it's not exactly super clear. there's some statements from the devs about your original self being able to be "deleted" but I don't quite see where in the game the deletion happens. I think it's possible that the original just gets thown back into the real world after the end of the game (unseen) or it could just be deleted the moment mita removes the cartridge at 100%

The statement “I don’t need the real you anymore” means she doesn’t need the real player (on the outside) to give her attention anymore, as the she can just play the cartridge to emulate said attention

There's actually another theory where you glitching out is not related to the food, but actually another player fiddling with your cartridge, which is what makes the "you are a cartridge theory" solid in the first place

Your personality is the exact same wherever it’s at 17% or 98%. I don’t think the progress bar has anything to do with your personality or memories at all, since there’s functionally no difference between you (the cartridge in the console) at the beginning or at the end.

The only reason why I think we were never the real player in the first place is due to the ending where your experience terminates after she pulls out the console.

Adding on to this there isn't really a clear case of the player trying other ways to fiddle with his own cartridge, and even at 17% it still manages to end up at the same exact safe the player is looking at, though I feel like it just disconnects you from your real self and makes you into a bot (as in your real self IS the cartridge)

The whole cartridge then would actually be recording your personality and memory by recording how you think and react to things in the game. Then when it’s over, Mita no longer has any need for the real player as she can just play the copied you in the game for the attention she was wanting from you
