in my experience, assigning 1 or 2 lower levels to dedicated survey duty and having the rest focus on 1 special and 1 fkr hostile type each actually produces the best results in wave defences.
works better than having 5 G4/G5 people fighting over normal hostiles, G4 players dying too soon, and everyone forgetting to do the surveys.

I would say if on your server you have a negative rep in general or in the realm of waves (such as running past miners and attacking hostiles you shouldn’t be trying to hit), then that definitely limit who will let you join their waves. I have kicked 53s that have zero clue but advocated for 35s to stay because they are excellent wave players and know to crew and where hostiles are. Your alliance mates will give you the most patience. Maybe allies next.

Waves aren't the problem. The people on your server sound like the problem to me. In my alliance we've been making sure every ops 30+ player (which is almost everyone) completes their wave pass for months, even before we had our first ascension. Now we've got ops 50 guys who'll carry the 30s to wave 10 (can't quite beat it yet though). Realistically, with a near max Enterprise, you probably only need 1 other person with a g3 epic to enable you to complete at least 1 wave at a time. Not the easiest way to do it, but possible.

On Solo crates I always go for the 2 crate option daily.
Use Vi'dar Exocomp on L33 Borg ship's. I fill up Vi'dar drop Loot off then go back down and use the remaining exo up but still fill up Ship

Franklin has a lot of stats to make the power rating decent, but it has the stats in the wrong places to make it viable as a ship for general use. It should only be used against swarms, it lacks weapon damage against anything else.
The "difficulty" estimate is made from comparing the power rating of your ship vs the target. But as stated before, the stats that make up the power rating can be misleading.
