I can't think of a practical reason to do so, unless it needs materials I won't have until I've looped back around.

I definitely screwed myself over, unless there's a 3.1 lower than level 44 I overlooked. Highest my T2 evolved ship can kill is the lvl 50 3.0s, and that's getting me only like ~5k credits per kill. So I'll get 1 single chest for almost half of my weekly directives...

Didn't think about it. All other scenarios in the game, to my knowledge, base this stuff on highest tier, not current tier, so I didn't even think about it until after I scrapped...

I don't think there's any other ships that work the same way as the Rev. All the other ships that use ship tiers as research gates can't be scrapped so this issue wouldn't exist outside of the new ship.
Should always check the research for the ships.

Stella skin is different to research though. None of the Stella research is gated by Stella tier(probably for the exact reason of the issue you are having).
I'd hope that it is more than likely a bug, though it's more likely just short seightedness on scopelys part.

i use SNW in general instead of JW, you're correct not a good option for Q trials. I just find them better for most of my use cases than JW, if i need more fire power than the Epic/Edata crew

Try rebooting your machine and then immediately performing a repair. Sometimes if you crash or the game doesn't shut down correctly, it will lock a file and repair can't fix it while locked. Rebooting will clear any locks.

S13 - there has been an issue for at least 2hr 48 minutes - that is when I did an arena pull that did not complete. It was unstable but not completely unplayable that far back but the issues started at least that long ago

@lapis seal not sure this helps, but the problem with waves was worst in round 10. I thought it might be memory leak kind of thing. The kind of lag that gets better when you reboot or exit the system and come back. Because it got progressively worse through the waves. And would be relatively normal at the beginning of the next one. But, nothing made round 10 lag improve. And then finally, game broke completely.

S13 - a little further info. It almost seems like client server sync is broken. It behaved initially like it does with lag when you do a pull or claim and the items pop up after a delay except it never completed. At the time it started I had ships on auto in rogue space and they continued to be attacked for a while and the scoring banners showed up. Currently those ships don't seem to be being attacked anymore. I can't say for certain when they stopped but it was after the failed arena pull around 3 hrs ago
