#gpu not being utilized and degraded performance

what is that gpu...
oh is it steamdeck
i wouldn't be surprised if salad wont work on it tbh
Yeah its a steam deck, I heard from other people that salad worked on the deck.
anyway the degraded notification could be from the gpu
if thats the case
If you dont have a supported gpu (usually happens to laptops, since they have igpus) the only way for you to earn is through cpu containers ||(and/or bandwidth sharing #1021501189977813002)||. The way containers work is kinda hard to explain, but for simplicity your cpu needs to get a job in order to earn. You cant do anything to get a job faster, you just have to wait. You will not earn if you dont have a job.
But unfortunately, you will most likely not get a cpu job very fast right now. While you cant estimate when you will get a job, some people have waited days for one. The pinned message in #community-support explains this.
You should also read this to learn how containers actually work: #community-support message
Obviously make sure you have containers set up. Click the profile picture on salad > settings > enable container environment.
Degraded fixes
I think most people are having an issue with salad saying its degraded, it could be because of the 1.1.4 version. If you tried the things below then i dont think you can do anything else other than waiting for salad to fix it.
- Make sure you have supported hardware, and disable the unsupported gpu/cpu. Igpus (integraded gpus) are NOT supported. If youre not sure, send a screenshot of the performance tab from salad.
- Restart salad
- Make sure salad is whitelisted in your antivirus(es) [https://support.salad.com/category/30-anti-virus]
- Try restarting the saladbowl service. First close salad, Task manager > Services > SaladBowl > Right click > Restart. Wait 10~ seconds before opening salad.
- Restart pc
- Reinstall salad
If nothing works it could be a bug, or you can just ignore it.
Alright thanks @keen hamlet I'll try these fixes once I'm home
