and use the artifact hunting research to get extra pulls out of the loop to accelerate through - if you're careful with the field training etc it can get you off the starting blocks within a week

Yeah, just checked this one. I need something even bigger for the overnight mining for a mission. 100k would have been nice tbh. I put cadet Scotty and now the warp range is 28, but I am not finding anything suitable for my need.
Best I found is Vanir with 35k trit per node.

There are a few missions like that where it's a crazy amount of mining something you don't really need...and holding off on it makes it take a day instead of a week.
