Well for starters. The hostiles have a borg beam that deals 25% hull damage before combat starts for lvl 45. 51-59 do 50% hull damage.. Only the building adds resist to that... So then you have to use a crew to slam them round one..

The f2p content doesn't require a 51 building. The intention was for players to start from the bottom vs the 45s, and the day1 gift was enough to get you through the door with reasonable development in ship/crew/bonuses. The events only required 20 kills.

The heroic content is different, it's whale food. While some advanced players could finish the heroics f2p, those events scaled in difficulty high enough that the largest players were incapable of doing the same without spending on a couple packs. The hostile ability is punishing, and without any strategic options beyond having a building that can nullify it. Early content like this is whale food, stuff for the players who want access and power now. If that's not you, then you're safe to skip it just like you skip the numerous prime events that come with each month.

Eventually, the whale food becomes accessible to even f2p. Looking at the pace we're going on the building, f2p'll soon be working from level 51 and getting mats for our PTs.
