Is there anything I should be aware about when editing FBX models with blender 4.3.2, I'm trying to make a mod for UAL but it seems that there is an issue exporting/importing models. Importing a working model and exporting it again without any modifications causes problems.

I have a modding question. I'm in the process of making my own per a friends request but I need to be able to change the faces of all the mitas, not just crazy mita. how would I go about that? I was kinda thinking about putting the face in a models folder in bepinex plugins and adding an addons_config script to replace it but I wasn't sure if that was the right way to go about it or even exactly how to if so. am I making sense?

Can you please help me? What do I need to write in addons_config for UniversalAssetLoader to load Mita's sweater model without the scarf around the neck? I have the fbx file of the sweater without the scarf, but when I load it in the game, the scarf appears as well.
I’m not very familiar with programming, but I think it’s because I’m writing create_skinned_appendix Mita SweaterM Sweater (I’m doing this based on what I’ve seen in other mods). Also, the physics for this sweater isn’t working. Do I need to add something to the code to make it work like the original sweater?
in my opinion the fbx mita file have to add the rig on the sweater or whatever you wanna add for the animations if you wanna be the same animation outfit for the og mita
if you get the og fbx mita file you will see the rig on blender

I want to confirm something, @pulsar whale . It seems like the blendshape order is affecting face animations in the game. For example, if I switch the order of "blink" with "A," the animations are swapped, even though the blendshape names remain correct. It seems the importer is treating blendshapes based on their index rather than their names.
If this is indeed an issue and not related to Assimp, I think I can create a PR to automatically correct the blendshape order. However, I’m not sure what the correct order should be.

maybe use the keyword like
replace_mesh Mita = this index should be followed
and dummy shapekeys should be created if the blendshape list is not complete
otherwise Unity will throw array out of bounds error
I think i'm just gonna put the orders in a json file, so mita and mc blendshape can be indexed when importing them.

majority of them are on BepInEx because of UAL/ConsoleUnlocker
it has more debuging and ease of use
well, i mean, sure. you can make one but users might not want to uninstall custom models to get flashlight everywhere and some other goodies
ill also make smth to make the custom modles work using a button that leads to the file of the charecter that you want and it will save it (by adding the files to the directory)

Well i learned by making models,shaders and mods all by myself and watching coding for lot of games.
I didn't look in to videos much but internet have evrything
If we're talking about shaders, you'd need to install unity too. Which that way is not even beginner friendly at all
Have to load custom AssetBundle that way
Custom model will require you only blender and some senses to write addons_config
that's basically it
You're right now that i think about it i may have been too superficial
in nutshell,
- get blender
- get mita template (either rip from game and clean it up or use template)
- get custom model
- import mita, custom model
- match custom model to close mita original skeleton
- apply scale, rotation, location
- apply pose
- transfer custom model mesh armature modifier to mita skeleton
- vertex renaming/weight paint again
- check if material has its own mesh
- export fbx, no leaf bones
- write config
- done
but i will go in details later when im done with custom model tutorial video

guys. i have model and textures to replace mita, but i dont understand how to make config. My model totally changes the model, like CJs
So I found out that the maximum amount of clothes you can put in the /custom folder is 20.. because if you have anymore it goes all the way down past the screen, I can’t scroll down to select any that is past the 20th one. Is there anything I can do about that (other than delete them)

Rewriting the logic for the Mitas, basically trying to re-create how Mita works but with actually dynamic code, e.g: she uses a statemachine to go from idle -> move -> idle instead of scripting everything

I imagine swapping out 2D Mita with a Giffany png would be relatively easy though it would be harder to get a 3D giffany in the game unless someone knows of a 3D Giffany model that alr exists

Noo not automatic weight, but transfer weight.
Just select your mesh, go to weight paint mode, click on mita mesh, and transfer the weight

it works okay but the body dimensions are still a bit different so it turn out a bit broken
The way I'm using it is to edit mita mesh first to match body dimensions

using weight transfer is literally the last ditch effort in modding cook book
theres no difference between doign this for modding and doing this for any other use case
unelss you're workign with a crusty propietary engine on some console game with file size limitations
but this is just unity
if you need any help with setting stuff up im willing to show you my workflow
we're not allowed to tamper with skeleton
but we have to match mesh almost perfectly either way when you want to weight transfer
and basically using mita as base almost doesnt apply here
unless you have to scale your custom model right or scale mita right
not necessairly, your source mesh can be posed however you want it to be as long as its rigged to the armature you want
so in this case you could grab mita's nude model and data transfer from there
yeah that is true
if your target model is rigged you could pose it to match the one you want to copy from and then apply that pose
but hands are still the worst eggplant nightmare
if you're having issues with hands you can always spread the fingers out with a shape key
and run the transfer then
and remove the key afterwards
