Same for me. It almost never crashes on my iPad or iPhone, and I run iOS betas on both. There are many (MANY) bugs, but crashing on iOS devices wouldn't even make the top 10 for me.

For such s “bad app”, why does it work on some ipads and iphones but not others? Seems to me there must be some other factor that either is so hard to find, because it’s so specific to certain users, or a byproduct of something environmental that a fix would require a substantial rewrite of more than just the app.

Look, the game freezes on my hard LAN PC 🙄. Telling me I have “internet issues”. Whatever, scopy just has abysmal resources. It isn’t on MY end.

No other app is crashing on my ipad. With stfc after manage one ship it will crash 1 minute later. Sometimes it crashes when clicking an enemy ship or just doing nothing. And it is getting worse. A year ago the crashes were not that often. Soon I wont be able to play. Probably a redemption.

Seems if you have invested money in the game, and by no fault of yours,your account is reset to level Scopely should have some legal responsibility to give you the value you had invested in the lost account. Don’t know the law but seems like if you payed for it it’s owed to you regardless of it being awarded to the old account and used as with the new account you’ve lost access to what you payed for but just my opinion

that's what I meant - they made Bek the face of the five year anniversary through all the videos, yet: the contests are a sham - no one really won anything, there's nothing to do with the entry tokens we keep accumulating. it's just smoke and mirrors.

Scopely is treating the 5 year anniversary like a Bar Mitzvah, where everyone gives them money to celebrate how great they are, instead of what it should be: celebrating the players that got them this far.

Not actively dismantling the game and community. My server, and I'm sure a lot of others, are full of disabled war vets - the game provides a lot of community to folks who don't have a lot of other outlets. But that's being destroyed through shortsightedness...

was just a authentication token resetting, which happens sometimes during maintenances, you should be able to log in properly with your scopely account. It's amazing how many people there are that don't know their login info though, or never made a scopely account.

There is no doubt at all that the app is poorly designed in many areas, networking being just one of them. If my network access blinks in any way, even just for a second, the game does not handle it well at all, and almost never recovers without a restart. This isn't the same as a crash exactly, but it would add to the number if you want to roll this kind of thing in with crashes.

I’m thinking more that something gets lost in a network blip and, due to insufficient sanity checks, cases a crash. But it’s pure hypothesising, I’ve never looked at how the app works, nor how Unity apps work either, my expertise is in other areas and I hate not knowing why it’s so selectively buggy, it irritates my software engineering sense.

Pretty much feel the same. So many accounts affected, hours lost, accidental merges, poor server response at best… on t the final day of a battlepass, and not a single word officially. That level of disrespect towards players is what makes them quit. But to admit that your digital “goods” could evaporate in a second could scare the majority of the payerbase.

Units is only the frontend cliënt. Backend services are separate from that. From what I can see, they're having massive issues with resources (ingame textures, model and message texts) which are caused by a) messing up the code branches in their version control system (each battlepass has its own branch probably and merging it back to the main production branch caused problems this time b) serious limitations in what Unity can handle. There's many developers stopping with unity at the moment, often due to scaling issues and bad support. One example is a 4Gb resource limit for mobile clients... pieces of Unity still work with 32bit integers for identifiers and addressing locations which set serious limits on big and complex games...

You can basically tell resource handling and identification is a big issue from the missing models on the voyager systems, weird mashups of texts in dialogs, loosing textures and images when having the cube on the docks... stuff like that. Now add to that an ever growing more complex battle system that relies on the intricate chaining of pieces of code to calculate outcomes per fight... throw in extra complexity for artifacts, isolitic damage, continues stream of officers, forbidden tech, additions on additions... and at a certain point, your code and runtime will start crumbling under the strain. The architecture of serverside code might have been good for the level of complexity this game had five years ago... but it's likely a poor match to the level of complexity it has now. Chances are that the developers realise this. But only a very serious amount of time and effort can help them refactor this game and architecture to get back to the initial level of quality. Which probably means 6 months to a year of no new features.... and that's not possible as they need the cashflow... architectural deadlock...

Because if a level 70 cube can one shot a 5 stars base while taking zero damage, then what is the point anymore. That means a 5 star cube probably can crush a 4 star base, and so on. No point in crewing, or getting any ships they will just get sniped from across the system.

The quality of life additions to the Officers screen from turning in tokens and transporter patterns is ACE. Worked great and saved me a ton of time turning in a bunch of discovery, federation, Premium recruit, and Transporter patterns. Well done and a big thank you.

I bought (and completed) the elite battle pass last month, but I was level 26, and then 27. I reached level 28 today and received the fabulous offer to buy a Borg Cube for a mere £99.99.

I have the perception that the 5 years (150%) is pretty much the same as "limit 1" special base packs that only comes out on weekends. Unfortunately I don't have the data for the "limit 1" at hand. Anyone does? What ops?

