#So 4090&3090 Drops because of this cheat guy?
104 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
earnings on high end gpus didn't drop because of a single random guy but massive people abusing this unfortunately
Salad needs to add a built-in benchmark. Warn or Kick whoever has low performing GPUs (Problem solved).
actually, they did drop because of the one specific person power limiting, and getting a lot of demo workloads. it was confirmed
the customers moved away from the 24gb vram cards for multiple reasons, but the awful performance they saw was a large reason
So salad punished 24gb gpus for what one person ?
Giving 3099/3080 1.2 containers ?
Hoping that single user desist ?
I don't get it
more like, customers stopped getting those containers because of bad experience
but who is renting 3090/4090 ?
thats the part that is confusing
the 1.20 containers are just excess from other gpus where they don't have enough supply afaik
i could understand if 3090/4090 get 0.00
yea but why so low ?
its not fair at all
salad needs to be more clear about that
just wait for them to make a post about it, apparently they were working on a post yesterday
ok
Goddamn this guy screwing things up for everyone else
It wasn't one specific person, it was a number of nodes that were underperforming
yeah I corrected that
in a different post tho
cool :)
I will say 33% power limit is high in my opinion but a small power limit shouldnt be that big of an issue. maybe add a power limit cap of 80% or whatever you guys deem is efficient for users vs customers where the performance difference is negligible. priority should be based off of how well you card performs compared to other cards of same class in the network and then reliability of your card staying active(sans updates). all that has to be done is give incentive to keep our cards at higher clocks. Maybe add some sort of card ranking so users can see the most powerful/stable cards and they can go through to see how they themselves compare. For the record I havent limited any of my cards. Ive thought about it from seeing that post and then i heard it was starting to be an issue so i held off. give us some guidelines salad. id rather not have customers leave and us users make less money and they left because we messed something up but we didnt know to fix it in time.
tbf, this is mentioned indirectly in the Chef TOS
where "Site" refers collectively to the App and the Website
ok fair but tbf alot of ppl dont read that. maybe put a pop up reminder in notifications or setup saying Remember! dont power limit your card or it can effect such and such.
they're rolling a notif out that stops containers until you remove power limit and start salad again
great 👍 just wish they did it before it apparently is a glaring problem with users under the impression that we messed up big and its why everyones earnings are down
also this nemo guy was banned from the reddit for being inflammatory. he is Trym_WS
the notif also triggers when you are using a lot of vram or GPU
yeah, just wish this was done earlier
That may very likely have the opposite affect, by introducing people to the idea of underclocking / limiting power
very true
ah right the laws of reverse psychology my b your correct
is there any economical way to detect power limit software thats running or what power limit is applied then is the real question
Salad's GPUZ should be able to pick up on the voltage and pl
ah okok
so if trym_ws is banned on the reddit and hes posting here now is that ban evading or does he have to start actively calling ppl names first lmao
if it was because of something awful they did, they would be banned on the discord as well (pretty sure)
the usernames dont match so they might not have known. idc as long as he chills out but Nemo is 100% trym_ws who was banned from reddit
why exactly were they banned?
i dont know 100% i wasnt the one who reported them but ill send you the reddit thread
k
not sure if they deserved a ban for that, but yeah people don't like being called scammers and other names
idk either but like i said it wasnt me lol. i was just pointing out that technically he was removed and thats him for the record. im not trying to get him banned or anything here i just wasnt sure if there are rules for that sort of thing.
They're just generally a trashy kinda person, if you look at their comment history on reddit
typical redditor tbh
If they were here, we'd know pretty fast ;)
i am not the guy, ok?
dude, open your eye, keep your mind clear
hello chatters
just want to comment on this after seeing more information from salad about it
all machiens running containers must run stock as close as possible, it will be very strict and your machine may not earn at all if it isn't deemed stock
whatchu got for us bossman?
interesting ok noted good thing i never did put any limits im stock
idk how much i can and can't say but im confident i can tell people that cards should be stock or overclocked (oc's arent necessary for salad since it doesn't change the earnings) and not underclocked/limited in any fashion
ok i hope there will be some sort of notice that our card is being affected just in case theres a a situation where someones card is being profit limited and they arent or arent intending to and its just something that they need to fix
you just so happen to have used the same terms he was using and somehow have the same grammatical errors as him. could just be a coincidence. As long as nobody goes r/imthemaincharacter on anybody i dont really care
yes afaik you will have a notification in-app telling you to revert some sort of modification idk how in-depth it will be
awesome thanks for the info makes alot of us feel better ill bet
and only a mild overclock because an unstable overclock can lower performance in vram-heavy workloads
im so aware
good point
if someone knows how to overclock then they would have done it stable
otherwisae they wouldn't be running it 🪿
most people just drag sliders on afterburner until it artifacts, then dial back a bit. they don't know how to tune an overclock to be actually stable, only visually stable
artifacts usually dont appear until a genuine degradation with the signal
if they push it too far their screen will just go black until they restart windows
or just have a locked down gpu so you cant control the pwower limit
You guys mean underclock right? i dont see need for overclocking here. No records are there to be broken.
iirc msi afterburner itself is only limited to nvidia's software power limits and voltage, so you shouldn't be able to do physical damage to the card
no… do NOT underclock
we're talking about overclocks but underclocks are disallowed
overclocks aren't necessary at all
but its a bit invasive to tell a user to not oc their card if they're running salad
also as an fyi, overclocking can cut into your earnings by increasing power draw without changing earnings
Not underclocked, all good here. But why would newbies overclock if they lack knowledge?
because it’s a click or two away with afterburner and they were told by some random kid on the internet that they will get a lot more fps
the same reason someone falls for a phish scam, they don't understand what they're actually doing
“aight lemme send you amazon gift cards over the phone because you have my personal data and you’re going to leak it”
gddr6 & gddr6x actually lowers image loading time when its oc'd (pretty basic stuff-Faster memory=lower latency/throughput). But its not required here as we are not competing in a leaderboard like hwbot.org to break any world records.
Those uninformed will only cause extra heat & burn up their pcb 😅
yeah overclocking doesn't change how much you earn with a container, im just saying that cards should be stock or overclocked is the user already has overclocked when running containers 👍
I've changed to stock on 3090 last night (my local time); at least now I'm getting a $2.30 job and not a 1.20
With a 3060 at ~$1.80 it's not so bad. Hope can still get at least $4 jobs on the 3090 though
Reverted back to the mean
I get the adult content workload restriction (not sure my country even bans that, we're pretty loose on restrictions) but this kinda blows frankly given my power draw (150 - 300W)
350W
you can check by seeing if it’s grayed out on the setting called like “let me choose” for the workloads
oh wait hold on... it changed! it wasn't grayed out before this last time i checked
dang
gotta be more 24gb work besides that though
there is, but just harder to come by
high and fast vram is best for stablediffusion
yeah i got u
just gotta hope for a rare fish then i guess, and save up for a 4080 (due a new pc build anyway)
I’m getting a 4070tiS… it’s $800 and overkill
I thought you were getting a 4090
