There's a ton of g6 players on my server that have the fear of God in them for going opc so they mine transogen with g3 and g4 miners

Interceptors are the best ships in the game right now, at least for pvp. Go all fed if you plan to PvE mostly but for pvp it’s the worse choice.

It does. I’ve played a lot of arena and you need max range variance if you want to maximise winning. If you just want to play and say have a 50-50 chance you can be less strict on variance. The more equal your squad the worse your win ratio will be

Occasionally you get a stupid match up but you minimise that by making your average ops as far away from the 70s as you can.

It’s not great game design as it promotes avg ops minimisation through team ops variation and punishes playing with players in your own ops range

Stick with a Rotty til ops66, push a g6 rare to tier 9 so can get your big cube. Rest can go in research/ops. Then push 70. That’s all you need for PvE and PvP

there's a later step to mine the transogen which makes it somewhat confusing

also, your "consent" to pvp in this game is playing it. it clearly communicates that pvp is an element; you can opt out of station pvp with shields, but there is no opt out for ship combat except not playing.