We were also discussing it also in alliance, my admiral hit the nail in the head with a better idea for the future: It would have been way better if they sold a single normal base pack at 50% the price

wish there was a way to get matrix diodes like you can get the pattern buffers as all the missions in the holodeck seem to now require only matrix diodes and there is 20 missions in there and none use the pattern buffers and i have not seen a single diode in any of the battle passes it says you can get some or in the store ... wtf

doubt there's 20 missions in there using diodes as they pull the arc missions after their run, when they add new arc missions they give you enough to run them, either as a gift, or through the battlepass.

Game stability is horrible. ** Scopley you all should be ashamed of yourselves. ** For weeks on end now, game crashes about every 4 mins. Nodes turn purple, zoom and scroll stop working, ships stop responding, then if it doesn't crash it just lags the hell out. Also why would anyone sane push a ship to t8 unless they're stuck at that ops level ? For the most part past 50 sane players tend to push to t5-t6 and grind their way to the next level for better ships. This really neds to get addressed as I the ship that "grows with you" really only grows if you're spending money on useless upgrades on other ships (you may not even have built).

The whales who think like that are few, if any. All but one on my server (we have several) agree that the current pvp band is way too wide. They don't want to hit more than 5-7 levels below themselves. The only one that disagrees is the one that hits way down because he knows he can't win against anyone close to his own level and is convinced it'll make the lowbies hate the other whales (which it doesn't). Scopely insists that it's necessary for "the economy to be balanced", which it isn't and is totally busted because of their own design. The only time hitting so far down might be valid is during incursions. Just like the Realta burn thing, one or two cried about it so Scopely "fixed" it.

If you merged by accident, you can open a ticket, (they'll help as long as you made a purchase, since they'll ask for a receipt to help you / confirm you). This affected a lot of players Last Sunday, but, they're keeping it quiet, no official announcements, and nothing to help the players... If you haven't already, select NO. Here's a thought, seeing as there are 7 and 30 day shields in the game, maybe the schedule for incursions needs to be public a minimum of 31 days prior to the event, not notifying about it just a couple days and screwing people that may be unable to come to the game to move to low level territory.

Respectfully disagree. Double-clicking is essentially what we have to do now. If this was more than just a way to bypass shields (which isn’t that big a deal) I’d agree that a double confirm is necessary. Let’s say if this action was essentially a “nuke” destroying the whole system and all players in it, including friendlies/allies. That would have the potential to cause issues. Another point is in my opinion most if not all of the performance issues, UI errors are caused by poorly written code. Streamlining the code by removing unnecessary popups would be a small step in what needs to be a thousand mile “journey” when it comes to beta testing and improving the code for this game.

It's an easy mistake, and you're relatively new so I get how you would make it. But I believe it was in the ops 26 or 27 battlepass, so if you were still 25 up to 1-2 days before the BP started, you got the smaller BP - once it's set, it's set and doesn't update the rewards if you level up during the arc. This is always how battlepasses are, and for future reference If it doesn't show in your BP rewards, you won't get it magically at the end if there are no BPs in the event tracks you see...

You can try CS, but I'd fully expect a brush off of "You weren't at the right level for the battlepass"

Every new ark we have problems. We have evenings that the lag gets so bad we can barely play the game. We have bugs that have been around for ages that haven't been fixed. We get rigged events that only those spending a ton of money compete in. Officers that have been in the game for ages with no way to source. Planned events that get cancelled due to bugs. Far too much stuff locked behind paywalls. I think everything should be free to obtain with a grind. With the option to spend. I don’t spend much on this game, but usually I’m pretty good for buying the elite package for battle passes, and officer flash pass. Sometimes I may even purchase an extra package or ship BPs but that’s extremely rare.

Nonetheless, I’m starting to feel a little bit cheated with these increased glitches and they don’t completely get fixed all the time.

I mean simple things (such as the display graphics of the Meridian while docked) that have never been addressed for couple of years I’ve played. More recently, I’m warping out and it still shows I’m flying around the system like a mouse that lost its ball.

The game is ALWAYS stable on my computer, and yet the crashes have exponentially increased on my tablet. Not ideal for a “mobile game”.

I know my dollar doesn’t mean much to a company like Scopely, what I spend is hardly even considered a drop in the bucket, but I must say that the game is starting to lose its appeal to me as it seems like this company doesn’t care too much for attention to detail. They just feverishly fix the most imperative issues, send out a comp chest, and forget the rest.

Again, doesn’t matter to this huge company but I’m considering what my limits are. How much more will it take for me to call it done and delete the app and never look back?

I was going to be very active raiding as I was trying to get the steel to push my base better and build a new ship.
So was hoping to get the same amount I have already raided in the past week.
Scopley and the <@&509691205798592532> should arrange for the comp chest for this mess up to cover the cost of what players could have gained if they won and raided to a decent lvl.
Though I know we will get screwed as always with the comp chests.
The only time we got decent comp chests was when scopley messed up and gave us what they thought was too much.
For the players it was decent for the level of problems we deal with on a daily level. Some of us try and make time to play, which to us is very precious and this is the level of issues we get.
The comp chests should reflect what we could achieve, not the next to nothing chests we have been getting of late for screw ups.

Rather than fixing the rest of the game, it seems a lot of time and effort has been spent on Incursions over the months and trying to get it working. Yet, you can't even get that right.

