alcune domande che ho fatto di la le ho giΓ risolte sbirciando nei file delle moto stock, soprattutto la questione di come appare la moto nel menu/showroom, ma tutta la questione sospensioni, CoM, angolo del forcellone, posizione del pilota ecc proprio non ne salto fuori, infatti li ho settati un po occhio e la moto Γ¨ inguidabile

mesh colliedr one of the biggest problems
inside the body create a lowpoly mesh
1 minute and tell you what naming must have
#FORCECOLLIDERMESH
inside prefab root
that way the game will use your volume as a collider and you will have control of it.
otherwise it will try to generate one with the geometry of the bike and mess it up

I use a cube divided in the center to soften the hard edges usually
Definitely better use shape that more closely follows the bike.
consider that the mesh then is "simplified" by the collider generator, which to speed up calculations does NOT use concave shapes
so it generates a kind of envelope

So for front light and rear light you have to create a new light object in the body named #frontlight and if you also want a stop brake light you have to create one called #stoplight, give to the stop light a little bit more power than the #frontlight of the rear
cioè se metti una luce davanti e una dietro rossa meno intensa dello stop e la chiami #frontlight si accende con il tasto

is there a way to add an emissive to a mesh for when the lights are on?
also, i'm having problems with transparent materials:
i have a glass with normal map, mask and color and i can see them as they should in unity editor but then in game is just a transparent mesh no matter what i do it's always the same, i can see it as it's made of glass but it doesn't have any of the textures..
I'm having the same problem and I really don't know
Have the material in the name "glass", if yes rename it to get a name without it
By default if you call a material which the name contain glass it will be overridden in game by a default glass material

the only way so far is to have the transparent material itself as a separate mesh, that way it works no problem

they're all done and in game, just need to figure out a couple of things in the physics department then they're off to release (except for the e-bike and the kickscooter that is almost unrideable)
after that i'll work to convert the 2020 ktm range from mxbikes

Already tried that but it doesn't import correctly, there are missing maps and the mesh it's broken
Try checking the backfaces and using a single texture map
the model is fine, already checked..what do you mean single map texture?
the importer only works with 2 maps: color and normal, it's missing the mask map (that basically does all the work in hdrp)
Sometimes the importer messes up with meshes that have multiple materials
But these are obj so it is strange that it corrupts the model
did you triangulate before exporting?
OBJ importer is handwritten so for now it does not import maps like normal

The last one that I've imported had 3 materials and I hadn't problem, there was 4 different meshes that I joined. For the image I suggest the PNG format

the video shows how to import it with just 2 maps (color and normal) but i have 3 as per hdrp workflow (color, mask, normal)
and also the model is broken in some parts, like it's missing faces here and there randomly (but this could be because i didn't triangulate before exporting)
i also have 2 materials:
- helmet (with alpha clip)
- goggle lenses (with alpha)
ok so, for the alpha, i don t know how it works on tdr π
for the missing faces, i think you need to check if yours normals are on the right side.
and for the maps i'm not very good sry.
eheh so we're in the same boat π
yes the norm , the spec and the alpha don't work like mxb so we need to learn π
let me check the importer, Maybe I can put a hotfix in the build that will then go public
and how did you import all the necessary maps?
because in the video it shows that the obj exporter only works with color and normal..

Modding is a priority for me, but then I added a wheel and then changed the tool setup hehe.
So I said okay let's go out and then build a tool with them even more complete.
By the way with this new feature you will be able to build complex frames directly on unity without using the shock absorber template
So the ability to create MODs as "sidecars" without having to "fake" the wheels was added.

Blender was my first 3d software so I would probably feel the same with Maya or 3dstudio

I don't hide that Blender fascinates me as a project, a little chaotic and some functions are like "minigames" you have to be able to dig them out but the community is nice and alive

I usually go from low poly to high

You have given the nature of your work, certainly you have the nurbs approach which is very precise but it is very difficult then to convert to mesh with correct topologies and having correct edgeloops
there are 2 completely different worlds... but it's always good to learn new things π
You can, however, use "process" software like zbrush or even blender that have retopology systems
in gaming one rule is fundamental LESS DRAW CALL
the software calls the video card for each mesh/material/texture so if an object is complex but you can collapse it all into one mesh by playing with materials with maps it may be even faster than an object that is not very complex but consists of many meshes/materials/textures
I designed this little Spyro wit the subd, start from the blender cube and then I extruded the faces
this is a ngons and is a problem for quality of rendering
all graphics engines triangulate "non-triangular" polygons so if you don't have a correct topology control of the polygon passes to the rendering engine which will still attempt to triangulate the mesh
it should be further subdivided I guess
have you noticed that many models that are "grabbed" from memory are all triangulated
in this case we try to "close" the polygon either by collapsing some vertices or by adding loops but always keeping in mind to have at most 4 vertices per polygon

You can use any mod or bike in the game as the "base"

How many, number of triangles for each, only for body or all the parts?

Currently on dirt bikes we have LODs only on the body because it is the heaviest part. Also because every LOD is a drawcall that weighs on the calculation anyway, so it's a reasoning that has to be done based on the bike complexity. Each LOD more or less halves the previous one

i think there's something wrong with the Polini94 engine that bugs the bike (and mine too)
as soon as i start from the gate the whole screen turns black and i can only see clouds, on each track, each time of day, every camera..

So you have to use create an empty object and call it #frontlight For the ones the you want to stay when you Press F, and #stoplight for the ones that lights up when you brake, and then use this settings, try to play with it. When i'll be back at home i'll send you the one that i've used with the gsx-r 1000 endurance
you can also find prefabs in this folder just put them in the body of your motorcycle, and like luca said you can create your own light source to make them work in the game you must rename your light source by #stoplight or #frontlight

in the bike config files i find
- inside drive ratio
- final drive ratio
while on the ktm manual there are
- primary transmission
- secondary ratio
can anybody tell me which is which?

Little issue (I guess) I bumped into this morning while testing one of my bikes.
After setting the torque curve and gear ratios to oem specs I noticed I can do whatever I want without changing gear.
Specifically with a 250f I can do the whole Adria karting track in 5th gear, even the slowest turns without losing too many rpm and yeeting out of turns like I was in 2nd gear
Did I messed up something on my side?
For now I'm not sure about the front sprocket size (but I don't think it will change much) and the engine brake, i have no idea how to calculate it so I'm just copy pasting from vanilla bikes
