i have a very robust routine, where i activate a shield, then make sur to hit few helps, grab a 10 minute chest and any other still there, finish a research, start a research, finish a building, start a building, grab a daily, check the store, pretend to make a purchase, check the shield again, level up an officer, recall a ship,
think i'm forgetting a few steps

In-game you can do literally anything you want - if the game allows you to do it then you can. Shoot grinding ships with pvp crews; loot token systems; shoot active miners just 'because its funny'. Its ONLY RoE that stops everyone quitting overnight

Its good in late 30's early 40's when want to get to bigger mining nodes or somewhere quick. ONce you get T7 G4 miners, they can get there by themselves. Then it just becomes a 'get somewhere quick' taxi to get to an Armada or beat someone to loot or a vacant node
