If I knew that the vindicator would be sourcable in another way I could happily not bother with arenas, but as I am only 20% of the way towards getting it (2026 still my target) and new ships are lining up to create more loops I feel that I should at least try to engage but the lag and the matching is sucking the fun out of the game (what little there was left that is)

Just found out that if a member of alliance couldn't participate in Turkey Bowl, the member didn't receive the rewards alliance won. We have a member who was always happy to help when he could and enjoyed playing together who didn't participate one event, on Thanksgiving, and reward was not given to him. I understand that it is a team effort to pull pts, but we all benefit from every help others click, every iso everyone refines and we are here. He was a contributing active player and being excluded from once a year Thanksgiving event for 'not participating' albeit his alliance participated and won, doesn't sit well. Wish I found this fine print before the event so we could've communicated to mates.

there are many things that still are suboptimal when it comes to arena... but my newest find was, people would rather not play and try to keep the ops average low than play with a higher ops (like 10+ difference with an opener inbetween) and MAYBE loose... the amount of available teams lowers due to this ranking tied to refine amounts
when matchmaking was still tied to arenaranks as heavily i had the same issues where people started complaining when forming a team with an early upper gold
or maybe tie the refines to the highest rank achieved and not current rank

Arena was just a joke today. First match was against a way stronger opponent, couldn't even move our ships further than 10 sec in. After that we actually got matched against almost equal teams twice, but the first of those the enemy never loaded in, and in the 2nd one of my mates got stuck in queue, the other joined but couldn't send his ships into the center, and when the first mate finally cleared cache and loaded in my game lagged out and completely froze. So yeah, we gave up on it 🤷♂️ not worth the headache

One of the issues people are coming up against is even, or likely because of, this condensed play timeframe for this, you often see the same squads multiple times before the end because so few people are actually playing.
When surveyed alliances report maybe a 3-4% attempt rate among the top 5 alliances on a server, this ain’t going well.

people blamed a whale for not shielding? lmfao.... this happens all the time. but you're correct, shield discipline is key. it sucks to lose, but there's only so much you can do. after all, it's only a game. people need to relax. my server lost because the lack of shield discipline. but on a brighter note, i was able to get FC Lorca... so it's a win for me 😁
