The way I approach this game is probably unorathadox... Do all efficiencies and get your ships to a lvl you are comfortable with.. Push to the next lvl of grade then catch up research.. This works well from ops 30-60.. especially if you are free to play...

If you are a big pvp player camping ops works well since you can do research

Still not going to do much against big spenders... If you consider killing miners and are a griefer... No research is required for that sort of pvp

The efficiencies were showing that you had enough, but weren't applying. So you it would cost/take more than visually. If you were at the exact amount visually, it would kick up an error because you didn't actually have enough.

Look at how much you have before doing the spend and then after the spend. Subtract ending amount from beginning amount. Does it match expectation based on your efficiency math?

The entire game is time-gated in various ways. Unlock this in 120 days, have enough rss for that in 60 days, get your newest ship in 90 days. Scopely doesn't want you to have it all at once even if you get it organically. PvE cap is only adding so much to that paradigm.
