It won't be the same with chen/tlaan, the weapons are either energy or kinetic, and swapping officers would change the amount of damage a gun deals. The overall outcome might be similar, if the amount of protection yields are also similar.

Sarris events were like a five minute investment of time per day they were running. All they ever needed was a higher payout of directives, but nobody at Scopely ever wanted to listen to the masses of people who were suggesting that every time the events ran.

I truly don't understand scopley anymore, which is why I've stopped participating in the last several events in any meaningful way.
They finally figured out how to make star bases relevant and they give the mechanic to outposts. They have massive dropoff of arenas but won't fix it. They cancel successful events that no one was complaining about but keep up the ones everyone sees as a chore long after they're done being useful.

They've mentioned before that they want engagement which translates into people spending time and being challenged. Sarris was very challenging at first, but now there's enough other boosts in the game that you can punch way above your pay grade so my guess is they feel like people are phoning it in and no one's being challenged.

Which is probably why we like it.

The point I was making is that player pushback on an event might get misunderstood. The flashpoint event wasn't really any different than what we saw with the sarris invasion. As a whole, we got shoved into 3 types of mining with 2 hostile currencies PER GENERATION with the Transogen loop. The actual flashpoint events weren't nearly as bad as the loop itself

I think they need to take a leaf from other MMOs, part of the problem of PvP is finding PvP. In other MMOs they'll do hot-spots/world quests/etc for PvP where they funnel people interested into PvP into certain locations.

The tricky part is figuring out what kind of PvP we actually want. Right now we have bracketed pvp events, Incursions, the Arena, and system specific pvp events, each designed to offer different ways to engage.

I guess the issue is how making it all feel lively and rewarding

Personally i just want some more active game play or marrying active/passive. Outposts had half the idea right, you do the Outpost and while you hold it you get access to a grinding system, that could have been great, with the attacks escalating each wave.

That way people could choose, do I want to stick my biggest ships on the Outpost and hold it for as long as possible, or do I want to put weaker ships on it and grind like mad in the hostile system.

As it stands the need to use your strongest ships on an outpost and the time they take means the buffs are pointless. Pretty much everyone I know does it overnight.

The APAC test doesn't start for another 2 hours, but as long as the servers don't completely crash, the incursion will take place on Saturday for everyone else.
