its hard to imagine but you are probably right, but I mean:
this year has introduced how many new loops? now that in itself isnt too bad but until last month they didnt get rid of any of the old ones either. The bigger issue is all the new loops require 10x more button pressing on claims and refinerys compared to the old ones, even with IA pulling all your daily stuff still take 30mins+
95% of everything they launch doesnt work initially.
Events and bugs that have been around for years havent been fixed (Retrieving anyone?)
Events (particularly this month) so far out of whack that its clear they have no idea what an average player does/can do during gameplay
Things like the field training introduced what 4 months ago now? completely broken and still not back
Invasion (That 2 times a month event that they keep either forgetting or not putting on schedule)
warroom again the twice a month event with ridiculous farm time which they have now reduced to once a month with no increase in the research mat
The list kind of goes on with problems

@queen jolt I'd like to "mimic" the concerns stated above by another player. The things that are important to me from what they said, this past year Scopely have introduced 9 loops + MU waves (I'm on the fence on if that's a "loop"). Yes Independent Archives removed 5 loops, but we only have a vague timeline of when we'll get more loops added to the feature. I'm not sure what specific month Tiger is doing his next arc. Therefore, theoretically we maybe get upwards of 6 new loops added before the next IA additions assuming we don't get any before Tiger's next arc and we keep 2024's pace of new loops in 2025. It also has me concerned as only upper g5 and all g6 players will actually benefit from new mastery "tracks." On top of this, some of the features from this year are still bugged (Kishara), aren't appearing at the frequency as promised (War Room), still not really worth the time to engage in (Alliance Tournaments), or not available to everyone (Field Training). Yet, we'll still have a bunch of new loops coming. I hope my complaints can be addressed sometime in 2025, along with more sourcing for rare ship parts as the amount given by the Gorn Eviscerator is nice but just a drop in the bucket. We need more guaranteed rare ship parts to incentivize players to ops up, not just to g4 but as well as g5 and inevitably to g6. Lastly I'd like to thank you and the CM team for all you've done for us this year and all you will be doing for us in the future.

Scrapping a Jellyfish is the only ship that pays out rare explorer parts with a positive net if you have somewhat okay ship parts efficiency research
it's not great since the amount of rare gas you need to invest in it is very steep, but it's some sort of an avenue

The problem is, the more push towards spending there is the less and less the willingness of an average player is willing to spend. The ViPs haven't been the most thrilled about this past year's apparent agenda to push more spending. This was the forefront of the main outcry when Alliance Tournaments released during the GQ arc, which ultimately hasn't relinquished that ultimate problem at all since it's inaugural running of said event.

My exborg research isn't 100% yet but considering filling my tally cargo takes a couple minutes and yields more than exborg, it seems inefficient and the devs are looking into adding mastery tracks for most if not all of the loops that the exborg faction store has an efficiency bonus for. Quality improvements went sideways to a bit backwards. Instead of screen switch freezes, the iOS app just completely crashes at least 4 times a day for me. The attack button lag they introduced was the worst "improvement" of 2024 and it was a huge step backwards.

what do you mean arena making a comeback? unless something changed in more recent weeks that I missed, it's still a well-engaged piece of content from % of playerbase participating. I would say it is one of the most engaging and fun game events for me. Do I often get paired with people outspending or whatever? Yeah, sometimes they lack the arean technicique to win. I agree that the performance and lag issues are a problem. I'm not sure I agree that matchmaking is all that bad. I've played many games with multiplayer matchmaking and there are times you will absolutely get matched with way outsized/outskilled opponents in any matchmaking system. This game has it even more difficult as it isn't just about the skill of the player but the research, buildings, FTs, CTs, ships, officers, etc. that the player has access to. So matching most heavily based on average ops makes the most sense which is what they have implemented from my understanding. They have tweaked it each week etc.

Here's what I would say, I probably wouldn't do it if there were not rewards from it. But that applies to almost every game mechanic. I stopped mining red data when the reward wasn't sufficient to warrant my time. Similarly, when the favors and things you can get (some of them INCREDIBLE) have been gotten, I probably won't engage in it as much. But that will be a while with how much is in there.

I am not sure it was ever 500k+ for f2p. But I could just not be remembering, could have joined after that, or we could be defining f2p currency differently. I am referring to it as only things you can get from SMS's/free path of BP that don't require spending to do (or to get the ship to do). That removoes any from SLBs which often times players at lower ops are used to competing and placing well in so they historically got more currency than they get when they level up and have to compete in different brackets.

There was one event store where F2P total got like 160k from SMSs alone.

So it's at least on track not to be the worst event store currency month of my time. BUT do I think there needs to be more event store currency for f2p? YES, I absolutely I agree even 250k is low in my book.

u can stop a starbase attack very easily , u have to time your attack at the right time so they are fighting u and not the startbase when it goes off

If the ship is strong enough to defeat the starbase (which isn't difficult since its defense is poo) it just takes everything regardless of ship cargo
For base raiding you get drained slowly but starbase it's just yeet

Is the team considering some way to not tie terran research to arena rep? Its insane at even Gold 2 where a loss negates a win in your rep. With matchmaking as bad as it is and RNG essentially determines what you face, I am at a point where I either ignore arenas for a while to retain Gold 2, or jump in and get knocked right back to Gold 3. I just need Gold 1 for five minutes to pop that research, but its evaded me for three weeks. I get lowering rep when we lose, to a point, but its extreme IMO.

As a G6 player this is the only research I am interested in that tree, I have the currency saved up for it, but as a G6 player - arena matchmaking is the worst for us as we get matched up with those 70s with 150 billion power ships far too often. That one ship and player with a speed crew completely dominate the match. Its boring for both sides and frustrating since that loss completely wipes out the rep from the occasional win, lol.

Arenas today: Good- had time to play during the arena window for once, matchmaking was better than last time I did arenas, we had some very close matches (as well as a few blowouts).

Bad- lag is the worst I've experienced in arenas. Often got hung up unable to send ships in at the start while watching other ships enter the system. Restarting fixed it but put me way behind.

The arena concept is good but it depends on players wanting to engage and that depends on it actually working which it doesn't and engagement also depends on progression and as has been said progression is stuffed if your team meat the op players. Tonight I had 3 wins to one loss. That wasn't the case for others in our alliance.

it's clear that these new events can't work in the mid/long run.
i'm sure the majority of all players don't buy anything from the store for the dailies (who would be that crazy?!) and so where is all the material supposed to come from if, for example, the artifact and fc event takes place every four or two days? 😅
it's obvious that this can never work, especially not with these rewards.
smaller light spend or f2p players in particular will have significantly fewer opportunities to obtain officer parts and latinum as a result of the change, i.e. their development will be slowed down.
if the publisher believes that players will now “buy” more pain, he has taken the wrong turn in his thinking. that won't work out.

Yeah, even when you win it's frustrating. Not worth the hassle.

The merge did change the dynamic quite a lot and that 1 alliance disintegrated into several others

the roe system with equal votes for alliances is a place to make deals to gain voting majority

sometimes i have the feeling that it was more abt complaining than changing roe in their favour

i am lucky as hell that i will never ever do diplo or comm stuff again
