will salad implement a storage sharing app?

the idea is to allow the user to give access to a small amount of space of a hard drive/ ssd that will be stored on many different devices and allow people to temporarily store certain amounts of encrypted data on them for a larger database like an external backup service, you would need may devices to ensure all data is allways accessible and I can see some problems with data security but you could possibly say the same with bandwidth sharing, so it may work better if the data storage is only temporary.

Yeah it's probably already been thought of by the team, though my bets are that it'd probably be at least a year away, since they're still working on bandwidth sharing, and Saladcloud stuff

i also had another idea being to help services like plex, when people need to convert video footage on the fly, your machine could be used to convert it when it is necessary instead of the storage server being forced to, as sometimes the processing power in them can be a bit lacklustre especially when its a small home storage server

I think there's a low chance of storage sharing to be a thing because even if the data stored in ur storage is encrypted you can still find a way to decrypt it, the file is in your computer and you can access it afterall, and even if the file is temporary, you can still make an automated system to copy the file when it's added to your storage
