The term "recalled ships" suggests scopely does a ship recall (warp to base) but what they do realistically is just put all your ships back to dock regardless of what they were doing before.

Not everyone that plays this game reads maintenance announcements on Discord back-to-back in advance and/or has the time to adapt to them in time. There is no gameplay related reason to reset miners from the token space mines. It seems just a technical shortcut, same with the fact that you might lose your cargo and points over the forced move.

That is just not true. The game is down and could be fully paused during this maintenance at any point. If you are a programmer, you would know you can actually control time in the program yourself.

Have designed apps and games, and have been around long enough watching them fail truth thermocline tests internally constantly.

Last time they did a major backend maintenance (which involved server migration work as well) when they didn’t ask people to send ships home and not leave them out, people actually lost ships for days.

People need to just take the L on losing a token because they want to sit for what could be weeks with a miner out while every time they upgrade their transogen building they basically lose speed/efficiency.

“yay, 2 weeks from now I won’t have to worry about double refines for a couple weeks on this one mat I dedicated a ship to and hoped someone didn’t come and take the oc from” …. Meanwhile if they just mined and docked regularly while upgrading their building, they likely end up with as much or more in the same overall timeframe.

I kinda hope they actually fix the whole glitch of freezing chasers.

Actually they announced it ONCE , in the middle of the night , it was nearly 1 in the morning in the EU when they did so, and then they repeated the same message last night at nearly 2000 hours.

Here’s the thing, at this point I think Scopely is the clown-shoe-iest game developer out there and has broken internal communication structures that have already practically killed the game as the user base has likely long since passed the trust thermocline and the game has already had its larger scale abandonment, but this is not a hill for people to die on. They actually did attempt communication saying ships will be sent back with enough lead time for the news to get through groups, and people are forgetting one of the reasons they did this THIS time is because they last time they tried an equivalent backend maintenance, that likely includes some server migrations, people actually lost ships and the ability to use docks for several days.

To be fair, the tokens have been useable for nearly 3 weeks. You can mine in those systems for days, or weeks, depending on cargo size (my nova has 88M cargo). The announcement that ships would be insta-recalled happened 3 days ago. MANY folks used those tokens prior to knowing the ships would get bounced home, and had many days to go to fill their cargo.

Those stats on 10k lost players were really misleading too. It's the new player retention that dropped off a cliff not invested players. Precarious position to be in though because only a matter of time before that shifts.

For me it isn’t the arc itself. The wok and transogen loops are actually really good.

It’s the disconnect between game design and those people designing the events that bugs me most, because some of those events cause a huge amount of frustration and players just give up on it. Instead of us thinking about all the good things we could achieve in those loops, we all end up hyper focused on events with unrealistic and unachievable goals

@everyone don't upgrade feesha in the archive. It's flawed, and scopely are aware of it. I tried 5 times to upgrade it from 10 to 11, every time I first upgraded, afterwards it went back to 10 and had used the tokens.
