@dusky cove this is a fundamental game engine issue with the unity engine. It has nothing to do with age of hardware and is affecting Android over several levels. There is no quick fix and there is no reinstall or playing around with cache...

We are working with Unity to find a fix for the small subset of Android devices who cannot load the game due to crashes. In the meantime, although not ideal, these players can attempt to login and play via the PC but we are looking for a permanent solution to fix this.

Basically summarised: Unitys internal modules use an older version of PAD. Since Play upped the requirements and the PAD version is higher… there’s a incompatibility causing crashes and errors on multiple devices
