I'm curious why you think you're not good at math when your test results say otherwise. It seems like you still haven't lost your pre-calc knowledge even after 2 years. Depending on what class specifically that you placed into, your pre-calc experience might be more than sufficient. For example, if you're taking proper calculus next. Pre-calc is specifically tailored to prepare people for proper calculus. Basically, I'm just saying I hope you can have a little more confidence in yourself!
As for actual tips, my number one is just to practice a lot. You need to build the pattern recognition so that you can easily realize that I'm supposed to use this approach for this kind of problem, and unfortunately, the only way to do that is to get a lot of exposure.
Hi!! Thank you for the tips! I was just really worried for my freshman year in uni bc i got placed into a calc 1 class and i dont think i’m gonna do well 😭😭
To have a solution always look for the problem first
Start like this, ask yourself questions:
Why am I bad at math? Where do I lack the most? Which topics I struggle with and why?
It’s usually because of past teachers were bad at teaching so you’re missing out on a lot of basics which makes things more complicated than it already is
Sometime the problem is you can’t visualize things so it doesn’t make sense to you so you struggle understanding the subject
Once you figure out the problem look for solutions for it
For example if the problem is basics you need practice and you can check out some yt videos about it
If it is the main idea you don’t understand search (the topic name animation explanation) that can help you understand it well
And the more you understand it the more fun and interesting it becomes
If you figure out the problem and don’t know how to solve it still, you can ask me for help maybe I can give you some suggestions.
