you can sometimes predict where a ship is going.
in territory i sometimes send a fast ship ahead to the next system to catch an intruder who just warped out.
I've also ambushed rogues in dark space when they were doing their rounds.
and during latinum rush you can find a participant's d'vor/feesha by voyager-scanning any of their other ships, and checking the latinum system closest to their station.

but no exact way to find a ship.

If I'm remembering correctly, wave 8 completion for the L50 waves is less credits than wave 10 completion for the L40's, so you'd need an incredible set of ships to make those worthwhile