Incursions planned, aborted due to inability to invade. Later revived albs. Maintenance announced late.

Servers had a hicup about 15min before maintenance, force logging out players or completely unplayable. Once players could login, seemed like clients were defaulting to Google new player logins instead of using scopely ID authentication, so everyone was logging in at a few minutes before maintenence to level 1 accounts.

Food for thought: Scopely only takes suggestions seriously from the Vip (whales) who also for some "strange" reason do not experience half the issues us "poorer" folks do. To be fair, smarter people than myself believe this is a database call issue (today's issues) and not content coding. One of the issues here is communication. Since we only report troubles, and are never advised on resolution, or, plans to prevent this from being an ongoing issue, it's tough to hold real accountability, in any meaningful way.

I think a vast majority of the player base, would appreciate a higher level of transparency when these issues happen.

Let's face it, the reason we all play is for love of the Star Trek label, and not necessarily, any specific curator.

Providing some transparency, may also allow us to appreciate Scopley, versus simply being dismissive, and passive aggressive when this stuff happens.

There is a player on S97 who routinely spews rac1st KKKrap in GC, in DMs, and via his player and alliance name and alliance message. He's been reported over and over again via the in-game "report" function and expressly via tickets with screenshots. Many have him muted but that doesn't get rid of the player/alliance name, which, e.g., shows up in battle reports since he hits all sorts of people all the time (not surrpising given that he's server-wide KOS...).

This has been going on for weeks and Scopely has done nothing. WTH, Scopely?

Sourcing for the new FC, both new ship skins, Freeman and the ST crews (though not the lower deck crews) is so awesome to see. But the event store is lackluster. The Monaveen is only a half unlock (the 200 BPs is too high anyways but that is a separate issue), still no Feesha skin shards despite there being 2 skins and they were left out of the last 1 or 2 events stores as well.

The performance of this game is generally poor, and completely unacceptable. Perhaps you should consider adding a quality control department and actually test the updates before rolling them out. The compensations are a nice thought. But nothing game changing. A week ago my server 80 went offline. We all got taken to a new server with level 1 tutorial. The greatest compensation some players got is losing their account because they don't know how to recover it after merging it to the new account we all got sent into after logging in that day. Here's the way the wave thing works in the center is a little round thing you can click in there to see who's joined and you can see what hostiles are coming in the first wave. That oblong thing there is actually a barometer to show how much you have left of the item you're defending. The hostiles will come from four different directions and they will be different ship types maybe interceptors from the north and explorers from the west. There are about 10 or more ships coming from each direction. They start out at I think level 28 wave two is 30 and 32 and they will go up from there. You should not start the wave until everyone is there with two ships. Anyone can be part of your team which means other alliances might join your wave. So I recommend coordinating I think it's five people to come with two ships before anyone goes there. Don't just start a wave. And the lag really sucks today so you might want to wait until later. Because there are a lot of hostiles to kill a speed crew might be good.

New stuff not working because you don't test the model/version prior to release, I can understand to a degree. Engineers of the new items should be given the requirement of testing active viability prior to release but Scopely seems to be on fire to release new things to sell the new items regardless of quality. What I cannot stand is that you break things not directly involved with your update, making even long standing features fail. I'd prefer gaps in new content and a stable build over this constant inability to keep the game functioning.

This game is no longer a mobile game, its being slowly converted to Pc. Where its a better layout, less glitchy, and what the whales play on. It has become too bloated for most any cellphones to handle, hence mobile has more issues then Pc. Again they catering to the money baggers.

The pass event asks for 5 waves, i was lucky to finish one as i had some random players as partners:

The waves in the wave defends are ridiculous! There is no way a lvl 30 player could fight them. It's also almost impossible for even 5 players to fight off the first wave. There are WAY too many hostiles, and they are too strong. The hostiles that I saw ranged from 4 million to 35 million strength....in the FIRST wave! This needs some serious balancing!

Do you mean locate another mission ship? Locating one of my ships then locating the mission boss doesn't change anything. It's the mission boss stuck in battle, not my ship.

@tacit obsidian feedback for these wave defense things… Good idea badly implemented. 1) Random people is bad if we can’t kick them. 2) Not stable: ships getting stuck in battle / not able to target new hostile 3) We cannot see what type of hostile spawned where to be able to get ships into position 4) I can’t prove it but i am certain that player ships are moving slower than they normally do… 5) If random people can join then we at the very least need a temp defense chat that doesn’t rely on galaxy chat, but i think we’d all like it better if it was alliance only.

Not just that...the strength is ridiculously high. If a level 30 player expected to participate, why is a 4.4 mil hostile the weakest ship in the FIRST wave? They need to do some serious balancing. It's like they tested it with God mode turned on.

Game stability went way down today: where I had the occasional 3-5 appcrashes a day before, I‘m having them every 5-10 minutes now. How about investing some money into making the game at least stable enough so it can actually be played?
I know, that costs money and no one pays your for it - without it, people who pay you for other stuff are going to decline though because no one‘s gonna buy content one cannot actually access.
Making money and selling packs is fine, but you urgently need to start thinking a bit further ahead than just the next cash grab
