more than tripled in price, and it's a value oriented DDR4 kit (and the price rise on it is less than most). There is a website called PcPartPicker that has historical price charts. And the prebuilts just have less ram and strange(er) parts to cut costs to prices people won't throw a fit about.

The ram issue is that there are only three makers of the chips that go onto RAM sticks: Micron, SK Hynix, and Samsung. Micron has said they aren't selling to consumers (crucial) anymore, I think they're dedicating all their chip production to server/datacenter products.

Also I hear Nvidia might be cutting production numbers on 5060 and 5060 ti products (which probably means higher prices), as well as possibly not including the vram chips with the GPU cores they sell to their board partners - higher prices and less board partner products (because they'll have to buy and validate vram on their own). (Board partners would be Gigabyte, Asus, etc.)

BTW if you might be interested in VR, avoid Arc - they never added VR support, and appear to be ignoring it. The new steam frame might work with Arc, since it reportedly uses a USB dongle to connect to the PC instead of like a monitor.

So STFC community is on the list for best community with pocket gamer and I couldn't agree more but the game isn't up for any awards that should tell scopley something.

It's this community that they screw over time and time again that's made this a success in spite of them not because of them.

A large portion of the community have played for yrs I played the beta test when they seemed to care about the players, we know it's a business and they need to make money but the balance has gone too far the money grabbing way.

The ONLY reason I still play is the people the game hasn't added anything interesting since wave defence first came out and that is bugged to hell most of the time and even that they had to afford elites and a new ship to milk it. What waves needed to make it better was a rework with hostile powers since it's open to lvl 30s but they can only kill traders so an entry lvl set of waves and the ability for the leader to open it to non alliance members so we don't have to kick others out. Neither of those things can make them money so didn't happen.

Look at multiple armada starts they are a Pau only prime and can't be used on formation armadas so a total waste of effort

If it weren’t for the community I’d likely have dropped years ago (just hitting 7th anniversary mark).

In that time I’ve seen a fair share of hits & misses on content & changes.

This is the only MMO I’ve ever played so don’t have experience with how other developers work things but assume they are not flawless.

Personally I play the game as it is, find where I can enjoy the mechanics, and ignore what frustrates me as long as it doesn’t taint over all experience.

One thing I’ve appreciated are improvements in officer sourcing, day 1 F2P path for new ships, mechanics to drop loops no longer needed either through Independent Archives or Faction Stores, and now it looks like they’re getting msg that some events just aren’t wanted & are eliminating while still preserving related desirable sourcing.

Also, at least they’ve stopped announcing a new feature is coming for almost a year in-game (see Armadas).

How high of a price per pack are you willing to spend before you are either forced to stop because you can't afford it or the game shuts down from the rest of the player base saying screw you to Scopley and leaves? Because with people continuing to accept the overpricing of packs and requiring an insane amount of materials to finish an event that is what is going to happen. Scopley is going to increase the amount of materials and other things to required to finish events or just out right increase the price of packs until the game fails from the lack of players.
