It's probably for new Players that have not yet "enjoyed" one of those events where you could get it for Free. Seen the Northstar constandly being on Sale till i reached Level 15 in the past and currently still see it there also it doesn't make any sense to buy it with the knowledge that i currently have. It such a strange concept. They could easily show me by now Ships that would be worth the time/money but no "Northstar" Sale here and there & left and right while i am way paste the level where that ship would make any sense. Their monetation guru must have left the company, otherwise i don't know why they don't shuffle those ships on an weekly base.

Let me save you time. This arc is a failure. It detracts from the game. You have basically created an open hostile pvp area foe the whales to farm farmers. No protected cargo. No way to escape quickly. You have to fight it out. Yeah, good luck when a borg cube comes in or a speed crew that you can't even beat with Freeman.

This will be the worst month yet.

This is not a pvp game and you can't make it into one. Yes, it has a pvp element but that is because it is required for the game to function as there is no other way to remove a miner off a zeroed node. Pvp is used to push ops faster but it can not level you alone and it can not speed you past a certain point.

This is forced pvp. Worse than that, it is a grind that can end with nothing.

Players are not going to rage spend on am element of the game that doesn't promote overall gameplay and pvp is not what drives this game.

Raiding bases for resources is the biggest. If you don't have TC, raiding opc iso. There is a small argument for opc hunting but if a player has time to opc hunt, they have more than enough time to drop a miner and get more loot from mining resources for refineries. The ftp with less docks can take advantage of that more than spenders.

But base raiding is about it and clearing 0 nodes if you need a mining node.

Because last time they did that with xindi they ended up reducing the costs , so they started at low/average costs for everyone is my guess, not a bad way to go about it. Remember you are talking about doing double pulls, a single pull would be like 20 hostiles , either way , the higher ops are being rewarded for being higher ops, it's not that hard to believe. But once their research catches up , they will be doing just as much of a grind. As everyone else which to me seems fair.

Only if players have certain ships/servers/etc. Our 4* first systems are still full. If a player doesn't have a 4* miner that can reach deeper, they have a problem. 5* first systems are getting the same way. 5* is very expensive and unless they have a tiered up monaveen, the para wall is a real thing. 1* iso is only minable outside Tc. And using ex-borg to buy it is viable if ex-borg is maxed out. If not, why slow down research to mine something you could raid?

There are several factors that go into all that but I agree, there is very little reason for pvp now.

MP actually boosts iso damage, CASCADE. 50% as captain by himself with 50% synergy from each side officer possible. So at max synergy, he will have +150% cascade iso damage, this is supposed to counter Freeman who needs a state to have an effect. Picard will take a normal shot for 100mil and turn it into 1billion iso damage. So without the new apex, the first shot in a volley will drop shields, the 2nd and 3rd volley will drop the ship. Even quicker kills. And easier base killing!

This is all targeted for the titans and whales. The average player gets very little benefit from this in pvp. In pve, the apex will be nice, especially against the gorn grind. But overall, pvp is not what advances the game.

What really is both incredibly frustrating, and disappointing to me, as a longtime player/community member, is that Scopely already had a proven community-accepted method of engagement in new content. All they had to do was follow the same method they used when they introduced Wave Defense - allow people enough trips to a) try out the new content and b) reasonably engage in the content.

1 trip per day to the mirror universe is insane - especially with the amount of chokepoints in this mechanic for alliances/servers at war. It simply isn't enough, and there isn't a logical justification in terms of game design, aside from monetization, that justifies it.

The broken glass today in the mirror is sadly, self inflicted, and entirely avoidable.
